The journey has just begun ...

But no, really, I feel like every time I make progress on cleaning out my sewing room, I've only started another step of the process.

Mid process on the following things:

Fabric I have sorted all of the major lengths of lace and fabric into the Kallax bins now, but I haven't even started on my many mid-project scrap piles. Do I want to? Do I want to just throw them out? Are they worth keeping anymore?! Many of the projects in question are finished, and the scraps were kept "in case I made a mistake" or similar, so should I just yeet them? Or keep them as stuffing for the bum roll I still haven't gotten around to making (lol). This also begs the question, what do I do with my interfacing and other yardage-based notions? I don't have room left in the Kallax for that; some of them are too large for bins, anyway. Should I put them on some kind of rack???

Yarn I moved the yarn I organised from the actual Kallax bins to the cheap Kallax-knock-off bins and shelves that I got from Kmart first, which are not nearly as sturdy or large. I still need to finish sorting a bag of donated yarn (gifted by a relo) to decide if it's worth using. Two Kallax bins managed to fill three and a half of the Kmart bins, whoops. I thought I might balance the (lightweight) yarn bins with some heavier books and such at the bottom levels, and use the top for ironing tools (water, cleaning stuff, etc.) in a little basket, but now I'm wondering if I should devote those four remaining cubbies to something else, like sewing notions?

Figures I have put all "small" figures (S.H. Figuarts, Nendoroids, Figuarts Minis, Pardoll/Parfom, Cu-Poche, etc.) onto the shelves in the new cabinets that they're going to be displayed in. I have not figured out how to store the "large" figures (Figmas, Play Arts Kai, Polynian, etc.) much less display their asses, so they're just scattered around in boxes or stacked on top of the Kallax right now. Most of the issue is their boxes being so much more irregularly shaped and so much larger than the "small" figures, which still have some variety, but are much easier to deal with. Aghh. Contemplating moving things around more to see if I can fit my vintage Polly Pockets or Littlest Pet Shops in somewhere, but don't even get me started on where I'm going to put the Monster High stuff.

My March 2023 haul is finally here. Not going to say s/h wasn't yet another wallet wounder this time, but I am not too disappointed since I was able to get Byakuya's Masterlise prize figure. A bit sad, I won't be able to check if he's perfect, but maybe if I am feeling like splurging on S/H from Japan once again, I might get a second one to unbox one. I haven't even been able to get a second one of Sasuke's nor the other eye-verson, yet I already want another Byakuya -- although, to be fair, I don't own that many Byakuya figures (mostly because there's not that many!). DX I am also super happy that I finally got my Parfom R Kaworu, he kept getting delayed (for longer than a year, if memory serves!), he turned out super adorable, so I am quite happy I was able to get him finally! As well as the Taito Spooky Deformed young NieR -- I was afraid I wasn’t going to be able to get at least one of those, but I was lucky to get at least one! (:

Asuka Langely - Evangelion - Parfom

As I bought Rei, I had to go for Asuka too, so here she is, having a good pout:

As with the Rei figure, her hair is very nicely painted, and the face works well. The plugsuit also feels well-designed from the front, to work with the articulation.

Left:

Here I’m actually hiding the stripes with her hand :P. Again, these can look kind of odd when you articulate her. From the sides, her suit is pretty much the same as Rei’s, only red.

Right:

Here are the stripes.... not lining up at all. So I’m not likely to pose these figures side-on. Her hair looks nice though, and the hair seam would be more hidden if I gave her fringe a bit of a shove ¬¬.

One issue I’ve had with this figure is with one of her legs - iirc it is the right one - when I first opened her, it was loose in the box, and feels a bit prone to popping off. Not sure if this is common with Asuka, or a bit of a defect with mine. Should be fine when she’s standing still, but during posing, it’ll probably pop off again.

Back:

Her hair flows nicely back here, and the shading really adds to it. Paint all looks good back here, though you can’t see much of her.

Doll:

I loved the fact that she came with such an iconic accessory - and the painting is all very nicely done. Only issue is getting her to hold it - there are no pegs or anything, so you need to either balance it or tack it to her hands, if you want her to be holding it, like on the box art. Currently I ended up putting this in storage, but I may choose to tack it to her at some point, so I can have her holding it and not get pissed off when I knock it out of her hands for the nth time.

Faces and hands:

Same as Rei, she has two other faceplaces and two spare sets of hands. I almost feel as if there should be some kind of “wacky” set of hands that should come with Asuka, but that’s not to be found here.

Overall, she’s a solid figure. I think what’s there is well-designed and thought out, but some more hands wouldn’t have gone amiss. Again, it’ll come down to what the price tag is - looking at Mandarake, the price tag on these has gone down a bit, and I think I agree with this assessment.
