I think saying that wash should've been more involved in ct's arc in s10 is possibly a controversial take, but I stand by it. like it would've slapped so hard to have wash and ct have a scene together that paralleled york and carolina's scene at the end of s10 (because I'm so mad the wash/lina parallels never went anywhere despite them clearly being set up to do so).

york and carolina fell apart because they didn't communicate, and they both assumed the other would always be by their side and stand by them. it was messy and emotional and neither of them ever got over the other.

wash and ct did communicate, and they didn't have a sudden falling out. they slowly drifted apart and they both had an understanding of the others' motives and what was driving the choices they made. neither of them were happy about the outcome, but they both understood that it wasn't personal.

ct's speech to lina and tex in s10 would've hit so much harder if it had been said to the person she had been trying to convince to see the truth all of s9, not the person who told her to "watch her mouth" at the mere suggestion of the director doing something questionable. a last ditch attempt to get the one person she knows would join her if she just had a little more time—

unfortunately for ct, her gamble on tex had yet to come to fruition, and wash, while willing to listen and planning on apprehending her so they could talk, couldn't stop tex from using lethal force.

Not Alzheimer's, Parkinson's!!! He played a character with Alzheimer's, but in real life he has Parkinson's. I think late-stage Parkinson's can include dementia, but it's primarily a physical neurodegenerative condition, and he doesn't seem to be very advanced (based on what he's shared and what symptoms are visible in his public appearances). Catching it early helps, and he did, because of his dreams.

The story is he read an article that acting out your dreams (e.g. in the movie he's dreaming of wrestling a tiger, and really pushing his wife around the bed) can be an early warning sign of Parkinson's, so he went to a neurologist and asked for a CT scan, and the neurologist was kind of skeptical but he turned out to be right. I can't remember where I first heard this story, because he's talked about it a few times, but it probably comes up in the episode of Clear and Vivid with Michael J Fox (which is also very very good). In that episode it sounds like he might have had some other mild symptoms too, so I'm not sure if he went to the neurologist just based on the dreams thing, but that was part of it.

I think he probably acts out his dreams in Betsy's Wedding because he does/did in real life (that's how he is) so was probably doing it back in the 90s, and he didn't get diagnosed until... idk 2011ish? something like that. He wasn't public about it for a few years afterwards (something he also talks about with Michael J Fox).

Most of the roles he's been in since have just ignored it, but they wrote it into Ray Donovan and he actually had to fake symptoms because the character progressed past where he was at in real life.

Also he said his doctors will just assume he's already seen studies because he's always doing science stuff and he's like can you maybe explain this actually.......

New Character/s: Mel: Melody (Fa's girlfriend), Cl: Collin (C's personal driver)

Ofc there are other family members as well but i will include them whenever they actually play a bigger part in the story parts. I highlighted the 2 names since there aren’t many colors I Could choose from lol. So that’s why I picked the current most important ones

At the big kid's school

Br saw C's message in the morning. She thought that he was going to apologize to her on a coffee date. She was very pleased with herself, thinking that he had a change of heart. Maybe even resume their relationship as it once was. In other words, him being the nice timid boy she knew, and she could ask for anything if she acts sweet. She would try to take advantage of his 'guilt' to see how sorry he was. Even bragging about it to her friends at their lunch table. Some of her goons asked if she is going to date him. As much as she likes to think of him as a cute boy, he wasn't her type. She was more into his actor friend, Fa. The girls giggled to themselves.

Fi & Br used to date for a short time but the girl broke up with him bc she felt bored after some time dating her childhood friend. Fi felt defeated for quite some time but hasn't stopped trying to get back with her. Which would have become pretty difficult since he was now studying at a school where his parents work nearby. He had to take over their work eventually so thats why he only gets to visit them every once in a while.

Br was considering his confessions but always turns him down every time. But she was promising him that she might be his Gf when they finish school. But since meeting the cool and easygoing Fa, she couldn't pass off this opportunity. Sure, he was working for a kids' show, but he was still one of the most popular boys in school.

If rumors would go around of them dating, her popularity of being N & Ct's daughter would just increase. She learned from her mother that status is one of the biggest rewards they could have aside from finding love. So that's why she was striving to be the new rising star in her circle and find her true prince charming.

A few tables away, C was eating with his pals, goofing around. Fa's phone started to ring and quickly picked up the phone. He started to talk all sweet and nice. Which was not like him when he was around his friends.

The Ferguson boy then remembered that in one episode, his character had a gf. So he began teasing him out of boredom. Fa was astounded that his buddy knew about this character. C eventually admits that he started to watch it after his lil brother begged him to watch the show.

He liked it but it wouldn't be on the top of his recommended watch list anytime soon. The table laughed and the rest began to tease their Actor friend as well.

