Pseudo books, bad books, and popular books. I think that one must often tolerate these in a world rife with copies of copies of manuscripts. I am left speechless by the solidity and sheer veracity of a system.

CHAPTER 11- The Three Byakuya Togamis

It’s a simple story. One young man decided to try to take over the world. After many repeated extraordinary adventures, the young man got what he wanted and was able to return home safe and sound. And he lived happily ever after.

But here is the problem: which of the following young men is the protagonist of this story?

“I believe I’ve given everyone a slice of cake, no? Back during the Yalta Conference [1] when the world was being split up, the president’s daughters prepared food to calm the atmosphere. Since we’re in a helicopter, a banquet is out of the question, but at the very least I can offer some cake…”

“Who cares about the cake? Let’s continue our conversation. After all, at the moment I am allowing you the right to lead.”

“Heh heh. What admirable conduct from you, Byakuya Togami. Well then, let’s get started, shall we? Nee-san, you eat up too. Please sample this sweet, saccharine cake–it’s American, filled with sugar and butter.”

A dreamy expression crossed the boy’s–Kazuya Togami’s–face.

And so began our discussion of world domination–over a tea set, under the watchful eye of countless gun muzzles, within a WHO helicopter.

In the four years since I’d seen my younger brother, he had grown so much that I barely recognized him. His thin frame had filled out with an appropriate amount of muscle, a sarcastic smile stretched across his lips, his eyes which had once been filled with constant fear now sparkled with self-confidence, and he now wore glasses that resembled Byakuya-sama’s. This young man who had only once referred to himself as Byakuya Togami was now brazenly exerting control over us, UN military forces in tow. He was certainly throwing his weight around.

Since I wasn’t restrained, I put a finger to my temple and accessed Borges, intending to get some information.

We are acting in accordance with Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter [2] set out by the United Nations Security Council. Considering the weight of your crimes, they will require action on par with the International Criminal Tribunal of Former Yugoslavia.” [3]

“Hmph.” Despite being handcuffed, Byakuya-sama’s usual demeanor was unruffled. “If you are planning to treat me the same way as Pol Pot, I will not forgive that.” [4]

“But you are the one spreading the seeds of massacre around the world, aren’t you?”

“And do you intend to take me to the International Court of Justice as is?” [5]

“Yes. We will cross the border from the Czech Republic into the Netherlands, and you will stand trial. Your crimes are heavy, Byakuya Togami, for trying to pick a fight with the world. Don’t forget that I could allow you to be lynched at this very moment to nary a complaint.”

“You certainly seem like you want to beat me.”

“I’m rational. I don’t intend to contribute to the violence you’ve brought upon the Czech Republic by drawing so many maniacs crazed with bloodlust.”

“What are you talking about, you ‘won’t contribute to violence?’ With all of these guns here?”

“Think of the number of guns as an estimation of how dangerous you are.”

“If that’s the case, then there’s far too few.”

To my delight, the UN forces’ gun muzzles bobbed in surprise at Byakuya-sama’s uncharacteristic smile. Similarly pleased, Kazuya cheerfully responded with: “Don’t move, okay? Byakuya Togami.”

“Obviously. If I couldn’t keep still at a time like this, I would not be fit to be a Togami.”

“Well then, until we get you to the International Court of Justice so you can be stuffed into a cell, why don’t you enjoy this tea time with me?”

“If you do not remove these shackles, I won’t be able to teach you table manners.”

“Would you prefer to eat like a dog? I know you are revered as the SHSL Heir, Byakuya Togami, so it would certainly make for a good story, showing you eating like a mangy hound.” [6]

“To think, such a powerless brat saying things like he’s part of society.”

Byakuya-sama, despite the handcuffs, skillfully pushed up his glasses with his fingers.

“Heh heh. But you see, I am already part of society. I’m the captain of the WHO Infectious Disease Prevention Unit’s task force.” [7] Kazuya, as if to mimic Byakuya-sama, adjusted his glasses as well. “I’m much different from how I was four years ago.”

“Listen here boy, if you want to have a tea party, how about at least some tea talk? Tell me how much the WHO has this current state of affairs under control.” Byakuya asks Kazuya, and he begins.

"The situation has progressed to the following stage: The 'Despair Disease' can now be spread without the 'Despair Novel'. This is why the tragedy in that village occurred just now.”

Byakuya mocks him by saying that the ‘tragedy’ in the village wasn’t brought about by the disease but by them massacring everyone without distinction. Kazuya retorts calling them all trash and all he did was throw the rubbish away, so there is no big deal. Shinobu thinks to herself that it might be her fault Kazuya turned out this way.

Kazuya then declares that Hope’s Peak Academy is also under investigation, since the Despair Novel was written there.

During the investigation, continues Kazuya, they found out that the academy is secretly working on two projects: the “Sage Plan” and the “Bible Plan”. Kazuya says both names have religious connotations, which is ironic considering Hope’s Peak is a school that worships hope as a god.

He still doesn’t have enough information on the “Sage Plan”, [8] but he says that apparently the Despair Novel was written using the system of the “Bible Plan”. The “Bible Plan” consists of an AI which studies all the books and stories in the world to create a Bible which will bring hope to people just by reading it. The data that the AI works on are input by SHSL such as SHSL science fiction writer, SHSL oral inheritor', SHSL light novel writer, SHSL folk story collector etc.

"What do you think Hope’s Peak Academy is most afraid of? Is it human extinction?"

"No, it is human despair."

"That's right, whether it's a giant meteorite or a nuclear war, I hope that the academy will not budge, but if at that time, human beings are in despair, give up their struggles, give up hope... they will be intolerable.”

Byakuya says that he is boring and to go to a bookstore to buy some actually well written books. Kazuya goes on to say that since they couldn’t touch the hearts of all humans, that they instead, let an AI create a story that could. Shinobu is confused and wants to take headache medicine, but Byakuya is simply and utterly bored by the idea. Kazuya says it’s not in an AIs essence to defeat humanity, such as in Go or Chess and that Byakuya’s way of thinking is backward.

"I will say it is 'boring' on the premise of correctly estimating AI capabilities. No matter how good an AI is, one thing is that it can't be done anyway."

"I would appreciate further details."

"That is 'creation', if you don't have the ability to create, you can't write a story."

