gonna be redrawing a really old pic for lee, but eagr needed an update first
his lore still needs reworking but as of now he's like. a "false" harpy (cockatiel+monk parakeet mashup) he cant fly, his wings dont retract, and his talons start at his ankle (in this case a "true" harpy is more akin to a bird shapeshifter. eagr has no natural ability to change his form)

Micah Plath from Welcome to Plathville is leveraging his reality fame to build his modeling career, and he’s been sharing some of his most impressive poses on Instagram. The 20-year-old has used his platform to advertise the show and to represent his modeling agency. His pictures keep his 295k followers thoroughly entertained. Fans have been going wild over his photos. They are showing love for all of Micah’s latest IG pictures, and it’s time to share some of those photographs.
Micah rose to fame as one of nine siblings on Welcome to Plathville, and fans quickly grew to adore his quirky and goofy personality. He is the second oldest son, and fans have watched him evolve from a completely naïve kid to a professional model over the course of the show. His first modeling gig was featured on the series. Cameras followed the inspiring Welcome to Plathville star as he posed with a girl and looked visibly uncomfortable. Since he left the Plath family home, Micah is more confident as a model. He even posed in bed while wearing very little, alongside a female model. The photoshoot was provocative.
Welcome to Plathville fans definitely praised Micah’s latest Instagram post (as seen above). In fact, over two hundred people commented with fire and heart emojis. Micah made sure to use the caption of the post to highlight his Miami-based modeling agency and the photographer for the shoot. Plenty of fans showed their admiration for his relaxed pose, smoldering stare, and fashion-forward outfit, which featured a patterned shirt. Fans also commented that they liked his hair more natural since he usually wears it slicked back on Welcome to Plathville.

It’s true that a multitude of fans enjoys Micah’s Instagram posts, and this picture of Micah from Welcome to Plathville is another reason why. Micah is into fitness, loves going to the gym, and frequently posts shirtless photos to show off his fitness gains. However, in pictures like the one shown above, he shows that he does not need to be shirtless to be a great model. He puts his versatility on display. Micah shared photos from the shoot, and WTP viewers were wondering why Micah has not started walking the runways for designers during Fashion Week.
One of Micah’s most popular pictures featured him in an Old Navy turtleneck, wowing fans with a close-up shot of his face. Fans loved seeing a different type of photo from him, as he is usually not so covered up in cozy clothes. Many fans added that they loved Micah from Welcome to Plathville season 3‘s hairstyle. Several followers called it his best picture yet.
Coming in at the number one modeling photo from Micah’s Instagram is this sophisticated picture that had fans falling in love. The picture makes Micah look very mature and is also one of his rare Instagram pictures where he is actually smiling. The smile paired with the trendy outfit left fans wanting more and most are hoping Micah will continue modeling throughout his time on Welcome to Plathville.

Bus, Sheep Dog, and Lunch
New Post has been published on http://stevefey.com/LivefromLV/2018/05/09/bus-sheep-dog-and-lunch/
Bus, Sheep Dog, and Lunch
This is a Plate of Irish Stew. Of Course, Bought as it was in an Irish Village, it could be Gumbo and still Qualify
This is the day we saw Avengers: Infinity War, but before that, we did this. The evening before we stopped in a storefront close by the Savoy Theatre and bought tickets from Wild Rover Tours for a bus to take us to Kilkenny, Wicklow, and Glendalough. We were to meet the bus at 08:00 in front of a hotel not far from our own, and also close by the Savoy, for what that’s worth. It was threatening rain. Our tour guide, one Peter, explained that it rains 270 days a year in Ireland, so that was no big deal. It’s cloudy 65 days a year in Las Vegas, so I get what he’s saying. It had been sunny for our entire visit to Ireland up to now, but reality was setting in. Fair enough. The bus took off promptly at 08:20. On the way out of Dublin, Tami was able to photograph a few curiosities. (Curiosities for an American, at any rate.)