C mentioned passingly that he used to watch a different kid's show. Ultraman. To which Fa scoffed at him: „That old dinosaur? Please, they have been Competing against us from the start. They realized they were losing their audience to our show, so they try every kind of movie trope in the book to keep the old fans to themselves.“

Thinking back, C was a big fan of the superhero show. But as Fa said, the franchise has been slipping in popularity. Meanwhile, the fantasy adventure was skyrocketing in the media. Some adults seem to enjoy it as well. The demographic stayed for the kids still.

Fa's character was supposed to stay single throughout the show. The producers changed it sometime later after meeting his real partner, Melody (Mel). Being offered a tryout, Mel was unsure of herself from the start. She was a jewelry designer. Not a movie star. But the ppl loved her performance so much that they begged the couple to let her play a character.

It took some time but Mel started to like the atmosphere and the cartoon itself. She usually records her lines at home so that she could still work on her designs. It takes a lot of effort to get her lines just right but she was happy to help her S.O. in any way.

She agreed to keep playing her character if she stayed anonymous. She wanted to be known for her accessories. She hasn't gotten a huge following yet. But her family supports her to reach her goal.

Another boy on their table asked how a C has still not asked anyone out yet. His response was: „If you would have asked 8-year-old me, I would have had a girl in mind. But now I am just trying to get my grates as good as possible.“

Br would have been an easy choice at the beginning, but like all things in life, people change. And after hearing about the breakup between her and Fi, he certainly was glad to be over the small crush that he had for her.

After school ended, C ordered his driver today to get him to the coffee house. While they drove, C and his driver, Collin (Cl), talked over some basic things from today. He was a middle-aged guy with a slim build to go with his resizing hairline. E hired a driver for his son so that he could go anywhere if he needed to. His background was clean and his recommendations coming from his previous clients had the CEO finally let to hire him.

C and Cl got along pretty well, and the man had always some good advice if he was asked.

Finally arriving at their destination, C tells Cl to wait for him to bring him home. As he entered the building he could already see his cousin sitting with an iced coffee, reading something on her phone.

Finally meeting at the table, they went down to business. Disappointingly for the girl, he was NOT talking with her for an apology but to warn her. Advised that the next time he sees her brother or his pal at any event/party they were hosting or attending, he would make sure that they would be alienated by the people around them for anyone's safety.

Really depends on what we're studying. If it's my current major, that could be kinda funny. Making short films with these constraints and pretty much no budget is insane, and I'm even more so. Great writing. Nothing wrong with some smut if it's really good, no need to be prudish. And honestly, if the normie friend is REALLY against it, I could just create a censored version for them and snip out the smut scenes.

To be honest, I don’t think I have a solid grasp of a single character in the series. There are tons of panels I can’t quite comprehend just yet. I’ve been able to make these long analyses only because I love overanalyzing everything.

As for the gojohime antis, I’m absolutely terrified of them LOL. You can throw all the logic you want at them but it won’t matter. It’s okay! People can ship whatever they want as long as it’s not morally wrong 👁👁 I just wish they would accept that too. I don’t expect this ship to be canon but it’s fun shipping them, you know? It takes away from the pain………😔

I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS TOO.  They probably met during the Goodwill Event.  I remember they’re supposed to do individual battles every year (Gojo changed it to baseball because he doesn’t like routines) so maybe that’s why Gojo keeps calling Utahime weak?  Perhaps her performance during the individual battles was amusing to him?  

(I have a headcanon about how the whole “you’re weak!” thing started.  It’s angsty >:))

It’s also really funny how Gojo is listed as Utahime’s main source of stress even though they live hours away from each other.  It makes me wonder what he does to annoy her so much.  Constant calls?  Blowing her phone up with texts?  Frequent visits?

I see Gojo initially being undecided. He comes from a rich family, filled with lawyers, doctors, and politicians so he figures that he’ll probably be like his dad and become an attorney and join the family firm, maybe run for office one day. And he’s incredibly good at charming people, so he doesn’t really doubt himself when he ends up declaring as political science (also seem him doing international relations).

But when he takes some random seminar for his graduation requirement and is paired up with Suguru for a project, he starts questioning his life choices when this strange dude with funky bangs asks him, “Do you actually like your major, or do you think you like it because you’re good at it?”

