Stucky stans are so fragile that all it took was Bruce saying that Steve had a casual hook up in the 40s during his tours for them to start sheeting in rage.
Literally saw someone say "so they're erasing Bucky?" In full seriousness. What the fuck!? Erasing what!? Their nonexistent romantic relationship in canon!?
I love my ships, I like talking about them and creating content around them, but I also know that there is a difference between CANON and HEADCANON people!
Like please, be serious!

I know you don’t watch stranger things BUT I do notice with Reylos they tend to get attracted to the weird and questionable ships for other medias/fandoms
So I noticed that 1) a lot of them like Billy (racist misogynist abuser) and woobify him and 2) ship a dead 17 year old cheerleader with a 20 year old AND argue with people (mostly minors who bring up a concern) calling them antis and misogynists and biphobia (20 year old is potentially queer coded which I know… it’s a whole i won’t get into lmfao) and blame “puritanical” shit (whenever I see someone called a puritan or puritanical, I know it’s about to be some bs). Idk about the actress of said cheerleader being a reylo but she does ship said ship (on every single platform even on tumblr, practically humoring the Stan’s/shippers and siccing them on “haters”)
But it’s murky bc the ages of the 2 characters aren’t 100% confirmed but no matter the girl is a minor and the guy is gotta be at least 19, more likely 20. So with all the weirdness and nasty behavior it does NOT surprise me so many are reylos
that's about chrissy and eddie right? yeah it's weird but im not surprised they'd be into that (especially when steve is an adult and right there). and honestly anyone who still stans billy at this point is just openly racist, like caleb has even said the dude was a racist. ntm max was clearly severely traumatized by the abuse she had to face from billy.

it is really messed up. people say that, since he hasn't labeled himself publicly, harry's a cishet. he's only dated women publicly, so he has to be! ...right? when that's so wrong!!! why are internet gays so insistent upon making cishet the default and assuming that people are cishets until they say otherwise? assuming someone's sexuality is just as bad as assuming someone's gender, and it isn't automatically okay when you're doing it to a celebrity

how do i even BEGIN to unpack all of the transphobia (”inclusive of transgenders!! the top and bottom stripes represent trans men and trans women bc they’re not real men/women!”), nbyphobia (”inclusive of all genders unlike the other orientations, including nonbinary, xenogenders, genderfluid, agender, and more because those are all obviously separate and not included in any sexuality as-is! ntm that the black stripe in the flag is explicitly to show that we include agenders to make them stick out against their will 🤗”), biphobia (”we’re like the pan community except even worse! because we are pansexuality with admittedly a better name and prettier flag but we cause the exact same level of harm to the bi community in the exact same way!”), and literally just queerphobia in general (”unlike every other orientation, we love people for who they are on the inside!”).
i’m probably missing a whole bunch of other shit too, honestly. it never fails to amaze me how much worse it gets over there.
but are we surprised? the lgbta wiki has unashamedly ruined the lesbian label; of course they’re going to ruin the rest of the community with pointless microlabels too.

i'm genuinely glad you call out the thing about transmasc selfshippers saying that. in /my/ experience as unaligned nb, ive seen them pull [anyone that isn't transmasc] into the group of "they're hogging all the attention and opressing us" which is,, weird when most selfshippers i know are transmasc, and INCREDIBLY frustrating to my specific struggles w/ misgendering. ik it wasnt the main topic but i wanted to talk about it since (1/2)
(2/2) it drives me to a point: when talking about "minorities", ive never heard transfems be acknowledged? much less recognized in general. ntm, not even in pride month have i seen them be celebrated. ive only seen 2 transfem selfshippers in the community, and considering that we DO have trans selfshippers,,, i feel its the transmisogyny. also as a nb i feel it speaks volumes when people boil being nb to "woman lite", or "binding" bc it excludes so many amab nonbinary. its frustrating.
YEAH like genuinely i think there are a lot of problems that carry over from other LGBT spaces to here. like biphobia and transphobia in assuming anyone who “looks female” and ships with a man is a cis straight woman, transmisogyny and just a lack of understanding concerning trans women’s experiences, imposing a SECOND binary onto nonbinary people, assuming all nonbinary people are afab and some degree of transmasc (which....Is also transmisogynistic if you think about it).
but the transmisogyny is a big one and I really feel like it isn’t something that can go undiscussed any longer. we all need to have a big conversation about seeing and welcoming trans women specifically, understanding their struggles, and NOT fucking “reclaiming” transmisogynistic slurs as transmascs like Jesus Christ please stop doing that

(re post 171567544487) i get where this is coming from but why single out shippers of gay ships? huge rivaling m/f ships had some of the nastiest female character hate i ever saw tbh. specifying non-canon gay ships also seems pretty unfair because canon gay at all is still pretty rare. ntm a lot of the ppl accusing others of hating female characters are super misogynist about rl women (see: fetishization discourse) idk sorry for bothering you about this, maybe i'm being over-defensive here
I mean sure, there’s plenty of misogyny to be found among m/f ships, especially when there’s a love triangle (or potential love triangle) involved - just look at the way so many finnrey shippers treat Rose, for example - but there’s also a long and pervasive history of misogyny within slash fandoms. It’s sometimes seen as less overt - or at least as less bad - since it’s a m/m ship and therefore more “progressive” or whatever, and because there’s not the obvious woman vs woman dynamic that is so tiresome and overdone in every shitty teen drama ever.
However, it’s still there, and it’s pretty insidious. Just look, for example at the way johnlock shippers reacted as a whole when it turned out that Watson was gonna get married to a woman. I think that’s what pisses a lot of people off, because it’s hidden beneath this veil of fauxgressive rhetoric and posturing, and because so often it comes down to m/m shippers ripping female characters to shreds in “defense” of a pair of pretty (usually white) bishies. Yes, this was around even in the day when “bishies” was said unironically, and it actually turned me off to a lot of slash fandoms back then, too, because back in the less-woke days m/m shippers reacted to the presence of women with a lot more open revulsion.
Oh, and another reason it annoys me among slash fandoms: it’s usually accompanied by rampant biphobia. The idea that a character in a m/m ship could be anything but Pure Unadulterated Gay is treated as gross and it’s almost seen as an insult if you now have to hc your fave pretty boy as bi instead of gay. Even though, you know, bi men exist.
Anyway misogyny exists everywhere in fandom, but it seems to especially lurk like dust bunnies in the fandoms where there are a plethora of pretty boys. And it’s really, really fucking annoying when that misogyny is hidden behind progressive “This Is For The Gheys” rhetoric and accompanied by a dash of biphobia.
Now as for the way fandoms treat rl women...well I’ve personally seen misogynistic bullshit equally from all corners of fandom and it’s shitty no matter what. But, again, it especially irritates me when it’s hidden beneath any sort of “progressive” cloak.
