I'm planning on setting up an ask blog for my yandere ocs, do you have any tips for running a blog like that?

im not sure if im the best person to be asking about running an ask blog since im…frankly not doing a very good job at it, but i’m still happy to share some thoughts! take em with a grain of salt tho

I think one of the best things about running an ask blog is the collaborative aspect of it! As in, i dont often think of it as “people ask questions and i give answers” but rather “i am given prompts to deepen/ explore my characters”! So really its thanks to all the kind people who send asks to me to shape my ocs into who they are. this is kind of a horrible example but coke can Noel only became canon because of the whole small pp debacle LMAO Point is, i think it can be a fun way to figure stuff out along the way!!

With that said, its about a delicate balance of giving and withholding information. Sometimes im deliberately vague about key information to hopefully intrigue people into asking about it, eg: initially i only stated Noel has face-blindness but did not talk about how/when/why he got it or how that affects him. Once again, and fortunately, people were willing to engage with me and i get to release the lore organically bit by bit. This is not foolproof though, and you gotta lay down a foundation before others can build on it…i’ve received 100+ asks and not ONE person has asked about Kuuya’s right eye, but thats entirely my fault cause i never brought it up myself LOLL

Also i think its useful to diversify the type of content you put out! I originally planned to answer ALL asks with drawings but soon realised that was just impossible, hence i dabble in writing when im unable to draw. It also helps with burnout in general. Its a good way to keep up a regular posting schedule, which i find is very helpful in encouraging people to actually engage with you!

and lastly remember its your blog so its your rules babey!! go wild!! do whatever you want its literally your house. good luck and have fun!!

Why did you make this... "jlog"?

Career coaching has been something I've been doing for years. Call it some sort of weird ass side-hobby, like underwater basket-weaving.

Why should I listen to you?

You probably shouldn't lol. But if you must know, I have 18+ years experience working in a variety of industries and areas, including retail, staffing/recruiting, sales, higher ed., and the tech industry (focused on game development and customer experience), as well as a master's degree and a ton of student loan debt lmao.

I'm also an experienced hiring / people manager, if you care about that sort of thing, and I have a lot of experience reviewing resumes, and interviewing candidates for jobs.

Can I send you an ask about jobs and stuff?

Sure! Just keep in mind a few things:

I'm not an employment lawyer or HR generalist. I'm just very opinionated. If you send me an ask about legal or HR stuff, take my advice with a grain of salt and go see a lawyer or HR or something.

All I can really do is give advice based off of the information you give me. I don't always know the full context, so it is up to you to decide if any advice I give is worth taking or not lol.

Please don't send me asks with personal information, like dropping names of places you work, your coworkers' names, etc. I won't answer them - mainly to save your own ass. Would you want your boss or coworker to see that you name-dropped them on the internet? Probably not, so don't do it.

I don't know everything, and I might suggest some resources for you to look into. It's up to you to do the research after that, all I can really do is try to point you in a better direction.

What can I send you asks about?

Resumes / cover letters (please don't include personal info) - how to format, what employers look for, how to make your resume make it past those shitty Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), etc.

Interviews & job offers - what sort of questions to ask, how to approach interview prep, what not to do, general questions about salary negotiation and raises

When it comes to writing, it began with reading first. I read a LOT when I was younger, over a hundred books a year. I never limited myself and read all genres, going well beyond my reading level when I was in elementary / middle school, trying to find what I gravitated to and what writing style I enjoyed. A bit like a learning / training phase, I suppose. I started writing in high school (it was NOT good LMAO) but I kept doing it. It was my escapism and I needed it quite often growing up.

I also became interested in movies around late high school / university. As you might be able to tell from my writing, there's some heavy movie influences in the way I structure scenes that give it a visual, immersive aspect. I am always listening to music (for reasons other than writing too). I don't build a playlist; I listen to what would put me in the correct "feel" for the scene - think of it like a soundtrack for a movie.