This compels Gojo to minor in physics (I hc him as a physics/math whiz bc of his CT LOL)

Geto

Ever since he was a child he’s had to care for his parents and twin sisters, particularly his mother who has a chronic illness. It’s a silly thing to think of years later, but when he was younger he always wondered if there was a way to simply eliminate diseases, something that could strengthen all humans so they would no longer have to suffer

So it’s no surprise when Geto declares a STEM-related major, his interest in biotech growing by the second as he joins a research lab

He meets Shoko in a chemistry teaching lab. They’re partners, although Geto does most of the work (he doesn’t mind when Shoko cheats off him during biochemistry exams, she’ll learn biochem again during med school anyway)

Shoko

I see her as a chemistry or biochemistry major, pre-med track but she’s not a toxic pre-med

Just a STEM queen

Nanami is a business major but he secretly wants to major in literature or history

Megumi is a veterinary science student, no ifs ands or buts

Nobara is an engineering major, I’d go into a more specific field but my brain is terrified of engineering so I’ll stop here😁😁

i've learned a new tactic while writing this fic in which i take throwaway details i like and make them plot-relevant, so i'll try to skirt around anything that will end up being relevant in the future LOL without further ado:

1. this one combines my daily beef with jk/r — when i first wrote james and lily running into each other in diagon alley in 33, i went back and read that prequel story she wrote in which sirius and james get away from muggle cops. of course it was like, a story she handwrote for charity or something so one cant expect it to have a ton of consistency, but GOD does it piss me off that james and sirius are wearing shirts with "a large golden bird" on them. i'm going to try and say this nicely

the marauders would probably think it's really funny to make some, actually, but in the timeline it's too early for them to even know about the order, i'd think. so i decided to resolve my anger in a healthy way, by turning it into a random t-shirt james buys off this guy in diagon alley in ch. 37. take that, joanne

2. damocles belby, who goes on to invent wolfsbane potion, is in diagon alley in 39 for this:

He had a prestigious apprenticeship with an Irish potioneer who was very particular about her ingredients. And he couldn’t blame her; brewing potions was a delicate business. Stale ingredients had ruined their research last week — he and his mentor studied potions of transformation, ways of counteracting Transfiguration through draughts instead of counterspells.

3. blishen's and ogden's being different in composition, and sirius being bad enough at potions that he didn't stop to consider if that would affect the marauder mix in 37. idiot <3

4. speaking of potions, i had lily and snape paired to brew philiatonic, a potion that "inspires friendly devotion." LOL. and then i had slughorn commend them on adding something called "essence of verite," and verite obviously implies truth...... considering how much dishonesty there was in their friendship, one has to laugh about that being snape's idea!

5. also speaking of potions, one could argue this is a throwaway detail that still establishes character, but:

“If you ask me, it’s stupid that we learn to brew these,” Sirius said, merrily stirring his potion in the wrong direction. “They’re literally banned. They’re dangerous substances. And they teach us how to make them? That’s just a recipe for trouble.” “You’d think that’d make you more enthusiastic about it,” said James as he counted stirs under his breath. “You can’t even use this for entertainment. It’s cheap and below-the-belt.” On that count, James agreed. What was the point of Amortentia? It was fake, anyway, and veered too close to compulsion for his liking. [...] “Dad thinks love potions are rot,” said James by way of agreement.

and

“What is it, pray tell?” “Ah, sir, you’re the one who told us about Felix Felicis. Surely you know what it looks like.” [...] “And why did you feel this was the answer to the problem I posed to you at the start of class?” “Well, Felix does solve your problem,” James said, sounding absolutely earnest. “I reckon if you wanted to slip someone a love potion — a pretty shit choice, pardon me, sir—” a twittering wave went around the classroom; Slughorn only hummed “—what you really need is the courage to ask them the right way. So, Felix Felicis for luck.”

in point of fact, i'm sure you all think that whole amortentia scene fakeout was horribly rude of me but it ALSO has tons of little flower language easter eggs that i will leave to those interested :)

14. If you could change one thing about the Star Wars universe, what would it be?

I would immediately change Obi-Wan giving Luke to his Aunt and Uncle and instead keeping him to raise as his own. I wish there was like an AU, non-canon comic or something that would explore this, because the potential for angst and Dad!Obi-Wan is just,,,,,,I need it.

Ahsoka Tano! I love her to death and will fight anyone who would dare harm her

37.  Opinions on the Jedi?

I think the Jedi had good intentions but somewhere along the line, they lost their way and were stuck between a rock and a hard place. I think they became too disconnected from the citizens they were meant to serve and were trapped under control of the Senate and Chancellor. Too many rules and too terrified of the dark side and attachments didn’t help either. 

BUT, that doesn’t mean I think they needed to be slaughtered. I agree with Luke in that the old Jedi way needed to end, but, I wish the Jedi Order would have survived to make those changes themselves, if that makes sense? 

40.  If you could make your own Star Wars trilogy/series, what would it be about?

Okay since I answered this one already, I’ll answer your other question instead! So I don’t read a lot of sequel trilogy stuff unfortunately, as my main focus within the Star Wars fandom is clones and the clone wars era. BUT, under the cut I’ve included some of my favorite fics at the moment~ 

Who We Are Alone by raemanzu and spica_tea

Really well done three part fic about Cody and Rex trying to survive a training mission gone horribly wrong. There are some graphic injuries and quite a few deaths but I think the authors did an awesome job of creating this realistic, gritty, and heart-pounding story about two brothers trying to survive a training mission from hell. Also deals with ideas like how much is one clone really worth and how far should one go to save another. It’s just really good, lol. 

epsiloneridani ( @jate-kara ) gets her own section because she is AMAZING. One of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and probably one of the best writers contributing to this fandom. All of her stuff is worth a read, but some of my biggest favorites are Vode An, and death, and life, the anchor, and hold tight. But again, all of her stuff is of the highest quality and I really encourage y'all to check her out!