Who this is, I know not. But it is somewhere in Dublin. Photo by Tami Cowden
Dinosaurs. In Dublin. What is the world coming to? Photo by Tami Cowden
The rain was relentless all that morning as we made our way along a motorway (think freeway) to Kilkenny. (Or Cill Chainnigh in Gaelic) The photo at the top of yesterday’s post was taken as we pulled into Kilkenny. We had a set amount of time there, about 2.5 hours as I recall, which Tami and I used to tour Kilkenny Castle, and to shop for souvenirs. The castle looks eminently un-defensible, but that is due to the nineteenth century wings added on to it.
This is Kilkenny Castle, in Kilkenny (duh) Ireland
Inside the castle is mostly décor and other remains of nineteenth century English occupation. Of course, it was always English, but originally much older. The tour includes a section of the oldest portion where you can see what remains of the very first construction, done many centuries ago.
Some photographs in (and through the windows of) Kilkenny Castle:
A Fireplace Screen in the Library. Used by an Individual to Block the Fiercest Heat
The Front Lawn, Complete With Optional Tour Group Gathering for the Tour
                    But Wait! There’s More!
Sure, seeing an old castle is fun and all, and walking through rain is more enjoyable to a Las Vegas desert rat than you might imagine. But, the tour went on. Back in the bus and off to Wicklow Gap. Ireland is called the “Emerald Isle.” Here are some pictures to show you why.
Green? We Have Green!
Okay, the Cows are Brown and Tan (and Black and White, not shown)
Here Are Some Black and White Cows. But Look at the Field and Forest, Will You?
I took those three pix on the way to Kilkenny. Not exactly random, but not specially chosen, either. I tell you, the place is green as green can be!
But, on to Wicklow Gap. If you saw Braveheart, you saw Wicklow Gap. Scotland? I think not! It is pretty up there. And, when we were there, cold and rainy, too!
Wicklow Gap. FREEDOM!!!
All three of these photos are of Wicklow Gap. The middle one, looking far over the mountains, is my favorite. The top pic is of some interesting rocks, and the bottom is of a tarn. (You can look that up if you’re not familiar with the term.)
So, Mel Gibson was here and his cast of thousands. The road is full of switchbacks, and my seat in the back of the bus was the subject of much reconsideration until we got down to the village of Wicklow. Wicklow has an abandoned monastery, a round tower, two lakes, a waterfall, and a restaurant/gift shop. Also, people live there.
It is where I photographed my lunch, as seen above. We took so long at lunch that we made it only to within sight of the first lake, never mind the waterfall or second lake. We didn’t even have time to visit the ruins of the monastery, but Tami did take some pictures of it.
The Round Tower of the Monastery at Wicklow
No idea what that tower was used for by the monks. Keeping watch for marauding Norsemen, maybe. We were disappointed that lunch took so long, but the next leg of the trip was the best part, amazingly enough.
So good, in fact, that I’m saving a separate post for the sheep dog trials we got to witness. Great dogs, and Tami got to hold a little lamb!

RUADH - Of Scottish iron
[ Logo: Moonroot ] [ Pic: Kim Copland ] [ Artwork: Joan Llopis Doménech Illustrations ]
RUADH (which is pronounced 'Roo-Ah' and translates to 'red') is an Atmospheric Black Metal solo-project from Glasgow, Scotland. Drawing from the vast well of history, culture and mythology, musician and songwriter Tom Perrett set out to compose music purely to taste, creating an unmistakable atmosphere with the beating heart of old school Black Metal favourites of his, such as Windir, Bathory, Burzum and others, which should also appeal to fans of Saor, Winterfylleth, Panopticon and similar acts. Tom was born and raised in one of the oldest Burghs in Scotland, which translates to 'The red glen'. The derivation of the name of the town is unclear but one theory is that the area was once a settlement of Reuther, an ancient king of the Scots, who ruled between 213 and 187 BC. "The Rock Of The Clyde" is an evolution from RUADH's debut album "Sovereign". It has a much more melodic feel, yet has more visceral elements too. Containing six tracks of epic, Scottish Atmospheric Black Metal with Folk elements, it is massive in both scope and scale, taking you through the Iron Ages in Scotland. TRACKS: 01. Embers 10:01 02. The Rock Of The Clyde 10:20 03. Winters Light 09:01 04. Fields Of Heather 10:56 05. Only Distant Echoes Reign (Part 1) 04:44 06. Only Distant Echoes Reign (Part 2) 08:54 total: 53:55 min. "The Rock Of The Clyde" also explores the history and mythology of the people of Scotland, conveying both sorrow and uplifting, almost heroic tones. LINE-UP: Tom Perrett • All Instruments, Vocals Cieti • Female Vocals Kimberly Copland • Bass Philip Morrison • Drums DISCOGRAPHY: 2019 • Sovereign (Full-length) 2020 • The Rock Of The Clyde (Full-length) RUADH is available for interviews via phone, Skype & e-mail E-MAIL: [email protected] Official PR Action: https://www.metalmessage.de/Promotion_RUADH_en.php

Despite shooting down dating rumors, Jamie Foxx and aspiring entertainer Sela Vave are still hanging out together, sparking dating rumors. The two were seen hanging out at the Malibu Chili Cook-Off on Saturday after holding hands on the LA scene a few weeks ago. If you haven't heard, Jamie and his former girlfriend Katie Holmes called it quits after dating for six years. They tried to keep their relationship on the low. It seems like as soon as they started being more open about their coupledom, they broke up.
