#Rfactor 2 reviews mods#
The only downside is that the simulator is currently only compatible with PC Windows devices leaving console and Mac users out in the cold. In addition to that, there’s a massive modding community for rFactor 2 so you’ll never run out of things to do. The simulator is extremely realistic and offers a lot of flexibility when it comes to modding. Yes, if you’re into sim racing and wanted to get as close to the real thing as possible then rFactor 2 is definitely worth it. Some of them come at an extra cost but the vast majority of them are free.
#Rfactor 2 reviews mods#
In addition to that, there is a large modding community for rFactor 2 and you can find skins, tracks and mods for just about anything you want. The simulator is currently sold for $31.99 on the Steam platform and you could be up and running in minutes.
#Rfactor 2 reviews install#
If you’re on Mac you could install the Windows OS on a virtual machine but that’s beyond the scope of this review.Ĭonsole users will have to wait for the developers to release a console version which might never come. The simulator is currently only compatible with PC Windows devices which means that any console or Mac users are out of luck.
#Rfactor 2 reviews full#
In case you were wondering, here’s the full list of rFactor2 cars and tracks available as of 2022. I think it would be great if all of the tracks were laser scanned as that would add even more realism to the simulator though I can understand how expensive it would be to do so. You can check this forum post here to see exactly which track is and isn’t in the laser-scanned list.īathurst, Barcelona and Spa-Francorchamps are laser scanned which is really good to know most sim racers. Not all of the tracks are laser scanned but some of the major ones are. What’s more, the developers keep adding new features to the simulator all the time in order to improve its realism. You can really feel the car and tires reacting to the track and the slightest changes in your driving style will be noticeable. That means the simulator has to be pretty damn good and realistic in order to attract their attention.Īnd that’s what I like about rFactor 2, the realism.
#Rfactor 2 reviews driver#
Think about it, professional racing teams are using rFactor 2 for driver training and race car development. In addition to that, you have a lot of options to customize your experience to make it as realistic as possible. The graphics and sounds in rFactor are amazing and really give you the feeling of being in a real race car. The software runs on the Unreal Engine which is known for its great graphics and allows for a lot of flexibility when it comes to modding. The simulator was first released for Windows in late 2012 and was then available to purchase on Steam from March 2013. In addition to that, the software offers a great physics and suspension model that simulates any type of multi-wheeled vehicle of any era. Similar to its predecessor, rFactor, the software is used by professional racing teams for driver training and race car development. RFactor 2 is a sim racing software created by Image Space Incorporated and since 2016 developed by Studio 397. Having said that, let’s now start with our in-depth review of rFactor 2! What is rFactor 2? It also had the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix track which allowed me to get really good at it and to then deliver two Top 5 finishes at the Grand Prix. I’ve started using it a very long time ago to practice for my Formula 3 seasons back in 20. In this review, I’ll try to be as objective as possible and give you an idea of what to expect from rFactor 2. RFactor 2 is actually a great simulator, but there are some things you should be aware of before you make the switch. And perhaps you might be now considering switching from ACC or iRacing to give it a try.

#Rfactor 2 cars mod#
Maybe I'll do a report on how poorly it runs, the sounds aren't that great and what a major pain it has turned into for me. I can't get rFactor 2 running without major hiccups. My dual NVidia 580 GTX, AMD 6 Core system thats clocked to 3.5 ghz with 16 gigs of ram on my triple monitors handles Assetto and iRacing without a problem and without major tinkering.