This is a work in progress BUT ITS AMAZING. The clones are ghost, and Finn is the only one who can see them. There are so many tender, angsty moments as Finn begins to learn more and more about his ghostly friends and the clones start to treat Finn as one of their own. 

Now for a super NSFW but extremely well done Obi-Wan / Reader fic that is so sinful your grandma is gonna need to pray a little extra. The Locked Door by  guardianangelcas is uh,,,well,,,,it’s spicy. It’s top tier porn with plot. Be warned, it’s tags include Fuck or Die so if that ain’t your thing (and there is no shame in that! we all like different things) then I’d skip out. But yah its really good~

wash being ct's best and closest friend in freelancer is so so important to me. they're the kind of friends that can stay up all night together talking and sharing stories, but they can also spend hours together in complete silence just enjoying each other's company. they share things about themselves with each other that they don't share with anyone else. ct finds a solace in wash that she's never found in anyone else; because he feels just as deeply, openly, and honestly as she does. she admires his more subtle nature, and inversely wash admires her own bold defiance. ct gets so angry with him because she's angry at herself—angry that she can't be more like him, angry that she can't tell him all of what she's learned because it's no secret that they're close and she knows that price knows she knows and and and—

so ct takes a page from wash's book, she tries her hand at speaking his language. she let's him see her making calls because she knows that he'll never turn her in, because just like her wash puts protecting those he cares about above the rules. wash is smart, so she knows that he'll understand that she's trying to protect him—to protect all of them, just like he's protecting her.

leaving them, leaving him, is a painful but necessary decision. she fights to stay for as long as she can even though she can feel price and the director closing in. she wants nothing more than to bring him with her. every time she speaks with the leader she finds herself thinking about how well he'd get along with wash, he's cryptic, melodramatic, and just a little bit paranoid in all the same ways. maybe that's why she fell in love—because he reminds her of wash without being wash, who always kept a certain level of distance from the people around him. she'd seen his service record—he'd seen so many people die over the years that he learned how to love without getting to attached; otherwise, the guilt and grief would drive him insane. ct hoped that she wouldn't become another lost friend, but if she did, she found comfort in knowing that he would be able to move forward without her.

Shadowbringers Theories~

Obviously spoilers for up to the end of Patch 4.56, but feel free to share, comment, endorse, or debunk my theories--I'm by no means an expert regarding XIV Lore, and I'm interested in hearing others' thoughts!!

[Note: Raha is referring to G'raha Tia of the Crystal Tower storyline--I know that there's another NPC from a different tribe with the name 'Raha'--but G'raha is my favorite character and I feel comfortable using his name without the tribal prefix, so please bear with me~]

Fact:

During the CT raid storyline, NOAH finds out from Unei and Doga(clones made from allagan tech) that somehow Xande--hell bent on world domination--was informed (*cough* Ascians) of a dark power that he could wield and make a deal with so forms a covenant with Cloud of Darkness, Queen of the Void (which we now know from Unakahlai(sp?) is the 13th shard).

With such a massive power source and countless other technologies hidden in the Tower, Raha seals himself in stasis until "to greet those with the means to OPEN THE GATES."

Theory:

Raha is the hooded person whose hand is crystalized in the trailer, as he's the only one left on the Source that can control the Tower (translation: he's the speaker the trailer?? God that would be fucking awesome, even though it sounds like Arbert (in Eng)... Raha having such a cool voice would be an absolute dream~~)

Fact:

Crystal Tower was a structure made by the Allagans to absorb solar energy, and it fell to ruin after it became overloaded and forced Amon to freeze the Tower in stasis as it was swallowed up.

The WoL and Raha are only able to traverse between worlds (to the Void) because they utilize the power of the Crystal Tower to open up a portal--something that at that time(with Cid's help) could only be sustained temporarily.

Theory:

The Crystal Tower is reopened and utilized to open a portal to the First (and perhaps later other shards), just like when WoL and Raha went into WoD, but idk with a better power source to make it sustainable lol someone borrow hrasvelgrs(sp?) eyes, or perhaps the Hooded Figure uses some of his aether(hence his crystalization), or some other shit (shrugs) Oh what if they just used Elidibus as a battery so Zenos can get his body back AND they're rid of the Ascian?

Fact:

The Echo takes many forms and as we've learned can be transferred into other beings via more... morally questionable methods (see Krile, Fordola, and Zenos). The power can range from visions of past memories, to innate understanding, to transcending language, to being sensitive to changes in aether that allow for ehnanced fighting and predicting attacks/movements (see Fordola attacking Alisaie and how WE, as WoL are able to see AoE marks and other damage indicators in battle).