Kazuya retorts saying that it has no need to as since it has analysed narratives for so long, it has merely become an algorithmic process. He points out that it’s the same as Dr. Victor Frankenstein’s story: they tried to play God and as a result they created a monster. As Kazuya puts it, "People often compare Dr. Victor to God who is the Creator, and the monster is used to compare with Adam, created by God. However, this contrast quickly collapsed. Dr. Victor as a human being imitated God's behavior, the result is a terrible monster, a monster will only kill everywhere. The story writing AI is also a fake God, it and The Bible that was created, are just a strange monster."

After listening to the talk of Kazuya, the expression of Byakuya became very smug, he took a sip of black tea and said, "Let us not stick to these old literary theories."

"Listen, Dr. Victor who created the monster, and God who created human beings, the situation is exactly the same. If you ask why, it is because both sides have encountered unexpected situations. Isn't it? Yes, that is the death of Christ. Is Christ as God's own being killed on the cross, is this also within God's plan? After Kazuya and Byakuya throw witty insults at each other, they both look over at the guy next to Byakuya, stuffing his face with food.

It may be because their hands are cuffed, or just because they are too greedy, but Imposter is buried in the cake, eating like a pig. He seemed to find it hard to notice that he was caught up in the crowd and slowly lifted his face. His face and glasses were covered with cake. Kazuya calls out to Ultimate “Mr. Pig” Imposter.

“Mr. Pig,” says Kazuya. “To be a student at Hope’s Peak Academy, having ties with those who those who took the ‘Bible Plan’ system and started the “World Domination Proclamation”...who are you?”

To all of this the Imposter responds with this:

"Pardon me but, since you aren’t eating those carbs, give them to me."

Shinobu wonders about who the Imposter is, originally thinking he might be with Kazuya, she dismisses the idea. Is it possible that Imposter shares some sort of relationship with Byakuya, then.

The Impostor snorts and tells everyone to don’t bother trying to figure out their true identity and they are just a teenager. Even when Kazuya asks how many people have joined Super High School Level Despair or if they were the ones who are behind inciting the Reserve Course to to hold their “Parade”, they merely dodge answering it.

“I just said you don’t have to think about my identity. I am just…yes, I am just chasing a star.”

Byakuya seemed to looked bored as he gazed at the Imposter. “What do mean by chasing the stars? Explain it to me.” he ordered.

“I have been paying attention to you. To me you are the ‘Super High School Level Heir’, a symbol of Hope. It is because you are that symbol of Hope that I will fall into despair.”

“How twisted. Also, deal with the cream on your face.”

The Impostor tells the real Byakuya that they should eliminate the WHO, which doesn’t have anything to do with the story, and then start once again the battle between Hope’s Peak Academy and the Despair High School. Shinobu compares this to a girl rejoicing after they confessed their love to their crush and she becomes somewhat embarrassed upon seeing it.

Byakuya-sama is God.

Shinobu believes this to be the absolute truth of the world, though it doesn’t need to be expressed in such a way like what the Imposter is doing. Shinobu is also quite unhappy that other people are now declaring it as truth as she believed that “fact” was her own personal secret. But Kazuya says that the Impostor is the one who doesn’t have anything to do with the story since he is just a fake pig. The Imposter shoots this back at him as Kazuya being the one no one wants to see and that he can’t even match up as an imposter himself. Imposter equates Kazuya’s skills as a fake to a worm. The Imposter then tells him to heed these words and go back home.

"I have been taken away, my hometown, my name, and my life. It is all gone. There is no place for me to be able to return. No matter what people say to me, I will stand in front." Kazuya says.

"Tell me one thing, is life interesting being robbed by others? Hometown, name, life, and even your beloved sister. Has losing all of those made life interesting?" taunts the Imposter with a smile.

The Imposter’s ironic smile makes Shinobu want to vomit, as it reminds her of Kazuya and she avoids their sight. Since the Imposter isn’t Kazuya, she has no idea what to make of them.

Kazuya looks at Byakuya and asks him to return his sister and everything he stole from him, starting with the Kudan. The Imposter also gets in it out as well, since they desire the Kudan as well.This is because, at least how Shinobu sees it, since the Kudan is the secret behind the Togami’s family prosperity:

If you can’t get it, even if you don’t understand it, you can’t really become Byakuya Togami.

“Answer me, Mr. Authentic, where is the ‘Kudan’?”

“Answer me, Byakuya Togami, where is the ‘Kudan’?”

As both demand it, Shinobu notes that the two seems to be acting less like those who want to become Byakuya Togami, but rather those who want to become his enemy.

Byakuya answers that he sealed the Kudan away, since he doesn’t need it to dominate the world. As such, Kazuya demands it back since he found it, though Byakuya believes the knowledge of the Kudan’s prophecy is worthless since the future can’t be changed regardless of one knowing or not. While this is happening, Shinobu looks up information about the Kudan.

Kazuya argues that even if one is destined for failure, they would still be able to minimize the loss thanks to the Kudan’s prophecy given him a warning. Byakuya just insults him and calls him a defeatist that was needed to face reality. To prove his point, he then he wraps the handcuffs he is wearing around Shinobu’s neck, and pulls with strength. Shinobu however is loving it, because of how close Byakuya is.

"You have been escaping from reality all this time. I want you to see it clearly,” Byakuya says “Look carefully: this woman, ‘Blue Ink', belongs to me, so I can even treat her like this."

Byakuya-sama raised my head up and rubbed against my cheek. Ah, now i'm really sweating, this feels weird.

Kazuya’s exploding blood vessels appeared on his forehead, and hid glasses trembled without him having to touch them. No, his whole body was shaking, from the top of his head to his fingertips. This was, without a doubt, a sign of true madness. Kazuya’s body trembled, staring at us intently.

“Hey!”

I heard such a voice, and in the next moment, the table was cut into two halves from the middle. The cake and the teacups flew around, and the fake Byakuya screamed with a clearly frustrated voice, "Gah, I haven't finished eating yet!"

Kazuya’s right hand… It’s the same...

"Your lives... are now in the palm of my hand. So, will you be dying now? Do you want to Die? Answer me."

Kazuya approached us with that lightsaber in hand. Byakuya-sama, in Kazuya’s blind fury, whispered quietly into my ear.

