Eugene stayed dumbfounded, staring at the book in his hands.

“That day in the forest, you told me you read that book to the other kids in the orphanage, and it was why you chose the name Flynn Rider. So when I saw it in the shop, I had to get it for you.”

Eugene stared at the book a few more seconds, because finally lifting up his head to meet Rapunzel’s gaze. She had that adorable excited smile on her face, the one that made him fall in love with her. He tried to fight back tears, and smiled back.

This was the first time anyone had ever gave him a gift. For her to remember that story, and get her the book, completely unprompted... Eugene’s chest filled with warmth.

“Thank you, Blondie.”
