What we thought: Price is going to die because in the OG's he's the only one who survived.
What's happening: Price is going to be the only one left alive by the end again, but now the deaths are backwards, starting with Soap.

Soapghost angst thought of the day
Mwiii spoilers
-
The thought is just The Good Side by Troye Sivan as it is previously secretly engaged ghoap. With Soap signing to Ghost from the afterlife
Tumblr media
Soap is happy to be free of all the pain that his life was in the military, and is apologizing to Ghost that he was the one who got out, and apologizing to Ghost that he left him behind
Don’t mind some lyric dissection in the tags

WAIT WAIT WIAT CUS ANON WAS ONTO SOMETHING WITH THE OG AND REBOOT so imagine this:
Readers reaction to end of mw3 reboot.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk
SO SORRY THIS TOOK ME SO LONG FJSHAHABSBBDD
Tumblr media
Ghost
☆ He knew it was coming
☆ Hes known ever since the old games that soap was going to die but it hurt him most knowing that you were going to be hurt by it. And you were hurt, not only by his death but by how quick it went
☆ He very quickly gave you a free Soap charm, soap skin, and even a new gun in compensation (you thought Activision gave it to you as a gift for a shitty and unnecessary ending)
Price
☆ It was hard to mask an emotion
☆ But he did his voicelines even though he had watched the same thing happen at least 30 times by now. Replaying it in different save files was hard but seeing your reaction was even harder
☆ Oh how he wanted to hold you and let you know that everything would be alright. Sadly he knew that would not happen as he still had to make sure his identity was kept a secret for now :(
Gaz
☆ He was just as hurt as you were
☆ He hated how they portrayed his reaction to his best mate's death. They acted as if he didn't care and he despised that. He despised your reaction even more. The tears, the frowns, the gasp. He hated how you felt.
☆ He gave supportive voicelines during the cutscene and in the mutiplayer matches if you even bothered to continue playing mw3 after that shiity ending. He wanted nothing more than to hold you, but like price be couldn't :(
Soap
☆ He felt so bad omg
☆ Getting shot in the head? hurts. BUT YOUR TEARS?? God, he'd rather get shot 50 more times than ever see that again. Your gasp, your frown, the way you covered your mouth as you saw makarov put a bullet through his head. It hurt too much
☆ He didn't even care about holding back at that point. He needed to hold you and that is exactly what he did. Your broken TV could wait to be repaired, you needed comfort and HE WAS GOING TO GIVE IT TO YOU >:(

Okay guys, I'm back and.. I needed a short break after what happened in the MWIII campaign. Words can't express how shocked I was when I reached the end of the campaign and.. it left me in confusion, denial, depression and anger.
I'm putting a "read more" below because, if there are people who still haven't played MWIII, I'll keep ya guys safe.
Our theories before were constantly revolving that who's gonna die and what worse is going to happen.. it first pointed towards the fate of Price or Gaz. But, turns out we were jinxed. JINXED.
The campaign was.. okay but at the same time I felt it was small. Quite rushed. I did have a light of concern over their release date when MWII was currently trending. I was reading others reviews of how they felt about the game and yes, I agree with the same. But I wanna talk about Soap's fate this time..
Soap, who JUST started his journey, like, the one who only appeared in MWII and hoped we would see him more develop in the further games to be just.. killed off? When were they moments away from achieving victory?
So only because it's called MW3 ✌🏻 and you wanted to give us all a nostalgic experience you'll.. give them the original plot treatment? Both Soaps in the Modern Warfare universes.. died under the hands of Vladimir Makarov but in different circumstances.
This is where I got a bit angry at Price because, why didn't you kill Makarov instead of taking him in custody in Verdansk?! That guy is a walking grim reaper, and if Price took that action before, not just Soap but MANY more lives would have been saved. Soap was a man who was ready to take immediate action but always got backed off because of being bound to orders.
The end scene when they took out his ashes.. it broke me. Like, how unexpected this can be? Well, though I know Makarov already gave a warning that he was going to kill him off in the heli scene, but.. it's just not it? Like, honestly, I was hopeful Soap would survive.. it's disappointing for me, as someone who loves him so much, like anything.
So ScarSoap's now an angsty ship? Because let it be for both universes — OG and Reboot, Scarlet's going to be left behind? Welp, I'm more sad now, lol.
Otherwise, the expectations I had for the campaign were somehow, not met to the fullest but let's talk about the good things.
Price killing off Shepherd. YES, THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. I freaking knew that he was going to die and my prediction called itself right. But, now that Price killed a 4-star General, he's gonna go rogue. You mean, batshit, crazy and unhinged Price on the move?!
Julian Kostov. The man. Bro, like, when he was featured in the reveal trailer, I was just hoping that he'd play the role of Makarov well and guess what? He did! I absolutely loved how he portrayed the man and he looked intimidating and twisted like a true psychopath. Truly, he could compete with the OG!Makarov and it's proven! Hats off to the actor, really <3
Price DOESN'T die. Neither in my beliefs, Farah and Alex. A relief. A pure relief, for real. The trailers showed him passing out but glad he's good in one piece. But, did that happen for the cost of killing Soap? :')
Graves and Shepherd betray each other in the conference, LMFAO! Who knew they were going to turn their backs on each other. Graves really had nothing to do with this, he was just a man following orders.. the problem lies with Shepherd, and always has.
Now, these guys said we're gonna release the "full campaign" on November 10. You mean.. the early access didn't show much of the story? So there's hope? OR NOT? Sigh, I don't want to think about it.. I just don't. I've been delulu, haha
Anyways, these are my thoughts for Modern Warfare III! What do you feel about it, let me know in the comments!