21-year-old Sela Vave was spotted walking through the event with the 51-year-old actor/singer/comedian. The "Shazam" host also brought his daughter Annalise Bishop and a few of her friends along for the fun:

Spending so much time with a young, pretty, aspiring star sparked dating rumors, but Jamie says that's farthest from the truth. During an interview with radio host Big Boy, the 51-year-old actor denied dating the 21-year-old, despite how much time they have been spending together lately.

"People are saying I'm dating the girl. Let me just say this, that's absolutely not true!" he said. "That girl hangs out with my kids. My young daughter loves her, my oldest daughter loves her... I talk to her mom, her parents... I know the nature of the business that we're in, so I don't trip on headlines, you know what I'm saying? I don't trip on that."
He continued,
"When it comes to that part and the girl and her and what I'm trying to do for her as an artist, I feel like I have to be an elder," he said. "Her 'uncle,' as she calls me and step in and say, 'Hey guys, don't let it be the double standard.' When all these other guys are on the couch, they are hustling and they had dreams. When she's working in this capacity, all of a sudden she's some sort of... I'll say the nice word... using someone to get to the top. And I don't get down like that."
"I got a 25-year-old daughter and I don't date in my daughter's range... ever!" he said.
Welp. There you have it.

Top 10 Party Cities in the World
First of all I need to start via announcing that these are my private alternatives. I did no longer do any research on the top cities to party in or something like that.
These are locations I've frolicked at and love. I count on its better like that anyway, all approximately the memories and sharing them with you. There's gonna be a few off the wall spots on here you probable by no means should count on. I used to party a TON even though so believe me in this. And granted there are plenty of others towns I've been to that might have made it in this listing. But I picked the pinnacle ten that popped into my head initially.
So these are my pinnacle 10 alternatives for the incredible cities to birthday party at.
10. Lima Peru - This warm South American is bustling with lifestyles. I first hit Peru decrease again in 07 I assume it was, I gotta say for the men Peruvian woman are fabulous, and for the women Peruvian dudes are proper searching cats, South Americans in famous are warm blooded and prefer their events. We would possibly in no way even head out till well after middle of the night after which wed birthday party all night and hit the DiscoTechues at like eight inside the morning.
I notably advise this for absolutely anyone looking for to have some fun distant places with a few great human beings. Head over to Mira Flores the fundamental visitor hub in Lima and check out Aura and Gotica Nightclubs. These  of the bigger and greater ultra-modern nightclubs inside the region.
09. Mobile Alabama - Most human beings do no longer recognise this, however this is the house of the true Mardi Gras, it began back in 1703 and is the oldest Carnival Celebration within the United States. There are lots of tanned our bodies on the Gulf coast constantly trying to have an outstanding time. Downtown Mobile has a ton of individual, and you get lots of younger par-ranges coming Pensacola Florida (Another Hot Spot).
And more from Gulf Shores Mississippi, this entire place is one huge birthday celebration simply. Head on right down to Mobile all through the primary week of October for BayFest Music Festival. Its biggest music pageant in Alabama, upwards of a hundred twenty 5 bands over a 3 day period. Good instances perfect meals, and correct people.