(it's kinda funny, certain songs remind of my own writing and I end up enjoying them more because of the association XD)

So, anyway, now that you have some (too much? lol) background, here are things I think about when writing:

how the scene plays out visually - keeping consistency with clothing, hand movements, where the character is facing, etc

crutch words - all writers got 'em XD words you rely on to move the story along, but too much repetition without meaning can make the writing stale and unpalatable

word choice and phrasing of those words (syntax) - the actual words you are using are very important to indicate a mood, an action, or a character; don't just grab a synonym, make sure to look up the word and verify the meaning; ex, "looking" vs "glancing", the latter implying a quicker movement and could possibly indicate shyness or slyness depending on the situation

pacing - I think it's safe to say I have a very... unique way of pacing XD certain times I want a scene to feel fast or intense, I will use a lot of run-on sentences and pay a lot of attention to the order of the phrases, almost like a rap (similar to hip-hop montage in cinematography) and when I want something to feel slow (building tension), I will pull back and focus on specific details to frame the moment, ex. when you are hyperaware around your crush (*wiggles eyebrows*); this is specific to my style; for yourself, think about how you want the moment to feel and base your pacing around that

defining a character's personality - since this is a BTS blog, the characters are based on real people and therefore each member has personal ticks / habits that make you think of them, ex: "Seokjin flourished his hand to push his glasses up from the side", paying attention to these small things makes it feel more realistic and more tailored to that specific member (although this is all based on my personal observation so take it with a grain of salt!)

dialogue - how someone says something is indicative of what kind of person they are and the relationship between speaker and listener; ex. "I'm disappointed in your actions" vs "I am not happy with you", the former links the negative feeling with an occurrence, but the latter attacks the self and the receiver has a tendency to internalize the negative feeling

the "reader" sometimes has particular character traits and, in the context of this blog, I do this because they are important to the story itself; ex. 'journey' y/n is a bit chaotic af, "go with the flow", adaptable, and this is purposeful because idk how else I'm supposed to justify the reader banging all seven members LMAO

the balance of what is said and unsaid - different characters focus on different things and their POVs reflect that; what is written is deliberate for both the character and the reader, because I want you to know things at certain times and I even use "unreliable narrator" to mislead you, to make you think it's one thing but it's actually another ;)

The moral is... I do things very intentionally. XD Every action, every piece of dialogue, even the breaks between the sentences and paragraphs. I don't like to "waste" words. This is my preference (still think I could be better at it). The long stories / series are long because I feel like they need to be.

But, also, sometimes I feel I think too much... I'm trying to find some sort of balance to avoid getting into a perfectionist ideal. Therefore, I often see my writing as moments in time, i.e. how I felt when I wrote them. I rely on my intuition very strongly. Rarely do I feel the need to do heavy edits; it usually comes out best the first time (although the first time might take a few days, a month, a year, lol, it just depends).

Sometimes you just go back to the demo because it sounds the best even with some imperfections XD

When it comes to academics, I was excellent at them because I had to be (the kind of family where an A- it's equal to failure and failure had physical punishments). I did pick up a few things though.

Most importantly, find out what your teacher wants. Everybody has habits and tendencies, even math and physics teachers. If they're focusing on one specific section for a REALLY long time, chances it's on the exam (and probably a bunch of different variations of said equation / topic / etc). This helps you prioritize the bulk of your studying. If you miss one question because you forgot one tiny fact, that has a lot less impact than missing multiple questions on one topic that you forgot to study (yes, this is why you should attend class lol).

Second, make connections in whatever way works for you - flashcards, acronyms, associating specific topics with color-coded notes. Maybe you can't remember something right away, but other things can help you jog your memory. Keeping a consistent format of notes helps with forming links from one section to another.

(side note, you might find this really fucking weird but... oh well XD I was good at lectures because I'm very focused on the way people say things, their annunciation and movements while speaking. I had a tendency to remember these things while taking the exams - teachers / professors who write their own exams will also write the exam questions exactly how they say them in class.)