My opinion on MW3
Alright, so just a heads up, this is gonna have spoilers, so from this point onward if you don't want any, please stop reading! Will tag for #MW3Spoilers if you want to avoid them on my blog.
Also, this is incredibly long and I am so sorry for that, I just have a lot to get off my chest right now and may ramble. I am also on like 2-3 hours of sleep, who knows if I'll have more to say later.
@sofasoap You asked to be pinged, apologies once again if it's insanely long and kinda rambly.
That being said, I've seen a fair bit of this by now, not the full thing and cannot bring myself to play it. This game had amazing potential, with Makarov being back, to having a higher stakes game. It just felt incredibly rushed and Soaps death, made no sense to me.
I have been excited to play the reboot timeline since I heard about it back in 2019, it was the first time in years I even paid attention to CoD, mainly because Soap was back. I thought this time, since we started off so soon in his story, we'd get to see him grow into Captain MacTavish. I even waited to play the other two campaigns based off this one, hoping to not have history repeat itself. Yet, it sadly did in an even worse way.
It honestly seems at this point, we're going to get Captain Garrick instead, which is fine, I'm more than happy to see Gaz survive and become a memorable character, I'm even glad we get to see Ghost survive longer than he did in the previous timeline. However, Soap dying so suddenly, so out of the blue with no reaction or importance, it felt so empty. It felt like pure shock value, just to do it because they needed a death.
Did I think all of them were going to survive? No, I was just hoping to not repeat the OG timeline, or to wait till MW4. As much as I hate to say it, Price or even Gaz dying this time would have been a bit more shocking to me. Gaz has so much history for him, is Prices protege, and would give Price even far more reason to go down the dark path he is headed in. Soap may have been a start, but imagine someone as important to him as Gaz dying? Man would have been livid and may have hunted down Makarov immediately afterwards.
I was also kind of hoping to see Ghost step into the role of Captain or at least leading the TF141 himself. In both timelines he has just been a lieutenant, one timeline he was Soaps second in command, and in this one he is Prices and Soap was his protege. I absolutely loved the amount of work they put into Ghost, I actually care far more for this version of him than I did with the OG Ghost. They made Ghost a teacher, the bond that him and Soap formed was great to see, something we didn't really get much of in the original MW2.
Just like with Gaz, they both got a massive amount of work done towards them, they are now memorable characters for me. Ghost was in the OG games to me, but I actually forgot entirely about Gaz. Now? I'd remember both, be mourning their deaths just like with Soap. I am so happy they rebooted the timelines but they have executed MW3 so poorly, I don't see myself being as interested in further content.
I get deaths are inevitable, I get deaths are going to be a part of the CoD universe. I 100% accept and understand that they will and, sometimes need to, happen. But Soaps death? That should not have happened, not one bit. He aimed for the shoulder on Makarov instead of the neck or head, how in the hell did he get taken down so quickly? No moment for himself, no scene, just Makarov bursting into the area, shooting him in the shoulder/back/wherever (legit can never find the hole for the first shot). And all for Price, a man who has survived both timelines. I would have been more at peace with Prices death than anything else, I do not hate the character, I love all of them very much, but Prices death would have been the perfect catalyst for all of them to go after Makarov. Would have been a nice shove to seeing Gaz work hard to become the best soldier, would have pushed Soap even further after the Graves betrayal.
I know it's a reach at this point, a stupid hope to keep Soap around but I do hope that somehow, they pull something out of their asses to keep Soap alive. It was a stupid, poor, lazy decision to kill Soap off in MW3 like the OG one. I said this before, but I truly was excited to see him grow into the Captain I loved playing as/with in the OG timeline. Neil Ellice absolutely nailed his portrayal of Soap and they could have never found a better actor. I look forward to seeing what happens in Zombies, but that's all I'm looking forward to anymore. Not the campaign, not the multiplayer, none of it. Soap was literally the reason I picked up MW19 and began playing cuz I knew he'd probably be in the second one. Thinking back, Captain MacTavish may very well have been the second game character I got attached to, after Master Chief.
So, yeah, that's kind of my thoughts right now. I am upset, disappointed and hurt over the ending of MW3. He deserved so much better than what he got.