08. Santa Barbara California - This location has it all, a lovely downtown, and State Street is off the chain. Buy Designer garments by using manner of day and celebration through night time. I've spent an entire lot of time partying proper here, and granted its been a while. Things have now not modified.
If you are looking for extra of a house party and university party type scene head to I.V. Or Isla Vista for the more youthful crowd and streets full of par-tiers until the wee hours of the morning.
07. Hollywood California - Alright I couldn't depart this off, land of the beautiful human beings. Rock Stars, Celebrities, and famous people of every type. Hollywood is well-known for a cause. There are limitless golf equipment and bars, some thing you're looking for.
Head over to the Whiskey for some stay song, or take a look at out some burlesque dance on the Pussycat Doll Lounge. Or you prefer to get right away to clubbing test out Johnny Deps Viper Room. Whatever you're looking for Hollywood has all of it
06. Juneau Alaska - Believe it this location is out of control, I needed to throw this on right here to inspire human beings to visit Alaska. The capital town has an improbable celebration scene. Especially within the summer season, all through the height of summer time its not uncommon to have an additional 30,000 humans in town from the cruise ships.
And Alaskans in sizable like to celebration, the splendor of Juneau is that everything is with out a trouble positioned in approximately three or 4 square blocks. I understand this down sound like a whole lot, however there are extra than enough institutions on this area. And at the same time as done partying for the night time, head over to Pel Minis for some Russian dumplings.
05. San Francisco California - This is probably my favored city in the global. Broadway is out of control and Chinatown is simply loopy. Remember Big Trouble in Little China with antique Jack Burton? Well its not pretty much like it turned into, but its although wild. And SF is only a fun city to visit, the lifestyle, the track, and meals, the entirety about it.
And yes the golf equipment and nightlife. Being from California and haven't spent an fantastic quantity of time everywhere in the kingdom, my hat flow offs to SF for being so particular. Don't get me incorrect So Cal is exceptional too, but there is some thing approximately the complete Bay environment that hits domestic.
Maybe its because I have become born proper next to SF, however I cant think about absolutely everyone who may want to ever disagree approximately SF. Make sure while you're there you see Broadway at night time, and if you're a chunk seedier motion there may be usually the Tenderloin But I don't endorse that place for the faint of coronary coronary heart or sincerely all and sundry.
04. Portland Oregon - Gotta love this town, land of the unfastened spirits and flower kids. Portland is certainly a younger new wave metropolis. Very modern-day, and notably liberal, its have been given a high-quality nightlife and amazing food. On a facet have a look at, Portland is takes the reins for the most specific Dance Clubs internal a city limits inside the entire United States. Yes loads and plenty of Strippers, its a a laugh town despite the fact that than that.
You a Fan of Whiskey? Check out the Multnomah Whiskey Library. And after a big night time of partying have a few steak and eggs at the identical time as looking the adorable woman of the Acropolis Club in Southeast Portland. Well they'll be cute at 9 inside the morning after a night time of consuming.
03. Gothenburg Sweden - This is in which I clearly name domestic right now. And permit me let you know that in case you're in search of to birthday celebration with the severely stunning human beings, then Sweden is for you. Swedish humans are just lovable in trendy. And they realize a manner to have a laugh; they may be a bit extra reserved within the beginning. But after they open up, its exercise over.
Gothenburg is 2nd to Stockholm in period, and even as I have not been to Stockholm but to evaluate. Gothenburg will always maintain a place in my coronary heart. If you're seeking out a few true stay rock there may be generally Stick Fingers. And in case you're covered in tats like me, theres the rock bar this is right up your alley. On the opposite hand if you're looking for a greater membership scene kind component move except, you wont be upset.
02. Austin Texas - I modified into very amazed by means of the downtown area of Austin. Wow, this area had a exceptional nightlife, and hundreds and plenty of clubs and bars. Fridays and Saturdays they shut down all of Sixth Street and the location is complete of par-stages for blocks and blocks.
