synopsis : after coming back into contact with beomgyu , the person who wavered your view of love and couples , the two of you are forced to work together for a project. in the end the two of you have to deal with unwanted feelings

star 32 reaching the stars ( the end )

you stood outside the bathroom, waiting for your brother to exit, attempting to keep himself away from any attention. you looked around the area, scanning for a single peek of the man you were looking for. his lyrics being the only thing you could possibly think of.

“you’re my one and only” taehyun sang, purple hair complimenting his white outfit, gems decorating the suit. although you couldn’t take your eyes off of the person standing directly in front of you, he was in the same situation as you were in. majority of the university’s students had attended this festival… so why was it that out of all of these people, he could only keep his eyes on you.

it was a bit cringey to say, but beomgyu knew that in this dark and lonely area.. no star shined brighter than you did. people on earth can see all of the stars in the sky- because others don’t shine as bright as others.. and that was the case with you. how is it that the sun is the brightest star.. it’s even capable of having control over an entire solar system. his sky was painted black- a few bright stars here and there- 4 stars really. those who were his friends. after all his friends were his closest treasure, without his friends, he doesn’t think he would’ve ever been able to survive after leaving you. so here was his night sky, lonely and dark with only 4 bright stars, he represented himself as a planet.. so now a lonely night sky, with the bare minimum of 4 stars, and he- well he was orbiting around a star.. a star so bright and so warm.. he was fond of the thought of considering the star his so called sun.. beomgyu no longer found his night sky as a lonely and sad thought.. he thought it was a beautiful night. after all what more did he need than his stars and his sun. nothing… nothing at all.

“in a crumbling world, i found a star called ‘you’.. i need you, my love.” beomgyu sang. not breaking his eye contact with you, your brother noticing how the world of the boy in front of him seemed to be surrounding you. you were his world. and it was very obvious. however, your brother seemed to shrug it off, rather than feeling like the third wheel that he was, he enjoyed the performance.

“yn!” a boy yelled out as you looked over to the calling voice, making eye contact with beomgyu. a towel laying underneath his bangs as he dried his sweat. his black bangs looking funny against the towel. his wide smile was quite contagious as you returned a small yet meaningful smile.

“well, well if it isn’t choi beomgyu.. mind telling me who your ‘sputnik’ is?” you teased, placing a hand on his shoulder. his white suit no longer occupying his body, instead he had a beige cardigan on with a white tee underneath it, black pants keeping him warm from the cold.

“oh yes!! sadly i don’t have my sputnik in any of my classes but she’s currently sitting outside the university’s bathroom waiting for her brother..” beomgyu was always known to be a teaser, although he had a soft romantic side to him, he was always serious with you not like serious serious. but he took his time to show you that he genuinely cared and loved you. “you think he will mind if you run off for a second.”

“uhmm- i’ll just send him a text, why ? where are you going to take me choi beomgyu ?” you inquired, grabbing a hold of his hand, attempting to not get separated within the large crowd.

“oh.. me ? i’m just going to take you somewhere nearby, don’t get so worried.” beomgyu stated, leading you out of the area, walking right next to you, his other arm was draped over your shoulder as a way to protect you from getting nudged by the people who were walking the opposite direction. pulling you in closer to him, ensuring that he doesn’t lose you. the farther you walked, the amount of people began to decrease, although he didn’t walk you too far, as you came to a stop, the walking came to a stop in front of the han river. the streetlights granting the small picnic light as it entered your view.

a plaid blanket laying on the grass, wooden basket taking its position on top of the blanket, keeping it in place along with a few rocks which sat on each corner of the blanket. beomgyu keeping your hand in your grasp, avoiding the few trees that stood in your way.

“i always thought that beaches looked better at night, and now i’ve been proven right by the river.” beomgyu spoke, taking a seat on the blanket, gesturing you to do the same, which you do. he was right, it was as if the river sparkled more with the moonlight. it’s true that the river looked pure during the daylight. but there was something different about it at night, it just felt so rare to look at. “do you want a tart ?”

your stomach gave you away, with a slight growl unleashing itself. causing it to crack a smile on the both of your faces. “yes please,” your hands were put together as you waited for beomgyu to hand you a small fruit tart. your teeth sunk into the tiny tart, fruit and custard filling your mouth. although beomgyu’s eyes were stuck on you, admiring the complete joy that filled your face. had he always been so in love with you ? i mean obviously he was, but he never realized the way you make his heart beat so quick, how he was nervous that he’d mess everything up with one small movement.

“beomgyu..” he raised his eyebrows, indicating that he was indeed paying attention. “y’know why i gave you another chance… it goes much farther than just loving you. it’s because- you’ve always looked out for me. i may have grown up in a stable household at least financially wise, but i never had someone that i could truly lean on without worrying. and then- well- you were always there for me. taking care of me when i was sick, listening to my rants, and even staying by my side to watch me enjoy my hobbies. you’re someone who i can really lean on, but i want you to know that, if you ever need something, or someone to talk to, i’m always her beomgyu.”

