Elena looked up at Jane with a little smile. “Are you-are you flirting with me?”

Jane’s eyes widened. “What? No. No, I wouldn’t-I couldn’t...”

Elena smirked. “I asked you if you’re hungry and you said, and I quote, ‘If you were a steak you would be well done’. You’re drunk, Kano.”

“Pft, I don’t get drunk,” Jane said. “And I never said anything about steak.” Elena grinned. Jane had, and Jane was, and Elena loved it. She felt like something had been between them since nearly the moment they met, but she hadn’t been sure if it had just been in her head or not. But would Jane say that if it was? Elena’s face fell. Maybe she would. She still didn’t know Jane that well.

“You definitely said it,” Elena said, watching Jane’s face closely for any reaction.

“Oh.” Jane sipped her bourbon. “Well you are.”

“I am?” Elena smiled again, heat blooming on her cheeks. She watched Jane lift a finger to the bartender to order another drink. They were quiet as they waited, and when Jane got her glass she took a large gulp of it. The bartender sat another drink down for Elena and Jane picked it up and held it out for her. Elena took it, but Jane didn’t let go. Their fingers brushed and Elena felt a shiver down her spine.

"I think you're soda-licious," Jane said, barely above the din of the bar. Elena blushed and grinned.

"I like you like this," she said. She had drank around Jane before, with Jane drinking too, but she hadn't seen Jane drunk like this before. She watched Jane smile and drink. "So did you mean those things?" Elena put her elbow on the bar and her chin in her hand. Jane stared at her, and she stared back.

"Ask me tomorrow so I can deny it," Jane finally said.

"But I'm asking you now." Elena narrowed her eyes slightly, still smiling. She wanted to get as much information as she could from Jane while the other woman was willing to share.

Jane's smile faded and she narrowed her eyes back. "Did you put truth serum in my drinks?"

"You're such a dork," Elena laughed. "Really. Do you know how big of a dork you actually are?"

"Take that back," Jane said with a pout. "I was in MI-6. I'm a bad ass."

"Yes, a very big bad ass," Elena agreed truthfully. "And a dork." She sipped from the stirrer straw in her drink and it was still between her lips when she said, "But don't worry. It's really sexy."

"You think I'm sexy?" Jane asked, raising a perfect brow.

"Everyone who breathes thinks you are," Elena replied, rolling her eyes.

"I don't care about everyone who breathes."

"No?"

"No. Just, maybe, one person who breathes."

"And who would that be?" Elena asked, heart pounding. She watched Jane stare at her, her eyes dropping briefly to Elena's lips and back up to her eyes.

"You're going to get me into trouble tonight."

"That's the hope."

"You're not as innocent as you first seem," Jane said.

"Is that good or bad?"

"It isn't bad with you," Jane said slowly. Elena shifted and let her foot brush against Jane's ankle.

"You flatter me."

"You're...difficult to be around."

Elena frowned at that. "I am?"

"I just said it isn't bad with you," Jane reminded Elena.

"You're easy to be around. You make me laugh and make me feel warm."

"Warm?"

"Mhm," Elena hummed, sipping her drink again. She wasn't scared of her feelings, only how Jane would react to them, but at the moment she couldn't hold it back. "Jane, I haven't been this attracted to someone in a long time. I haven't liked anyone in this way in a long time."

"Attracted?" Jane blinked. "Liked?"

"Are you going to repeat every word I say or just the key ones?"

"Am I really drunk or are you coming onto me?"

"Both," Elena answered honestly. "Will you remember this tomorrow?"

"Yes," Jane answered.

"Good." Elena leaned over the space between them and kissed Jane's lips softly. "Care to repeat that too?"

"Yes," Jane whispered. So Elena kissed her again. Their lips moved together slowly and Jane's lips parted for Elena. Elena deepened the kiss and gripped onto the bar hard to keep from falling; both from gravity and how amazing it was. When she couldn't hold on any longer, she pulled back. Jane's eyes stayed shut for a moment, then she looked at Elena. "Maybe you should remind me of that tomorrow."

"I'll remind you tomorrow," Elena nodded. "And the day after that, and the day after that, and the day-" Jane cut her off with another short kiss.

"We should go back to the safe house."

