He was friends with both Haruhi and Arai back in middle school. He misses her after she's so busy at her new high school.

He goes with Arai to help out over summer break in Karuizawa, so he also gets to see Haruhi again.

Unlike Arai, he's gonna insist that he never crushed on her. And that is how the club meets someone surprisingly out at proud about his identity.

But hanging out around the inn gets him to talk and get to know Kaoru a lot and since the twins aren't constantly together during that entire trip, it means Fish is meeting Kaoru just as Kaoru and finds him super sweet.

Safe to say Fish heads home at the end of break with a new number in his phone for a new penpal that could go somewhere if he has anything to say about it.

FIGHT: fish vs pidge

Love Fish I do, and goes to a military-style school he does...he is not a fighter. If he was fighting Pidge around like the pilot episode, then yes I think he’d have a chance. His only problems would be their general rage and scrappiness plus his mediator personality. 

But Pidge has spent a good, long while kicking butt in space while Fish has merely done the requirements of his garrison training and happily walked back to his computer assignments. One quick strike of the taser on their bayard to his side and he’s out for the count. Fish has fast reflexes, he’s a runner with too much peppy energy, but he’s almost 6 ft. He’s a target and Pidge is taking full advantage of that.