And third, when you reach the real world, know that nobody cares what your exact exam score was in World History or what you got on the Calculus midterm. Unless you need specific high scores to get a specific occupation, a bad score is not the end of the world. Work hard and do your best. It is okay to have other priorities and focuses. Your parents want you to get high grades because they want you to have a reliable source of income in the future, so as long as you work towards that, you're doing a good job.

My mindset towards goals and excellence... hmm, maybe this is where I lack, haha.

In a way, I have achieved my greatest dream already. For a long time, all I wanted was to live a life where I could be myself without the physical and emotional abuse I endured ever since I was born. It was a matter of life and death. I never thought about anything else but being financially stable enough to get out. Only within the last couple years have I realized that my dream was completed, leaving me with questions on what to do next.

I am not driven by money or fame. I don't think I have anything special or significant to contribute to the world. However, I am beginning to think that's not something I decide XD Others on the outside decide whether or not I am an important presence to them. I don't need to please everyone or keep their interest forever. People are their own beings. They will stay or move on based in their own reasons. I should simply to live up to the moral standards I have set up for myself and to try not to be a dick (despite the big massive dick energy I am carrying, oof, so heavy).

i’D HEARD IT WAS A REALLY BAD CHAPTER. this is a late response but MANGA READERS THAT ONE WEEK... we were all a mess (and no I haven’t watched but I’ve been recommended to do so quite a lot so I’ll hop on it soon!) 

Hmm!!!! I actually find a *shorter* first chapter is a good way to hook the reader without making them claw through too much writing to get a sense of what’s going on. Like, if I see a first chapter is reallllly long I sometimes have to do it to em, and scroll a bit to the middle to see what’s going on, and to double check that it’s a fic I want to take the time to read

1300 words isn’t too much though!!! Omg I’ve written much longer first chapters lmao. If you feel weird about it you can maybe find a good place to split that 1300 into two chapters?? But definitely make sure it’s split in a good place. It’s always good to leave the reader wanting more. If you can end on a short cliff hanger or a tense moment, that’s 10/10

That being said it would probably be wise to make the rest of the chapters of a similair average length. I’ve read fics that have shorter or longer chapters and it’s not bad (unless I’m grieving because it’s too short AND I REQUIRE MOREEE) but it might help you with actually planning your plot

I don’t really think Feitan is... so far removed from his emotions (Like Meruem) that he would really need to change that drastically for someone if he really liked them—that being said, he’s not going to change, either. If by change we mean he’s suddenly as enamored and endearing with them as Meruem is with Komugi... then I don’t think that’s going to happen regardless. We kinda see Feitan being a good and decently considerate comrade to the Troupe, so that would obviously extend to this girl/boy, maybe with a sliver of extra fondness if we’re talking romantically. But otherwise, Feitan seems like a “you get what you get” type of guy, that would inherently be *tender* with someone he liked, but not so tender that he’d have to have a whole philosophical/personality change

Ok now I’m confusing myself aksjdhfkjs. Basically:

Meruem had to like, undergo some existential shit to get where he was Komugi. I think Feitan already has the capacity to care for someone, even if his way of caring isn’t exactly rainbows and butterflies. So it’s not like he has to change. He just has to find the right person that doesn’t 1) get on his nerves and 2) get on his nerves enough that he’s gonna kill them

It’s been so long since I watched Psycho Pass or even looked into anything about it so pls take my thoughts with a grain of salt but:

I’m gonna say probably not? He’s one of those typical antags that have such strong ideals that... I don’t think even if the corrupt system was taken down he’d be entirely absolved of his ideals, or at the least, of the journey he’s taken in pursuit of those ideals. I don’t think a guy like him could ultimately settle down once the dust clears, and especially not with a lover or a family or anything like that. If he did want to lead a normal life it would probably be in seclusion

If the could change one thing, what would it be?

Luxu- Luxu hasn’t had anything happen to him that he’d consider changing (or at least not that he knows of) but being the selfless lil thing he is, he’d probably change the circumstances of the island just to see his dad and “Titi” (one of few titles he gives Nat) happy.