Haha, I also spoil myself intentionally, but for the plot of movies, tv shows, and games I’m not super invested in. If I accidentally spoil myself (especially if I learn a character dies) I’ll cope by telling myself “I don’t know how/when it happened though”
Anyways Major Character Death!!
I’m SO disappointed in them killing off Soap and especially in how they did it! No buildup or anything! To me it was disrespectful to the character and to Neil Ellice. And then the 141 don’t even say anything and it cuts to them spreading his ashes with a simple goodbye! They could have at least made them a little more upset 🥲 also I hate how abruptly the game ended. Makarov gets away, but no mention to that at the end.
I had also initially requested what would become infinity in the palm of your hand (eternity in an hour) as a way to “cope” with 2009 Soap’s death because it’s always been on the back of my mind for years (weird, I know). But now after playing the new MW3 campaign I look like boo boo the fool because of who went and got killed off 😭 now every time I go back to reread it, it will be painful knowing what’s in store for reader for their current reincarnation of Soap.
Tldr I’m kinda not okay with MW3.
From what I've seen, it feels like they pulled it out of a hat. All names went in, but his (amongst others) came out. And I guess it's safe because he died in the OG, so the backlash can easily be deflected from within their own community when other fans come to their defence over this choice. But idk.
I agree with everything you said. It doesn't make any sense. It's jarring and misplaced, and canonically pointless. I'm not against character death. Grief is a powerful thing. But I just hate when it's so contrived and needless. It was definitely done for shock value over plot/character growth and I think they were trying to re-create the massive storm that happened when OG Soap died because they know they don't have much else going for them. It just massively missed the mark because: a) Price and Gaz had no tangible in-game relationship with Soap the same way Ghost did; and b) what does his death really amount to in the end? Nothing. It feels cobbled together and poorly thought out. It's sad when Portal 2 has better writing than your whole remake combined. Honestly, it's kind of impressive how little thought they put into this. I'm getting flash backs to DGG's Halloween.
If it's any consolation, the mythology I based the reincarnation off of in infinity would essentially just be neverending. An ouroboros. The events would happen much the same way. A knock on the door. Spiral of grief. A bog. A deal. Restart. So, you'd just wake up again and live life until whatever the old you made a deal with decides it's time to collect. You're forever stuck in a loop with your soulmate until you get it right.
The rest is just how I kinda wish it went, but this was getting very long because I have more thoughts on this than I anticipated lmao 😅
Personally, I think it would have been much more interesting if they brought in a new passel of characters and slowly chipped off the main cast in a series of horrible decisions that slowly begin to feel hollow and empty. That leave you, the player, feeling emotionally gutted with each new chapter because the choices previously are absolutely impacting the way they move forward, but they're too deep into their own revenge fantasy to see it until the very end when it's too late. Give me actions have consequences and every choice you make is directly responsible for someone's death. The realities of war. And what happens when you give a group of people the power to play god in countries they know nothing about. It would have matched the gritty tone they tried to go for with the trailers and actually served as an interesting conversation about war and how we tend to deify the military when they're just men with too much power in their hands. Instead, we have a death that means nothing. That arguably happened much too early in the series so the payoff is solely meant for clicks and reaction channels. Pointless.
And Makarov. A Russian Ultra Nationalist. I feel like that title alone says everything for me, and yet. They still somehow managed to give a Russian War Criminal so many wins. I'm just so irritated by it all.

Hey hey 👋 I hope everything’s okay! What are your thoughts abt the new MW3?
have so many opinions so I know I must give a warning for spoilers
A/N: This is a summary and personal opinion, so piss off if you get hurt about what I say
MW3 Spoilers ahead
Started the campaign somewhat early in the day off the early access thing and I have to admit that as someone who loves to read the last pages of books for possible spoilers, I avoided the internet until I was able to play it myself. And oh do I have opinions.
Now, as someone who has been involved in Call of Duty since 2009, I was 6 years old (my cousins played it, but I have great recollection and memories from them) I have to unfortunately admit this one was bad. The storyline made no sense. The problems that were written for this part of MW were not resolved however they created even more problems. The way past characters were filled with real human emotions, the crying, the anxiousness and the evil and vile acts that were presented in OG times are simply thrown out the window this time around.
Yes we lost a well beloved character and to be honest, as much as the next person I am upset and saddened, however, the death was foreseeable. We know Soap, Gaz, Roach and Ghost die in the OG. So for me, Soap's death came as no impact, it was shit how they didn't give much grief around it as in the OG but it is what it is and now he is dead. Sorry it sounds mean but it's the truth.
Now, let's talk about Makarov and the 'No Russian' mission.
In the original, I remember that everyone around the world was in shock by how evil this mission was. I mean it, this certain part even went on international news and so many tv networks talked about how violent it was, just look it up. It is one of the many reasons why COD is titled a 'Violent' game. But this time around, the mission for me at least wasn't as shocking as the original. In the OG, the way it all came down, how it even had a warning before playing that certain mission was proof enough of how violent and evil it will be for its players. This time around, I truly believe they downgraded, Activision and the entire team behind COD went soft for this mission, and it is a reason as to why I believe many, including myself, find this reboot so shit.
The game went soft, there I said it.
Soap's death:
I won't shine a huge light on Soap as like I said before, the death wasn't something that was heartbreaking. However, I will talk about the reactions to the characters death. For this, I will compare the OG and the 2023 reboot. In the OG, we see and hear Price have such a huge reaction to his death, which is very reasonable. Ghost as well, I mean they all lost their teammate and a man who fought until his very last breath, someone they trusted with all. Reboot was shit, we don't see even a single outburst of any emotion that isn't heartbreaking besides their cold way of dealing with it. Take in consideration they know him well, he allows Ghost to call him Johnny, Price to call him sunshine and Gaz to call him brother, all this and not a 'SOAP, NO NO NO SOAP' ???? yeah, not in character. I think it was in retaliation to what the women in the COD community have given, we give them so much emotion when writing non canon emotions or actions of them that I strongly believe they didn't want to make it canon that these men do have more than a soldier mentality.
Much nicer moments:
Now, on a cuter note. I love the relationship we see between Price and Farah as well as the moments we got with the banter between the 141 men.
MW 2019, we get introduced to two young people who will become great leaders. Farah and Price. A woman who has so much potential and a man who also has immense potential in his field. Then, if we see how much they've grown, taking in account they met when both weren't in their now respective ranks, we can get a glimpse of how deeply their bond goes. "Old man," she calls him, something I found so adorable and how she is his option of snipers. Who do you choose for this mission, he gets asked multiple times since the reboot and most of the time, when needed/available, Farah is that answer.
The banter, we love to see it and I love it how in moments of darkness, we got a glimpse of the man with the skull mask being just any other man who says jokes or teases his mates. When Gaz says that Price's face could've melted(along the lines bc I simply forgot the exact quote), Ghost responds and it gives me the impression he isn't just a cold soldier. Something along the lines of "If you ask me it would've been an improvement," when his captain nearly died because of the gas, made me chuckle, its a glim of a man who does find humour in dark spaces but it makes other chuckle with him.
The way Price called Soap 'Sunshine' was to me adorable. I often call my friends honey or babe bc I am fond of them and to hear Price say it made my heart melt. 'Brother' when Nik called Gaz that, gosh the most cutest of them all. It shows these men are truly bonded by memories, trust and that life no one outside of that team will understand. 'Boss' Another cute nickname that Price was given my Ghost, a glimpse that yet again, there is respect but also friendship, something that will stay in the field, even if it isn't in the guidebook.
Overall:
I think the rating the game was given, which was 4, is very reasonable. Take in mind, Activision wants to expand into more games with the remaining characters. Some of the good guys in this campaign might become the bad guys, like the now criminal Cpt. John Price. Some villains are wanted to be the good guys, to have some character development. But I truly do believe Activision and COD in general should do a better job, it's lacking in creativity, and a steady storyline. I fear most gamers will abandon the game and move on and that COD will become just another shit game from the past.

