I firmly believe that epsilon and carolina should've been included in the "omg we caused the ship to crash" gag. no idea what their contribution to the bit would be, but I feel it was a missed opportunity to NOT showcase agent 'dad jokes' carolina being a little silly

man I love watching halo lore videos talking about the differences between bungie canon and 343 canon because it adds a completely new layer of understanding to rvb.
for example; in bungie's halo an ai experiencing rampancy is an ai realizing its sentience and gaining true freewill—aka, they become human.
in 343 canon this is obviously not the case, and an ai experiencing rampancy is degrading into non functionality rather than transcending from the limitations of their original programming.
both forms of rampancy involve the ai "going crazy", but it's so interesting to see how these lore changes are reflected towards the ai's in rvb. with burnie and matt returning I wonder if epsilon's rampancy is going to reflect bungie's lore instead of 343's, and if his degradation in function will instead be attributed to the fact that he's always been an unstable ai fragment whose functionality has always been questionable?

all this buzz about "canon grimmons!!!" is giving me war flashbacks to pre s15 when joe or jason said they were going to make grimmons canon in s15 and then never delivered...

wash tormenting the reds in the most petty ways possible because he's still pissed off about them hitting him with a car and then blowing him up in s8 is so important to me you don't even understand

you know a neat little bit of subtle world building I've always liked in the recollection trilogy + freelancer saga (that gets forgotten about in later seasons) is how the bgc + the freelancers (sans ct and lina) were the only characters to wear mark VI (or in caboose's case mark V) helmets. all other freelancer personnel and the UNSC in those seasons either wore ODST armor/helmets or marine armor, and idk I just think it was a neat little detail that showcases some level of consistency with the greater halo canon.

I think saying that wash should've been more involved in ct's arc in s10 is possibly a controversial take, but I stand by it. like it would've slapped so hard to have wash and ct have a scene together that paralleled york and carolina's scene at the end of s10 (because I'm so mad the wash/lina parallels never went anywhere despite them clearly being set up to do so).
york and carolina fell apart because they didn't communicate, and they both assumed the other would always be by their side and stand by them. it was messy and emotional and neither of them ever got over the other.
wash and ct did communicate, and they didn't have a sudden falling out. they slowly drifted apart and they both had an understanding of the others' motives and what was driving the choices they made. neither of them were happy about the outcome, but they both understood that it wasn't personal.
ct's speech to lina and tex in s10 would've hit so much harder if it had been said to the person she had been trying to convince to see the truth all of s9, not the person who told her to "watch her mouth" at the mere suggestion of the director doing something questionable. a last ditch attempt to get the one person she knows would join her if she just had a little more time—
unfortunately for ct, her gamble on tex had yet to come to fruition, and wash, while willing to listen and planning on apprehending her so they could talk, couldn't stop tex from using lethal force.
also yall know a wash and ct knife fight would've been sick to watch.

I need you all to know that whenever I get there ct is going to go to town making fun of the leader and his obsessive hatred of tucker. he never shuts up about the guy and she pulls a "damn you're really enamored with him, should I be concerned as your girlfriend that you're falling out of love with me? :("
he is appalled and disgusted—not over the implication of being gay, but specifically because it's tucker.
"connie, I cannot stress to you enough how much I hate this guy. I want him dead, D-E-A-D!"
"oooh an enemies to lovers trope!"
"STOP!"

the noncanon s9 trailer as a whole is very serious, but the idea that wash and maine would have gotten their asses beat by sim troopers on multiple occasions had the outposts not been first established until after the break in is unbelievably funny. these big bad freelancers are more interested in fucking around and goofing off during what is supposed to be a Very SeriousTM simulation exercise and it comes back to bite them so hard, and yall already know that the other freelancers would make sure they never lived it down.

She's done hundreds of ops just like it, and was more than confident in her ability to get the job done alone considering she'd be dealing with civilian security.
Apparently Hargrove didn't feel the same way.
“Woah, woah, wait a minute—your codename is actually Connecticut? Like…the state of Connecticut?” The lanky marine asked, laughing when she didn't reply. “What, do you have 48 buddies named after the rest of the states? Is your boss Washington D.C?”
Connie clenched her fists by her side and grit her teeth in annoyance—over both his constant chattering, and how on the nose he was. Normally by now she would have said something, but for whatever reason she really didn't want to give this man the satisfaction of knowing he was getting to her. He gave her the same feeling York did when he was stressed and lost all social tact, though he was nowhere near as charming and endearing.
God, she missed him—missed all of them.
She was cut off from her thoughts by the strong, silent one clearing his throat.
“Since you're leading this operation Agent, what's our plan?”
Ah, right.
She still didn't like that she, of all people, was in charge here. She was the screw up, she had no leading capabilities, and for all intents and purposes wanted to keep it that way.
If only Wash or Carolina was here. Hell, she'd even take North or J.D in this situation.

nobody understands wash/south friendship. anyone not in the know thinks they hate each other, but they don't. sure, they think the other is the single most annoying person in the known universe, but when push comes to shove, they're an okay team so long as they both understand that things are going to become extremely chaotic, they will be screaming at each other non stop, and as the guy who's really, really good at getting out of bad situations where death is almost certain alive, wash (generally) takes point.

do yall ever think about how weird wash's fight scene in s12 is? specifically, that moment where he does that sideways flip while shooting (I believe) at felix? like wash is an enjoyer of combat rolls, my man is always rolling, but that one flip is a flashy, and dare I say, unnecessary move for wash to use.
I also find it interesting that they had him use his sidearm instead of his battle rifle, since in previous cqc situations wash has always used blades or blade like objects such as the epsilon unit. the only times I recall him using a magnum off the top of my head is when he shot south in s6, when he shot donut in s8, and when he threatened carolina in s10. if wash busting out his magnum, it's always symbolic of him letting some part of his personal feelings guide his actions, because shooting someone with a sidearm meant for close range is more intimate than using his primary mid/long range weapon.
this was obviously not the case in the s12 fight, and they probably did it just because it looked cool, but idk that's my random wash thought of the day.

J.D felt horrible about it, but with everything that had happened the last few months—Hell, the last few years—He had admittedly somewhat forgotten that Terrence existed.
Looking through Connie’s data, dealing with corporate civilian bureaucracy, and being “demoted” into doing menial grunt work aboard the Staff of Charon has taken up the bulk of his time since returning from Longshore, so he hasn't gone to visit the guy and offer morale support during his grueling physical therapy sessions in quite a while.
Apparently, having a building collapse on top of you and needing surgical reconstruction of a large portion of the bones in your body really, really sucked.
J.D mentally grimaced at the prospect of speaking to the temperamental man. He had been waiting to tell him about their team until he was officially discharged from medical, and only after Sharky came to terms with the loss would he even think about introducing Connie into the mix. The man's hatred of the Freelancers was, understandably, incredibly intense.
He loved Sharky, he really did, and he wouldn't trade him for anyone else, but Terrance could be annoyingly stubborn and overly dramatic, and a lack of any semblance of a proper chain of command didn't make his job any easier. The guy just didn't respect his experience and skill as an ODST like the others did, which was beyond frustrating at times.
(God, what a mess). He sighed, bringing a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose.

I've always thought it was so funny that the fandom decided to make ct the smallest and shortest freelancer lady when she's canonically taller than carolina
