OH YEAH HARUTO SAID WE SHOULD TRY CONTACTING HIS GRANDPARENTS AT SINCE THEY CAN BE HELPFUL IN THE MISSION
Wait, really?
So it really is Haruka-kun and Asuna-chan?
Man, I haven't seen them in so long! Maybe we can finally catch up after all this time...
Wait, so...who are they?
When Hiroshi and I were in high school, those two were our closest friends. We'd do everything together: go on double dates, festivals, school events, one time we went to an onsen.
Life kinda took us in different directions, and we eventually fell out of touch.
Wow, huh...
Surprised I had a life before you? Crazy, right?
Jokes aside, I'm sure I have their number somewhere, and if not I can find it.
Wait so, you guys were friends in high school, and they're also the grandparents of our son-in-law.
Maybe. I don't know if they have kids, but if so, we may have the other fourth of this equation.
I'd also like to see if maybe I can help connect everyone else's family trees as well. Maybe that could help us learn something?

No one is asking you to get rid of your morals, Hajime, God no. It's just that, there are going to be times when you will have to compromise with your morals. Especially since we've *already seen what will happen if we let Shirogane live.* It's awful to go through that, but that's just how reality is sometimes. It's all shades of gray, and not every solution is going to have a nice, pretty bow to it. I just hope by the end of it, you'll be able to make peace with it eventually.
...How am I supposed to make peace with any of this?
I stick to my morals and people die. I drop those morals and people still die! So what the hell am I supposed to do?! Just nothing?!
...Hajime, I meant what I said before. I'll kill her for you if that makes things easier.
Same here.
That's not what I want at all!
Just...why? What's the point?
What's the point of having any sense of morality if it's just gonna get dropped when things get serious? When we need it most, it's almost always the first thing that gets thrown away.
Sticking to your principles should never be more important than your life. Especially not now.
Hajime...these people are the ones who started all this. Shirogane is targeting our family- all these families- because of what Enoshima wants.
It's not immoral or wrong to defend yourself against people who want to kill you.
...
...I want to believe you. But...I just can't accept that killing is ever okay. Not after what I did before...
You're not a killer, Haji. We know that.
I don't ever want to go back to that. I just feel like, even by agreeing to this...I'm making it happen all over again.
And now...now I understand why Nakamura hates the phrase "for the greater good."
I know, nothing I'm saying makes any sense. I'm just...still trying to process all this...

Hi guys ^^
Are you telling me that Erika was in Kaede place during the killing game?
*On the car ride back*
Among a lot of things we learned back there.
...
Haji?
Hajime? You've been quiet this whole time. Are you alright?
...No. I'm not.
I'm not trying to diminish anything here, but Hajime, isn't the whole point of all this to change the future?
If you stop Shirogane, then none of that will ever have happened, right? So...does it really matter?
Yes. It does matter.
I just...I hate this. I hate everything about this. I hate that we really don't have a choice here, that it's all we can do to stop Shirogane...
...I hate her even more...
And I hate myself for being stupid enough to think that...
That what? Killing is wrong?
...That things could ever actually change with me.

Considering the tight deadlines the group has had before, I think a week is enough to take down this parasite
Yeah...it's plenty of time.
And that means you guys should get on it. Do whatever you need to do.
Right now, I just...I wanna go home. I have a lot to think about.
Hajime?
Mom, please. Not...Not now.
...
Haji?
If you want, we can come with you.
Yes. A-And I'd...I'd like to back to Hope's Peak, please. I want to see Kotoko.
C'mon, guys...
Indeed...
Just...catch me up on everything when you have a plan, alright?
_____________________________________________________
I'm...sorry you had to see all this, Hinata-san. I truly am.

It's alright. It had to happen eventually.

