Ctechno enjoys to press his snout in people's head and cheeks or shoulder as a way to show affection.

So when he was scared to give back cdream's headbutts he did this to show him how much he loves him

i am such a big fan of the idea that c!techno shows affection by nuzzling and sniffing and snorfing people. he knows people by scent so so well that it's actually a bit of a comfort to him, to gently press his snout against one of his friends and have their familiar smell wash over him. it's them! his friend! phil is absolutely used to this, it takes the others some time.

i actually have this headcanon that when techno first went to the prison, when things calmed down, and he was able to pay attention, to get close, maybe hug dream, he noticed how different dream smelled. not just because of hygiene, but because he had been hurt and scared for so long that the smell of all that pain and fear lingered, like a scar or a bruise.

even after they escape and dream gets his first real bath, he still smells of the prison. it takes awhile for that scent to fade.

but it does and the first time techno notices, he scoops dream up and sniffs him real good and exclaims, 'dream! you smell like you!' and dream is just half-heartedly pushing him away and laughing and says, 'what the hell else would i smell like?' techno's face gets sad for the briefest of moments before he says never mind and sniffs him again, just for good measure.

it actually drove me crazy when people would say that c!techno didn't have a character arc because to them the only character arc they could conceive of him having was one where he was punished/suffered a loss that culminated in him realizing he was 'wrong' and atoned/apologized for perceived wrong-doings.

without like. ever understanding that his grief and suffering didn't hinge on being wrong on an ideological stance because he wasn't and the narrative pretty well was holding techno's hand on that fact and he still changed his tactics despite 'winning'. and that techno's wrong-doings (of which there are) didn't usually involve like, y'know, being upset that he was betrayed a couple times.

all of which to say is that c!techno is a great example of a character that had growth that was generally pushed along narratively by like, his own personal experiences and reflections.

think about Dream gently petting Techno's execution scars and wondering if he could have done more to help

part of dream truly thought it wouldn't go that far.

he gave techno the map to direct him to the totem as a fail safe.

dream never thought they'd actually be able to get techno to the execution platform. he was prepared for it to happen, of course, because this was too important not to plan for all possibilities. but it's technoblade. no way he gets brought in by the butcher army. sure, he was outnumbered but dream knew he could best them all.

and he was right! techno could!

then they threatened carl and of course techno surrendered. dream isn't all that surprised, really. he had a horse he loved. but dream didn't think it would get that far. but it did.

so he has punz attempt to stop the execution (techno has a totem). so he frees carl because he knows that techno wouldn't leave without his horse and he's shocked and horrified when quackity pulls the lever (techno has a totem). dream doesn't have time to stop and think but the thought he should have done more does cross his mind.

when techno gets locked in prison with him, after things have settled down, dream finds himself constantly looking at techno's scar. it has a gold tint to it and most of it is hidden beneath techno's hair but part of it covers his forehead like a strange birthmark, one jagged line bisecting his eyebrow and coming close to his eye.

they're sitting next to each other, against the wall, and techno has nodded off. he can sleep anywhere. dream is watching him and without thinking, reaches out to trace techno's scar. his fingers are shaking and he knows all about scars - he's covered in them - but the scar on techno makes him sad, makes him feel guilty. what else could he have done? techno walked into a trap for him and all he did was give techno a map....

techno opens one eye and asks dream what he's doin' and dream freezes, not sure what to say. he stutters out something about never noticing it before and techno takes dream's hand and presses his palm against the scar. 'it's pretty cool, huh' he says, sounding nonchalant and that makes dream's chest tight. 'i should've done more.' he expects techno to agree.

but techno shakes his head and tells dream he did enough, without the map, he'd be dead and, besides, you got carl out, man. when dream opens his mouth to protest, techno shushes him, says it's alright, dream, you tried, you were there, that's enough.

(dream doesn't know that techno is looking at all dream's scars and wondering if there was something he could've done to take away even a fraction of them.)

i really like soul eater with its concept despite not having gotten to watch it and would love to hear about the au

OKAY.

so it's really bare bones, but the concept is that c!dream's former meister (as in the one that he's technically still with when he meets c!techno) did some pretty unethical experiments on dream which left dream very messed up, honestly.

he eventually gets away and meets techno who is also a weapon and he doesn't have a meister.

anyway, they both can wield each other! they have a lot of trust and resonance because they've kinda been through some crap, y'know?

as far as weapons: dream is a dagger/knife but one of those with a chain and fairly large ball on the end. perfect for getting in close and disabling, immobilizing people. techno is a big battle axe! sometimes i think maybe he'd have one side that's actually a hammer head though?

but basically, they fit each other's fighting styles. c!techno doesn't use a shield: he gets in close, he uses other things (like potions in canon, the chain here) to augment his fighting. where c!dream hits hard! he uses an axe literally in canon but he's also fast.

anyway, i've just always loved the idea of these two both being weapons, knowing what it's like to sometimes have a shitty partner, and finding that they work so well together!