The Allagan/Royal Eye Raha possesses has been passed down his bloodline but originated when Princess Salina used Allagan technology to transfer her blood/power to Raha's ancestor.

Raha becomes an Archon(neck tattoos) after demonstrating an astounding amount of knowledge and history regarding Allag

Theory:

Raha possesses with a form of the Echo, one passed down from that first G Tribe member who gained the trust of Princess Salina. His 'echo' gives him an abnormal, almost uncanny insights into Allagan studies (even stated by him once that he "just seems to know" or "have an affinity" for anything related to Allag), but gains power when in contact with the Crystal Tower, and then later Unei and Doga. He ends up having headaches (similar-ish to the ones WoL gets before visions), one even being at nearly the same time as WoL's Echo(when they see into Unei and Doga's past) and most importantly, the pain he experiences is followed by him gaining knowledge ane understanding of the tower, his fate, and the goal of his ancestors.

It would also explain how Raha is associated with Krile, the Students of Baldesion, and the Circle of Knowing/Path of the Twelve/Scions (as shown by the tattoo on his arm), as all mentioned parties were related closely to the Echo, its origins, and its abilities.

Also, Raha is a (not-so-secret) back-up Scion :D (I KNEW he would have more importance because of those tattoos, all my friends were WRONG and owe me frozen yogurt >:P

Fact:

The Crystal Tower is prominent in the First, and ShB has shown the areas around it to be various towns near a lake (lake is possibly Lake Silvertear in Mor Dhona, geography matches well enough)

Theory:

The First didn't have a Calamity that swallowed up Crystal Tower and the Kingdom around it like the Source--maybe this is the kingdom of prosperity and "LIGHT" that the Allagans were trying to create, but it is realized in this world (a world that is almost completely overwhelmed by light)

Fact: WoL and other NPCs with strong enough aetheric powers can teleport to anywhere that they've attuned their aether to. From that information, one can deduce that all the aether in the world is connected like a LifeStream (this is also pretty much stated in that post-ARR cutscene where Minfilia is explaining Ascians with what's basically a slideshow).

Theory: The world's aetherytes are all powered by Crystal Tower, like it's the motherboard of teleporters or something lol... Perhaps Allagans were the ones to create the technology allowing people to teleport (if there's any history of teleportation being used before Allagans, then obvs this theory is debunked, but I don't remember enough about the science of it to prove myself wrong otherwise)

Week 10: Social Gaming

Do you consider yourself a gamer? Or have you ever heard of games like Dota, Mobile Legends, or even the Facebook game Tetris Battle?

What is social gaming?

Social gaming is a game industry term for video games played on social networking services like Facebook. However, social gaming doesn’t happen only at Facebook. The term only emphasizes the role of Facebook to distinguish social games from other video games without a social element. Therefore, we can say that social gaming are online games where people create and maintain friendships (Jarvinen 2011).

Impact of social gaming

There are positive and negative sides of social gaming. The most common benefit of social gaming is participatory culture. Gamers around the world with common interest get together in gaming communities and form social relationships with other players (Cade & Gates 2017). Gaming groups can be connected through Discord app and if anyone wishes to play with another member, they use voice chat or messaging through Discord. Moreover, social gaming can be good for the brain as it helps promote spatial skills. Video games can help improve an individual’s spatial skills and are used for education and training. Training the brain to perform spatial skills can help a person succeed in future.

For example, studies have found that by playing Tetris Battle could improve spatial skills as the task in Tetris is similar to the performance of a spatial cognition task called ‘Mental Rotation Test’ where the individual is tested on their ability to rotate mental representations of 2D and 3D models (Choi & Feng 2017). Furthermore, playing online games can be rewarding as a sense of accomplishment is felt when winning a game or leveling up. This can boost a person’s self esteem (Wang & Sun 2011)

However are gaming communities becoming more toxic?

With the positive sides, also come the social toxicity revolved around gaming. Toxicity like sexism exist within the gaming community. Gaming is usually dominated by male players and as such women are portrayed as weak and passive characters that need help. Moreover, women gamers featured in magazines are often seen as sexualised, scantily clad or a vision of beauty and are frequently regarded as sex objects (Begue et. al. 2017).  

In addition, gaming contributes to health hazards such as addiction, gambling and even death. Being overly obsessed with online games could lead to major exhaustion and might result in death. Lack of control over achievements and online life could lead to addictive gaming which could harm daily life, health and studies (Vollmer et. al. 2014). Fan communities of MMOG Eve Online have a history of forming third-party gambling websites and placing bets on events. Therefore, the video game company needed to regulate the game (Drain 2019).

To conclude, if games are played in moderation there would be less negative effects. Social toxicity is always out there but one has to consider the toxicity and health hazards of gaming rather than just enjoyment; so in that way, they can control themselves better when playing.

