WEC, 1000 MIGLIA DI SEBRING: ANTONIO FUOCO REGALA LA PRIMA POLE POSITION DELL'ERA HYPERCAR A FERRARI È stato il nostro Antonio Fuoco, alfiere della Ferrari AF-Corse 499P #50, a conquistare la prima pole position della stagione 2023 del FIA World Endurance Championship. Con uno straordinario crono in 1:45.067 il nativo di Cariati è riuscito ad imporsi sulle due Toyota GR010-Hybrid, rispettivamente la #8 condotta da Brendon Hartley e la #7 guidata da Kamui Kobayashi in seconda e terza piazza. Quarta posizione per l'altra 499P, la numero 51 condotta da Alessandro Pier Guidi, a più di otto decimi di distacco dalla gemella Hypercar di Maranello. Quinta la Cadillac #5, seguita dalle due Porsche Penske e dalle due Peugeot. A chiudere lo schieramento delle Hypercar, come prevedibile, la Glickenhaus e la Floyd Vanwall. In LMP2 la prima pole della stagione 2023 è andata alla Oreca 07 motorizzata Gibson numero 23 del team United Autosports, il quale è riuscito ad imporsi sulle vetture rivali grazie al giro dell'esperto Oliver Jarvis in 1:49.974. Seconda piazza di categoria per il prototipo del team Jota #28 (condotto da Pietro Fittipaldi) a circa un decimo, terza per il team WRT #31 a poco meno di due decimi, che ha visto al volante nella sessione di qualifiche Robin Frijns. Soltanto ottave e decime di classe le LMP2 di Prema Racing; deludente qualifica per il prototipo del rientrante team Alpine Elf, dodicesimo.