“Wait for me.”

Then he finally let me go. Kazuya has snorted and repeatedly gasped in a mixture of pure anger and sexual excitement, restraining the impulse to use the sword on his hand immediately. His expression was so distorted, it looked like a twisted laugh.

"There is still a long time before we arrive in the Netherlands. Now, Shinobu, it’s only been for years since we last met, but let us continue where we left off… Nice and slowly…” [11]

Dragon AU

The life of a dragon is a fundamentally lonely existence. Even if a dragon was inclined to socialize with his own kind their territorial nature wouldn’t allow anything further than a breeding fling. As for the lesser races, they’d much rather have a dragons head on a pike than over for tea.

Keith has never been satisfied with this way of life. Ever since leaving his clutch, something inside of him has longed for a thing he can’t quite name. He’s tried to fill the hole with territory, gold, and even absolute solitude, but nothing makes the desire go away.

Until one fateful day a wizened old crone approaches his lair. She introduces herself as Haggar, a powerful witch, and claims she knows the source of his unhappiness. In exchange for some of his power, she offers to cast a spell that will grant him the thing he doesn’t know he desires.

Dealing with witches is a fools errand, Keith knows the price you pay for their gifts often outweighs the good, but after so many years with this nameless longing in his chest, he doesn’t much care about what he could lose anymore.

Keith agrees, and the witch casts her spell. The spell changes Keith, twisting and morphing his body until in the place that once held a mighty dragon, there stands only one human man. Haggar tells him that if he has not found his nameless desire in one year, then he may undo the spell by merely wishing it. Then she disappears.

Unable to hunt in the manner he is accustomed. Keith is forced to leave his lair, in search of some way to survive in his new form. He adjusts quickly, but not quickly enough. Disaster befalls Keith and he is badly injured. His journey to find the thing he desires seemingly over before it begins. Then everything changes.

A scarred hunter finds Keith, unconscious in the woods. The man takes pity on him and carries him home to patch him up. Keith awakens, and after a rocky start agrees to stay until he’s well enough to travel on his own.

Over the time it takes him to heal, Keith learns many things about his savior. The human’s name is Shiro. He used to be a favored officer in King Zarkon’s army, until he became too disgusted by what he was ordered to do and fled, and he’s lonely. There is a bounty on his head, even in disguise his trips to town must be quick. Keith is the first person he’s been able to just talk to in a long, long while.

For the first time since leaving the company of his clutch, Keith feels content. He has no wealth, no lair, but somehow having the human to talk to when he feels like it and to sit beside quietly when he doesn’t, makes him happier than all the gold in the world.

When he’s healed enough to leave, the thought doesn’t even cross his mind. Shiro welcomes him as permanent fixture in his home and life with open arms. They spend many happy months together, and Keith thinks that he knows for certain how he will decide when the year of the spell ends. He can’t imagine going back to how he lived before, after getting a taste of what companionship feels like.

Then the army comes. Someone recognizes Shiro and tell’s Zarkon’s soldiers where he’s hiding. Eager to punish the traitor, they seek out Shiro and Keith’s happy home and attack. They manage to escape, but the army sets fire to the woods behind them. They can never go back.

Shiro assures Keith that they will be fine. They will find somewhere new to settle in. They only need to explore the kingdom a bit to find a place suitably secluded enough. They set out, and Keith finally finds out the negatives to Haggar’s spell.

Every where they travel, there is oppression and abuse. Zarkon’s is bent on ruling not only his kingdom, but every kingdom around. His army is vast, and his peasants suffer for it. Everything is for feeding the army, the peasant's children starve so that Zarkon can afford to feed one more soldier. Wealth is plundered to fill officer’s homes, and complaints are dealt with by the sword.

Misery is everywhere, and circling high above is the weapon that Zarkon uses to suppress any who would challenge him. Haggar’s pet, a mindless red dragon. Keith can’t help recognizing the face that reflected back at him for most his life. Haggar’s spell, he gets what he most desires, and in exchange she gets to use his original form as an attack dog to enforce Zarkon’s rule.

For the first time since finding happiness, Keith doesn’t know if he should break the spell or not.

Notes: Because I couldn’t work these in explicitly. Keith’s nameless desire, is that he’s lonely. As Haggar would put it, he has an impurity in his blood (a human ancestor in his bloodline) that makes him incapable of being truly happy living the solitary life of a Dragon.

Dragons aren’t evil. They are just territorial outside of mating times and don’t much like talking to others. For the human that gets smushed for wandering too close to the unmarked cave, there is little difference.

Keith is extremely introverted by human standards. He’d be very unhappy and overwhelmed living in a city or even a small town. Unlike a human, he was alone for decades and never once flirted with insanity.

Background – Why are we playing here?

Rob has ditched The CAD and headed to Orlando, playing some of the best courses in the area.

I’ve always wanted to play a “Disney” course. The theme parks themselves are magical and after holding a PGA Tour event for 40 consecutive years, the golf courses always promised the same. After 4 trips to USA in 6 years, I was finally allowed to pack my clubs for our family trip in early 2018. The fact I had some company made it even more appealing. With Crossy Snr in tow and available for 3 rounds, I booked the golf, (via www.teetimesUSA.com) and didn’t hesitate for the first course to be Disney’s Magnolia.

Dad and I were lucky enough to be joined by one of my friends Mel (who happened to be with his family in Florida the same 2 weeks) and his Dad (Keith). With a tee time booked for 11:36, we planned to arrive early, have a bite to eat, hit the range to knock the rust off and then head out to the 1st tee.

Magnolia is one of the Disney courses (the other being Palm Course) to hold a PGA Tour event. Starting in 1971, the event has held various formats, titles and sponsors. Most recently between 2007 – 2013 the event was sponsored by Children’s Miracle Network, but in 2013 the event without any sponsorship was pulled from PGA Tour schedule.

Amongst others both Tiger Woods and Jack Nickalus multiple winners. A popular event on tour due to its location in Florida, with many PGA players located in close proximity. For the club golfer you are enticed further, in addition to the Disney name and the history but also with the description of “wide fairways”. This is quickly followed-up with “11 of the 18 holes” have water and there are “97 bunkers dotted around”

Welcome and Check-In

I haven’t played much abroad, and haven’t go the hang of the bag drop part of these day!