If you are trying to some girls dancing on the bars, take a look at out the world famous Coyote Ugly. This place is extraordinary amusing, proper drinks, and wild as ever. I certainly had been given hand cuffed there and took frame pics off of a bartender, it became quite humorous.
01. London England - OK, this is the peak of it desirous approximately quite an entire lot the entirety. London is like San Francisco jacked up on juice. No comedian tale, there are too many locations to name right here, however you gotta ensure and go to Piccadilly Circus. Whatever you're searching out London has it, I've never visible a greater culturally diverse town. There are humans from everywhere in this town, and at a few degree in the day there is lots to see.
I propose earlier than you go out partying test out the open market on the Camden Lock. This marketplace had the entirety and remarkable road food. I may additionally need to imagine what the open markets must have been like 2000 years in the past. It turned into kind of just like the troll marketplace from Hellboy 2, minus the trolls.
So These are the pinnacle 10 cities for partying in the international for my part.
I'm sure anyone has their very very own. And I cant say whatever about Asia or Australia as I even have not been there yet. Bali is subsequent on my listing; Ive grown into some exceptional interest nowadays. But I though love a superb birthday celebration.
OK so I cant omit my non-public preferred celebration town. Chico California, its my hometown. It may not be the most important within the world, but it packs a punch. And can cope with the top notch of them. Halloween and St. Patricks day are via some distance the wildest in Chico. Or if you're seeking to flat the river with about 15,000 college students, do not omit Labor and Memorial Day.

It is a bit of an understatement to say TET members and fans alike were disappointed and frustrated with the on-field results last Saturday. Some posters and commenters were more vocal – or “keyboardal” (it is a real word now; I just invented it, I think) – than others, but no one was pleased with the manner in which Auburn played that game. Yes, we could wax poetic about the officiating but good teams find a way to overcome that barrier. Auburn did not.
The pic noted does not do justice to our normal game day but it is what I had available so please forgive that part.
This week brings another SEC opponent into Jordan Hare Stadium. Auburn Head Coach Gus Malzahn and Arkansas Head Coach Chad Morris will be facing each other for the first time as collegiate head coaches. I have to hope beyond hope that Auburn, being the overwhelming Vegas favorite, has a much better time of things this week over last. Let’s get the “Gus Bus” back on track and that starts with tailgating! A little more after the break if you’re interested…
Instead of continuing to harp over things that are now in the past, I thought I would provide a wee bit of insight into what, exactly, we do on an Auburn Football Saturday on the Plains. I am sure there are way more elaborate tailgates around campus on any given Saturday but this is what we do and is what makes us happy. We are not in any type of competition and don’t care to be. The Tigers and Razorbacks will be playing under the lights so, for us, it will be a really long, glorious day of tailgating where we have the time to set up and fully enjoy our complete tailgating ensemble.
I’m fortunate that my job allows me to work from home daily with only an extremely rare trip into the office being necessary. My immediate boss is based in Arklow, Ireland but he already knows that not a lot of work is accomplished by me on a Friday prior to an Auburn home game. On those Fridays it’s time to pack that Durango and get ready to head to the Plains!
Our tailgate, while lacking anything remotely close to resembling a “formal” name, is basically owned by myself and a friend of mine from Pike Road outside Montgomery along with a doctor from Birmingham. All of us have tailgated for over 30 years but this year will mark only the 6thyear we have had our combined tailgate. We have other couples and families that join us on a regular basis and they bring whatever else is needed.
Being a late game means our better half’s “allow” us to put up 6 tents instead of the normal 4 because, you know, why not? If 4 tents is good then 6 has to be better, right?
We arrive in our parking lot at 8:00 AM or a little before and start unloading our respective vehicles. Like a well-oiled machine the contents of our vehicles are unloaded and placed into a staging area prior to actually putting up a tent or anything else.
In our vehicle, we will have 2 tents, 4 tables, 6 chairs, flat-screen TV, satellite dish and receiver, generator, extra gasoline for generator, cooler with copious amounts of ice, and more extension cords and power strips than will ever be needed, and Auburn-themed Welcome mats.
Our true tailgate guru, Mike, will bring 4 tents, 6 tables, 8 chairs, all of the necessary sides for the tents, 2 coolers with copious amounts of ice, fans, overhead lights and I don’t even know what else. The overhead lights are present as it is a night game and we always have friends, new and old, without a ticket, who want to stay with the setup and watch it on TV.
