Pinned, and powerless, she lay beneath the Fell Omen. He stared at her, and she stared right back. There was silence, save for the sounds of labored breath. Her hold on her swords loosened. He allowed her the freedom to move one of her hands. And she reached for him, tracing her fingers along the side of his abdomen, feeling the ribs beneath his flesh, strong, and yet with a hint of malnourishment. They travelled still, taking in the texture of his skin, and fur. For a moment, her hand lingered upon his breast, feeling the heart within beating with a quickened rhythm. Further upward she went, passing over his collarbone, his neck, and finally coming to a rest upon his cheek. A soft, rumbling sigh was heard from the Fell Omen as his eye drifted shut. And he leaned his face into her hand.

"... You're beautiful..." ... It slipped from her lips. Bringing the omen back to the present, he opened his eye and stared down upon her, his expression melancholic. With a breath, the Fell Omen released her from his hold, turning his gaze away. But she remained. Sitting herself up, she remained by his side; and reaching out, she gently cupped his cheek, turning him to face her once more. "You're beautiful," she said once more, fingers weaving into the soft whiskers at the side of his face. "... Thou... Knowest not what thou speaketh," he said. But she remained resolute. "... But I do," she answered. Gently did her thumb trace over his lips. Scarred though they were, she felt drawn to him. There was a swallow... It was evident he was nervous.

"Tarnished," he began, with a faint tremble to his voice. "We... Shouldn't." "... I think we should." There was silence that followed. Her eyes switched, from gazing to his eye, gold and brilliant, then to his lips. There was silence, save for the sound of their breath, and the ever-gentle rustle of leaves. There was silence as she leaned closer. And there was silence as their lips met, soft, and gentle. ... But she did not linger for long. And though it pained her, she pulled away, wishing not to overstep her boundaries, though... This mere gesture was perhaps a big leap for them both. ... There was silence that followed. And she stood up, leaving him to think on... On this... It was only after a few steps that she came to a stop, hearing her name uttered by the Fell Omen.

She turned. And he was upon her once more, her body wrapped up in strong arms, and their lips reunited once more. And she held on. Cherishing him. Cherishing this moment. The warmth.  The tenderness.

Her hands found the knot that kept his robes tied, and she worked at loosening them. And she felt his own hands at work on her clothes. Before long, they were both bare. Their lips clashed. Hands, large and small, wandered, roaming, groping, caressing, stroking. They came to a pause to catch their breath, labored by the growing passion between them. The adoration he saw in her eyes was not like anything he'd seen before... And their lips found one another once again. And it was in that night where they surrendered themselves to their heart's desires, naked bodies, entwined by the heat of passion, kissed by rays of gold slipping past the branches and leaves of the trees around them. It was in that night that they found love, careless of the judgement the gods might harbor.

Sitting across from Melina, she reached her hand out so that she could channel the runes she's accumulated to empower herself. Her mind yet lingered on that moment. Between herself, and the Fell Omen. Her beloved Margit, once feared. But now, she harbored only fondness, adoration, and love for him. Her memories of that night slipped out, and she was drawn from her thoughts when she heard a faint gasp from Melina. Their hands recoiled, and the normally stoic Melina looked back upon her with shock. "Share them with me… Your thoughts… Your ambitions… The principles you would follow." The sudden realization had hit her, hard as a hammer. "… Perhaps another time," said the Tarnished, standing up and departing from the site of grace. All the while cursing to herself that she had unwittingly revealed a memory most precious. And from afar, Melina merely looked upon the Tarnished, dismayed by what had been revealed. And regret for what lay beyond…

The Big Apple 1977.  Where Elton John & Kiki Dee’s Don’t Go Breaking My Heart rules the radios and the likes of Bridge to Terabithia and The Shining cause wonder in the literary world. You manage to scrape together whispers and rumors of a school for mutants. A safe space for the likes of you. Somehow,  you are able to put the rumors together and here you are: Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters. A place where you are welcomed, educated and able to hone your abilities, which are seen as a gift, not a curse. Yor mutation is looking at someone, not matter how far away they are, and being able to hear everything they say. 

