Medical Examiner Dr. Qin: The Mind Reader Whump List

Medical Examiner Dr. Qin: The Mind Reader is a 2022 mystery, medical, drama from China.

(From MDL) "After the mysterious death of his mother, forensic science grad student Qin Ming travels to his mother’s hometown to investigate. Arriving in Longfan City earlier than anticipated, Qin Ming inadvertently finds himself involved in an entirely different murder case. Now working two cases at once, Qin Ming has no choice but to seek the help of the local authorities. The only problem is, Qin Ming has a horrible time trying to communicate with others."

Oh man, this show. I am putting this down as one that I watched so you don't have to. It has some moments of pretty decent whump (but very little aftermath) but it has many tropes that are not to my taste. That being said, the male lead does get locked in the trunk of a car and that is one of my favorite whump tropes, so it gets bonus points for that.

Episode 1: (Dream) falls through a bridge, drowning, struck by lightning(?), robbed, arrested

Episode 2: (Dream) floating underwater, ankle grabbed, dragged down, strapped to an electric chair (with buckles), chin grabbed, scared, electrocuted, passes out, wakes up gasping

Episode 3: Hit in the arm with a piece of wood, back repeatedly hit with the same piece of wood, grabbed by the throat, knocked to the ground, face pushed into a stream, has a flashback, rescued, helped to stand, helped to walk, given CPR, helped to stand again, falls down the stairs, pushed in a wheelchair, brace on his ankle, helped to walk, the person helping him rushes away, falls down the stairs again (no consequence)

Episodes 4-7: None

Episode 8: Grabbed from behind, chased

Episodes 9-10: None

Episode 11: Nightmare about his deceased mother

Episode 12: Nightmare about his deceased mother, followed, push against the side of a staircase, knocked to the ground, punched in the face, knocked to the ground again, threatened, blood on his lip, concern for him, punched in the side, knocked to the ground, groaning in pain, lifted by his shirt, punched in the face

Episode 13: Wounds treated

Episodes 14-16: None

Episode 17: Nightmare about his mother, wakes up gasping

Episodes 18-19: None

Episode 20: Falls into the water, electrocuted, concern for him, flashback, given CPR

Episode 21: Flashback, coughing up water, confused, grabbing his head, concern for him, helped to walk, says that his mother is dead because of him, got dissociative amnesia from a head wound and witnessing his mother’s death as a teenager

Episode 22: None

Episode 23: Receives a call from a suspect, police ordered to restrict his movements, in an interrogation room

Episode 24: Home invaded, hand over his mouth, throat cut (minorly), <- was all fake, concerned for someone

Episode 25: Main suspect in a murder case, on the run, punched in the face, falls to the ground, sees friend/colleague hit by a car, hit over the head, knocked out, dragged to a car, locked in the trunk, wakes up tied to a chair, rescued

Episode 26: None

Episode 27: Finds out how his mother really died, emotional
