i got excited answering this and went off on a couple of spoiler-filled tangents, so I included the rest under the cut.

I 10000000% agree, especially about the upcoming raid! Team Xen grunts literally sign away their bodies and souls when they join, so it's no wonder why seemingly redeemable characters like Eli and Sharon are forced to stay on.

[aside: I'm pretty sure that Team Xen "recruitment" in general follows a standard format where people in life-threatening or easily manipulable situations are offered either a second chance at their own life or the chance to save the life of a loved one. I mean, there's Neved with Francesca, Madelis with Lisbeth, Keta with Aelita. I mean, there's a grave marked "Eli" at Carotos Peak and I don't think that's a coincidence. Why else would all these people fight (presumably) for the destruction of the world? All those fires in Aevium's past (like the lab fire with Jenner, Maddie (prob Madelis), and Cas (prob Cassandra)), could in part be a massive recruitment effort.]

Anyway, I think the only hope for Ren in the upcoming raid is what I mentioned before, about how he is somehow integral to Team Xen's overarching plans, as per renegade 13.5. My best guess is that these plans include using the energy emitted from a Xenpurgis rampage in GDC to fulfill the dark prophecy, using "the four shadows" mentioned on the Absol Statue back in Blacksteeple to bring back Storm-9.

The shadows that shade the earth shall be known in the end. The one of raw evil, the one of obsession, the one of betrayal, and the one of greed. These four shall see the world be lost forever.

We don't have enough information to definitively say who the one of raw evil, obsession, or greed could be. But betrayal? It fits Ren. In the scene where he is first "hired" or whatever and meets Madame X, I feel like this idea is pretty spoon-fed to us.

MADAME X: Have you brought him? The one I've detailed. NASTASIA: Yes. Please, come forth. Introduce yourself. REN: …Hello, Ma'am. My name is Ren. NASTASIA: Ren used to be comrades with [player] and the rest. But based on what he's told me, if accurate, would display the attributes of the one we're looking for. MADAME X: And just why would one of [player]'s comrades want to betray them?

I mean, the word "betray" is explicitly used here.

On Nastasia: Yes. Absolutely. She's strong as hell, but she can't stand up alone to Madame X. Like you said, her powers can only go so far. After all, presumably, her body and soul are in the control of Madame X as well.

In general, Nastasia is an absolutely fascinating character imo... and I have a feeling the Ren might not be the only double agent working for Xen. Nastasia is "the woman who sacrificed everything for the one who loved her." I think we can say with 99.999999% certainty that she is the grown up version of little Anastasia, Katsu's daughter. Out of all the Execs, she seems to be the most devoted to Madame X. That tracks if Madame X is somehow tied to Maria, or is Maria herself. Is Anastasia, by working for her, possibly trying to save Madame X/Maria from herself? Is Madame X/Maria perhaps even being controlled by a darker force, and "unbound soul" like Vitus? In that way, is Nastasia still the little girl trying to reach her best friend?

All this to say I think Nastasia may be more on our side than we think. She is seemingly the most devoted Xen Exec, yet she has gone on multiple dangerous, rogue missions--including one that really did nothing but aid our side--helping Aelita get to the Spring of Rejuvenation and saving the lives of Venam, Erin, Allen, and Alice. She clearly knows that Ren is a double agent, and she hasn't ratted him out (or, possibly, she has ratted him out and Madame X simply does not care, because with Xen having completely control over his soul and body, he can still be used to fulfill his purpose, regardless). There's the fact that Nastasia, an apparent wunderkind with machines and technology, "missed" the fact that the Sigils in Blacksteeple were being sabotaged by Nancy (something Melia immediately noticed). And there's the fact that she clearly trusts and loves Ren (in a maternal way, I think), cheering him up, helping him sneak out of HQ in his actual body. You know, usual mother-son activities. But yeah, I guess the point I'm getting at here is that I could see Nastasia doing her darndest to protect Ren, maybe even sacrificing herself to do so, but I don't think that would be enough to save him, with the level of control Xen has over the both of them at this point.

Back to Ren, there's another things that's been bothering me: the whole twin prophecy with Reina. I have... thoughts... about this. I def could see it playing out exactly how Reina expects: one twin (Ren) fights for the destruction of the world (likely against his will), and the other (Reina) fights to save it. But another part of me (that's read way too many thrillers) feels like this is too cut and dry, and that this presumption is going to be flipped on its head. Let's say Ren does die in the upcoming raid, and he dies fighting to save the world. What if... destroying the world, following Madame X's plan, would undo his death somehow? What if it would save him, or bring him back? We know that souls get recycled in this universe, after all. Would Reina consider switching sides to bring him back? That would be a betrayal, for sure. And that would also play into the whole Life is Strange moral quandary pervasive throughout the game--save the one you love, or the lives of millions? This would also fulfill the prophecy, but in a way that we do not necessarily expect. Because otherwise, I feel like this prophecy is pretty superfluous. By the time we hear it, we already know that Ren is Xen [hehe], so what new information does it really present?

Anyway, yeah, um, thank you so much for the ask! Sorry for the long winded response. There's way too many theories about this game bouncing around in my brain and it's nice to have an outlet for it. Count Bleck the Blue Goldstone. His gem is where his left eye would be, and his weapon is a staff.

Nastasia the Dragons Vein Agate. Her gem is on her chest, and she is equipped with a pair of glasses that can rejuvenate gems.

