The 26th of July Movement❤️🇨🇺✊🏽 • A little of Cuban history on my fingertips. I learned a great deal of that beautiful nation’s history at the Museo de la Revolución in Havana. These are some items of propaganda, clothes, monograms, home-made tanks, etc, used during the beginning of the Cuban revolution. • The 26th of July Movement (Spanish: Movimiento 26 de Julio; M-26-7) was a Cuban vanguard revolutionary organization and later a political party led by Fidel Castro that in 1959 overthrew the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship in Cuba. The Movement fought the Batista regime on both rural and urban fronts. Inside El Capitolio, or National Capitol Building in Havana, Cuba. It was the organization of government in Cuba until after the Cuban Revolution in 1959, and is now home to the Cuban Academy of Sciences. • "El Capitolio" has a size of 681 by 300 ft. Its design is compared to that of the United States Capitol, but is not a replica of it. • Completed in 1929, it was the tallest building in Havana until the 1950s and houses the world's third largest indoor statue, The Statue of the Republic. • It opened its doors to the public on March 1st, 2018 after an extensive renovation. It’s really beautiful inside with the meeting room renovated; the original golden elevator; the entire china collection; a rare look at the inner court with the least-seen statue in Cuba, the statue of Lucifer given to Orestes Ferrara, who at that moment presided the House of Representatives, by artist Salvatore Buemi; the first original molds of the façade of the building and the statues; and finally the stunning walls and ceilings with their decorative and geometric designs.