#Rfactor 2 cars mod#
I'm driving the IFS mod by Mak Corp at Silverstone. I have been tinkering with rFactor 2 the last two days with bad results. Due to it's sheer driving prowess, it blows my mind how RFactor 2 has been dismissed for 2 years by InsideSimRacing, regardless of it's un-finished/constantly developing state, but I'm glad to hear that that's apparently going to be changing soonįYI Spinnelli. You may need to lower graphics settings from "Maxed out" if you're trying to run triple screens (especially with the non-stretching/non-distorting "multi-view" option enabled) and/or trying to run high FPS (the sense of control and handling really feel much better at over 60 FPS, even if you only have a 60 Hz monitor I'd shoot for 90-120 fps).Īnyways just wanted to write this as it doesn't seem RFactor 2 gets enough love around here, and the pure driving, if not the best in the sim-industry (I think overall it is), is at the very worst still 3rd best. Note though, for some reason the game still performs much better on Nvidia cards than the equivalent AMD card. It clearly shows tons of potential buried in the graphics engine, waiting to slowly get extracted more and more. and some of those shots show some real beauty and "power" of the RFactor 2 graphics engine, especially with regards to lighting and shadows. If you have ever checked the un-edited screenshots thread in the official ISI / RFactor 2 forum there are a few amazing screenshots of the game (usually from a user called "Tosch") that have been taken in a different mode, outside the main game, called "Developer Mode" where you can edit all sorts of graphics options & settings, custom HDR profiles, etc. Graphics, options, stability, optimization, etc etc keep getting improved as well. Then you also have "real-road" and weather on top of all that. It never gets stale due to the deep dynamics and rawness of the physics. Tiny details, and really tiny differences in your steering/throttle/braking inputs mean that even after literally 3 or 400 laps of hot-lapping the same car on the same track, every lap, every corner, is still a fresh and dynamic experience. The vehicle behavior seems the most deep, raw and complex to me. All 3 have their strong and weak/weaker points with regards to vehicle behavior modeling, but OVERALL when I look at which aspects of the vehicle behavior suffers compared to other sims, and which aspects flourish compared to others, I always end up personally choosing RFactor 2 as my general overall favorite, especially when it comes to actual racecar vehicle dynamics. That is just my opinion though, and don't get me wrong I love aspects of Iracing and Assetto Corsa physics as well. The pure driving in RFactor 2 is sublime, I think overall the best in the industry. This gets you one of the best, if not the best pure driving experiences in all of sim-racing. Cough up $85 one time and you're set for life. RFactor 2 costs a 1 time $85 payment for an unlimited lifetime license, that's it. I also have some experience in an F1600, and had a 2 day test in a 450-ish HP prototype-style racecar. I have driven in anger over 600 laps of various types F2000s. First I want to say that while my real-life racing experience is nothing compared to a "real" race-car driver, it is probably still a decent amount relatively speaking.

#RFACTOR 2 NASCAR 2019 HOW TO#
In a wave of several varieties of Ford Mustang, the Camaro was able to go above and beyond and be the top muscle car in GT3. We’re not exactly sure why there was a trend of trying to get muscle cars into GT3 racing around 2010, but it’s definitely something that happened. The biggest thing going for this car compared to its GT3 counterparts is the central weight distribution helping you prioritise turn-in and keep the car planed through long, sweeping corners. It looks stunning, it sounds stunning, and it’s got brilliant performance to boot. The Callaway Corvette has long been a fan-favourite in the GT3 class. BMW M8 GTEĪ car famed for its size, the M8 is still surprisingly nimble! Even tearing up the likes of Daytona and Sebring in 2021, it’s still proving more than a match for the fresh-out-the-box entries that Corvette and Ferrari are throwing at it.
#RFACTOR 2 NASCAR 2019 HOW TO#
If you’re looking to get up to speed, make sure to check out our guide on how to master the BMW M6. When you get it dialled in, however, it is as fast as anything else out there. It’s not as well-loved as its GT3 counterparts, and part of that is because of the challenge that it is to drive. We at Coach Dave Academy feel a bit sorry for the BMW M6. A strong, confident front-end means that this car loves the kerbs and is arguably the most stable GT3 out there in the wet. The latest from Dovenby Hall, this car has taken several iconic wins including at Bathurst at the most recent time of asking in 2020. Under the M-Sport banner, it won at high-speed tracks such as Silverstone and Paul Ricard in the real world proving its worth at a variety of speeds. Bentley Continental GT3 2017īentley’s first collaboration with the legendary M-Sport outfit that has supplied Ford with its rallying cars for 25 years, the Continental is a classic Grand Tourer that’s been stripped out and readied for racing. Routinely tearing up GT3 classes around the world, it builds on the 2015-spec car to give you more and more grip. The latest V10 entrant into GT3 racing, Audi’s 2018-spec R8 is a successful car on-track and in the sales book. Behind that screaming V10 engine you’re still able to find plenty of grip as well as a weight distribution that helps you glide through those pesky mid-speed corners. Not as up-to-date as its more recent counterpart, the 2015-spec Audi R8 isn’t exactly a slouch either. Aston’s GTE offering is the same V8 Vantage as the GT3 but turned up to 11. Aston Martin Vantage GTE 2019Ī car that’s at the pinnacle of GTE racing, a collaboration with the legendary Prodrive that has yielded great success around the world. Definitely as much of a fan favourite here as it is in Assetto Corsa Competizione. This thing loves kerbs, and it has a sense of agility that you usually won’t find in other front-engine GT3 cars. GT Racers Aston Martin Vantage GT3 2019Īston’s latest GT3 offering, the Vantage uses the V8 under the bonnet to the best of its ability. Much like with our Ultimate rFactor 2 Track List, this article will explore the wealth of racing royalty available on the platform thanks to the variety of development teams that have made rFactor 2 the title it is today. As a sim racing title, rFactor 2 has an incredible variety of cars from motorsport’s past and present in a variety of disciplines.