Ben, our doc, will also bring a generator and extra gas in addition to tables, extension cords, a cooler with copious amounts of ice and will have a full complement of accessories should the need arise.
Our Brides, by far, take care of most the food setup. I will, generally, have something that I smoked on Thursday night into Friday morning but that is usually my only contribution into the food arena for tailgating. But the girls work in harmony and communicate during the week so nothing is missed. If we need one of the other couples/families to bring additional gear or food then our Brides have it handled. As an example, for the Alabama State game which was another late afternoon/evening game where we pitched 6 tents, we had four Crock Pots with chicken wings, pork butt, beef sloppy joes, and baked beans. Too many sides and desserts to mention.
When all is completed, we can be sitting and watching TV before 9:30. Now, I don’t know how many times we have visited Haley Center, J&M, Tiger Rags, Toomer’s, and the campus overall but, it’s a football Saturday, and why not? There is, after all, that one particular shirt or ball cap I meant to buy last week that just cannot wait any longer!
Since we usually stay overnight in Auburn, breaking down the setup after the game works fine for us as it allows traffic to be at a tolerable level. It only takes about 1/3 to 1/2 the time to break everything down. And, that’s pretty much it. Except, of course, heading back to Atlanta early on Sunday morning.
So, Parking Lot X – corner of War Eagle Way and Village Lane – please feel free to come visit and stay awhile. You will see our American, Auburn, and Tigers Unlimited flags.
Remember to wear BLUE for this game… Everyone here is more than welcome to visit and the only admission requirement is a healthy…
WAR EAGLE!
(And I’m sorry, if you do not stand for OUR National Anthem well, then…)
War Damn Eagle and you get what’s coming to ya…

8 Years Later - My son's post about 'God is not Great' and my fake book cover via /r/atheism
Submitted December 15, 2017 at 09:35PM by logansrun2000 (Via reddit http://ift.tt/2zfrRFm) 8 Years Later - My son's post about 'God is not Great' and my fake book cover
With this being an anniversary of sorts for the late Christopher Hitchens, I thought I'd share a little story that involves Christopher Hitchens, my son, reddit, and the start of my journey out of faith.
The year was 2009. I discovered that my oldest son had bought and read Hitchens' book entitled God is Not Great. As a Christian, I was offended. "What!? How dare this man write a book with such a title!" I also certainly didn't like the notion that "religion poisons everything".
After discovering the book in my son's room, I lightly skimmed it but I was literally too scared to seriously read it. I feared for my soul and the potential influence of the book.
So what did I do?
Using a poor attempt at humor, I printed up a fake book cover entitled "Atheism, And the Morons who believe it" with a fictional author name of "I.B. Wright". I put the fake cover over a Scott Adams' book (probably a Dilbert book).*
I wrote something stupid on the back page cover too, a feeble attempt to support my revised book title. I left my creative work in my son's room for him to admire.
So what happened?
My son took a picture of my handiwork and posted it to this subreddit (link to pic in the comments). His post got over 1000 points. I didn't know about his reddit posting for quite a while, but after discovering it and reading through the comments, I was skewered. Severely. And rightly so.
The text I put on my back cover said: "In Mr. Wright's latest book, I.B. shows that God is truly good and that through His son, Jesus, the world was rocked by a mere three years of ministry that culminated in Christ rising from the dead, which skeptics have been unable to disprove or rationally dispute."
I look back on all of this with embarrassment. Unfortunately, indoctrination shuts off critical thinking, and I was very indoctrinated during my early years. I'm just grateful now that my son didn't hide his change in beliefs and that eventually, I broke the spell. And as Christopher Hitchens said so well, religion poisons everything.
Tonight I will raise a glass to the late Hitchens.

After lengthy hockey odyssey, Evan Stoflet is returned with Utah Grizzlies for 3rd time
After lengthy hockey odyssey, Evan Stoflet is returned with Utah Grizzlies for 3rd time SALT LAKE city — they are saying you can’t move domestic again, as a minimum that’s what Thomas Wolfe’s iconic novel from the Forties claimed. That old adage doesn’t follow to Utah Grizzlies’ hockey player Evan Stoflet, who has come domestic no longer once, no longer twice, but three times because residing in Utah as a younger youngster.