Oscar- Oscar would change his relationship with his brothers real quick. The two of them hold no ill will against their older brother but Oscar has a lot of internal regret for how he raised them despite not really having control on those circumstances. His awkwardness in approaching them just makes the whole air awkward, so he pretty much self-sabotages his chances of trying to settle things for himself.

Nat- God there is a LOT she would change if she could, but so many things are so fucking tangled up for her that changing one thing would mean altering her life severely and probably for the worst/less satisfactory than where it is now. She just kinda takes things as she can and copes (albeit horribly) with it. If she could change things no repercussion she’d throw her father out of the picture of her early life, considering he’s been the source of MANY issues for her.

Xoloet- Xoloet too would probably change the island’s current status, mostly because he misses being feared and respected by a large population and now is just seen as a pest by a handful of stinky humans and their partners. 

Do they believe in destiny?

Luxu- He’s still pretty young to try and grasp such a thing/worry about it, but if put in terms that he can understand he’d believe in moldable destiny-that you can choose your own path and see it through rather than be told that things are the way they are.

Oscar- Oscar’s been around for a very long time, but I think his view on destiny is what gets channeled into Luxu’s eventual mindset: you mold the future and your life despite the cards you’ve been dealt.

Nat- Nat believes in destiny for certain things, like relationships (romantic or other) and has a bit of a deeper understanding of destiny in the form of viewing it in the grand cosmic design and sort of contradictory (she’s a big nihilist-existentialist at times) of which can get summed up as “the universe is fucking chaotic and it was meant to be that way, so we can do what we feel’s right while we’re here”, which is very much something she’d say gfdjghd

Xoloet- He doesn’t believe in destiny, things happen because you let them happen or because someone else let it happen and you have to clean up their mess. There’s no such thing as callings for him, you either go and do something because you have the intrinsic drive or you simply don’t.

How do they react to criticism?

Luxu- Since he’s a kid and doesn’t have TOO much to be criticized about, he’d take anything with a grain of salt/wouldn’t be bothered. He just assumes that those who are criticizing him are just trying to help him get better at whatever it is he’s doing, and he’s sure to make em proud on that regard.

Oscar- He’s got his age to thank, but he takes it well. He’s very open minded (or tries his best to be) and takes different viewpoints without getting too worked up. Say it in a nasty way though and you’ll definitely hear back from him because he won’t take disrespect of any sort.

Nat- Nat can take critisism decently, depending on what it is, how it’s presented, and her emotional state. If she’s in a rather piss-poor mood her mind will warp things to view them as insults and absolute truths ex. getting told there’s a flaw in her battle strategy and her mind going “You’re a shitty battler how did you become a champion in the first place”. em i don't really know how i feel about this episode but i know that i usually agree with your opinions so if you don't mind, could you tell me where you're at emotionally speaking with the "problematic" moments from tonight?

oh yeah for sure but please keep in mind that it’s 4:45 am and i have not slept for one single second on this fine april evening

i will also qualify this by saying that i think everyone’s opinions are significant and not to be completely dismissed by those with differing opinions, and that sometimes people just Don’t Like A Thing. i am here to tell u that u should definitely take all of this with a grain of salt. if you disagree with me, that’s fine. if you disagree with me but can’t quite figure out why, that’s 100% valid and okay.

i’ll try to be brief, and i’ll be answering this with the understanding that there were three “problematic” moments in this episode: jake’s broad and sweeping “i’ve never wanted kids” statement, amy’s line about starting over, and terry’s whole scene talking to jake about not having kids.

jake is a very emotional person and has canonically reacted emotionally to situations before without taking the time to logically think through his options and the consequences of those options. the timing of his statement is particularly important in this scenario - he was unexpectedly put on the spot and made to have a very serious conversation on an evening in which he was in no way emotionally prepared to have such a conversation. he makes it clear at the beginning of the episode, his intentions are to have a lighthearted and fun evening catching up and laughing with amy, who he hasn’t really hung out with in a month due to their busy work schedules. him saying “i’ve never wanted to have kids” is a definitive statement - one clearly meant to end a conversation he didn’t want to be having in the first place, reflecting him kind of stubbornly clinging to the lightheartedness he intended for the evening. to me, it’s not only indicative of his tendency toward emotional responses to uncomfortable situations, but also one of his own sense of procrastination - another canon-confirmed aspect of his personality. it’s not the mature way to handle the situation, but it is very human, and based on my perception of who he is as a character, is in-line with who he is and how he handles things that make him uncomfortable.

