DILEMMA: i have realised, in my attempts to plan out the luca marinelli character bracket (fight), nicolò di genova has an unfair advantage due to being literally unkillable (permanently, at least), so i need to make it fairer somehow or it won't be any fun. therefore, the way i see it, i can either:

operate under the assumption that for whatever reason nicky is working WITHOUT his immortality (temporarily) but retaining 900 years of experience (fight will not be to the death)

assume each fight is timed, and it's more of a battle of endurance (so not to the death) (this may be reading too much into the hypothetical scenario for a poll)

just leave it as it is and let what happens happens without interference

#i have a plan ok it's going to work #mostly bc you can't properly track ao3 readership in a traditional wrapped format bc what if you dont finish a fic? or what if you reread it #like every visit to the page shouldn't be counted but revisits occasionally should if that makes sense #so what im going to do is make a spreadsheet noting every fic i read #and make a note to finish every fic i start purely for counting purposes #i'll mark how many words it is and leave a spot for whether or not i reread it and if so how many times #i might do some extra classifications for myself like whether or not i recommend it/if it would be a contender for yearly faves list #plus some extra notes section for myself like if it was finished when i started or if a fic got abandoned/was left unfinished #i think i may also note when i read it so i can track reading habits #of course most fics will be linked so i can return in case and for when i do my end of the year info post #i will probably also include images of my spreadsheet for others to try if they want to #im sure other people have done this and will be doing this so i'm curious to see some #anyway that's all

that said oh my god cue the usual agony. TOP FIVE MUSIC ARTISTS? of what, ALL TIME? what does "top" mean, is it like, most listened to? most beloved? ahhh. okay i have decided to just go with my gut. i'll do all time. sure. sure. i'm fine.

NOT in ranking order:

the cranberries - some of my earliest real memories are riding in my dad's car while he played everybody else is doing it, so why can't we? and no need to argue. i had my own favorite tracks that i requested on repeat. when i hear those opening chords, i am transported back in time. i'm so small that my eyes are barely level with the car window. i can smell the leather interior. i see my dad shifting gears, the leaves on the trees as we speed by, and i hear him laughing. to come back to these albums as an adult was profound and i fell into them heavily after my dad died. dolores' voice is like... pure comfort for me, even when she makes me cry.

frank ocean - if you were also in college when both nostalgia, ultra and channel orange dropped, you'll understand. and if you were younger, can you just imagine being in college when those albums dropped?! it was wild. soundtrack to my early 20s. i felt so much, wanted so much, despaired so much, loved so much and frank ocean had a song for everything. i love his voice, his lyricism, and the soundscapes he creates. i feel like he's not only trying to sing he's trying to submerge you into a bodily experience. no artist has so consistently driven me to weep just from the emotion in his voice. i love how he started and i love where he's gone and grown. i love everything he does musically. nothing is too weird or experimental for me.

florence + the machine - i was a freshman in high school when lungs was released and i heard "kiss with a fist" for the first time. you have to understand it sounded so different to everything on the radio where i lived and also so different to what i had been listening to (metal, punk, pop punk, hardcore, rap) while still giving that fuck you energy. i remember saying to my dad for the first time, playing it for him, "she uses her voice like another instrument!" my dad ended up being a big fan, too, and i am extremely lucky that we got to see them live together. watching my dad jump up & down to songs like "the dog days are over" and "you've got the love" and "spectrum" like a little kid is one of my favorite memories.

ok so i am always saying i hate doing "top ____" lists i can never really stand by them i change my mind all the time because i just love everything so much. THAT SAID here are 3 that came 2 mind right away. i cant say that i have much analysis tho idk ive already talked about two of them a LOT lmao.

#1 of course Thee image THE gerard way photo THE cheerard photo that ive had as my phone bg since the moment it dropped and have in tiny little stickers all around my home and have in fact stuck in little corners in many establisments across north england. im not analysing cheerard rn ive written enough on that subject but i think this is easily one of the most darling gerard images ever. and yes i know the photographer later released a much clearer cleaned-up version but this grainy original will have my heart forever and ever. hey remmeber when i put this photo on a cake and got to consume what i love that was so neat. shes with me forever now