We arrived, dropped our bags off and didn’t see them again until we’d checked in and were ready to play. This was easy, we got a complimentary locker and range ball tickets, two of the guys even hired clubs. $80 all in and a 12 pack of TaylorMade Project (a) balls thrown in.

The welcome was warm and inviting, like the staff at the Disney parks they were happy you were playing the course.

Clubhouse and Pro Shop

I’m not sure we saw everything on site. The pro shop was big and well stocked, the guys in there were friendly, despite being in the midst of dealing with “guests” moaning about the recent trial of footgolf on the Oak Trail 9 hole. “It’s so dangerous”

We wanted breakfast and were given the option of a fast food window behind the putting green or to go to a sit down area. We chose the window option, so if we had gone to the sit down area (which i think was in the on-site hotel) we may have uncovered some hidden areas to access!

Sausage and bacon rolls were delivered immediately, along with 4 large coffees. More like McDonalds than a golf club. Still it tasted good and we sat in the shade, looking out over the putting greem.

I found the whole site to be a bit “compact” with the pro shop and locker area almost “it” from a building point of view.

Both were spacious enough and the locker room has a nice touch with small engraved plaques for each of the previous winners on various lockers.

It didn’t have so much a “grand” feel, more a “club” feel, or actually a bit of a “resort” feel.

Buggies were pre-loaded with our clubs. Each buggy has a full screen GPS inside (with a super cool feature – you touch the screen where you want to lay up or play to, and the screen gives you the distance to that point, then the distance to the middle of the green) – some not so “obvious” signs indicated that 4 hr 30 mins is the length of our round!

Practice Facilities

The putting green was huge and you could chip onto it, killing two warm-ups in one go.

It was also reflective of condition on the course, with a similar speed and surrounding fringes the same quality.

The range was limited and not covered, but the mats were in decent condition and we didn’t struggle to find a spot to hit a “small” bucket of balls. I shanked a good number of them (which I often do on the range, but never on the course?!?)

It was functional, and clearly used by everyone ! Also just a 20 second drive from either the 1st or 10th tee.

1st Tee

Or the 10th. We met Ted. Our starter.

“We start you on the 10th tee because that’s how the course was designed”

“When Arnold Palmer Management took over the running of all Disney courses, Arnie immediately changed the 9’s around” “So when the PGA Tour was here, the grandstands were behind the 9th not the 18th and the course was played backwards”

He was great, really friendly, clearly enjoyed his job and set us on our way – we decided as on holiday to go off the gold tees, the equivalent to a UK yellows and make the round enjoyable, not a long slog in the heat.

Magnolia is the longest of the courses, so it made sense at the time.

Par 72 (above varying distances)

Front 9 consists of 4 x Par 4 / 2 x Par 3 / 2 x Par 5

Back 9 consists of 4 x Par 4 / 2 x Par 3 / 2 x Par 5

A “resort” style championship course with plenty of water and bunkers to sculpt the course. Fairways shaped, with various of dog legs and featured raised greens.

It is a great looking course and set up, the greens have various slopes,sizes and shapes.

Best Holes on the Front 9 (Or holes 10-18 on the card)

10th – Par 5

Start your round with Par 5 and a stream running virtually the full length of the hole, scattered bunkers all over make this a challenge for the player wanting to go for the green in 2. A gentle start off the golds, I can see why this is the 1st hole in the original design.

18th – Par 4

Tree lined off the tee, maybe the toughest tee shot on the course width wise. Water running down the right side of the hole. One of the longer approaches I had hitting a 5 iron after a weak drive. Made a great par here.

Best Holes on the Back 9 (Or holes 1 – 9 on the card)

6th hole – Par 3 “Mickey Mouse Bunker”

This is a great hole not just because of the special bunker but it really does test the player. It was playing 168 yards when we got to the tee. Water in front of the green with bunkers short left and right of the raised green. Green which slopes right to left and back to front.

To top it off all four of us made PARS!

7th hole – Par 4

Stunning. Off the tee and down the left is a huge lake which pushes the player towards the right side of the hole, but the green is actually on the left. Bunkers and trees await those who bail out.

Summary

The course was visually pleasing with lots of water and bunkers, it didn’t give me many WOW’s when approaching the tees. The condition of the course was exceptional, bunkers perfect and very very nice fairways and tees but for a PGA Tour standard course. I expected this.

In reality maybe ALL of the holes were of such a good standard that none stood out, or maybe the fact I was under the weather. I did struggle to visualise the course after the round, but that is normal for me.

The greens were slower than I anticipated and actually I didn’t find them too tricky. Slopes, but obvious breaks to read.

Here’s the thing, in hindsight – it was too easy off the tee from the golds. The indication in USA of how tough a course is, is the Slope Rating. This ranges from 75 to 155. With handicaps adjusted accordingly. 113 being of average difficulty.

Maybe the tees were up ? But lesson learned, as on the other two courses (on Traitor Trip 2) we played off the blue tees – which at Disney’s Magnolia would have been 137 Slope Rating.

We really the enjoyed the round, and maybe we did the right thing to ensure we did enjoy the experience.

Personally, I felt that a number of the holes were too short for the width of the fairway.

I don’t recall being in any trouble off the tee, what I do recall is hitting 5 iron then some sort of wedge on three par 4 holes.

Would I go back?

Yes, 100%. We all had a great day and thought the course overall was well worth the visit (and cost)

All of the holes looked stunning and the condition was outstanding. The whole place was smaller than I anticipated but with the whole “Disney” name and vibe, you can tell why its one of the most popular courses in the area.

I played pretty well, shooting 3 birdies on the way to a decent 79 (+7) and we did see an alligator or two!

On my return I would play off a tee more suited to the courses we play at home, 3 players out of our Four-Ball shot under handicap, and to me playing an “away” course, on a PGA Tour championship course should have been tougher – but we had fun !!!