which brings me to amy’s line. i won’t even lie i said “yikes” out loud as soon as she said it bc boy it made my heart hurt. but, again, the longer i thought about it the more it made sense. it was just as emotional of a response as jake’s “i’ve never wanted to have kids” was - hers cut deeper due to jake’s childhood and his own experiences with fatherhood. i need to word this carefully and my head feels stuffed full of cotton so hang with me here. up until this episode, we as a fandom seemed to universally accept the headcanon that jake Really Really wants kids specifically because of his throw-away comments that have been happening since season 1 - prior to him and amy even starting a relationship. based on the limited exposure we have to his dialogue, we inferred that he wanted kids. i don’t think it’s that outlandish for amy to have made the same assumption because of those very same lines. was it stupid to not sit down and have this conversation prior to getting married to ensure that they were on the same page? absofreakinglutely. but they’ve been dealing with major curveballs and setbacks from the very get-go that most Normal couples don’t have do really deal with - i think the more pressing issue for them was “we need to get married before jake gets wrongfully imprisoned or sent back to WITSEC again.” not to mention the road between halloveen and jake and amy was not exactly smooth sailing for the department as a whole. i think amy was pretty content with her assumption that jake wants kids since he hasn’t really done anything to stop charles from constantly dropping hints about it and always responds positively whenever there are kids around. so when jake hit her with “i’ve never wanted kids” i guarantee it landed like a punch to the gut and left her feeling ambushed, isolated, and extremely emotional (specifically the killer combination of angry/hurt/confused). her talking about starting over was just that, talk - born completely out of her emotional state, without any real consideration of the weight of her words and the effect they would have on jake.

(by the way, i think jake was also operating on an assumption about amy, considering she’s never directly talked about wanting kids in canon, and never specifically said “we should start trying for a kid” when she showed him the water park picture. again, a classic and honestly realistic representation of miscommunication between a married couple. amy “forcing” him to make a decision “right then” (which wasn’t actually right then, just faster than jake wanted to make the decision) was her heading off his tendency to procrastinate dealing with serious and uncomfortable situations. neither of them were mature or even in the right, but it all strikes me as realistic.)

the terry scene also makes a lot of sense to me. i think most people heard the “don’t have kids” part at the very beginning and were understandably ticked, but to me his main message was “don’t have kids unless you’re 100% sure” since it isn’t fair to the parents to have kids they don’t want, but it’s ESPECIALLY not fair to the kids, who did not ask to be brought into the world or to deal with (a) parent(s) who don’t want them. because parenting is hard work and it’s really not for everyone. terry isn’t trying to talk jake out of ever having kids, he’s just trying to ensure that if jake does decide to have a kid, he fully understands the gravity of that decision. EDIT: now that i’ve stood up/walked around/gotten blood flowing back into my brain, i also think terry was concerned about jake’s history of making rash decisions without thinking things through, which again plays into the “be 100% positive.” in terry’s mind, if there’s even a seed of doubt, it’s something that needs to be very seriously considered and discussed before making that decision. terry isn’t as privy to jake’s emotional state as amy is, nor is he as concerned with jake’s procrastination habits and the affect that has on amy’s ability to have kids further down the line. terry only knows a fraction of the situation and his advice was based on that fraction.

my only issue with this episode was that they didn’t really give the resolution to all of this enough time to resonate. i can kind of follow jake coming to the decision that he does want kids as he’s talking to…whatever the woman’s name was. pam? idk The Woman Who Tried To Blow Them Up, but i wish they’d dedicated more of that time to his conversation with amy after he diffused the situation. that part felt rushed to me, and i wish they’d done something similar to what @peraltasames wrote in her most recent fic. but otherwise, i did like this episode and i thought they did a good job creating a tense situation based on miscommunication without compromising anyone’s character to do so.