"Why?" Elena asked playfully.

"Because the room is spinning."

"I'll pay and take you back," Elena said, seriously. "And maybe I'll lay down with you. Someone has to make sure you don't puke."

"I won't," Jane scoffed. "But...I'd like that."

Okay question for you. Say Elena is drunk one evening and she decides to draw on Jane's face. What would she put and how would Jane react upon waking up and discovering what she did?

LOL, classic. I think Elena would give Jane a curly mustache and bushy eyebrows. Then maybe some facial piercings. Then she'd fall asleep with the marker in her hand. So Jane would wake up and not know yet, but be confused why Elena is sleeping with a marker. Then Elena wakes up and looks at Jane and remembers and just says "Oh shit!" And Jane's like "...??" And Elena just smiles sweetly and tells Jane she's beautiful and shoves the marker under her pillow. Jane asks why Elena is acting weird. Elena awkward laughs. Says please don't be mad. Jane is more suspicious. Elena tells Jane to go look in the mirror and that she's really sorry. Jane does and walks back out and just stares at Elena blankly. Then dive bombs her and wrestles the marker from her and tries to attack Elena's face. And they're both laughing and wrestling and Jane manages to draw a line across Elena's face and Elena is shrieking and Jane's like "that's what you get". And they collapse together laughing then kiss and Jane's like "you do realize this is war?"

I don't know if this will cheer you up but I had a Jalena dream last night (I have no idea why but it was kinda cute so I thought I'd share)... Elena made cookies but didn't know Jane was allergic to cinnamon, Jane ate one not knowing there was cinnamon in them. Cue Jane calmly asking what was in them and then Elena frantically administrating Jane's epipen and calling an ambulance when they realize the misunderstanding. And then later in the hospital, Elena tearfully tries to apologize and Jane's like "It's okay, you didn't know, I still love you." And Elena's like *surprised Pikachu face* "You love me?" because they haven't said that to each other yet and Jane gets embarrassed and tries to pass it off as being loopy from the drugs but she can't deny it either and that was how they both said I love you for the first time. (No idea how my brain came up with that dream 😂. Poor Jane.)

Group cuddles, Sabina always falls asleep first (it takes a lot of energy to be so silly and reckless all the time), Jane and Elena talk, sometimes Sabina isn’t there and the two still cuddle and talk.

One of these times they casually stare at each other and lean in to kiss. Shy smiles, more touches, they kiss all night.

They don’t talk about it, but whenever they’re alone they kiss.

One night all three are curled up in bed and Sabina is listening to them awkwardly saying goodnight and Sabina finally says “just kiss each other goodnight! Jeez.” So they laugh and do.

Elena asks Sabina how she knew. Sabina says they’re obvious and she just knows them.

 Sabina is okay with it all. She loves her team and if this makes them happy she’s all for it. Though sometimes she gets more needy and whiny and tells them not to make her feel left out. They promise she never will be and they love her. Sabina’s happy.

When Jane heard her girlfriend utter those words, "I'm sick," all she could feel was the need to take care of Elena until she was her bright, excited self again. She pulled Elena closer and lifted a hand to her girlfriend's forehead to feel how warm it was, and Jane murmured a soft, "Go lay down, El."

Elena frowned and responded with a soft whine of, "But we're supposed to go to the park with Sabina."

Jane squeezed her hand and gave her a sympathetic smile then said, "I'll lay with you."

That brought a grin to Elena's lips and she said, "Why would I ever give up spending the day in bed with you and having you care for me?"

A ticket to anywhere

The loud, beautiful crescendo of a symphony played through the damp, smelly garage. In the center bay was an old Honda that had seen better days and seemed to get one bandaid on top of another to patch it up. Under the hood, Jane Kano was hard at work diagnosing the problem. Her long, silky dark hair was knotted up in a bun on the back of her head. She wore an oil, grease, and everything else stained jumpsuit over her clothes, and she had smudges of grease on her face. She was concentrating, focused, and barely knew that the world existed around her. The music kept her in her zone. Her love for the work kept her interest.