What I think about shipps in my next life as a Villainess

1 Geordo x Katarina: okay so first the GeoKata my opinion on this is this shipp Is ABUSIVE towards Katarina, let me explain Katarina started in this relationship believing from the start that Geordo is just using her and that he will cheat on her and is willing to actually exil her as well as taking everything she owns from her and even kill her to be with that other girl, and in the beginning that was TRUE, he indeed just wanted to USE her! I know that he changed his mind on that but that started only because she was "different " and worse is that she thinks she "deserve" that for being the "Villainess" Yes she thinks he has "right" to cheat,betray and kill her because of her "Villainess" staus, yes she does stand up to him to protect others, but she does that despite of what he might do to her because she just cares so much for others, she also sees the engagement she has with him as a cruel leash dragging her to her doom and even if she doesn't see like that anymore she did so for 7 years! In which she continuesly asked Geordo to break their engagement, which he refused, to her this relationship made it impossible for her to have any amount of self-respect, I would hate it if Geordo is the one ending up with Katarina since it would basically rewarding him for unintentionally abusing her and the horrible actions of his Original Counterpart, since she will always think it's his right to cheat,betraying and even kill her as long as she sees that as his "right" it's impossible for them to stay as equal to eachother Katarina will always be Geordo's VICTIM as long as she convinced he can treat her how he wants just because she's the Villainess, this would be a Stockholm syndrome situation and this relationship makes it nigh impossible for her to develop any self-respect, and even if she's able to realize that is not his right to do those things to hear she still had to live under this assumption for 7 years! This relationship is not good for her, it prevents from having self-respect, she believes he can treat her as horrible as he wants, there is no way for them to be equal in this relationship and Katarina shouldn't be forced to be with someone who makes her think less of herself I honestly can't believe that people who actually like Katarina are GeoKata fans giving how abusiv it clearly is to her,GeoKata is bad for Katarina's self worth it's bad for her mental health and it's bad for her overall, yeah it's good for Geordo but if you want Katarina to be sacrificed for Geordo like that than your being very unfair to Katarina, Katarina deserves better + Geordo is the one behaving the most like his Original Counterpart treating Katarina like property, his Original self who exiled and murdered Katarina, Katarina DESERVES BETTER.

Katarina x Keith: so I take Katarina x Keith for seconds, after everything I said about GeoKata you probably think I hate this shipp aswell right? Well wrong, I don't like it, but I don't hate it because unlike Geordo Keith has actually made far greater difference between him and his Original Counterpart, further more he has been far more considered of Katarina's boundaries, and Katarina has far less problems building self-respect since they live constantly together and had a clear heart to heart after the Golem incident she believed that nothing of the bad stuff would happen if she's just happen to be supportive there be no Exile killing, so he puts less of a strain on her soul than Geordo dose, and I can see him to be actual treading her right he's even willing to help her with her civil disguise when visiting Maria, and even helping her from staying out of her Mother's radar, so I atleast see he would do his best for her and atleast try to be good for her so he's better than Geordo and they can have a functioning positive relationship

Katarina x Mary: So third is Mary and yes she's a clear yandere with an extremely aggressive personality, but what concerns me about her is that their is clear indication she's actually willing to Kidnapping Katarina without letting her know the situation she's in, therefore I'm not really a fan of it but atleast she doesn't actually has to fear for her life with Mary, so she's atleast better than Geordo.

Alan x Katarina: so I know alot people like this shipp and I'm honestly not a fan of cheating, but again Mary herself is in love with Katarina so I guess it wouldn't be wrong if he understood that hey if he managed to get Katarina and was willing to share Mary would be more than pleased with him, so yeah I also like that they had Sword fights with her and i wanted to see Sword fighting Katarina

Sophia x Katarina: so now we're going to Katarina's Original friend the friend who Reincarnated along side her, A-Chan a lot people would say the fact that Sophia is A-chans Reincarnation and that she's followed Katarina in to the next life makes her a great partner for Katarina right ? I actually have a serious bone to pick with Sophia not despite but BECAUSE she is A-Chan because a have with A-Chan herself because as you all surely remember A-Chan was the one who introduced her to Fortune Lover and also the one who told her what a Terrible "Villainess" Katarina Claes is, which is the main reason why Katarina now believes she doesn't deserve love, yes I said it A-Chan is responsible for Katarina believing she dosen't deserve love, had she been more honest about the story and told her Katarina who is supposed to be the Villainess is less evil than Heroine and the Capture Targets who ruthlessly destroyed her life, that Geordo and Maria and Keith are Morally bankrupt Monsters (even if there's speculation that Maria didn't want it) who had no right to do what they did to her, than Katarina would atleast have been able to understand that she deserved love and just had the bad luck to end up with a very bad partner who doesn't treat her fair, she would have been able to develop both feeling worth of love and self-respect and might actually get out of the toxic hold Geordo had on her and actually being happy with out thinking of herself as the lowest being in the world, and I know that Sophia/A-Chan maybe just wanted to get her in FL, but it's still A-chans fault that Katarina has such a low self esteem, and after all the content we now know that Original Katarina was a pretty good person atleast for Noble Girl standards, so all A-Chan had to do was just tell Her the Truth that Original Geordo, Original Keith and Original Maria were the Selfish Monsters they are and how they literally ricked a trial to unfairly ruin her life steal everything from her and yeah that's something I hope she sets straight in one of those visions.

Nicole x Katarina: The best ship so far, and even though he appears outward similar if Geordo told this Nicole to help him fake documents to get a person exiled who doesn't deserve that he would probably report that to the King and Queen instead of actually partaking in it, he has been very considered and he is a clever person who also has great chemistry with her

Maria x Katarina: The final part of the main Harem, and I never hide that I'm a huge MariKata fan, I know that comes of strange as I very much insist that Geordo Is the most similar to his Original self despite spending the most time with Katarina, well Maria is the opposite, unlike her sneaky, selfish,heartless Original Counterpart, Hamefura Maria is brave, charismatic she doesn't hide behind others like a Coward, when Katarina or her other friends are in danger she sticks up to them, I really think that Hamefura Maria is the best partner for Bakarina, even though Original Maria is a horrible person, and don't come me with "but she just wasn't confident enough to apposed Geordo and/or Keith on Katarina's trial" she clearly didn't felt any remorse about it! Our she would act differently in FL 2

Harem x Katarina: this is one of the view Shows where a Harem ending is deserved.

As a person who haven't read much of the manga nor the Light Novels, and only with prior knowledge from the anime, I have zero clue of what was OG Katarina's deeds that were not bad. I would appreciate it if I were to be enlightened with some of these facts I do not know about.