but again that’s just my opinion!!! opinions are entirely objective and based on personal perceptions and experiences so if you disagree with something i’ve said that’s 200% okay and you are entitled to that opinion but please be nice to me i’m extremely sleep deprived lmao

Buff have you got any crucible tips? I tend to avoid it as I'm about as good in clash as Asher is at emotions.

no but in seriousness, im guessing you’re asking this from a solo perspective so im gonna give you my solo view on things (highlight the text to not die):

be aware of your surroundings. there’s a lot of cover around every map for a reason. you should probably never be standing right out in the open, unless you’re baiting. to add to this, try and get a mod or an exotic that will let you have radar while ADS. it rly makes a world of difference.

know when to fold em. in my experience, the better you get and the more skilled players you encounter, the more you will find yourself in gunfights that go on for pretty damn long without either party killing the other. because you’ll both have learned when to shoot and when to hide and/or run.

pick the right subclass for yourself. i’ll always be an outlaw gunslinger at heart, and as great as the six shooter is in crucible, i do like to go in as a trapper nighstalker instead. the shadowshot CAN be clutch, but more often than not it’s completely useless. but the rest of the subclass (smoke bomb, invisibility, even the normal grenade) just works very well for my playstyle. so, don’t be afraid to try out different things and see what feels best for you.

get the heavy? idk i personally dont rly do that bc i like my primary/energy too much to wanna switch off of them lol but the truth is, whoever’s got the heavy has also got a few guaranteed kills.

funnily enough, try to stick with your team. not like glue or anything, but unless you see the perfect flanking opportunity, just stick with at least one teammate. teamshooting will never not work, lbr.

if you see someone on your radar, sitting around a corner? don’t go around that corner. they’ve got a shotgun and no dignity and they’re willing to prove both of this to you.

verticality babeyyyyyyyyy. jump over an enemy and they’ll be disoriented af 90% of the time bc the FOV in this game is just tragic. some ppl even say to just jump up very high when turning a corner bc this way the shotgun ape wont be able to shoot you. this is false however. dont do this. shotgun range is approximately 500 miles, and they won’t care.

learn the maps. this ties back into being aware of your surroundings but there’s a bunch of spots on maps that nobody rly thinks abt and you can get a bunch of cheap shots in. do you know how many times ppl have told me they’ve reported me for ‘camping’ in the lil window of that house at zone C on vostok? also, by knowing the maps, you’ll be able to predict better where the enemy actually IS once you spot them on the radar, and also where they’ll be going/coming from next.

learn to aim. you might think it’s better to aim for the body bc that way even if you miss you’ll still hit something, but the truth is it’s way better to miss 90% of your shots going for headshots for 6 hours and then seeing yourself improve in the 7th.

get the right loadout. this is trial and error more than anything. but the thing with destiny is that it will literally NEVER be a truly competitive game, since it’s a looter shooter. wanna know why you keep getting killed by Luna’s and Not Forgottens? it’s bc those guns are better. you didn’t die to that One-Eyed Mask wearing titan bc he outplayed you, he just had the better exotic. and no, it wasn’t your aim that was off, it was just the Nova Warp killing you through the wall because It Does That (even tho it shouldnt). so, get yourself some good gear. you can say ‘if you cant beat them, join them’ and get yourself a shotty and the wardcliff coil too, or you can say ‘the meta loadout isnt fun for me’ and try and find sth else that works. i think ive said this before but a lot of the time i choose a long range loadout bc it lets me keep my distance from shotties, 1HKO melees and mid range weapons, and as long as i can position myself correctly and flee when i need to, it works very well. so, at the end of the day, do try to find sth that is FUN for you too, otherwise there’s no point in playing crucible anyway.

uhhhh idk. is this helpful? full disclosure, ive been losing more games than ive been winning lately, and i wont even pretend that it was all on my random teammates, so take it all with a grain of salt lmao. i’m a slightly above average player probably and thats all. also no matter how good or bad you are, you will always be better with a team bc thats just the way this game is. but again, if thats not how you wanna play then dont force yourself to. it wont be fun.