"What if Perseus is Makarov's father??" I said, jokingly.
And so begins my quest of finding whether or not how logical this theory could be.
And well...
I don't think it's a joke anymore lmao.
It really is unsettling how truly similar they are.
In certain ways.
Before we begin, let's clarify something here.
Since AV de-aged reboot Makarov, this theory only make sense if you pair Perseus with the OG Makarov. Why? Because Perseus died of cancer in 1983.
Since we have yet to know how old is the new Makarov, I'm gonna assumed he's around Price's age. At least I hope so. Idk how I'm gonna feel if they decides to make him late 20s. He's gotta be born either in 1985 or younger than that. At least that's what he looks like. So, there's no way Perseus could be his father.
Now, the OG Makarov though......
Let's go through this points by points.
He was born in 1970. October 4th, to be precise (at least according to Soap's journal). There's no indication or mentioned siblings in his record. Parents or whatsoever. I have my own personal HC on this but that's another essay.
Perseus himself doesn't have any canon date of birth and place of birth. Let's assume he was born in, maybe, around the year of 1918. I was gonna go ahead and make him the same age as Adler (1937). But according to this modelling mugshot pose he pulls photo,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If he looks this scrumptious old during 1960, then he's gotta be at least 42 years old. That would make him 52 when baby Mak was born in 1970.
"Isn't he a little old to be a dad at that age?" Uhhh not really. Especially given his situation, my dude was constantly on the move busy doing spy shit all over the world. He was young, patriotic. So, perhaps domestic life wasn't exactly on his mind at the time being or just haven't found the one yet. My guess is, he found someone in 1968/1969 yada yada fall in love yada yada get married yada yada and boom baby Mak was born in 1970. Whether they settled for one kid or more, that's up to your interpretation.
Now, in terms of looks, I don't think they're exactly copy paste. We know that Mak has Heterochromia. Perseus had blue eyes and Makarov's mama must've had green eyes.
If we want to compare their pictures, let's start with in-game model.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ehhh I'd say they score about 75-80% in terms of appearance alikeness. Big ass forehead? Check ✅️
Now, if you put Perseus real life model and Makarov MW3 model..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah okay score about 95%. Especially the eyebrow scrunch thing.
Perseus was 6 ft'2. Our boi on the other hand was 5 ft'11. My dude did not inherit the tall genes unfortunately.
Perseus and Makarov both had comradeship with Imran Zakhaev.
Zakhaev looked up to Perseus, claiming him to be "a mentor, having played a part in radicalizing his attitude towards the West."
As for Makarov, we know how much he looked up to Zakhaev. He did took him in during the lowest point of his life and gave him a purpose. Something he lost when he was forced to discharge from the military. Zakhaev's protégé. Zakhaev's executioner.
However, Perseus and Mak share one common trait; their methods were frowned upon by Zakhaev.
"Imran, however, soon realized the danger of Perseus's ideas. Believing Perseus's actions would turn the world against the Soviet Union, he prevented Perseus from taking control of a facility in Verdansk, where a chemical agent called NOVA-4 was produced."
"While Zakhaev was grateful to Makarov for saving his life on the day of his assassination attempt, he also kept him in check, possibly due to the fear of Makarov's extreme methods and ambitions, which later proved correct."
It boggles my mind that Zakhaev have the patience to continously kept Makarov's in check for 15 years of their partnership. He's aware of how terrifyingly brutal he is and even though it clearly bothered him, he still kept him around.
This is one of the key points that makes me wonder if Makarov is not just a nobody that he picked off the underworld. Maybe him being Perseus's son is what drives Zakhaev to mentor him and stick with it till the end. Well, at least as long as he could control him. I had no doubt that if Makarov push Zakhaev too far and shows signs of being too out of control, he'll be dead way before Price could wrung his neck.
Speaking of methods,
"Perseus' true plan was to detonate all the American nukes across Europe and have the United States take the fall. Perseus wanted to rebuild Russia from the ashes."
"Makarov's scheme was to initiate the global conflict of World War III, and that was accomplished by massacring a Russian airport and making it look like the US was involved. Later on, he would attempt to nuke all of Europe for Russia to fully invade and rebuild from the ashes."
See the resemblance?
Their speech pattern really parallel each other;
Perseus: Today, we reshape the world.
Makarov: Today, we show the world our true strength.
Perseus: Our motherland is lead by cowards and weaklings.
Makarov: Now our country is run by squabbling lackeys and politicians who can hardly be called patriots.
Perseus: The superpowers will fall, victims of their own greed and corruption.
Makarov: The corrupt talk; while our brothers and sons spill their own blood.
Perseus: We will rebuild Greater Russia from the ashes.
Makarov: Russia will take all of Europe, even if it must stand upon a pile of ashes.
Perseus: They sleep soundly at night, knowing they put on a good parade - but they lack the will to do what must be done.
Makarov: Our enemies believe that they alone dictate the course of history, but all it takes is the will of a single man.
Perseus: The others, however, are still out there. I will finish them off if I have to.
Makarov: I will not rest until I have killed or captured the men who killed Imran Zakhaev.
Perseus: (to Bell) You remember my face don't you?
Makarov: (to Vorshevsky) You know who I am?
Perseus: But have no doubt. These are but temporary losses. We are just getting started, my friend.
Makarov: The road to our future begins here, my friend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So in conclusion, it seems that the possibility of them being father and son is really plausible so far.