Alright so what’s the game plan?
Sunako: This is where you'll find Shirogane. The National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry in Kodaira.
It's where she does most of her research, although I doubt her brain backups are here. They'll be hidden in some out-of-the-way location, I'm sure, but somewhere that can be detected.
_________________________________________________
And that's where I come in.
I'll let my mom know.
I'll tell my brother too.
So...what? Is someone is gonna run up and shoot her in the face?
Poisonous gas such as carbon monoxide could work just as well. It's a lab environment, a gas leak could be used as a cover story.
...You came up with that pretty quick.
It's...one possibility, to be sure.
The downside is she's well aware we're after her. She already had backup plans at DLTA, and we can be sure she's willing to endanger other lives if it means stopping us.
She doesn't even place value on her own life. The duplicate of her we faced committed suicide to avoid capture.
That's an unfortunate conundrum.
Well, first thing we should do is notify the police. She's already suspicious, and we could have her arrested. We'll need to distribute Nakamura's medication to be certain.
Uh-Umm...the problem is, if Shirogane was working with Kinjo Juu, couldn't the police already have been infected? Plus...y-y'know...
Yeah, they're still kind understaffed after what happened with your egg donor.
What about Megumi-san? The one who shot Kinjo?
If we can get her involved, it's really not us getting our hands dirty, right? We're just arresting her, and then a government agent handles it for us.
Assuming everything goes to plan, but...you never know.
We do know some people in the criminal underground, and I'm sure plenty of them would be fine with gunning this crazy bitch down.
Well...maybe. It all depends on how much time we have. What's our deadline?
_________________________________________________
February 27th. After that, Shirogane becomes unreachable.

Just a week to get it done?
Sucks, doesn't it?

You know what would be an absolutely horrifying twist at the end of all this? If Shirogane is already a body snatcher, what if by this point she’s found a way to split her consciousness across multiple bodies, so killing her own body achieves absolutely nothing because there’s still a Tsumugi hivemind out there.
Oh, that's already been on my mind since we heard about this. And you're right, that's 100% a possibility. I'd call it a certainty.
Brainscans can be copied and pasted just like any other program, and they can be transferred into anything sufficient to hold them. She's bound to have plenty of backups out there.
Not surprising, given how long she was able to survive in that future. She's probably got plenty.
So our first priority should be finding and destroying those?
Yes, but that's easier said than done. I doubt she's hidden then in plain sight. They're somewhere secure, and somewhere with a big-enough server farmer to house them all.
Alright, leave that one to me. I'll go online, see how many I can find and maybe we can cross-reference from there.
...What about bodies?
We should consider the idea that she's already bodysnatched more than a few, shouldn't we? If it can happen once...
I hate to say it, but you're right.
The good news is, until she actually hits someone with her flashback light, they're still themselves. Remember, there are three steps:
Infection by the algae, such as through contaminated food or water.
The algae creates new light-sensitive cells in the retina that connect to the brain.
Exposure to her lights, which alter the structure of the brain, including making it a copy of her own.
Someone could have the algae their body and still be themselves, they're just vulnerable to her lights. There's also nothing necessarily stopping her from doing something else as well, like just altering existing memories.
And we've got the algaecide, so we're good there. But, is it possible for someone who's already infected to be cured of those cells in their retina or whatever?
Yes, but I'm gonna need to make a new biocide for that. It's gonna be a bit more work.
But if their mind has already been taken over, unless we have a brain scan of how that person was before, there's nothing we can do. They're gone.
Alright, get on that as soon as you can. We need every precaution we can get and we'll need to clean up her mess as soon as possible.
So...any way of us all getting brain scans done just to be safe?
Maybe, but it's too expensive and it would take too long. We only have a few days to do this.
What about just a few of us? Like whoever goes after Shirogane?
That's...probably doable. We just need a plan of attack first.
Woo! I might not get all this time travel stuff, but I was paying attention there!

Let's not forget that even before this mission, she already bodysnatched a person!
Ah yes, Dr. Okamoto.
He was a doctor at DLTA Hospital in Hokkaido, where there was a high-priority patient that Shirogane wanted dead. She stole his body to get close to them, and nearly blew up the hospital just to spite us.
She tried blowing up a hospital?
Somehow she gets more and more charming the more we learn about her.
The one highlight was Nanami Harumi beating Shirogane to a pulp. Stealing the body of an old man put her at a serious disadvantage.

Sunako. There's something else you still haven't mentioned. Something else that let Tsumugi get away with all her crimes just as much, if not more so than the Death of Personality. Something that is the cornerstone of us Anons hatred towards that bitch. Everything we've heard until now, for us Anons, has only ever been the whipped cream, sprinkles and cherry on top of this shit-stain sundae we call Tsumugi Shirogane. Why have you not told them?
...I know this is what you've all been curious about. And I know you want me to answer them, and I really wish I could.
But to be honest, I don't know. We still don't know. We can gather information about the future, but it needs to be from someone's memories, and Esumi is the only one left who was close enough to all this to really give us any real context.
The hard part about precognitive analysis is that you have very little context for what's going on. You just have to make a guess.
I suppose maybe you could find something out about Shirogane that sheds light on all this, if you're really curious.
But in the end, why does it matter? You know she does it, you know she tramples on the memories of everyone and makes it about her "real fiction." What matters is stopping her, not understanding her.