The 32-yr Stoflet is on his third excursion of responsibility with the Grizzlies and playing gambling in the front of pals and own family — again — after gambling on contrary facets of the sector for a few years as well as towns in every area of the united states, from Montana to Iowa to California to ny to Texas. maximum currently, he played for 2 years in China, an experience he referred to as “nuts,” however one which he says he’ll usually cherish.
Stoflet is a defenseman for the Grizzlies, who stand 25-22-five and are creating a sturdy playoff push with 19 games left. because the oldest player on the crew, Stoflet is counted on for his leadership and has no hassle while teammates name him “old guy” or “grandpa.”
“Oh yeah, it’s coming complete circle,” he says of the razzing he receives from his more youthful teammates. “I did the equal aspect whilst i used to be first beginning playing. It’s a cycle of existence, I bet.” Utah coach Tim Branham can’t reward Stoflet sufficient, saying, “He brings suitable leadership to this institution and facilitates the more youthful guys. He facilitates them feel cozy, whether it’s structures or a way to be a professional, due to the fact he’s a true expert. He involves the rink the same each single day with the equal mindset, the equal preparation.”
an enticing younger man with an easy smile, Stoflet is honestly grateful for the possibility he has to nonetheless be gambling expert hockey and especially to be gambling in what he considers his native land.
“It’s such a completely unique enjoy with a purpose to play in an area in which I lived for see you later,” he stated. “It’s been segmented, however I’ve lived right here for so long. obviously being close to my mother and father after being away for goodbye is nice. i have legitimate friends here within the network that I didn’t get to peer for years. It’s high-quality … actual first-rate.”
Born in Wisconsin, Stoflet moved along with his family to Illinois as a youngster, however got here out to Utah in 1996 due to his father’s employment. Evan became just going into 7th grade, and he lived in West Jordan for a couple of years. a great athlete who played soccer, baseball and football, he determined hockey became the game he desired to pursue, so on the age of 14, he moved returned to live along with his grandparents in Wisconsin, in which hockey is a miles larger deal than Utah.
with the aid of his junior yr of high school, Stoflet turned into off gambling Junior Hockey, in which he had a condensed faculty schedule for 3 hours an afternoon, at the same time as working towards hockey several hours every day. He traveled round gambling in opposition, moving first to Bozeman Montana, followed by way of Des Moines, Iowa. Then it become off to university on the college of Vermont, in which he played for 4 years.
while his collegiate career ended, he turned expert, and his first stop become Texas, in which he performed for the Corpus Christi Rayz, in the primary Hockey League. the subsequent yr he made his first professional prevent in Utah as a member of the Grizzlies. “It changed into one of those matters wherein I wanted to play in this league, so a mutual buddy positioned me in touch with the teach here and it went from there,” he said. “You don’t frequently see that, where there’s a crew wherein you live. It labored out nicely.”
Jason Christie was the coach who signed him, but he left the team inside a month and Kevin Collie took over because the coach for the 2008-09 season. Stoflet had an amazing 12 months with more than one desires and 11 assists from his protection position in addition to a plus-21 for his time at the ice.
“It changed into bizarre due to the fact I hadn’t lived this close to my own family in six years or so,” he said. “however it turned into great because I had buddies here and i used to be pretty relaxed instead of coming to a team new. My mother and father have been really pumped because they got to look me extra when i used to be 24 than whilst i used to be 16.”
but, thirteen games into the next season, Stoflet changed into unexpectedly traded to the Bakersfield Condors inside the ECHL. After seasons with Bakersfield, Stoflet determined he desired to try playing in Europe and determined a professional group in Copenhagen.
“Copenhagen is one of these cities that everyone says you ought to visit and it’s miles an extremely good town,” he stated. “It became lots of amusing and i saw loads of cool stuff. i can’t say sufficient approximately how top notch Copenhagen was.”