MW3 SPOILERS!!!
MAJOR SPOILER RIGHT OFF THE BAT!!!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
My thoughts on the MW3 campaign after playing it last night. I successfully avoided spoilers and social media the whole day yesterday.
Seeing people talk about Soap's death is so weird to me. Cause as a writer, it makes sense to me.
- "His death was anticlimactic."
- "It was rushed."
- "They treated him like a side character."
- "Ghost, Price, and Gaz didn't react at all."
I think people forget that COD is propaganda for the military. In the moment, you can't grieve. You don't have that luxury. Their silence. Price's hesitant response to even say that they had a casualty. Not to mention the jump from Laswell writing up the report to the boys on a cliff woth Soap's ashes. That had to have been a couple of weeks. They had time to process their grief. They'll probably still hurt. They are going for revenge. Price already started with Shephard.
On the note of his death and how some people saying it was anticlimactic? I personally think it was perfect. We played most as Price and Soap through the whole campaign. The flashback mission to Verdansk. The moment between Price and Soap where Price said he shouldn't have stopped Soap from killing Makarov. They really put in perspective what they both put into all of this.
And for the people saying they hoped his death would be more dramatic. That wouldn't go along with how Makarov carried himself or his plans. The man constantly talked about how time was precious and everything needed to happen according to his plan to the T. He talked and talked and talked about how time was important. He wouldn't have wasted time showboating. It makes sense that he killed Soap so quickly.
His quick death was so jarring and shocking from how it was carried out. It had me sobbing for an hour on a call with friends. One friend was ahead of me and finished the campaign just to get in the call cause he knew how I was going to react. I didn't even process Makarov getting away. Silent tears rolled down my face until the moment you cut the wires and stopped the bomb. I started uncontrollably sobbing. Hearing Ghost's "Johnny..." killed me.
The game may have felt rushed due to how high paced it was. It was high stakes. Millions of lives were on the line.
I'm going to play through the campaign again. I want to take my time now that I know what's coming. Enjoy Ghost and Soap banter when they were on the island. Shove Makarov around more than I did with the Verdansk mission and take a longer moment to appreciate Ghost in his OG gear and mask.
It's still a good game. I'm not okay, and it's going to fuuuucking hurt for a bit. I have opinions on some other aspects of the game, but I don't have time to continue on at the moment. I'm on lunch at work.
Anyway, I hope everyone is doing okay after this. Please go drink water. All these tears are gonna make you dehydrated. ❤️

My opinions on Call of Duty Modern Warfare III
Tumblr media
Call of Duty MWIII Spoilers down below. Don't look if you haven't played the game!
Disclaimer: This is my own opinion everyone has a right to their own opinion. Please don't fight in the comments. :)
With that being said here it goes.
-
Campaign over all, I give it a 8.5 out of 10
The campaign over all for me, it was amazing. Yes it was supposed to be a DLC, yes it was supposed to be this or that, yes we was supposed to have a two year time frame for the game. I get it.
The missions could be a little longer, and they've could've added a mission dedicated to only using snipers. Like in MWII with Gaz & Price
Those are the only two issues I have !
The movement and guns were good, I had a lot of fun, the odd occasional banter between the characters was what I liked too.
Yes the game was rather short and quick, either way I had a lot of fun even if it didn't take me long to complete it.
I was so happy to see Nikolai again, Laswell, Farah and Alex. My bbys ❤️
And part of me also thinks Yuri will replace Soap? But that's me just jumping to conclusions, but I know Yuri will play a bigger role soon!
We just have to be patient.

The Combat Missions:
I actually really liked them, it was different. Sure it was like Warzone / DMZ and I could've easily played them, but it gave you the option to go in stealthy or go in hells blazing. It gave you either those options.
But I also why people dislike the open combat, it isn't for everyone's taste.
You had the opportunity to be each and every person in the Task Force, hell, even be Farah as well.
Overall I liked what they did with it.
I just play the missions and go along with it lol
-
Vladimir Makarov
Julian did such an amazing job portraying Makarov, he knew what he was doing when he was first revealed I was so excited to see him. He took the role and he ate it up, easily one of the best villains in Call of Duty.
His screen time was very limited, very limited, which I was a little disappointed by. But even when he wasn't on screen, he caused a lot of damage.
But what he did in MW3 was just the tip of the iceberg and I know whatever it'll happen next. There will be bigger plans for his character. And what other plans he'll have in store.
Which I can't wait to see.
-
Now... Soap's death
I know a lot of people are mad, I hear you, I your feelings are valid. But I suspected something was going to happen to him, back in the mission Makarov said
"I'll be seeing you again MacTavish... I promise."
I may be overlooking at some of the dialogue but I felt like he was the target .
(Refrencing what happened in OG MW3, we knew something would happen.)
Soap Sacrificed himself to save Price from Makaorv, and to save Europe by trying to detonate that Bomb, Price and Gaz finished finished off for him.
Price was in shock because he was almost executed, and also because Soap got shot by him, then shot in the head infront of him.
Ghost's voice and emotion when he said "Johnny." Broke me, I feel like all of them were in a state of shock on what had just happened. Their brain hasn't fully registered or fully processed what happened.
The sad reality of being in the army is that you don't know wether you will die, or your teammate will die. You're juggling your life, and juggling to save innocent lives.
Them releasing his ashes was heartwarming and bitter sweet, may seem corny to others... But Task Force was his only family.
-
Post end credit - Shepherd & Price
PRICE IN HIS INSANE ERA??? HE WAS SO PISSED. AND RIGHLY SO.
He didn't want to leave any loose ends, and I also feel like Price will also go after Graves next and his shadow company. They're the only thing left standing. But who knows what will happen.
(They did work together to stop Konni, but after all Graves did try to kill TF141, so there's still a grudge)
We all knew Shepherd had to die at some point, it was just a matter of time, when and who would do it. And Price did it.
But the thing makes me think is like ... Laswell allowed Price to wait for Shephed? Did she know what he was going to do? So many questions too.
So many questions left unanswered and I can't wait it'll they're eventually answered
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk 🖤

