DJI Support Story DJI Mini 3 Pro

While in Belarus we had a mishap with our DJI Mini 3 Pro and broke a part on the gimbal. This was early on in our trip and when we got back we sent the drone / quadcopter off to DJI to be fixed. Here is our DJI Support Story.

The process is online at rthe DJI site.

On the DJI web site we selected the Support option and then selected Request Repair Service Online and the screen below was displayed.

Selecting Submit A Repair Request we were then asked to select an Area & Region as you can see in the screen shot below.

Your then asked about the device (serial number, etc.), the malfunction of the device, parts, address and then submit.

You then receive instructions on screen on what to do with the device and they also come via email. Within 24hrs the shipping label is emailed to you. We put the quadcopter in a box with bubble wrap, printed out the label and sent it off with UPS. Within 3 days we received an email from DJI they had received the quadcopter and they were now going to look at it and see what damage there was. We then followed the progress of the quadcopter via the DJI Service Portal. We logged in (screen shot below) and saw the quadcopter had been received and now being damaged assessed.

Three days later we were informed by email that the damage was being fixed “free of charge” (wow thanks DJI) and two days after that it was Repaired as you can see in a screen shot of our service portal, it was prepped for shipping and then we got it back with a UPS delivery.

Opening the box we were surprised as in the box (see photo below) was the quadcopter in a bubble wrap sheef and also a black DJI baseball cap.  It was an unexpected and a nice surprise. Thanks DJI.

We pulled the quadcopter out of the bubble wrap, it is sealed in it’s own thin plastic cover as shown in the photo we took below.

The camera had all the usual plastic covers on them which needed to be peeled off. The photo below shows thw DJI Mini 3 Pro out of the cover - it looks brand new. Is it?

The memory card we left in the drone came back in a small plastic zip lock bag and this was installed in the drone. Grabbing a plus battery for the drone this was inserted, the arms were extended and the drone turned on. It came to life.

The RC controller was turned on. This was the first time it had been on since the mishap in August.

We like this RC controller for the DJI Mini 3 Pro as there is no phone to attach with a cable, as we always had issues with the USB connection to the phone due to the phone-case we use. The RC is lighter than a normal controller/phone combination, quicker to get started and finished, and for us as we have small hands, its a great fit.

A few weeks ago the RC added the DJI Mavic 3 as a quadcopter that it can be used with, and in the last couple of days the DJI Air 2s has also been added to the RC list. We have a new DJI RC coming & when it arrives we will be having an unboxing, connection to the DJI Air 2s and then test flight.

Once it booted up, connected to the DJI Mini 3 Pro and then the wifi network, the message of firmware & updates of over 1gb for the quadcopter and controller was available.

We selected update and then put the quadcopter in front of a fan to keep cool while it updated & not flying as you can see in the photo below.

In less than 10 minutes as we weren’t taking any notice, the update to the DJI Mini 3 Pro and the DJI RC was competed and successful.

This is about DJI Support and not updating the quadcopter, so how was our experience with DJI Support? We have had two interactions with DJI Support, the first was we enquired about the Plus Battery and was offered two for sale and delivery and we had them within a few days, and now this interaction with the broken quadcopter. Both times DJI Support have been excellent and we can’t fault them. We would say we got a 5 Star service & we could not recommend them enough.

First User Video Of DJI Mini 3 Pro In Flight Goes Live

After the appearance Friday of the first unboxing video of DJI's yet-to-be-unveiled Mini 3 Pro, it was inevitable a film of the new drone in flight would soon drop.

That video of the Mini 3 Pro being put through the moves was uploaded just hours after - not illogically - the same content creator posted unboxing shots of the craft.

McHardy's intent in the demo film is very obviously to give viewers who've been titillated and tormented by months of rumors ahead of the Mini 3 Pro's expected launch on May 10th a fast but loving peek of the drone and built-in screen controller.

Despite recent complaints by users of DJI Mavic 3 drones about prolonged delays for GPS connections - some extending beyond 10 minutes - McHardy says the Mini 3 Pro linked up with one of the 25 satellites it had found inside 10 seconds.

Apart from the manicure of hands visible in both films being uncannily similar, DroneDJ writer Ishveena Singh noted that in response to yesterday's unpacking vid, "Eagle-eyed drone enthusiasts contend the box seen in the video comes from the inventory of UK retailer Agros, who accidentally made their product listing public last weekend." Though it's a big country, McHardy's origins make that England connection seem more than coincidental.

Perhaps more compelling is that if McHardy didn't already have a Mini 3 Pro to unbox all by himself, how did he get his hands on one to film flight footage the same day? Why would a leaker hog the lesser joy of ripping the packaging, and hand over the prize inside for the bigger deal?

McHardy may eventually answer those questions himself, but for now - in the wake of his most recent work featuring the Mini 3 Pro aloft - most viewers now want to know something else: How on earth he managed to get the drone days before DJI is expected to introduce it?
