Have some sketches.

Lumiere can create flames with his fingers, and touch fire with nary a mark. Sometimes he sets it off by accident, and many a towel has burnt this way. He has nightmares of melting, but sees it as his job to remain positive... and so he tells no one. He's just happy to be human again.

Cogsworth can keep perfect time, and his heart ticks and tocks. He knows exactly how many seconds they were cursed for; it haunts him how little he's done with that wasted decade, and how little he's done since it was broken. He often wonders if there is much difference between himself as a human, and himself as a clock.

Both argue as if nothing has changed,

and in that regard, nothing has.

I’ve seen this for art, but what about my writing makes you go, “ah, that’s a _____ production”?

#you blend detail and summary so effortlessly #it heightens this sense of detachment as if the reader is a distant observer who can only stare in horror as the events unfold #it's a very specific vibe that idk how to describe well but it's really effective #I've taken a lot of inspiration from that as I try to improve the way I write summarizing exposition

I think I am the way I am partially because my first ever big video game with a story was Super Paper Mario. The narrative is kickass but honestly more than anything I haven't seen many examples that come close to how visually coherent Super Paper Mario is. The amount of geometric shapes in the art direction of the game really drives home how many characters could only exist in 2D, which really drives home the ability to swap to 3D!!!! It's so cool!!! and all the weird equations in the sky and the bizarre (even for Mario standards) enemy designs and the way each world seems to have a unique pattern to the way the world layout is stylized.....its absolutely incredible

#spm is such a treat #it's gained more of a cult classic following but I still don't think it gets enough love