NOPE. NO. Nu-Uh. No no no no.
Nonono. No No No. Nopedy nope.
No. No no no no no no. NOPE.
NOPE.
(Edit : The account is most likely fake, since apparently both Sam and Elliot don't have TT account. The bts videos was also in Elliot's IG so let's take it with grain of salt)
Okay look. As much as I want the boys and girls to be happy and thrive and live on, I want something BAD to happen to them. Hear me out.
OG!Makarov (for those who don't know...) was such a destructive force. He single-handedly started World War 3, nuked cities, took down NATIONS. He was the literal ultimate enemy.
For the last two games, Barkov was not the best villain (yes he invaded Urzikstan but he only appeared in very few scenes), while in MWII we literally only chase Hassan around, like Valeria and Graves were a better villain (they were not the supposedly main villain).
MWII lacked the grit and guts that the OG!MW had. OG!MW did NOT hesitate on taking down cities, nations, and most importantly they DID NOT hesitate to KILL OFF characters or at least let something BAD happen to the characters. Like for instance, in the end of OG!MW2, Soap fucking got STABBED IN THE CHEST by Shepherd. NOW THAT IS THE SHIT.
(+ there are dramatic quick time events. BRING BACK QUICK TIME EVENTS)
Again, for those who don't know, OG!MW3 ended with ALL of 141 dying except Price. Yes you read that right.
Now, what I would want to see is for the reboot!Makarov be the destructive force that he is. Take down cities, nations. Kill people without remorse. SHOW US that he is indeed the ultimate enemy. How?
Let bad things happen to the boys. Let 141 FAIL. Not the "oh we fail, try next time." But the "people-fuxking- died-critical-consequences-perilous-dreadful-we FUCKED UP" Failure. The failure where you can't go back. The failure that has timely consequences. Where it's irrevirsable.
Let them fail, and then let us see how they cope with failure. Let us see how they come back together. Let us see a development on the characters on how they should face this archenemy.
Who do I think would die?
I have one person on my mind.
Kate Laswell.
Imagine 141 without Laswell's voice to guide them. Imagine a mission without Laswell's voice of reason. Voice of security that everything will be fine.
Imagine Price losing Laswell.
Now that is a version of Price that I would want to see.
This campaign will be interesting...

the older MW games really seem like a 'Bad Ending' style whereas the new one seems like 'Have a good ending'
Very much agree with this!
You learn like extremely quickly when playing the original trilogy that the characters you play as, are not safe. They make it clear from literally the second (third if FNG counts as a mission I can't remember) mission in the game that they are not afraid to kill any characters.
Two playable character die in the first game (to be fair one of them you "play" as for one mission and you really don't do much but still). Outside of that, they introduce you to several side characters who you grow to like only to watch them be killed as well. Griggs and Gaz's deaths happen moments apart from one another as well and there is nothing you can do about it as the player.
And the games are very harsh with the characters that they kill. They don't shy away from showing you how just like that, a character is dead. Gaz, Griggs, and Ghost all die within a few seconds. Their deaths are quick.
I believe the only two playable characters in the entire game who we know for sure live are Ramirez and Frost (I assume Price lived, but its left pretty vague considering all of his injuries).
At the end of Modern Warfare 2, we as the player had witnessed at least 6 main character deaths with 3 of those being characters we played as. Compare to the current MW2 where we've lost no main characters.
Its actually one of the reasons that I've been so surprised with how nervous people seem to be about MW3?? Like so many people are like "they're gonna kill Ghost and Gaz and Soap again!!" And like, while I do think its possible a character will die (though if what was said about mw3 supposed to be a dlc thats just getting extended then I actually think we're probably pretty safe. Idk I just feel its unlikely that they would have killed a character off in what was meant to be a dlc) I seriously doubt it will be several of them at once.
I actually think the newer games have a problem of NOT killing characters. In my opinion, the older games killed too many people (after Roach died in MW2 I feel like most of the deaths were expected), versus the newer games that seem afraid to kill anyone. As much as I hate to say it, Alex should be dead right now (please don't hate me guys I hate to say it but come on).
They've backed themselves into a corner where they've backtracked on a death already and not killed anyone, so when it comes time for a character to actually die (my bets on Soap, soz) a lot of people are going to struggle with believing if its true or not.
I think that with what they've done so far, it wouldn't hurt them to just not kill anyone off. Their fans wouldn't be mad so long as the story is satisfying. That being said, the two new games have (in my opinion) not been as good at building a story as the og trilogy. Like we're just now getting introduced to Makarov, and I do not trust that they won't try to rush the entire Makarov storyline into just one game. Like the OG games, the Makarov story should span two games in my opinion. He is THE villain of the COD MW games with his claws going all the way back into even the first game. So the fact that they didn't even really seem to start setting him up until MW2 concerns me a bit.
Now I could be wrong, they could surprise me. This was very ranty, and I apologize for that but yeah, I fully agree the newer games definitely seem to be more geared toward a "happy ending" style versus the older games which I would describe as a "bitter ending" (because while we won, we lost everyone along the way so was it really a victory?).