The car dipped slightly, and something more akin to a twitch than a smile hit the corner of Jane’s lips. She wasn’t too focused to forget that she wasn’t alone. No, the company she had was as soothing as the music dancing between her ears. Even without conversation, she felt more settled. Almost...safe. She took a deep breath and started to fiddle with the parts of the engine. She didn’t need to glance up at her girlfriend. She knew Elena was still in the same position she had been for more than an hour.

On the top of the Honda lay a smaller girl with a crooked smile and even more crooked sense of humor. She was laying on her stomach, knock-off Beats around her neck, focused on her laptop. Forever with her nose stuck in her laptop. Jane knew from her stolen glance just minutes before that Elena’s straightened hair was sticking out all over the place from where she tugged it and twirled it around her finger while she worked. It still amazed Jane how brilliant Elena was. Genius level brilliant, without exaggeration. Jane knew Elena was lost in her coding, probably working on an assignment for one of her classes. Jane truly admired how hard Elena worked on her degree while also working as many shifts as she could at the campus's main coffee shop. Though realistically, Jane knew that Elena could be working on her little...hobby. Elena was a hacker. She liked to mess with different sites just because she could, and sometimes she used her skills for some extra income. She didn’t need it, her family had enough money -- though not as much as Jane’s -- but Elena had a drive about her. She wanted to be independent and not rely on her parents. Which Jane understood more than anyone. Elena went after companies that wouldn’t miss a few hundred here or there, companies that deserved to be ripped off, and Jane didn’t have a problem with it. Especially not when Elena showered Jane with small trinkets. Cheap little gifts that just made the shorter girl think of her girlfriend. It made Jane feel like a silly schoolgirl when Elena gave her gifts, and she didn’t stop her.

This AU has existed for far too long to have not been written much. It came to me with Jane as a mechanic and Elena as a hacker/student, and is just them being in love. I was basically gonna post each chapter as it's own oneshot. Jump around in time and stuff. I still want to write it. but my brain hasn't been cooperating. I keep returning it hoping to produce more, because I love this soft, kick ass ship.

Got any head cannons for Elena surprising Jane for her birthday even though Jane isn't a fan of surprises??

This could go two ways. One, Elena realizes that Jane doesn’t like surprises so she doesn’t surprise her. Two, Elena realizes it and tries to see what little surprises she can get away with. So let’s go with the second.

By the time they’re dating, Elena has figured that Jane doesn’t like surprises. She likes knowing what’s going to happen. But Elena likes surprising the people she cares about in small ways. She debates it for awhile and tries to think how annoyed Jane would be at anything surprising.

For Jane’s first birthday of them being together, they’ve only gotten back from a job the day before and, not liking to make a big deal out of the day anyway, Jane says she just wants a quiet day at home with Elena. Elena agrees to it. They relax all day. Then Elena disappears into the bathroom for awhile and comes out all dressed up in makeup and hands Jane a garment bag. Jane looks suspicious and Elena says while Jane gets ready she’s ordering dinner, and they’re going to have a nice candlelit dinner at home together. This surprise, Jane is okay with.

On Jane’s next birthday, Elena steps it up a bit. Around lunchtime she says she’s taking Jane out, and no Jane can’t ask where. Jane is less okay with this. But Elena is smiling at her, and Jane loves her, so she agrees. They go to a nice restaurant then an evening stroll and Jane thanks Elena for the night.

The birthday after that, Elena tries again. Jane is expecting something, but she doesn’t know what. When they wake up Elena gets up and pulls their suitcases out and says they’re going away for several days. Jane asks where and Elena says she’ll find out soon. Elena packs for both of them and Jane watches carefully and tries to deduce where they’re going. Reminds Elena she doesn’t like surprises, and Elena says she’ll love this one. Jane soon realizes that they’re going to Italy and gives Elena a look. Elena just smiles. They end up in a small town in a rented house on a vineyard, and they spend their time there relaxing and enjoying great wine. But Jane says no more big surprises.

The next year they wake up and Jane sighs and asks Elena what they’re doing this year, and Elena says they’re doing nothing. Says they’re staying home all day, preferably in bed. True to her word, they spend the day at home, mostly in bed. Dinner is ordered in and eaten in bed. Jane says the day is exactly how she wanted it to be. Elena leans over and opens the drawer in the bed side table and brings out a box. Opens it to show a simple, elegant ring. Asks if Jane will take one more surprise.

