Can some critter please explain physical shifting to me, please? I'm not unsupportive if it, I just want to understand the experience better, because I'm a very logic oriented person and I want to understand what is truly ment by "physical shifting" as logically truly shifting your body parts couldn't just happen, so I wanna know what the expiration is/what it's like so I can better understand it. I personally experience phantom shifts all the time, but I'd equate it more to the feeling of when you wear a bag for too long and you take it off but you can still feel it on your body. I wouldn't describe it as my body actually physically shifting. So please, enlighten me :3

i’ve had phantom tail(s) for a LONGG while now its like every day i don’t even question it anymore my tails always waggin

this morning i tried to nudge a tiny teddy bear off of a box using my phantom muzzle. instead, my face hit the bear and the box in a very undignified way. i honestly don’t know what i was expecting

Big sup to therian/otherkin/alterhuman folk with phantom ear shifts - a community outsider here asking questions if anyone fancies divulging.

When you talk about moving your ears, are you moving your ears and your phantom ears move in a more exaggerated fashion over the top/in a different position dependent on anatomy, or are your ears still and your phantom ears do the moving?

Asking because I can move my ears a bit independently and defo perk them up in relevant situations too, just wondering if you're also ear wigglers and we're having similar experiences (plus your phantom ears obvs) or it's all phantom (I'm presuming a mix?).

As much as I love this kintype and I have others that have way worse 'side effects' [for a lack of better words], Michael's phantom shifts are awful. Having his large hands sort of overlay??? Ontop of my small hands??? It feels so weird and uncomfortable and all I can do is curl my hands up and shake them until the feeling goes away. Typically my phantom limbs don't bother me and are sometimes enjoyable, but for whatever reason these specific ones aren't like that

My phantom shifts!!

•My tail and wings (things in red) are pretty much perma shifts, I feel them all the time!

•I don’t feel My tail (In orange) as much as my wings and ears, but it’s there a lot. I’ve gotten a habit of having a mini panic attack every time I sit down because I think I’m gonna sit on my tail

•My claws and teeth (in yellow) are triggered by certain things and I love them :33

•when I get paw shifts (in blue) I tend to forget how to hold things tbh (as Ive said in a past post I made while having a paw shift)

•My face fur shifts (in blue) feel.. weird- but they happen very rarely

Might make a more in depth post of my phantom shifts in the future (as they are my most common shift). Original version undercut, and ty to @the-selfmade-gods and @paxthepuppycat for finding the template for me :3

orange (most of the time): fox ears, sometimes cat ears, fox/cat tail (idk they feel similar i usually cant tell)

yellow (sometimes): like a vocal type thing?, paws on my hands

teal (rarely): some kind of wing or something on my back (i have no clue what they are or what they look like), paws on my feet

I’ve listened to this a few times now as a sleepytime calmdown thing and m a n, it makes me feel things.

It’s very strange to need to move from a previously comfy position because the shape of my legs has changed, but you know what? 10/10 would meditate again.

having a very neat-feeling mashup shift right now — the base(?) is a maned wolf (anthro), but i’m also feeling dragon limbs. on my legs, starting around my knees and going down, there’s scales instead of fur and the shape is of my dragon legs. i have the wings, tail, and spines of my dragon kintype. my arms, right after the shoulders, are fluctuating between maned wolf and dragon front legs.

the places where it transitions from one species’ limb to the other is annoying, because there’s not any actual transition. the phantom limbs kinda overlap in way that wouldn’t make sense physically, so i have to actively decide where the transition feels most natural instead of just automatically knowing. overall though, i like it. it’s not at all the most frustrating mashup shift i’ve had.