First of when Katarina was younger Baron sherry came to house Claes to force Anne in to a Forced Marriage that played out In OG Fl

The same way it did in they Anime,what you may not know is that the Mann he tried to marry her of to was already above 60 years! And known for committing Domestic Violence on his previous Wifes,So little OG Katarina stood up to protect her lowly Maid who is nothing more than a Commoner point from a grown ass scary looking Adult,

She also never bullyd Sophia despite the rest of Sociar Nobility Children doing it

She even told her own grown clique to leave Sophia alone as she was the little sister of her fiances best friend

Which is more than Geordo ever did for the Ascards,

She encouraged Sianna Nelson daughter of the lowest ranked Noble family in all of Sociar after seeing her hard work

And Sianna became Katarina's best friend despite being just one single step about a Commoner in her status

Which shows that even OG Katarina cared more about a persons personality than status when choosing friends

She only gets on trial in the routes were Maria tries it with either Katarina's Fiance or adopted Brother or both

And that with the Alan was just a miss translation when the Harem route was meant

First of,apparently no matter which route you choose Maria's actuall first crush was Katarina even in the FL time line

Second the more obvious Katarina only behaved the way she did in the Game because of Raphael/Sirius dark magic

Hold it... the dark magic thing makes too much sense.

Since OG Katarina's exagerated actions towards OG Maria were out of character for her if what you said is true.

It would also explain why an trained swordsman like OG Geordo would Kill OG Katarina instead of disarming her despite being (probably) skilled enough for it...

OG Keith magic going crazy is more easily believable.

So...everything bad that happened with OG Katarina can be traced back to Sirius (well...traced to the mage whispering in his ear but still).

I already have great sympathy for both OG Katarina and OG Maria.

if both rumours are true that scaled even higher...

Yea i used to hate OG Maria,ans she certainly is a coward but...

After hearing about it i most say it turned the whole thing in an even greater tragedy...

Can you imagen your first love being killed for being mean to you...?

Also Katarina only tries to kill OG Maria in the Bad ending

Meaning she is already sentenced to Exile = death for a spoiled Duke Daughter

Meaning even Dark Magic can only bring Katarina to kill Maria if Maria has already become the catalyst for her own demise not before....

I think dark magic was involved from the beginning.

OG Katarina being mad at OG Maria in Geordo's route makes sense ( and it's completly fair), but it makes little sense in the Keith's route.

OG Katarina disliked OG Keith and OG Maria wasn't the first woman he courted, so it still is out of character for her.

And the Exile ending has Keith/Geordo print all over it, because they both disliked OG Katarina and i have a hard time beliving OG Maria resented Katarina's treatment.

Also i would not go as far as to call OG Maria a coward, after her magic manifested she had no positive human interaction at all...

The people of her village avoided because of her magic, her supposed existence because of an affair or both.

Her father left and her mother couldn't even look at her in the eye.

So she had a combo of critically low self esteem and affection starved.

Also the only routes that OG Maria was in the wrong in my opinion are Geordo and Alan (since both are betrothed to another)

Since the choice is player based we can only speculate.

About the 'see dark magic thing', Fortune lover is a video game and Raphael/Sirius is an hidden capture target.

I don't know how the route is unlocked, but if it's supposed to be hidden maybe OG Maria needed to unlock a certan skill level or achieve something that allowed her to see dark magic.

If it was that obvious it would be a pretty on the nose hidden route for a video game.

My theory is that OG Maria 'persuit' of the capture targets was more on her need to have an good human connection (aka out of loneliness and desperation).

So i assume the hidden route would apear when she achieved enough self confidence/resolve to do so.

I don't see the OG Maria that would hide behind a capture target as having that conviction.

The Isekai Maria on the other hand confronted Sirius alone by her own will power (Bakarina's kindess gave her the confidence boost) and that Maria is the one that we are sure can see dark magic.

Because of that i belive that OG Maria needed to make the other capture targets lives and selves better without losing to her loneliness, then she would be able to truly help Raphael. (but that is just my theory)

Also, since we are sharing theories.

Three things that always made me scratch my head:

- All routes have a single rival (except Katarina that apears in two)

- All routes rivals share their element with the capture target (except Katarina[earth] in Geordo[fire] route)

- In 'Verge of destruction' another rival apears and is interested in Geordo and acts like what one would expect from a villainess (Noelia[fire])

I have a theory for that (again i treat Fortune Lover as a video game)

I think in the test/beta version of the game Katarina is the rival in Keith's route and Noelia is the rival in Geordo's route.

But since Katarina would be the sister rival it would overlap in base concept with Sophia and Nicol, and the somewhat similar stage presence of Villain Katarina and Villain Noelia would create another redundancy,

so i assume the developers scrapped Noelia as an character and transfered some of her dialogue to Katarina.

Noelia doesn't apear in the Base isekai because Bakarina apeared before the game started, but she apears in the Verge of destruction because the game already started and Bakarina's apearance glitched the game back to the Beta because it needed someone in the Villain role.

That is a difficult question, but i will do my best.

Warning it will be a long comment...

Lets start with a simple but complicated question: what makes people fall in love?

- Do they treat you different form everyone else?

- Do you admire something about them?

- Do you just enjoy their company more then usual?

- Do you share a connection with them?

- Do they complete you in a significant whay?

With those questions in mind:

- OG katarina kinda fits on the first, others where moved by envy, self importance or self steem issues , Katarina might have seen OG Maria as a threat to her future, so she was the first to take her seriously and more than just a cute face with undeserved magic.

- That is easy to answer, OG Katarina AND Bakarina are so unapologetic themselves that someone like Maria that works hard to be accepted can admire they carring their hearts on their sleeve.

- That is a hard NO, i fear.

- They have the contrast connetion, Katarina is a proud high rank noble, but has weak magic and worse academics, Maria is a shy humble commoner, but has a rare and powerful magic and excells academically, in short they don't fit exacly in their expected envioment.

- Again OG Katarina and Bakarina have the confidance that Maria lacks, they are proud of themselves despite many believing that outside of their title there is very little to be proud of, Maria has a lot of skills and despite having them she still does't fell that is enough.

Or Maria would fall in love for no reason a all, love is weird.

That wall of text tries to explain why OG Maria would fall for OG Katarina.