ALSO these are all from a quickplay perspective! comp is kind of a whole other story. tho basically, in comp, just make sure to stay alive. that is legitimately the most important thing as a solo player, since you’ll be able to still play the objective or revive teammates etc even if youre the last one standing. it requires a lot more awareness and ‘calmer’ play than quickplay, plus some more coordinated work, so you’ll also have to be able to be a teamplayer, even if youre not using mic and all that (most ppl in comp dont enter voice channel anyway lol). idk, i’d stay away from comp anyway. as a wise random on the internet once said ‘comp is a shitshow, get luna’s and then get the fuck outta there’

and lastly, there’s a subreddit called r/crucibleplaybook which probably has ACTUAL advice and is way more helpful but i wouldnt know bc reading is for nerds so ive never actually looked into it

but like studio p is all about taking hinata and making her fanservice for no goddamn reason. she was shy to a sometimes comical point in the manga, but like nowhere near the level studio p does it. and her chest gets waaay more attention and its just sooo uncomfortable

by contrast studio p doesnt rly seem to like sakura much at all and thus actually. flattens her chest lol it’s really fucking weird. like any amount of emphasis on these teenage girls’ boobs is just unsettling like its normal to have em obv but enough attention to change their size is so weird fdkhgkdfjh

okay if you're already through the game i don't really have a lot to say, haha,, they were all like. basic getting-off-the-ground tips about baiting and striking between enemy attack animations/ balancing them with your own :x

but yeah that section's kind of a bitch; it was the last 8-lock area i cleared on ng+

all i can really say for that specifically is Bring A Gun; they’re almost all useful in different ways for that section- i recommend the basic peashooter for getting plenty of quick shots on the swooping birds, and the Big Fucking Gun from the south 8-locked area as it will oneshot those irritating elder magician guys.  the green laser gun can be useful if you want to fry a couple before they get too close, and the scatter will do if you’re willing to wait for them to get a bit closer  [you won’t need to aim much, but that’s Dangerous so i don’t recommend it and also i just kinda hate the scatter gun]. i can see the tracker/ricochet one from the east being overall useful just to take out a cloud of enemies if too many pile up[again, with minimal aiming], but since they all have low hp the energy ball one is just a slightly less effective green laser so don’t use that probably, unless you prefer its hitbox size or something :u

the main thing with this fight, as with most in the game is DO NOT LET THEM PILE UP.   the big platform isn’t much of an issue i’m sure, but after it splits, stick by the edges so the swoopers will target you faster, and as soon as you see a one flash to signal its attack, face toward it and intercept it on the edge of your platform as it comes down. there are a LOT of birds coming at you, but they actually don’t come in faster than the preceding one’s can execute its first attack, and you can take them out in sequence. even the ones that come in sets will usually all target you at once, so you can kill like 3 with one slash [or laser them]. for ones you can’t move toward quickly enough, a quick peashooter shot will keep them at bay [personally i always stick to the bottom right corner bc their targeting seems more inconsistent on the top one but take that with a grain of salt]

shoot the big magicians AS SOON as they spawn [you probably knew, but they have NO spawn invincibility; you can kill them before their spawn animation even finishes]. with the Big Fucking Gun you should be able to obliterate both of them before they get to attack and other birds spawn in. that alone will save you a hell of a lot of manic dodging

for the smaller magicians, you can just...do whatever you’d already been doing to get through them. laser gun, ricochet/tracker gun, and to a lesser extent the energy orb shooter all work wonders on them, but if you’re not packing any of those i’d just zoom around to get away from the mob until a few decide to hop over to you. when they come to you, just hit ‘em dead before they finish their landing and attack animation and zoom around some more.

also, if you have the white gear set, the reduced melee combo cooldown from that can be a lifesaver here