unfinished farming game rant
getting progressively more and more annoyed at my failure to find a farming game with the autistic attention to detail of something like Factorio and its modding scene
farming seems to fall under one of two paths: the first one is the rural version of racing's rFactor 2 or, being kind to it, Gran Turismo; a gorgeous to look at virtual world that prides itself on realism, and at its best it will have the design and immerse you in that virtual world completely; simulation at its finest
unfortunately, it tends to be just a bunch of brands that make it selling point (real supercars you can't buy! tractors from every licensed brand under the sun!) to an audience devoted to jacking off to leather seats
the other path is the one which is Harvest Moon Again; it's functionally adapting the mechanics from Tokimeki Memorial and every game that followed in its wake into a small, consistent, repeatable series of actions that don't require a ton of complexity; the game is one part small, routine minigames, one part visual novel
both of these are fine experiences - Stardew Valley is lovely and I 100% believe the soothing effect of a Farming Simulator, but still not quite what I look for, and the autism of the Factorio modding scene has yet to divert towards biology
and while Strange Loop Games' Eco has the sufficient level of autism as far as ecosystem management, but it's also a life simulator; due to the game not having any PvP and the inability of a player to specialize in everything, it turns into the kind of game that veers into the same problems of MMORPGs; I'm sure I'd love this game as an option, but I feel it presents kind of danger for me as EVE does
the fundamental gist of the game that I want here is pretty much some degree of supply chain management (the gist of games like the already aforementioned Factorio) with thematics and mechanics centered around farming and the required infrastructure; whether that's wells, pumps and waterworks, the housing for processing whatever you harvest, or just the area of harvesting itself, we can have something in that vein
I mean what's the capstone cycle of early game Factorio, when the game slams headfirst into a difficulty spike wall? acquire copper, iron and coal through electric mining; the coal is then split into two paths, which are feeding the giant boilers that fuel everything and being used as the fuel for the first level processing of copper ore and iron ore; which then are processed in a number of ways and eventually turn into the two main research beakers (automation and logistics) to progress on the tech tree, and keeping a surplus for whatever other things you need (mostly the tower defense aspect)
this sort of gameplay loop can 100% be brought to a farm system; accounting for hydration, for light, for fertilization, the harvesting itself could be automated, etc
with these games, expansion is largely done via tech tree, but we could borrow a leaf from a completely different game - Prison Architect - which structures its short term missions as grants and uses that to fuel its own tech tree and limit to expansion - to push it in that direction
IDK, just spitballing here (for now!)

Games like F1 23 getting better but other titles are more realistic Norris | Gaming
Lando Norris says the official Formula 1 game series has made its impression of driving the cars more realistic. However he said gamers who want an authentic impression of what racing cars are like to drive should try other titles. “They are still very, very different, like an actual simulator to a game,” Norris explained. “Even the new game, it’s honestly nothing like it, it’s so far from it.” Driving a car in the official F1 game is much smoother than it is in real life, said Norris. “The games are so easy and nice, there’s no bumps, kerbs you can just drive over. Generally on the game they’re [lapping] like five seconds quicker than we ever do on the track, which makes no sense.” F1 23, the latest edition of the official Formula 1 series, has been released today. Norris published a video of him driving the new Las Vegas Strip Circuit on it earlier this week. “I’ve not driven the new one that much, I just did Vegas on it the other day, which was cool. I think it’s still getting there.” Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free In 2020 Norris entered IndyCar’s iRacing-based official online series. He said simulations like this offer a more realistic impression of what driving a racing car is like. Review: F1 23 – Do new additions and return of story mode make it a must-buy? “You have games and you have actual simulation programmes and there’s a big difference between these two,” he said. “One, it’s a game at the end of the day, it’s meant to just make you happy and you’re meant to enjoy it. It’s not often that you enjoy driving on the simulator because it’s a very different experience. You’re actually driving it rather than just playing.” The official F1 game is “getting better, little bit by little bit,” said Norris. “But if you actually look at the programs which are designed to be a simulation like iRacing, rFactor, they’re way better than the F1 game because [that’s] a game, it’s not designed to be exactly like Formula 1, I think.” IndyCar ended its collaboration with iRacing at the start of this year. It agreed a deal for Motorsport Games to produce an officially-licensed title, which has been delayed until next year.