Mimi the Bloodstone. Her gem is on her forehead, and her weapons are throwing knives (resembling the rubee projectiles from the game).

O’ Chunks the Imperial Topaz. His gem is on his upper right arm, and his weapons are gauntlets.

Mr. L the Peridot. What a mysterious gem, his gem doesn’t seem to be visible on his body. Perhaps it’s hidden under those limb enhancers. His weapon appears to be a hammer, but he relies much more on his robots.

Dimentio the Violet Spinel. His gem is on his chest, and while other Spinels have excellent stretching abilities, he possesses the ability to make his hands and whole body float.

Renegade "Interceptor" or better known as "Fallen Interceptor" Asher is a scientist working for Team Xen who they joined a few years ago. They are specializing in Dragon-types and regional forms.

Asher was originally from a previous timeline (like an older version of Rejuvenation maybe?) where they had a normal life until they were tricked by Crescent and Variya (unbeknownst to them) into becoming the Interceptor. Unfortunately, despite fitting the certain criteria for the role, something went horrible wrong during their journey in Aevium and where sent to the Hisui region for unknown reasons before eventually sent to Orre by Arceus, where they were forced to join Team Cipher. Years later, they managed to escape to Aevium and decided to join Team Xen to ensure their survival.

As a result of enduring several hardships, betrayal and mistreated, Asher became cynical and hardened to an extent, having adapted to the harsh world it drilled them to survive at all costs. They also loathe Arceus and Crescent as they believe to be the reason for all their suffering and their life being permanently ruined. However they still get along with Ren (taking them under their wing and have a sibling relationship), Zetta, Nastasia, Sharon and Eli.

Their ace is Garchomp whom they can Mega Evolve.

Alright I'm just kinda wondering what happened to Katsu (Nastasia's mom). Like last time we saw her, she reconciled with Anastasia and had a tearful hug and she is CEO of Rejuvenation CO which like, got replaced with Xen HQ after that, so it left me wondering this. Either she's dead (Maybe she like got killed and Rejuvenation CO was turned into Team Xen's headquarters afterwards?) or maybe she's still alive out there, just trapped?

(Ok after a while I realized she probably just simply died in Storm-9, but I'm still thinking. maybe there's some possibility that she's still alive and is just somewhere out there in Xen HQ. You never know)

more rejuv opinions.. my favorite character dynamic in rejuv at the moment is ren and nastasia.

v11 solidified their bond as something extremely enjoyable, with ren allowing nastasia to drop her cold act, at least momentarily, in his presence. the entire plotline with him having met her in the past already is so good, too!

its possible that ren and wiggles (wherever they may be... those dexoy clones have me worried about wiggles) are the only things nastasia has left from her past besides the husk of rejuvenation co. that resides on reldin island, and she cherishes them... so much.

just.. dont.. die on me. it resonates with me so much, especially considering that this segment is where anastasia lost maria forever. she does not want to lose possibly the only person she can call a friend, again, to the same gardevoir, to the same apocalyptic event. just. urhgh

1. Favorite character from Rejuvenation?

Hmnnghhh hard to say, I love a lot of them. Stupid little guys all of them (affectionate). Because I’m indecisive and can’t chose one my favs include Ren, Alain, Saki, Eli & Sharon, Geara, Zetta and Nastasia (even if I constantly forget how to spell her FUCKING NAME). Can you tell I like villains.

REN AND NASTASIA BEING SIBLINGS MEAN SO FUCKING MUCH TO ME AAAA.

brother i have been coming up with so much random shit for kieran especially because i have been rping as him on twitter (the brainrot is so strong this is literally the first time i'm really doing any kind of serious rp and it's for him)

off the top of my head:

• due to Being A Robot, he has no sense of smell or taste and his sense of touch is basically just being able to sense that something is touching him but no actual Sensation.

• finds having cash on hand to be convenient but obviously is a jobless evil android so he just steals random strangers' wallets

• has jean's memories but frequently deletes them which resulted in the personality and identity he currently has, with no real attachment to his supposed former self

• this one is for jean but i think he was a little freak boy with food and would dip his bagels in strawberry yogurt (it's his favorite breakfast snack)

14. What character(s) did you initially not care about or dislike that grew on you after a while?

zetta was love at first sight but kieran i didn't know what to think about until The Disease spontaneously hit me. i remember having no real opinion on him and then he was tied up and zetta was talking about killing him and i was like "nooo don't kill kieran i like him he's fun :^(" and Then realized he's a fav. and my love has only grown stronger

17. Favorite aevian form?

as much fun as i've been having sweeping the renegade route with a debugged in aevian volcarona, i think aevian leavanny is still my babygirl. i have one named mercy in my main file that i use as a utility mon (intimidate with breaking swipe/struggle bug/fell stinger/poison jab)

20. What got you into Rejuvenation in first place?

i always play a lot of rom hacks but have only tried a couple of fangames. one of which was bushido which i really liked (mostly because of kuro. i am extremely in love with him) but it ran like absolute garbage on my laptop and i sadly assumed fangames just weren't really a possibility for me because i wasn't willing to play them in slow motion but rejuv looked so good that i decided to go ahead and see how it runs... and it works fine! :^o and now i have to wonder what other fangames i could try

27. Favorite rift pokemon?

hm. i actually don't like the rift mons very much. but i do like code: bella's design a lot (which. hardly counts as a pokemon considering.)