Get to know my character

3) What would be their favorite physical trait about themselves?

Sarah's favorite trait is also one that secretly causes her a little sadness as well: the fact that she looks very much like her (deceased) mother. She suspects it's one a few reasons why her father (who was never the same after the loss of his wife) distanced himself from her.

11) What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?

Seeing people picked on or bullied is something Sarah can't tolerate, as she was often bullied growing up herself. Because of that and her religious background, she always strives to protect the weak, the needy, and/or the downtrodden (one of the factors that ultimately led her to become a junior deputy).

15) Is there a certain person in this world that they cannot stand? The very mention of this person's name makes them tremble with anger or fear.

At the moment, that 'lucky' individual happens to be one Jacob Seed. After everything he put Sarah through in the Whitetail Mountains (including brainwashing her and attempting to force her to kill Eli), the very thought of him makes her tremble with both anger and fear (...mostly anger, though). She's stayed away from the Whitetail region ever since what happened to Eli - but she knows that sooner or later, she'll have to go back and deal with things one way or the other...

17) Does you character have dreams of getting married and/or having children?

Sarah was engaged once..... it didn't work out. Before and after then, she never received much positive attention from people. Deep down, she'd probably like the thought of giving her heart to the right person and maybe starting a family of her own... but since she's hesitant/afraid to give herself completely to anyone, having been hurt by people before, the thought hasn't really occurred to her as something that's even on the horizon, unfortunately.

20) Does your character like animals? What are some of their favorite animals? Would they want pets? What about mythological creatures?

Sarah definitely likes animals... better than people, sometimes. They do what they need to in order to survive, not necessarily to be cruel or manipulative (for the most part), like people are prone to do. She became fast friends with Boomer, and even though they scared the hell out of her at first she quickly grew to care for Peaches and Cheeseburger as well (and they her, also). Up until 'the Reaping' she hadn't had time for pets, but if things EVER 'settle down', maybe she'd consider one in the future. 

As for mythological creatures, she once read a story in the bible about a dragon and has thought they were kind of neat ever since (Revelations 12, for the curious. Revelations is also Joseph Seed’s ‘favorite’ bible section, remember? Lol). But really, anything imaginative can be fun for her to think about, since she was often ‘encouraged’ (lectured) by her father to concentrate on her studies and not get ‘distracted with trivial things’.

29) What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one?

Unfortunately Sarah doesn’t have too many loved ones, and maybe this isn’t necessarily ‘courageous’, but she once tried to learn sign language to communicate with one of her father’s housekeepers. The woman, Ruth, was deaf, and the small staff of hired help was directed to simply ‘do their job’ and not to ‘distract’ David or Sarah Rook. Sarah took pity on Ruth and, often being lonely herself, used some of her free time to learn to sign. She and Ruth started developing a makeshift friendship, with Ruth even teaching her a few more signs - but Sarah’s father eventually caught onto this and soon replaced Ruth with a different woman who didn’t pay Sarah any mind. Sarah always resented that her father took Ruth away from her, and got her ears pierced as an act of rebellion (the 1st of 3 pairs in her ears. David Rook was not thrilled. Each subsequent pair was done as a different act of defiance - but that’s another story.  ;-) ).

...And of course, she has done many good deeds for the people of Hope County as well.  ^.^

30) When it comes to the arts (music, film, theater, etc), what does your character like?

Sarah didn’t have a lot of people to go to the movies (or theater) with growing up (her mom was gone, father always working, and she didn’t have many friends), so the ones she’s seen, she usually caught on TV. That said, she’s a true ‘geek’ at heart and tends to enjoy ‘the classics’: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, the Lord of the Rings movies, Disney movies, superhero movies, etc.

As for music, she enjoys classic/soft rock, and often listens to the music that Wheaty plays on his radio station (though she might enjoy a showtune every now and then... hey, just because she’s never seen it doesn’t mean she’s never heard it). She might not be a disco fan, but will indulge Sharky on the few occasions she lets him drive (lol).

40) Does your OC have any guilty pleasures they enjoy? Hobbies, pastimes, music, etc that they wouldn't want known by others?

Sarah has extensive knowledge of the bible - she was often lonely growing up, and before her mom died she’d encouraged her to turn to ‘the good book’ whenever her heart felt heavy. She hides her religious side from others 1) because she was often picked on about it in school - sometimes very cruelly - and 2) because a certain religious cult in Hope County brings negative connotations to anything related to religion, and she doesn’t want people to misunderstand/misjudge her based on the negative actions of others. Even Pastor Jerome doesn’t know about this side of her - not that she’s worried about him judging her, but she’s just so used to ‘hiding’ that she doesn’t share this part of herself with anyone anymore (so far). She even hides her silver cross necklace (which once belonged to her mother) under her clothing all the time.