The most effective problem became the team control wasn’t so terrific, and his paychecks were always past due. Then in the future, he and multiple different americans were told they couldn’t have enough money to be paid anymore, and after simply three months there, Stoflet headed back to the States with a promise that he would receives a commission. The team folded a yr later, but Stoflet by no means noticed his final paycheck. He completed off the 2012 season in the big apple with the Elmira Jackals, another ECHL team, in the jap conference.
Collie turned into nonetheless the educate of the Grizzlies and he contacted Stoflet’s agent after the season and asked if he might be inquisitive about returning to Salt Lake town. Stoflet stated “positive” and so he turned into lower back in Utah, for the 2012-thirteen season, in which he scored three dreams with eleven assists. After that season, Stoflet determined he wanted to give Denmark any other try, so he performed for a group on the other facet of the u . s ., in a smaller town on the west coast referred to as Esjberg had a much better experience.
“I had an amazing train and i was able to play with a few men I went to college with,” he stated. “It turned into a a laugh enjoy — and we got paid.”
through that time, he’d had enough of Europe and he located an uncommon opportunity to play in China, where hockey continues to be in its little one degrees.
“That was nuts,” he says of his experience in China. “I’d by no means had the lifestyle shock as once I landed in Beijing. countries have unique manner of doing matters and China became so much one-of-a-kind that whatever that I’d skilled before.”
Stoflet’s group performed in Qiqihar, way up north far from the huge metropolitan areas of China like Beijing and Shanghai. His membership changed into the handiest chinese group in the Asian Ice Hockey League, which covered four groups from Japan, three from South Korea and one from japanese Russia. He stated there was a translator at the staff, but he “manifestly couldn’t comply with you around everywhere.”
Stoflet’s teach became eastern, so he’d ought to explain crew drills in his language and the translator might need to supply the instructions to both the chinese and English-talking gamers.
“by the time it were given to us, it didn’t continually translate quite proper and was pretty comical,” he said, “So if we were getting chewed out, we had been getting yelled out in jap, chinese language and eventually English.”
Stoflet said he and his North American teammates might get loads of atypical appears from the chinese natives, who’d never seen many non-Asian oldsters in that part of the us of a.
“It became quite humorous how anyone could stare at you from 20 feet beforehand and also you’d walk past them and turn round they’d nevertheless be watching you,” he said. “Random people might need to take pics with you.”
As for the competition, Stoflet called it “quite suitable,” although “not as bodily as over here.” He said China is attempting to make a conscious attempt to reinforce hockey because the u . s . a . is getting the iciness Olympics (in 2022).
“So it changed into lot of journey — you sort of toss your self accessible and see what you return with — how lengthy it takes you to get there and lower back and what type of food you’re going to come to be consuming.”
but Stoflet preferred the stories although it became an awful lot extra challenging than Denmark where most everybody speaks English.
“It become clearly cool and i really liked that fish-out-of-water type feeling,” he stated. “I truely preferred to rub elbows with the locals – it’s the nice way to get a brand new attitude on matters.”
After two years residing in a distinctive culture, consuming atypical food and now not having many people to talk to, Stoflet headed again to the united states and was satisfied to land lower back in Utah.
It doesn’t problem Stoflet within the least that he’s the old man on the Grizzlies and one of the oldest gamers inside the league. He knows that hockey gamers play longer than athletes in most different sports activities, and he’s no longer planning to cling up the skates any time quickly. “It’s all around the map,” he says. “ years in the past I played with a goalie who changed into turning 38. It’s simply but long your body can preserve up and but a good deal you revel in it and nevertheless want to play.”
Branham doesn’t rely out Stoflet sticking round for awhile. “You never realize. He maintains himself in correct form, that’s for certain, he’s in actual good form, specially for his age,” Branham said. “whilst you’re in appropriate shape you may play a long time — observe Jaromir Jagr (nonetheless gambling in NHL at age forty five). Evan works hard to hold his body in true form.”
Stoflet jokes “I don’t have any concept what I need to do once I grow up,” but he hopes to stick around Utah for extra than a year this time.
“That’s the funny aspect about this game and particularly at this degree,” he stated. “you can by no means look too a long way beforehand in the destiny. You never know what is going to pop up what’s going to show up. This is a superb place for me now.”