For the dnd au, I realised Dream "I don't even sleep" being a warlock makes so much sense. He would tell Techno "oh I never really sleep I just need to take a short rest a day and then go back to fighting for my life" and Techno would be like "well that explains a lot, let's get you a bed and some warm milk"

dream absolutely assumes that techno will be like 'that doesn't seem right but i don't know enough about warlocks to be sure so i guess that's fine'.

instead, techno makes them stop at the next library and reads up on warlocks and is just 'actually! turns out you're still a livin' bein' that needs a reasonable amount of sleep each night.'

it's really annoying to dream. he's doing his best to be completely self destructive and now there's stupid paladin who is making him do things like eat food and get sleep. meanwhile techno is just rolling his eyes and going 'oh no the horrors of a nice meal and eight hours of sleep'.

how Does techno feel about animal deaths? Dsmp did have that reputation of killing off pets, did he ever harm any of them or is that a line he does not cross?

one of the c!techno moments i remember the most is from the pet wars when he was protecting max the fox. he gave max a speed potion. he kept saying not to hurt or kill max.

when c!tommy insisted more than once that techno would, in fact, kill c!sapnap's pets, techno was confused and said he wouldn't.

he gave jack's fox a golden apple. he was upset over the killing of his cows and panicked when he thought carl was going to die and was upset at the idea of zombies crushing his turtle eggs.

but there's also times when an animal dies or is harmed around him that he's fairly apathetic about it.

so i think... i think c!techno is like a farmer.

someone who loves his pets and treats them well and never wants to cause them harm and will actually go to lengths to protect them and just. random other animals. but also does know that if you're gonna eat beef, you gotta kill the cows, y'know? and sometimes the cop who kidnapped your friend's son is just gonna kill a horse and all you can do is add that to your mental list of reasons why you'll be chill locking him in a prison with no food.

the general principle is that c!techno remembers everything thanks to the voices and is aware of what happened to c!dream. but dream doesn't remember beyond the fact that sometimes, he gets chills at the sight of shears or obsidian, that he doesn't always sleep well. he has so many scars and doesn't remember how he got them.

techno befriends him. he wants to tell dream the truth, about everything that happened, about them, but dream seems so happy. he's got what he wants, doesn't he? everything is peaceful. dream smiles so easily now.

but techno isn't the only one who remembers everything. sometimes c!sam looks at dream in a way that techno just doesn't like.

Sixteenth Day Event Prompt:

Dream makes fun of Technoblade's style in prison

"I gotta be honest, Dream," said Techno, with a deep breath, rubbing his hands over his knees.

Dream preemptively rolled his eyes; it had been a week (or he thought it had been a week, Dream was counting the days based on when Techno slept which wasn't the best way of telling time but a lot better than his previous method of just guessing) and already he knew Techno's little tells.

"Your decoratin' skills leave a lot to be desired. This cell is not very welcomin' or homey."

"WHAT?"

In the same way Dream knew that Techno had been preparing to say something that would rile him up, he knew Techno's comment was bullshit. Techno didn't actually think Dream had been responsible for the decoration of the cell and he wasn't actually upset it wasn't homey, whatever the fuck that meant, but that wouldn't stop Dream from reacting as if he did.

"I'm just sayin', where are the personal touches?"

Dream rolled his eyes again, exaggerated, struggling to keep his mouth pressed into a straight line. The muscles of his face ached a little.

"Yeah, yeah," he said, "I'll get- I'll get right on decorating the cell I've been locked up in for months." Techno was nodding, face fake-serious, and Dream almost laughed. "Maybe I'll get a- a houseplant or whatever."

Techno was still nodding, fingers tapping along his chin. When his gaze flicked towards Dream, there was a sort of relieved sadness in his eyes. Dream studiously ignored that look.

"A nice paintin' would really spruce things up in here."

A snort escaped Dream. He was slowly losing the battle. His mouth curled upwards.

"Even if- Even if I could get a painting, I'm not going to trust you. Y-your style sucks, Techno."

"HEH??"

Now Dream laughed; the look on Techno's face was still mostly an act, he knew that, but it was a funny one. Goal achieved, he guessed.

"You're wearing a fancy ass cloak in prison. You have- You have a crown! It's actually ridiculous," said Dream, crossing his arms over his chest. The smile was still on his face and Techno still looked relieved beneath the feigned offense.

"Oh, I see, I see." The cell wasn't large. It took Techno three steps to stand next to Dream but he somehow managed to give the impression of ambling his way over. "You're jealous, Dream. I mean, you do dress like a weird homeless man so it's understandable."

Dream's eye-rolling muscles were getting a workout.

"You're so stupid. I'm not jealous."