Since your mutation would not be of very much use in hand to hand combat, you’ve trained hard to be the best of the best. To be a deadly stage 5 mutant with or without your ability. 

The year is now 1983. Elton John replaced with Wham! U2, David Bowie and the Police. Apocalypse rose and fell, and though you’re angry that you weren’t able to help on the battlefield, you rejoice that you nor the people you cared about got very hurt. You’ve been sort of a loner, never placing your trust in anyone for fear of getting hurt, but now at 16 years of age, loneliness and want of friendship push you to befriend Jean Grey, another misfit who is misunderstood and treated differently.

It’s a beautiful morning…to stay in bed and sleep. The weather is dark and gloomy, rain pitter patters on your window and refuses to let you go back to sleep. As you begin to finally drift off again, a knock sounds at your door.

“ Y/N!! Waaake uuupppp! Time for the DANGER ROOM!” Jean calls from the other side of the door.

You groan. Then sigh. It’s not like you were going to get to sleep anyway. after telling Jean tp stuff it, you roll out of bed and get ready for the day.

“Who’s on the team today?” You ask, closing the door behind you as you exit the room.

“Um, I think it’s Kurt, that one girl who always wears overalls, Ororo, you, me and,” She paused, eyeing you sideways, “Scooott,” She whispered in a sing song voice, winking and making kissing noises.

“Ugh, please,” you manage, rolling your eyes and putting your hair in a hasty braid.

“Scott likes it better in a ponytail,” she grinned

You groan, “The day I dress for a man is the day they dress me in my coffin to go see Jesus” 

“Oooh, touchy,” She said in false hurt, “your brain seems to say otherwise,”

“Jean! Stay out of my brain!” You snap, now irritated.

So what if you liked Scott? He was funny, rebellious, charming, not to mention HOT. But did you ever have a chance? Absolutely not. You weren’t stupid. The looks he cast Jean in the hallways were none too subtle. The way he always was there by her side, ready to come to her aid at the drop of a hate. You’d never admit it to her, but you were undeniably jealous of the way the brunette worshiped the very ground your best friend walked on. Friendship meant more to you than anything, however, so you’d die before letting a boy come between you and Jean.

“Speak of the handsome Devil!” Jean said, elbowing your side, snapping you out of your thoughts.

Sure enough, Scott Summer has just turned the corner, deep in conversation with Kurt. As soon as your eyes fell on him, his words became clear. As if he was standing right next to you.

“Of course I’m excited, it’s a great day! She’s gonna be in the Danger Room with us! That never happens!” Scott was gushing.

“Yes, and also Jean is very strong, no? It will be easy as cake!” The cobalt boy mused.

“Yeah, I guess she is. But that’s not the point...” came the reply.

You looked away, not wanting to hear the boy you wanted more than anything talking about his crush anymore. His crush that wasn’t you.

“I forgot something in my room,” you mumbled to Jean, “be right back,” and with that, you turned on your heel and power walked to your room so well, any suburban mother would be proud of you.

“Y/N!” Jean called after you, but you didn’t stop.

You sped to your bathroom, splashing cold water on your face to stop your cheeks from reddening. Gripping the sides of the sink, you looked into the mirror, seeing your e/c eyes gazing back at you.

“You’re better than this, Y/N. You’re better than this,” you repeated, jabbing a finger at your reflection, as if to drive the message home. This is the last time you’d let feeling for a boy make you act this way, you reasoned with yourself. Now get it together, you have ass to kick.

Later, as you were warming up and getting ready for whatever scenario was conjured up for you, Scott walked over.

“Hey Y/N” he said, amiably

“Sup, Scooter?” You asked, trying your best to remain nonchalant.

“Nothing much, Hank said he wants us all to pair up for this one,” he offered in reply.

“Oh. Jean’s talking to Ororo right now,” you said, glancing to where the redhead was nodding to something the storm bringer was saying.