What about Korekiyo’s older sister?
She was real, and unfortunately, she really was ill.

What of Kutsuki-san and the children's parents?
__________________________________________________
Dead as well by 2070, I'm afraid.
But I wouldn't concern yourself with whatever happened to Kutsuki-san's ex-husband. He was not a good man.
__________________________________________________
Wait, but then, wouldn't that mean her kid wouldn't be born if she never meets him?
As it turns out, not really. It's too complicated to get into right now, but it seems like the same person can come into being even if they're born at a different time or have a different parent. Not identical, obviously, but close enough.
Okay, so we're not at risk of accidentally erasing people from history. Good to know.
Just as well. Kutsuki-san deserves a better partner than a vile demon.

We anons said that the time-travelers should be better being away from the front lines, to make sure Wallpaper-Chan doesn't mind-jack them, but I believe that Sora could participate in her digital form.
Because, like, how Wallpaper-Chan is going to mind-jack someone who is a digital entity with her brain-bending algae?
Yeah, Sora-san's the exception here. The algae only works with fully organic brains.
I am invincible to her weapons.
Wait, you are?
Oh yeah, I'm an android. You guys met me in my AI form.
Neat, huh?
...Anything else major we should know before we continue?

So what you're trying to say is that although we have to kill Shirogane, Hajime can still use his no-kill policy for future/other threats?
I...
I guess I never considered that...
Hinata, I get that this must've been...painful. And I apologize, because I'm gonna sound harsh here.
But I hope seeing what happens if we leave Shirogane alive has taught you an important lesson.
...It really has.
We can't approach every single problem the same way, and with some problems, there simply isn't a peaceful solution. With Shirogane, it sounds like there's no chance for negotiation.
And after what she did to everyone...our children and grandchild...I'm ready to end this bitch.
...
But they're right, this isn't your fault. You made one mistake and it had bad consequences, and we just need to make it right.
...I just...hate asking someone else to clean up my mess. And it's not that I like Shirogane- god no, I fucking hate her- but...there's just some things I can't bring myself to do...
Hinata, if it helps, I feel the same way. I'm...not sure I can help with that part of the mission.
Then don't. If it's too much for you both, there's nothing wrong with staying off of it.
The important thing is, one way or another, we put an end to Shirogane, right?
_______________________________________________________
Indeed. She needs to be stopped, whatever it takes.
And then, when all your grandkids are safe, they can see what kind of person you really are, Hinata-kun. Someone who worked hard to keep everyone safe, and managed to do it over and over while sticking to his principles.
And when things got difficult, he had people who were willing to go that extra mile for him.

Hajime. Listen to me. None of this is your fault. Kaede was grieving and hurt and that is why she said that. We anons here, with the benefit of clear minds, know that Shirogane is the one to blame.
...
C'mon, let's go back in. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by what else they have to say.
Nobody's mad at you, Haji.
...Alright, lead the way.
I'll also get some bandages for your hand!
__________________________________________
Hinata-san? Are...Are you alright?
__________________________________________
That was difficult enough to watch as an outside observer. But for you all...
Esumi, what about you? That was all about your life.
I'm managing. But this is all news to us. You've had to see all this for, what, a year?
All that and more.
__________________________________________
...I wish there was an easier way to tell you, but this was all we could really do.
But...at the very least, do you understand the gravity of this situation?
__________________________________________
Of course I do. You're saying I can't keep going on the way I have.
__________________________________________
Huh?
__________________________________________
That...if I want any hope of actually saving the future, I need to finally just give up pretending I could go on without killing. It's really the only thing that I-
__________________________________________
Hinata Hajime, that's not what I'm saying at all.
__________________________________________
But you just showed us what'll happen if Shirogane doesn't die!
__________________________________________
Yes. Because she's the exception, not the rule.
You've been so cruel and so hard on yourself this entire time, and I understand why. Seeing that awful future is devastating, every time...
But how many times have you been able to find a solution that doesn't involve any loss of life? How many lives have you saved in the process?
__________________________________________
...
__________________________________________
Shirogane was the one person against whom you hesitated, because you couldn't adapt your plans to deal with her. And that happens, even to the best planners out there.
And...even putting aside how much I despise her, you've seen that, objectively, the world would be better off if she was gone. That is not a failure on your part, it's a testament to how dangerous she really is.
So yes, while she has to die, I don't think anyone here would think less of you for it. And it doesn't mean that you have to abandon your beliefs, especially when they've been successful up to now.