When she wasn’t reading the bible, she’d love visiting the picturesque ‘fish church’ in Stamford, CT (real church, to be mentioned in an upcoming chapter of ‘The Book of John‘), or going to the coast (she loves the beauty of the beach and the ocean - one of the things she misses about New England).

43) Does your character have a switch that changes aspects of their personality whether they are around friends, family, etc. Is there someone who gets to see their true self?

As said in the previous answer, Sarah hides her religious side away from others, not wanting to be ostracized (again). Especially nowadays, where she’s finally beginning to make friends in Hope County - friends aren’t something she’s really used to, and she really doesn’t want to risk losing them and being alone all over again. Trust is something she has trouble with, and opening herself up to others is very difficult, so she puts up a tough front and - while joking around and being friendly to others - hides her ‘true self’ away.

  Some basic ideas that I do have pretty big doc ideas for;

  A few marine biologists go to an island off the coast to study the marine life there, which in turn, turns out to be something much bigger. (Mermaid/siren prompt!)

  Soul mates; it can be like some of those AU’s where you don’t see color until you meet them, your tattooed timer counts down until then, or maybe even soulmates continuously reincarnating and one of the two has killed them for centuries in order to be “immortal”.   Character A has an awful time living in the city; alone, and without mom's guidance, completely lost. One day they receive a call about a deceased relative, one they'd never heard of and apparently left their estate and everything in their will to A. With nothing but the clothes on their back, A took a shot and drove out to this presumed "estate", only to find that it's a mansion in a tiny little town with an eerie vibe and populated by the typical small town churchgoers and farm folk. Living in this town was a hell of a challenge; everyone was nice, too nice, and people were missing. Character B is an exceptionally charismatic, charming person and the only mechanic/handyman in town. A and B become friends, partially, when A needs to fix up the piping in their estate. A stumbles upon the attic one day, and for once, they start to get why this whole town reeked to the roots in weird shit-- their deceased relative was tracking something here in this town, having to do with all of the MIA townsfolk. DR has a board of possible suspects, and at the center? B. OSJFODSFHSDJSODFJD!!! Bonus content: B is, in fact, not the murderer, instead a vampire on a mission to track down the monster, same as DR. small towns give me honey moon vibes and I??? am so down for some kinky, albeit eventually fluffy romance between people who are trying to make it work. I actually have a doc for both TBD characters and a location. None of this is set in stone, so please share your thoughts.

  Two friends drop their whole lives to go on a road trip once they turn thirty-- they elope together, leaving their unhappy lives behind them and in this grand scheme of mental breakdowns and tearful smiles, they find that love may be the only cure to a broken existence.

  In a post-apocalyptic world where a pandemic has killed off most living species, Character A is a lone wolf with little to do with other people that don't benefit him, except for a select few. A is especially rough around the edges, as he's lived through some sick shit and lived to tell the tale. A had once been part of a group dedicated to finding a cure, but things went south, and a lot of people died. A had a close bond with the leader of said group, and coincidentally they were the only survivors.  Their past together, having been deeply demented and twisted, caused them to fall out. Said leader has rebuilt a new group in the ten years since the last time they'd seen A. Character B is the only known immune person alive, and has dedicated their life to being a resource to finding a cure. A and his (current) contact/partner in crime have something taken from them, and are determined to get it back. They do some searching, and are confronted with this group-- they have what they need, but are only willing to give it to them for a favor in return. No one can outrun their past forever. (Last of Us-inspired!)

  An architect/treasure hunter is being funded an expedition to find a lost treasure and they are forced to bring along a reporter in order to receive the funds. the reporter and architect certainly don't get along in the beginning— they bicker, and clash on most fronts. the expedition wasn't meant to be dangerous. what was initially thought to be a simple job turned into something treacherous; bandits, a team of hired hitmen and their leader looking to take the treasure for themselves, and some rather supernatural elements that they both couldn't quite put a finger on. the treasure hunter and the reporter have to work together to get out of this alive, and get to the artifact before someone else does.

Dang I am not good at keeping up with this blog smh. I tried to become more organised during this lock down. I needed to start making changes in my life, I am working on becoming more focused and creating a routine that will help me to keep up with my studies, which means that hopefully this blog will be updated way more frequently now. I mostly struggled with knowing what to write for these posts, but I sort of have an idea now since the lesson we had about what a good blog post looks like. I decided to do a recap for the lessons we have done already in the beginning of the year to help refresh my minddd.

Week One

CTEC502 (250220) - So during our first lesson in ICT, we got an introduction to what Creative technology is, we learnt about how different ways of thinking can contribute to our creative work. We want to find out ways of using technology to make the world a better place. Creative tech is about discovering new ideas, new pathways. Not particularly about finding what the best idea idea is, or the right pathway, it’s about knowing that there is always more than one way to do something. We familiarized ourselves with concepts and issues, and the theories and methods related to CT. The method we discussed during this week was Brainstorming. Our first Assessment was handed out during this week(vlog).