The Wedding Date AU - Jalena Style

Elena has planned a trip home to Angel Grove, CA to see her twin sister, Kimberly, get married. Since she’s got some time off after working hard for months, she’s decided to drive cross country and experience the country some.

When her mom calls, asking who Elena is bringing, Elena is confused. But apparently she accidentally checked the plus one box when she RSVP’d, and her sister is demanding Elena bring a date since they’ve already planned for it. In a moment of...well, Elena, she assures her mother that she does have a date. In fact, to get her mother off her back, she admits she’s been seeing someone and they’ll be there in a few days for all the bridal party prep.

Sabina has been sent on a job on her own. Elena calls Jane to freak out, because she doesn’t really have anyone else. Jane tries to calm her down and assure her it’ll be okay to go alone, and out nowhere Elena has an idea.

They meet up and Elena asks Jane to come with her. Reminds Jane she hasn’t seen the whole country yet, that it would be fun. Jane shakes her head, says no, refuses...until Elena gives her the puppy eyes that Jane can’t resist. Reluctantly, Jane agrees, but Elena will owe her BIG TIME.

The next morning, bright and early, Elena picks Jane up in an old, beat up convertable. Jane asks if Bosley could get them something nicer, but Elena pouts and insists it’s the one she wants to take. Jane gives in.

It starts. Elena turns on some jams, and they settle in. On their way to California, where Jane will meet Elena’s whole family for the first time, attend a wedding, and pretend to be her girlfriend.

The only problem? Jane has quickly been falling for Elena and can’t bear to tell her. What will happen next?

any soft, domestic jalena headcanons?

OF COURSE.

+ elena can’t cook. she can bake, but doesn’t do it often because she loves jane’s baking so much. she likes to keep jane company while she bakes though, and tells her stories and jokes.

+ they both have their own places, jane more than one though elena doesn’t know where they all are, but they spend most of their off time together at jane’s main house. jane is a lot better at keeping a nice house than elena is and jane likes being home. sometimes sabina stays with them, but usually it’s just the two of them being cute and cuddly.

+ jane prefers reading with classical music, but elena likes catching up on her shows, and jane settles by letting elena watch her stuff while she reads. sometimes jane ends up invested in elena’s shows and asks questions the whole time to follow along. elena shushes her. jane gets offended. elena kisses her and makes it better.

+ jane makes elena coffee every morning. mostly because elena can’t figure out jane’s fancy coffeemaker, which jane picks on her for, being a genius and all.

+ elena likes to eat junk. especially when she’s watching her shows. at first she resisted so jane wouldn’t think less of her, but jane made it clear she didn’t mind, so elena let herself be herself. 

+ elena loves random dance parties and usually manages to get jane to dance with her, under the terms that elena never tell sabina. it always gets them laughing, and a laughing jane is elena’s favorite.

+ elena is messy. leaves her clothes and stuff all over the place. jane gets annoyed when she’s picking it all up, but then she looks at elena curled up on the couch and she smiles and doesn’t mind anymore.

+ jane loves anime. loves it. elena enjoys it as well, so their weekends often involve marathons. elena’s favorite is old power rangers shows. she knows all the characters and sings the theme songs under her breath. in the AUs where she’s kim’s sister, obviously this show has another name.

+ jane has strict bedtime routines that elena follows. they cuddle in bed, usually jane as the big spoon, then once they’re settled in and jane is sleepy and her facilities blurry, elena’s the big spoon and holds jane tight.

+ more often than not, sex is slow and sweet at night when they go to bed. it’s during the day, when elena stares at jane working out or training for just a little too long, that it’s heated and hot. jane’s often gotten distracted by a half naked elena launching herself at her. and who is she to say no?

+ okay look, there’s just lots of sex all over jane’s place. everywhere. every position. elena’s favorite is when she’s wrapped around jane, jane carrying her to the nearest surface. she likes how strong her girlfriend is, because she’s also so gentle. usually.

+ it’s always a bittersweet feeling when they pack up to return to base. they don’t hide what they are in front of the others, but they try not to flaunt it. there’s always a long, long kiss at the door before they leave and go back to the real world.