But now as to why OG Katarina was the first:

All capture targets didn't take OG Maria seriously, they were dismissive ( Geordo[the see everything grey 'perfect' prince], Nicol[way to focused on his sister], Alan[self steem issues]) or saw her as another petty face (Keith[the flirty playboy]), OG katarina took her seriously, BAD seriously but still.

Because they took longer to open up to OG Maria, any points that require them showing their stories delayed the love route, BUT OG Katarina basically roars what she is about with little regard for anything.

On the begining the "enjoy company" part is on the negative for everyone (including OG katarina) so no point for anyone

Again BOTH OG Katarina and Bakarina are open books, aka easier to understand and relate than the others.

Put all that with OG Maria's unhealty lack of human affection...it's possible.

TL,DR: i belive that is possible that OG Katarina would be OG Maria first crush, not a very healty one but still.

Hmm...

There are two Capture targets (Geordo and Keith) and two Endings (Exile and Death)

I will answer both questions depending on the combinations.

-Exile(General)

Disapointed in OG Maria, she doesn't look like the kind of person that would want OG Katarina exiled(or even resent her for that matter), but probably let it go because either she was convinced by her current lover or didn't want to risk put her current situation at risk, but i really belive she will feel guilty(specially in Geordo's route) and really worried for Katarina.

Very Worried/sad for OG Katarina, she got her life ruined and now has to survive in a place she doen't know, since she is a spoiled noble that cant end well. As a bonus, if there was dark magic, it wasn't even her fault at all.

-Exile(Keith)

Angry at OG Keith, while he had fair reasons to hate OG Katarina, saying he went overboard is an undestatment, since he actually had worse before the Claes took him in. And OG Katarina probaly treated him bad because she saw him as proof of her father's infidelity and causing indirect pain to her mother( both undestandable since she was 8 and i belive her mother encoraged her to it).

IF dark magic gave him a push then i feel kinda bad for him too.

-Exile(Geordo)

JUMP OFF A CLIFF, OG Geordo is implied to have little to no care to anyone until OG Maria apeared, aka he used OG Katarina as a tool and i belive that her exile in this case was more to break the engagement without a hit on his reputation and not because of her treatment of OG Maria(because again i dont think Maria would want this).

Even if there was dark magic, he was using and manipulating OG Katarina before any interaction with Sirius, so i repeat...JUMP OFF A CLIFF.

-Death(general)

Feel really bad for OG Maria, she was alone for most of her life, found a first love in OG Katarina that despised her (fairly in Geordo's route), saw said first love DIE RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER by the hands of her present love after the former tried to KILL HER, so she will blame HERSELF for Katarina's death, and now her present lover goes in a self imposed exile leaving her totally ALONE AGAIN.

(put that girl on suicide watch, therapy of both geez)

As a bonus (since the murderer left) she will have to endure the repercutions of the nobility alone.

Do i even need to explain OG Katarina...poor girl watched her life being ruined little by little, tried to kill the reason her life was ruined(in her eyes) and said murder atempt wasn't really her choice (dark magic) and then DIED FOR IT. Hope she finds peace...

Death(Keith)

Conflicted between furious and sad for OG Keith, if my memory serves right OG Katarina was killed because he lost control (maybe had dark magic involved) when trying to protect OG Maria.

Dude was tortured in his original home, got a new one where the mother and the older sister didn't treat him well and now he killed his sister and he didn't even mean it. Now he leaves the only one that actually treated him well out of guilt (kinda a dick move on Keith's part but still)

Death(Geordo)

do i even need to go in detail...

Be honest Geordo, you wanted Katarina gone, just not like that because it would reflect bad on you, are you leaving out of guilt or because you are fleeing the consequences.

As a bonus you are leaving Maria behind to deal with the repercution of YOUR actions.

Before the academy

- Maria would be horrified to see what would happen because of her. But also would know both Keith and Katarina need her help.

She maybe would try to at least clear the air about Keith being Katarina's half brother, then Katarina could apologise, and Maria would try to protect Katarina from Geordo (poor girl needs it) i don't know if katarina would listen to her. I don't see this Maria going for Geordo, she maybe would try her luck with Keith, Katarina or both.

One detail Maria lacks confidence to do it, but she both cares about them and feels like she owes it to them to do her best, and Maria is a hard worker.

Before the endings(Keith's route)

- This time she would try her hardest to convince Keith to leave Katarina alone, or at least not insist on the exile. And would still try to save Katarina from Geordo. I don't see her relationship with Keith being afected in a meanfull way, but i am not sure if she will try to become friends with Katarina, both because she knows Katarina deslikes her now and because she feels like she does't deserve to become katarina's friend.

Before the ending(Geordo's route)

- Again would try to save Katarina, but this time i dont think she herself would feel save around someone like Geordo, even if he does care about her, not sure if the relationship would end but she would be weary of him at least, maybe even try to hold him back on his more malicous tactics to protect others from him.

After the ending(Keith's route - Exile)

- She would try to convince Keith to help her find Katarina or go herself, to at least see if she is ok and if not would assist her even if Katarina refused. Maria would be sad if Keith didn't try to help his sister, but she would understand (and would help Katarina alone)

After the ending (Geordo's route - Exile)

- Again would try to find Katarina, Geordo hardly would help and more so to apease Maria. This has a high chance to put a strain in their relationship. Since this Maria now knows that Geordo didn't gave Katarina the respect she deserved, and now sees a side of the prince she doesn't like.

After the ending (Keith's route - Death)

- Maria would be in a bad place,with extreme guilt and alone, but she would try to find Keith because she knows he is also in a bad place and she feels like she owes to at least stop him from doing something stupid, someone died because of her, she won't let another.

After the ending (Geordo's route - Death)

- By far the worst case for Maria's mental health, Katarina died because of her, and all because she fell for a man that didn't really deserve it.

This Maria has little to fight for now for and needs urgent therapy.

Oh...my bad, i assumed you meant the game timelines.

Assuming the other timeline was the isekai one.

General

Maria would be confused with some key differences between Bakarina and OG Katarina.

Before the academy and before the Exile endings.

She would try harder to save/befriend OG Katarina because she now knows a more friendly and kind person is in there (since i belive OG Katarina and Bakarina ARE the same person just raised differently and in different envioments)

Still would help OG Keith and maybe score both.