“yn it’s not just a one sided sentiment..” beomgyu faces you, placing his hand on your chin, “i feel like you forget that you did the same exact thing for me.. plus isn’t it just human nature to nurture someone when they mean a lot to you ??” beomgyu rhetorically questions, knowing the answer to his question. although it was a serious conversation, there was one thing that was distracting you from paying too much attention to beomgyu’s reply.. that distraction was him. his soft hands taking their spot under your chin. his eyes showed nothing but stars in them. as beomgyu got closer and closer to your face, you closed your eyes, it was 100% getting heavier to breath.

and just like that the sun met his moon. the sun was never allowed to get too close to those around him, after all planets only orbit around the sun. his lips pressed onto yours, as your hands came around his neck, pulling him further onto you as if it was possible. the moon needs the sun.. although it orbits around the earth. if the earth was to lose the sun.. it would be completely off orbit. so in a way. the moon needed the sun. beomgyu needed you.. and you needed beomgyu.

your lips gave him the energy that he needed. it wasn’t just your kiss that was reviving him.. but your presence alone can turn him into a completely different person. the connection that the two of you had such a while back was slowly returning. he loved you and he never stopped loving you. although it was different for you. you surely never stopped loving choi beomgyu, but the pain that he made you face after prom masked that love. but you should have known that beomgyu would have never stopped loving you.

beomgyu pulled away, smiling softly towards you, pulling you into a tight hug. “i love you so much.” he stated, his hands rubbed the back of your head, entangling his fingers into your hair. the silence was welcomed by the two of you. he wasn’t sure how he could ever leave you. why did he ever take your mother seriously.

“..i love you too beomie.”

an: sorry i haven’t posted in a while, i had a massive writers block, and i’m not really over it. i had an essay due when i was meant to post this and the next week i had to read a book and answer questions. and then last week was full of exams. but i’m back, although i have finals in two weeks and another two essays due this week. maybe i’ll post a bonus chapter ?? … but in a serious note, i hope everyone is doing well after the news of a bright star joining the sky. it hurts honestly, i was not a huge fan of astro but i was mainly just a casual listener. it’s sad to see such a young talented idol leave us, and although i don’t want to speculate about his departure, i want everyone to know that if you ever need anyone to talk to, there’s always someone out there who cares about you. i would love to be involved in so many people’s life so they have someone that they can talk out their problems to. i hope everyone stays happy and healthy, and always think about your words before you say anything, it’s important to spread love in this world. the world is already cruel as it is and we need to stick together and we’ll make our way through this. i love youu 🤍☺️

i couldn't pinpoint, people would halt at the side of the street, attempting to lure their mishaps into the void: they would scare their fear only to taste the abrupt satisfaction of the neon lights playing through the room and every color embody the people’s overwhelming emotions that might seem to be clasped at their throat, and at some moments would cause a whirlpool whiplash of distress in their stomach.

i don't mind the world. i desire to stand at the center, wandering my eyes through the suffocating disappointment of each climax scene of every story, and there you are, standing all might in the corner of the room, wearing the disheveled black tee and the pants that have stained with blood, sweat, and tears, the brown locks that seemed very fluffy every time you strive to near my charmed and frozen state, and the immaculate smile that has reached upon your eyes: eyes that i could glimpse the whole universe that i have fallen.

you raised your left eyebrow as you lend your right hand before me, cueing you want to dance with me. it appeared foolish as i reckoned that we didn't have a piece of romantic music playing in your vinyl player. small smile plastered on our faces as we gaze through each other galaxies. faint breaths resonating through the room and the erratic heartbeat that no one minded hence we have chosen it as our favorite romantic music every moment we gaze upon the galaxies.

oh, i could only dance with you every time i aim to soar the hefty never-ending repercussions of savoring the lingering eternities in this world. the only moment that could wield the hefty errors; to meet you at dreamland, where we could only hear the calls of chirping ravens. the moon seemed to notice how the pen ran out of ink and the moonlight reflected through the white paper only to expose the illegible writings. mayhaps, i’ve written too many stories that can't seem to reach the world.

jane will attempt to make sure i’ve written you well enough and allow me to seize the nerve-racking smile that directed us to a treacherous dream. we seize the moment wherein we are the lonely characters, we dance under the moonlight on the beach whilst waves are nearing the shore every minute, the stars twinkling deeming it as a ticking time, the cold wind gushing on our layer of skin attempting to soothe up our warmed bodies stimulated by the heat emitting from our bodies, and the sound of our erratic heartbeat contrasting the silent night.

name all the war and if the world comes to its destination, i’ll call all the musicians to soar the mountains and whistle to lure the birds. i’ll choose you every day. if today, tomorrow, and the next decade is not ours, and mayhaps i recognize your flaunting and alluring smile in the wild bustling streets of another world. i will still choose you the way i chose you in the previous world.

the flaunting cosmos will darken the brightness of your eyes wherein we are not declared the night and day.
