Workbench Wednesday.
Finding myself at a stuck point on the castle, gotta figure out how to connect to the ground without actually connecting to the ground.
Also this Academy SBD, I hate this kit. Too fiddly.

Workbench Wednesday: been busy lately edition.
I fixed the split in the fuselage on the Mitchell, and even managed to mix up a good color to patch it with. Got decals on too. No specific plane to model it after, just a generic North Africa scheme. I just need a name for the nose now.
I've also been working on the mountain for Ober Holdenburg. Lots of drops and switchbacks, lots of little scraps of foam all over. I really need to convert to hot glue.

Still carving little blocks into cliffs. It takes time to make mountains.

Workbench Wednesday.
Did I mention that I hate the Academy SBD kit? Cuz I hate this kit. I wish I had been taking pictures as I was building it, because this is the 3rd paintjob I did on this kit. The first I just didn't like, then I tried to fix it with the brush. That didn't work either, so I resprayed it with a different medium blue, which I pretty happy with. I forgot that I took the wadding out of the cockpit though, so I ruined that paintwork also. And at some point I broke the rear gunner seat out, which rubs because I want to build it with the canopy open. Kinda want to get this thing over with.
Meanwhile, Ober Holdenburg is going great, I've almost finished connecting the top to the ground. I started with the building up top, and then built the mountain downwards to the ground. Next up will be filling it in to complete the look.

Started filling gaps on the mesa for Ober Holdenburg. 64oz of spackle later, I'm about a third done.

I’m doing it backwards this week. I posted something finished on Wednesday, and I ‘m posting WIP on Friday. That’s just how it goes sometimes.
I finished the church, and the bases for all of the roofs this week. I’m thinking of adding one more outbuilding to the stable side, it’s just too right angle for me. After that I will start building a base for the whole thing, take each building off, detail dormers and supports, add chimneys, roof tiles, and paint.
A lot is done, but it’s a long ways to go still.

Building a church, with a bell tower, will finally close off Ober Holdenburg.

The weekends work.
Was hit with a bit of inspiration to work on Ober Holdenburg. Mostly the inspiration is that my model airplane cabinet is full, so I’m sort of holding until I can buy a new one later this year.

Workbench Wednesday.
Got some detailing done on Ober Holdenburg. Made a little guard shack by the gate, and broke up the straight lines on the side with the church by adding some buttresses and a kittle out building. Happy with how it’s falling together.

Been picking away on this for about a year and a half. I just don’t see a way to keep it a reasonable size, so eff it, let’s go for it.