"No, no, no, I get it, Dream. You don't need to pretend. We're best friends, right?" Techno's fingers brushed the back of Dream's head before placing his hand over his heart. "And because I'm such a good friend, I'm willin' to share."

"Wh-what are you talking about?" Dream asked even though Techno was already taking off his cloak. It would have been too much work to move - Dream's hips were sore, his whole body was sore, and the obsidian hurt his knees - and moving wouldn't have stopped Techno anyway.

Draping the cloak around Dream's shoulder, Techno sunk to the floor next to him. The cloak was soft and heavy. It smelled like smoke and sweat and pine sap and dog. The fur tickled Dream's face. He rubbed the collar against his skin, cheeks going red when he noticed Techno watching him.

To offset the sudden awkwardness of vulnerability, Techno said with a groan, "I'd let you borrow my crown, man, but it wouldn't fit. Your head is kinda tiny compared to mine."

"Fuck off, Techno, my- my head is not tiny."

Techno laughed while Dream hid his face in the cloak.

"Sure, Dream, I believe you." Techno wrapped an arm around him, not caring with such ease when his arm was crushed between Dream's bony back and the obsidian wall that Dream wondered if that had been the plan from the beginning. "I believe you."

I kinda like the idea of cdream's hair and facial growing too much on prison and when he's out he hates see them so much bc they're a reminder of it. So he cuts and shaves and makes a mess bc his hands are shaking and he's doing it too harshly and cuts himself badly. When he's with ctechno and cpunz both almost faint when they see his technique so they help him to do it until he recovers. Ctechno takes the oportunity to play with cdream hair and make him fun hairstyles. Cpunz once make him a mustache and cdream was very close to kill them (affecionated)

i've always loved the idea of c!dream struggling with appearance, particularly hair, after the prison!

because unless it was done for him, there's not much he could do about it. you can only finger comb your hair to a certain point, you can't cut it without a knife or something and he was in there long enough that it would've grown quite a bit.

he doesn't think it's worth salvaging because it's not practical and it doesn't matter, even when it does. dream can't let it matter.

but c!techno would absolutely take the time to fix it.

he sees that dream has cut himself trying to shave and hacked off a good chunk of his hair. there's still patches of stubble and still knots and mats in his hair so techno sits down and combs it all out even though it takes forever (dream actually nods off a couple times). he cleans up the stubble as best he can while avoiding the cuts. it's not perfect but it's better.

dream kinda defaults to letting techno take care of it because, again, he doesn't care. he can't. but then techno starts putting little braids in and tiny bows or flowers and dream finally is like 'TECHNO. stop!' and takes over. which was the point and he knows it, really.

sometimes, though, he asks techno to braid his hair and he doesn't always mind when techno sticks a flower in it, either.

c!techno already heard the whole 'i don't even sleep' line from c!dream, immediately read it as dream trying to sound cool and invulnerable (correct), and now will laser in whenever the subject comes up.

'get a load of this fool. he thinks he's above gettin' proper nutrition and sleep. cringe.'

and dream does his little stomp-exasperated combo and goes 'no! that's-- that's not. i'm busy, techno. i'm trying to get things done and you're making fun of me!'

techno's just 'sure, you're gettin' so much done. you're noddin' off every five seconds and i can hear your stomach rumblin'. eat a dang sandwich, man.'

to which dream is all 'UGHHH techno'

(phil calls in from the other room 'that little shit not eating still' 'sure isn't phil' 'boo')

'don't complain to me when tommyinnit kicks your butt because you need a snack'

'god, fine, i'll eat the stupid sandwich.'

Hi! I'd love to talk about c!rivals! I've had a really rough time recently and would like a bit of a distraction as well.

awww i feel that honestly <3 <3

lately i've been thinking about how sometimes c!techno isn't the best at dealing with heavy emotional stuff. he's by no means 'emotionally constipated' like some of the fandom believes, it's just that he's awkward and doesn't always know what to do. so he teases a lot because it's normal, y'know?

and there's definitely a part of c!dream that likes that because it is normal. techno is treating him exactly the same as he always does and it lets dream slip into that.... well, denial, right? things aren't that bad. techno is making jokes and dream is doing that fake annoyed laugh, just like always.

but things aren't normal and eventually dream has to deal with that and techno isn't always going to know what to do.

so imagine techno just bringing dream animals. that always makes techno feel better so he's plopping a fox in dream's lap or letting the dogs in or encouraging steve to sniff dream. and at first dream is annoyed and it's almost real annoyance because he's thinking about spirit and about the cat and the dog and how all that ended up. except this time there's a never-ending parade of animals and the foxes are very shy but they take treats from dream's hand and then scurry away and the dogs lick him and steve is surprisingly soft.

anyway. i think about that and about how both techno and dream are struggling to express themselves a bit because the world has not exactly been kind to either.