i have eeped, woken up and cried
I have some thoughts. MW3 spoilers below.
Major thing out of the way; everyone is gonna experience the campaign at different lengths depending on skill and difficulty they choose. I started around 9/10pm and finished at 5am, so it took me quite some time, predominantly with issues in the Weapons Free missions and the Ally AI just never backing me up? Felt a lil like Rudy in the Ghost Team mission yknow?
But it was a fun experience in gameplay standpoint. There was elements of both MW and MWII alongside some new things that I still gotta get used to once MP drops. But story wise?
Something felt weird. Like it wasn't as consise as MWII with its storytelling. All that took, what? A few days? Maybe even weeks to come to completion. With this game, bar the flashback mission, I never knew how closely related each mission was unless it was explicitly clear, like Passenger and the mission with Farah inspecting the debris. You know that was only hours apart from one another.
Characters also felt a little odd. Like there was moments where it felt like yeah, these are the crew I know and others where it's like....who am I listening to right now? There was just an air of tension with it all, and yes with who they were dealing with ofc there's tension...but idk again the flow wasn't there like the other two games.
Okay elephant in the room; Soap and Makarov. The amount of times Soap was on the verge of whipping out his pistol or knife and just ending it and no one letting him? If Makarov was such a major threat; sometimes the information he may or may not have had just isn't worth it. Thousands would be alive if Johnny was just let loose and take out the trash. But because he wasn't he's now dead.
And Makarov lives. What the fuck, Activision? Infinity Ward? Fucking Sledgehammer?! What was the point of killing off someone who they know damn well is beloved in the fandom (yes, he died in the OG but hear me out) as is his actor, let the baddie get away, and then just....end it with the 141 spreading his ashes. No revenge for Soap, no honouring what he wanted from the beGINNING, no nothing. Just somewhat dull words from the team, his ashes spread and roll credits.
It's giving rushed story for no fucking reason. I wouldn't be so mad if they just did something after that. Sure, one could say this is them building up to MWIV but it also could have been dealt with one more mission. It truly feels like a slap to the face for the fans, cause we know OG Soap's death was agonising but it had its resolution with Price honouring his men.
If this was the second game then it would also make more sense, build up to the conclusion. But no, this was what most of us expected to be the big finale of Makarov and this current story of Modern Warfare, and it wasn't. Just more prolonged waiting that they're probably going to rush to get out next year. It's truly a shame on the big trio working on this game, but also towards the new fans and in my eyes, Neil too. This was his big break in sorts and it's clear by fan interaction he loves being Soap. I'm glad he seems to be the main protagonist of Zombies which makes me hope he'll be in more things or some pre campaign things but damn. Imagine getting the role of a beloved character, giving them an incredible performance just to be shot point blank and given a dull ending. That would make me feel betrayed but ofc I won't speak for Neil, I have 0 clue how he feels on all this. Hell he could be all for it. Just...truly sucks from a fans perspective.
One final thing is the questions and confusion that ig are open ended because whoop de doo another game, more cash for Activision. For starters; who was the 'Shadow' giving Makarov intel? Was it supposed to be Shepard? Considering he was kidnapped and all that would make sense, but Makarov specifically said Shadow. In my eyes if he had meant Shepard, he would have said US Official or something.
Speaking of Shadows; why did Graves sell him out? What's he gonna gain from that? A redemption arc? Fuck that shit I didn't spend almost two hours fighting the tank for him to come back and be all "am sowwy"
Was Urzikstan truly cleared of any wrong doing or is it one of those things where it's like "Welp it's one General's word against our opinions". Also not to get into irl things but seeing some of the stuff during the Passenger mission had me thinking of how the world is currently with certain ongoing fights. Sometimes COD gets the realism down.
Maybe it was because of the situation they were in and how big the threat was, but there wasn't much of a dynamic going on with the teams. At most, there was some Soap and Ghost banter, and then Graves with his Shadows but that was kinda it. No idle chatter just head in the game type of deal. Does make sense ofc but maybe that's why the characters really felt off at times.
One that's just a personal thing; since it's confirmed that at least in 2019, Price, Soap and Ghost knew one another, makes sense cause the trio were SAS, but it's got me thinking why is Ghost the only one allowed to call him Johnny? It was teased in MWII with the interaction in Prison Break but...it's not been elaborated on. Even Price, when Soap was losing his shit over Makarov in the Heli, called him John.
What did Ghost do or say that Soap decided he could allow him to call him Johnny? This isn't anyway me asking "OooOO, are they fruity???" no I'm curious. If it was a thing he allowed his superiors that he was friendly with to say, then Price would be included that. Alejandro and Rudy would be included. What makes Ghost so special?
The last thing that my grief riddled mind can think of is where is Soap's family? I don't think I can truly believe he doesn't have one. It's canon he joined because of his cousin so...why was the 141 the ones to spread his ashes? Again it could have been his wish and all...shit just also adds to the rushed story feeling. I ain't asking for the MacTavishs to make an appearance or be canon or whatever but as someone who has a loved ones ashes, the small urn you get would have made more sense. That they decided with the ashes his family gave them to throw them off the cliffside in what I assume is Scotland.
If he didn't have family then holy shit it makes his death even more hurtful but no way impactful.
I'm just rambling angrly now so I'll stop my thoughts. Overall the game was fun, interesting concept with the Weapons Free missions but the story was lackluster compared to the previous games, as well as a slap to the face for Soap's character. It was just there for the sake of sadness.
I wasn't expecting a happy ending, I was just hoping for a honourable conclusion.