CTEC501 (260220) - We were introduced to the makey makey, I did not have much experience with this or papertronics and circuits before. I remember being excited to see what we could do with this. We used the makey makey to hack games on our laptops. The theme for this week was “What is an INTERFACE?” An interface is something that objects can use to interact, for example we used our bodies to control our character in a video game. We were then given an small assignment to hack a board game using the makey makey so that players can interact with the game more. My group chose to hack pictionary.

COMP570 (270220) - Introduction to the class and Processing. I remember being nervouse about coding because I had no past experiences with it, I struggled a bit in the beginning, but after studying a bit more in my spare time by watching videos on YouTube and reading through the Processing references I was starting to get a hang of thing. Still could use more practice.

Week Two

CTEC502  (030320) -  During our second lesson we discussed creative practice, we were shown a model about the four constitutive dimensions. The first two are how we react inside: Paradox(wanting to find contrast and being accepting of it) and Curiosity(asking questions and being open to newer ideas). The other two are how we react in the real world: Object and Experience(being creative with our engagement with the world through nature, materials, etc.) and Empathetic Collaboration(ways we can work with others, which helps us to be more aware of being able to do things differently). We looked at dispositions, creative myths, studio pedagogy, and reflective action. Our topic method for this week was Affinity Diagrams. This method is good for examining large amounts of data.

CTEC501 (040320) - We displayed our interactive game with the class. We discussed iconography, how it’s an important part of affordance, we need to understand icons so that we know how to interact with something. “Icons are all about context”. the theme for this week was “What is the EXPERIENCE?” What are we thinking? What are our emotions? We talked a lot about emotion, how our body reacts to emotions, what triggers certain emotions. An exercise we did was to find something (a video, photo, etc.) that triggers an emotion and show it to another group to see how they respond. We were introduced to scratch and audacity to help us with our next mini project, which was to create something that evokes three different emotions using sound. 

COMP570 (050320) - Computers are dumb, we need to understand how they work and also how we can control them. Discussed binary code and how to read them, I have no prior knowledge of learning about binary code. I was happy to learn something new that week, with the help of some friends I was able to get a hang of it and have a better understanding of what binary code is. Looked at abstraction layers between hardware and human. we also looked at drawing primitives. Our first assignment for this class was handed out.

Week Three

CTEC502  (100320) - In our third lesson we discussed creative potential. What parts of our own lives contributes to our creativity? This was interesting. Our creativity can show our uniqueness. Who we are shapes how we look at things, everyone is different, which is why collaboration is an important part of CT. Working with others expands our creativity because we get to see things from a different perspective. We looked at Concepts, they drive our projects. We don’t usually start them, we grow and develop them. Our topic method for this week was Interviews. We did an activity in a groups of three where we had to interview someone to try and find out their darkest fears without being too blunt and straight-forward. Interviews is a good method to help us find out more about who we are designing for/with. It helps us to understand a persons beliefs and behavior.

CTEC501 (110320) - We showed the class our projects, my table used sounds to make the listener feel like they are walking in a forest listening to calming sounds of nature ended with a some pretty strange noises to make the listener feel uncomfortable. The theme this week was “WHO is it for?” Who is our target audience and how can they interact with our projects. We looked at gestures and languages. Then we lab inductions, we got to see the other creative labs we may be using for future projects. Our new mini project assignment was to create a performance thinking of who it is for.

COMP570 (120320) - we looked at variables, being able to store info inside a program, we use variables to tell the program what type of variables we want to store(boolean, int, float, char, color). We looked at variable scopes and operators. We learnt how to animate images in our programs, how to use the If statement, and how to change or maintain velocity in our programs. 

Week Four

CTECT502 (170320) - Our vlogs were duo this week, I was able to hand it in on time. Discussed what a good blog post looks like, I found this very helpful because  wasn’t too sure what was expected from these blog posts. We discussed mental and cultural switches, Gibbs’ reflective cycle, design briefs, and technology. Technophilia is when people have a strong attitude and belief that “technology will save us”. Our method for this week was Image boards, they can help inspire ideas.

CTEC501 (180320) - We displayed our new projects to the class, my table did a performance based on a sword fight. We used sounds for effects, it was quite enjoyable to watch. Our theme for this week was “What does it ASK?”, we looked into E-textiles(electronics in textile), materials and how different types evoke different emotions. We went to a lab where they use materials such as E-textiles, our new mini project was to create something using E-textiles to design an interactive interface.

COMP570 (190320) - Our first assignment for this class was due the day after. I was able to finish, I struggled a little but got a few classmates to help guide me. I was proud of myself lol I had never done coding before remember! Anyways, for this lecture we looked at loops(for, while) and conditionals (if, else). We learnt to make objects bounce off edges, fading circles, and drag drop.