Yikes. But, uh, I can't blame Kaede since actions have consequences. And unfortunately, the action of sparing Shirogane only led to so many people not only dying, but suffering from Death of Personality. Especially the victims of the killing games, which includes the descendants of *everyone we know of.*
That's everything. I hope you can at least understand why I held off explaining all this until now. It was never because I didn't trust you or thought I knew better...
It's just...I don't think there's any way to sugarcoat something like that.

All this...because we...

Soo what's going to happen to what's left of Team Danganronpa?
Someone's gotta clean up the rest of that mess.
You all take care, okay? Especially you, Esumi.
I will. Until next time, Shinabe-san.
We beat Shirogane. That's the important part...and it means everyone we lost can finally rest in peace...including my moms.
See you 'round, kids.
*With that, Mako walks off*
...We don't even remember our parents. How's this going to work?
Well, Yumeno and Saihara have people who can help re-educate them on the matter. Yumeno's mom is still out there, we know that. But for you, Maki-chan...I think that's something your parents are gonna have to handle.
I doubt your parents are ever going to speak to me again.
...This wasn't your fault.
I know...
*Kaede stares out at the ruins of the dome visible in the distance*
Akamatsu? It's time to go.
...It doesn't feel over. I don't think it ever will. Not for me.
Same here. I've been at this for decades, kid.
But I guess we can start somewhere.
...Why didn't he just stop this?
...
*Without an answer, Masa pulls her back to the car*
*Kaede wipes her tears, looks back one last time, and joins everyone in the ride back*

You told them that you were going to tell them the answer to... everything that just happened.
Do you know the full story of what happened? After all, you're the granddaughter of the guy that... basically caused all this disaster bc of his massive trauma, tbh.
Of course I know. It all started thanks to my great aunt.
A long time ago, my grandfather had the chance to stop all this. He could've killed Shirogane and stopped all this from ever happening! My mom's told me the whole story.
He had a huge problem with the idea of killing, and he always tried to find another way. That was one reason why Death of Personality became a thing. And that whole time, he sat on his hands and didn't do anything to really stop her, because he was too afraid of the consequences.
And look what happened! How many people have died?! Hundreds? Maybe thousands?!
Akamatsu...I knew your grandfather. And I have to say, your anger's justified.
I never believed he was a bad man, but...seems like he hated himself more than he loved you all.
Why didn't he stop this...? Why'd everyone have to die?
Why'd my dad and sister have to die?!
...The important thing is, it's all over now.
Yeah...it's over.
...But it never should've gotten this bad in the first place. It's all his fault.
That's the real truth: Shirogane might've done all this, but my family's own stupidity helped make it possible.
And I'll never forgive them. Never.
...
...
C'mon...let's just get out of here already.
...If you all hate me for this, for what they all did...I understand.
No...I can only imagine how hard this must be for you too.
I think we all just want to go home.
Yeah. Me too.

I'm sure that Maki would be very surprised once they told her about her having been dating Korekiyo pre-killing game, even knowing about the memory tampering
That guy and I were a couple, huh?
That whole "incestuous serial killer" thing was a complete fabrication. The real Shinguji Korekiyo was a loving boyfriend to you for as long as I can remember.
She ruined my relationship...and made me fall for someone else...
But Kaito...he was an idiot, but he was always supportive. Even while he was dying, he wanted to save us, he wanted us to live, he....h-he...
I...I still don't even know whose feelings are actually mine!
Harukawa-san...
What about you, Akamatsu? Do you have anyone left?
Just my mom...she's been taking everything pretty hard.
But for the record, I know exactly where Shirogane got her inspiration for what she did to your boyfriend.
And you're all probably gonna hate me for saying this.