MW3. I HAVE SO MANY WORDS.
Rambles and theories Incoming. Dating this 18th Aug 2023 to prove I'm right and I predicted it when the campaign drops
Tumblr media
Okay number one, this parallel to the loose ends in og mw2, it's in there for a reason, but that's the only vague hint to ghost dying so I'm not really gonna take that as a definite. It's definitely setting up hurting him. If he gets badly hurt, someone will take the mask off him and we might get a face. Don't think so though.
ALSO SHIFTY JOHNNY MACTAVISH IM REALLY SCARED.
Tumblr media
Bro honestly doesn't look 100% like he's all there and it's making me think he gets brainwashed by makarov/konni group. The red lighting, lack of voice in the trailer and the red on the bundle skin you get, it's making it all seem fucked. If this actually happens, I'm gonna be so mad but so interested too. People are saying he'd betray 141 and I know he wouldn't do it willingly. I 100% think brainwashed soap will shoot either Gaz or Ghost. Probably Ghost.
Tumblr media
THE POSSIBLE PRICE DEATH IS PAINING MEEEE
I will make some points
Johnny is actually here with Gaz so I'm thinking maybe this will be before he goes nuts
Gaz is gonna get shot trying to carry price to exfil. We just know it.
They wouldn't spoil a major death like this in the trailer, I think it'll be like they've just got out of a really tight pinch and price got hit in the ribs or something and can't breathe properly so Gaz and Soap freak out about it
Tumblr media
NO RUSSIAN IS ON THE PLANE I REPEAT NO RUSSIAN IS ON THE PLANE. this is gonna be so fucked oh my god. If you think about how far societal palates and content classifications have come since 2009, this one is going to be brutal. I think it will be an unskippable cutscene to open the campaign, rather than a player-involved mission.
Tumblr media
They're also doing a magnificent job of hiding the gunman's face, meaning it's done on purpose, meaning it'll be a suprise reveal in the actual game AND IM CALLING IT NOW, it's either someone from the original mw franchise or Alex in the undercover role.
Tumblr media
No theory here gaz is just beautiful
Tumblr media
Okay but them being separated when the missiles go off is freaking me out it leaves too much room for disaster.

Talking about major spoilers
You can't compare OG MW3 and Reboot MW3 story wise because they are completely different. Like with Soap's death in OG, the reason Price reacted so strongly was because Soap was all he had left. He had just gotten out of the Gulag and finally reunited with Soap after all these years. Also, Soap didn't immediately die. He got crushed by rubble from an explosion. Price was dragging his ass around while he was bleeding out because Price was freaking the fuck out. Now, in the reboot, it's completely different. Price still has Gaz, Ghost, and even Laswell. He's not lonely, lost all his men, or even more fucked up because he went to the Gulag. He's still normal (in Price's standards). He's been with Soap since Soap came onto Task Force 141. Nothing major has happened to either of them (I mean besides the whole Alone mission. But even then, Soap was fine.) In the Reboot, Soap's death was immediate. Makarov shot him in the head, and he died immediately. Everyone there was in shock, but there was a fucking bomb behind them that they had to disarm or it would explode. But even after that, they were all silent because they were still in shock. Ghost shouted Soap's name when he saw what happened and stayed with his body while Gaz and Price disarmed the bomb. That is the most emotion you will get out of Ghost. Price didn't want to say that one of them was KIA. He paused before he said that. They had a funeral for Soap, which shows how they are affected by this. You have to read their faces and body language. Like for Price, Soap's death is going to mark the beginning of his downfall. Price was already pissed off and freaking out throughout the whole campaign. We already seen how this has fucked with Price because he fucking killed Shepherd at the Pentagon. This was not a decision he made clear minded, and none of his future decisions will be. Like Soap's death is not comparable to his OG one because different shit has happened, and different shit will continue to happen.

MAJOR MODERN WARFARE 3 SPOILERS BELOW!!
Modern Warfare 3's plot was repetitive and unnecessarily long. The missions were the same missions we've played or seen from the previous games: stolen missiles, chemical warfare. Then we have Makarov terrorizing some public place 4 (?) times in a row -- its not a pattern, it's probably a cycle. There was so little plot progression, and it's so blatant they're stretching this series as much as they can. We could have gotten a better story if they made this a trilogy.
Okay, now that I'm typing this I'm going to summarize what progress we've made so far, correct me if im wrong...
1. Makarov is introduced, first thing he does is set up the world war by framing a country.
2. Soap dies by Makarov's hand, which marks the peak climax between Makarov and Price, or in this case TF141's conflict.
3. General Shepard dies, Makarov is still on the loose, and thus, marking the start of the world war (?).
^^^ these are only HALF of the OG's MW3, and that game was about an hour longer than the reboot! Honestly, this disappointed me and now I'm not as hyped to wait for the next game. I guess I expected a more colorful story telling like MW2019 had?
Soap's death was cruel, but in a story telling perspective, was executed well because it provoked a lot of emotional impact. We got to see Price mourn, and this time he's joined with Simon and Gaz, a luxury we didn't have in the original. I hoped, deep in my heart, I hoped it was different this time.
I wished the writers wouldn't do the ol' vengeance cliché to drive the story forward, and instead have us rooting for a good ending. In my opinion, they killed Soap because 'nostalgia'. Which is stupid, because why the fuck would we want to see them die a second time again? I actually wished they killed Price instead and have Ghost leading 141. That would have been more interesting if they wanted to write a character death so bad. Perchance.
My favorite part of the whole game was Nik jamming to what sounded like Slaughter To Prevail. We'd vibe...
