Drink Drink Drink! | MIAO Nationality Traditions in China | 5 Bowls Drink
I’m in NanNing city - and experience a traditional Miao dinner with new local friends. The opening ceremony takes place at “You Jian Xiao Jiu Guan” a brand new restaurant that caters to the Miao minority. The ceremony is massive, with music and dance by the MiaoZu. My hosts Maggie & Taley - one of the owners, show me how to drink in a very particular way while they are singing and playing music for us. Such a genuine experience!
Check out my channel with over a hundred videos detailing my experience as I travel all over China documentary style, with complete Fun Travel Guides so that you can go plan for your trip too!

Dragon boat festival of Hmong (Miaozu in China)
Dragon boat festival is one of the important national activities by Hmong at China. It is held on 24th to 27th of May in Luna calendar and it would be in June of each year for the western.
There is an old saying that the dragon king (the god of rain in Chinese Methology) was ordered to make the rainfalls in drought areas. backpack But because drank to much of wine, dragon king made a mistake and no rains in that areas, but heavy rains in flood areas instead. Then this lead to many people lose their families heavily.
After got this news, the heaven emperor was so angry and ordered the god of thunder to cut dragon king into nine pieces immediately, then threw them into the river.
From then on, in order to pray for rains in Miaozu area, the hmongs will make dragon boats, which was connected by the nine pieces of dragon king’s body individually. Then, they will row the boats on the Qingjiang river at this festival. Due to the people’s godliness, the emperor made dragon king to relive again.
So, dragon boat festival of miao is a special date to celebrate the reliving of dragon king.