“Yeah I know. Do you want to be my partner maybe? Since Jean’s not here,” he said.

“Oh so am I second choice now?” You joked, trying hard to keep your voice level.

“Oh what? No, I just thought you’d wanna be partners with Jean,” he responded, his eyebrows knit.

Now it was your turn to be surprised. You agreed to his proposal and got into formation when Hank gave the word.

Soon, the walls of the room faded away and you were surrounded by trees. You and your teammates stood in a deadly quiet hearing. You all tensed up, waiting for something to strike.

You glanced around, trying to see if you could spot something in the trees. Your ears strained as you focused, trying to catch any sound at all. Suddenly, you heard a branch snap to your left, followed but a ticking sound and a faint woosh of air. Your eyes widened as the realization dawned on you.

“Scatter and hit the ground!” You screamed. As you grabbed the nearest hand and ran.

In no time your teammates had scrambled and taken cover. Not a moment later, an explosion echoed where you had been standing only seconds before. The blast knocked you off your feet. You closed your eyes and braced for the fall and for the dirt and debris to hit, but when you opened them, you found that you were being shielded by Scott. It seemed at though you both became aware of the fact that your faces were inches apart at the same time. You both pulled away and he cleared his throat.

“Um, thanks,” you offended, as he pulled you to your feet. He merely nodded in response.

An hour and a half later, your team emerged victorious. Sweaty and gross, but victorious. After the simulation faded away, you went around giving high fives and congratulations to your teammates, when Jean’s voice echoed through your head.

“Scott wants to talk to you,” it said.

Confused, you scanned the room until you saw the corner he was standing in. As your teammates filed out around you, you made you way to him.

“Good job in there,” he said when you got there.

“Thanks. But I wouldn’t have if you didn’t save my life like ten times. Seriously, you’re way more of an asset than I am, next time just let me die” you joked.

“I’d never do that Y/N. I’d never let you die,” he said softly, as he brushed a loose stand of hair behind your ear.

“I know, I was joking, it was very brave if you though” you replied, your heart beating out of your chest.

“You think I’m brave?” He asked.

“Um, yeah is that a trick question? You’re like one of the bravest people here,” you replied, incredulous.

“I’ve never been brave enough to do this, though,” he said

“Brave enough to do wha—” but the word never made it out of your mouth, because he had just leaned forward to kiss you. It felt electric. His lips were soft and warm, and his hand came up to cup for face. He kissed you gently and if felt like an eternity later when he finally pulled away.

“I — what? But what about Jean?” You asked.

“What? What about her?” He replied, confused.

“I thought you liked her? The way you’re always saying hi to her and hanging around her in the danger room, I just assumed,” you started.

Scott laughed, “oh my god is that what you thought? No. No Y/N I hang around Jean so much because you’re always with her. I was always too scared to talk to you alone. Why would you think that?” He questioned, smiling.

“Well I dunno, Jean is the most powerful mutant here and she’s so badass and pretty and I’m just— I’m just insignificant compared to her,” you let out, looking down.

“Hey Y/N, hey,” Scott said, titling your chin up, all trace of mirth gone, “you are badass. you are pretty. And you are powerful. You worked so hard to get to where you are. Jean’s great, but she’s not you. Nothing about you is insignificant. The way your nose crinkles when you laugh. The way you make that little frown when you’re trying really hard to listen to something. Everything about you is beautiful and important. You wouldn’t be you without those things, Y/N,” he said, stroking your cheeks with his thumb.

“Wow, I had no idea you felt that way,” you breathed, touched by his words. “Did you mean it?” You asked, feeling like this was too good to be true.

“Every. Word,” he smiled, before pulling you back into another kiss.

“FINALLY!” Came a yell from across the room, startling you two apart. You looked over to see your friends whooping and cheering form the doorway.

Embarrassed, you turned and buried your reddening cheeks in Scott’s chest. He laughed, as he wrapped his arms around you.

“Like I said, I adore everything about you,” he whispered as he leaned down to your ear. You only hugged him tighter as a response.
