Prayer for Beginners

I spoke to a priest who had known me during my youth ministry years (I was a volunteer and participant of youth groups for teenagers). I met with him to please my parents. I explained how the main reason I fell away was because my faith was not my own: How can I follow rules and regulations that affect people close to me (and society at large) from a God I have never had a personal relationship with. As a young teenager I could spend up to 2-3 hours at the Tabernacle praying in meditation and word. I would pray daily and spontaneously. I built my own altar and prayed prayers that took 15 minutes a day and one year to complete.

 I was dedicated. I pursued God. He did not show up.

  He recommended I read a book called "Prayer for Beginners". Apparently I didn't talk to God well enough. I'll read it and post my thoughts here.