OG Geordo will get some help from her in this case, because now she knows a the is a version of Geordo that can be better person.(Still don't think she would end up with him though)

The biggest impacts (emotionaly wise) would be in the death's endings.

OG Maria would feel even worse than in my other analysis.

In Keith's route - i am not sure if she would try to help OG Keith in his exile here because now she knows she took all the wrong choices and maybe she is now too terrified to make things even worse.

In Geordo's route - This somehow is worse than the previous one. Because now she knows:

1 - OG Katarina was an extremely kind person inside and had things been different would be an amazing friend or maybe more (and died because of her bad choices).

2 - OG Geordo HAD a possibility of becoming a better person and he got worse (again her choices didn't help there)

3 - The rest of the Isekai harem could have become good friends and companions to her (not in this continuity)

In short, knowing what could have been (and won't because of her) would break what is left of OG Maria spirit.

It isn't very clear in verge of doom but in both setting's Maria is definitely happier with Katarina around

Than in all good endings of FL,

So i refuse to believe she would be willing to damned the Woman who is the only one she ever truly loved in all possible timeliness

As the happy ending's in FL don't make her seem all that happy....

I don't discont the death ending because there is a dark mage lurking in the corner.(maria isn't aware of them)

And yes, she is happier with Katarina around indeed.

I think the exile is more of fault of OG Keith ( verge of doom Keith shows his deslike of her, and if dark magic was involved then it would take much)

The Exile in OG Geordo's route had the prince's print all over it, even without dark magic, heck in verge of doom the first think that comes to his mind when Katarina 'changed' is "I can still use her"(...Fk you Geordo...)

The Verge of doom characters the same as the Game counterpart until Bakarina changed them.

As for the endings i don't think "happy" is the right word for OG Maria.

She went from being bullied and alone to finally have a person that cares for her (up from zero) and said person is most likely protecting her from the bullies.

Her life overall improved, BUT only 1 person cares for her so she still lonely and the Katarina issue makes her sad.

So less 'happy' and more 'content' in my opinion.

Its like if someone survived with only water and bread their whole life and now has milk and buttered bread, its and improvement and their are 'content' (but still less than ideal)

It's not like Keith believed that Maria would save him, it's more like she saved him and them he fell for her.

But i agree that he would accept Katarina in that cenário for three reasons:

1 - Maria saved him so it would be hypocrite of him to not let her save Katarina.

2 - If the misundestanding is cleared and Katarina apologised, he is capable of giving her a chance (verge of destruction shows that).

3 - That would make Maria happy, and maybe that is enough.

I agree with the last part too (this is the longest dicussion i participated in that didn't involve the autor lmao)

It again baffled me how different Noelia is from OG Katarina,

Katarina always good oppen in any fight yet there a still some brainless morons who claim they were the same!

I think the main reason why Sirius used Katarina and not Noelia is that if he used Noelia she would just have killed Maria outright, but Katarina has a good heart so she would be more Tame under his influence.

You have a point. I think another reason Sirius chose to use katarina was because Noel was too smart and cunning in his schemes.

The moment he started motivating Noel with black magic, Noel wouldn't just start bullying Maria. but will find a way to immediately eliminate Maria from the game. and leaves no trace of evidence.

This goes very much against Sirius' wishes.

First, Sirius never really wanted to get rid of maria in OG FL, just wanted her out of his scheme (just as he didn't really want to get rid of Bakarina in hamefura. he just wanted Bakarina out of his scheme.)

Second, He wanted to cause chaos among the nobles, the royal family, and among the commoner, so that Noel's immediate eliminate Maria without any evidence would not cause such a thing.

A better option is the katarina, the prince's fiancée. who has a straightforward personality without plan. Will begin to small bully Maria for the whole university to see without hiding.

Noelia because of her very very bad personality. So she never had friends, true friends, companions, or people who cared about her. Therefore, even if she misses, she got caught. No one will come out to help her fight powerful groups around Maria. (Maybe with the exception of her family. Although I suspect she might have been abandoned because her family didn't want to get in trouble with the royal family.)

But on the other hand if it's katarina because she's inherently good, there will be a group of people she used to help, people who like her, her friends, people. who cares about her, her family, House of Adeth, Come out against the powerful group around Maria immediately. (Especially in the case of Prince Geordo. Katarina clearly had a reason for small bullying Maria. And Maria had the cause of being disgusted by the nobles. Because she stole Prince Geordo from her fiancée)

Of course there will be a lot of chaos following the OG FL storyline.

Yes, the main problem is that it wasn't Katarina's fault

Katarina is a good person,the people who truly got to know her loved and adore her, there will be a civil war and even if Maria's faction somehow wins they will be to weak for Sociar to survive as a Nation

the only possible solution for this situation in which The Kingdom doesn't disappear or fall to a hostile take over is Sirius coming out as a dark wizard and take every single bit of the blame,for everything that has ever happened during both games,

and Katarina reinstate as the daughter of house Claes and being made heir to the throne as compensation for everything she had to go through aswell as the Stuart's leaving the Kingdom for ever,which is pretty unlikely.

So yeah that Kingdom is done for

I actually have plans for a fanfiction about a possible fortune lover 3 but I can't actually do it on my own,

But at least I have "the Heroine's brother " trilogy

But there one-shots and unlike what I would plan for that

But I took a bit inspiration from the tales of serious,

I know some people have problems with it

But I love tales of Zestiria,yeah it could be better and I would have loved to work on it,especially in the story part.

But I got a bit to far away,

But that is just the main point,among all the Noble's in Sociar during the original timeline Katarina was the one who more than any other embodies the spirit of Nobless obliged,and that is why she is someone who is so important to soo many people,because a friend like her is rare almost non existence in Noble society, so of course no one wants to lose her.

Yes,the only way for the Nation to survive is like I said Raphael admitting to everything while also pointing out he choose Katarina because she was the only one on the entire Academy who hadn't killed Maria outright from the start,than the Royal family handing over the Kingdom to Katarina and leaving,that's the only outcome in which Sociar can survive.

The fanfiction I have in mind couldn't work,

Because I really couldn't make that one on my own for multiple reasons,but I could tell you the basic promise if you won't ?
