Day 30 - Whatever (favourite brother)
Tumblr media
This is absolutely no surprise but my favourite Mael is *drumroll* RUSSELL!
I know it's seen as more cool to like Ron and the majority of people on here are Ronheads (not a bad thing), but my love for Russell is just...
Who knew a guy in his 70s could be so relatable? He's so similar to me in many ways and isn't that a great reason for choosing your favourite member?!
I love how he switches from being kinda shy to being the most bubbly guy. That's so me in so many ways haha. He's also such a curious and creative guy and he isn't afraid to be himself (also my life goal)
He's also one of the most handsome guys I've ever seen too. So that combo of him being totally the most relatable person ever and also the most handsome guy I've ever seen is really funny.
He is literally Mr sunshine (as @pineapplefulfillseveryneed calls him).

Most of these should be fairly obvious to anyone who follows me. And of course Wendip is on here a couple of times.

I was walking back from the hospital, to the Kilns, & the pathway’s route led through the church yard of Holy Trinity Church heading to the quarry in Oxford.
And there was a wrought iron gate there till this day, leading into that church yard. Totally alone, grieving in a grey featureless world.
I lifted the wrought iron latch, of that gate, & stepped out of our shadowlands into real life. And there was this very powerful presence, there in the church.
Compassion, grieving, sharing my pain.
I was not someone who as a child had a great deal of knowledge about God or religious things. I was a bit of rebel, even at 10 years old.
And I’d never prayed in my life, yet I knew who He was.
I knew that Jesus was there in that church yard with me, suffering the same pain that I was suffering...
And He made it plain to me, I didn’t hear any audible words, but He simply said: “If you can’t live without your mother, I can fix it.”
And I went into the church, in those days it wasn’t kept locked. Unfortunately, it has to be today. And I knelt at the altar rail. There was no one in the church, except me, & this presence..
I prayed with every fiber of my being, that my mother be allowed to live. Because I didn’t think I could get by without her.
And instantly I was told that it was okay, it was fixed, I could go home & stop worrying. And I walked out of that church, at peace.
Walked out of the church yard & suddenly I was back in the shadowlands. As I closed the gate behind me, I was back in this unreal estate—in which we lived.
And I went home at peace & my mother went into remission, starting more or less that day.
Interviewer: They had a very happy time for 3 years. [Almost 4 I think] Interviewer: Wonderful?
“Absolutely, the best 4 years of either of their lives.”
But at the end of those four years, more or less the same thing happened. I was brought home from school to say goodbye to my mother—the cancer had reemerged. As everyone knew it must eventually.
And um, this time I was 14 of course; & walking back from the church, not expecting—oh no the hospital, I beg your pardon, not from the church.
Walking back from the hospital, not expecting it in the least. I lifted the latch from the gate & stepped back into that super-real vibrant alive existence. And again He was there; & He said, “If you can’t live without your mother, it can be done again. But in all honesty, in search within myself, I knew by that time I had friends & I had a step-father whom I had grown to love & I had an uncle whom I loved (Warny).
Um I had people around me, & I was a 14 year old boy. I was much more independent when I was 10 years old. In all honesty I knew that I could live without my mother.
So although it sounds very unoriginal, the only way to think of to say was: “Thy will be done.”
And I walked out that church yard back into the shadowy lands of this world. She died about a week after that, so yes, it was strange experience. It didn’t make me a Christian!
Interviewer: Yes, but you were are of a presence & another world.
Oh I knew that Jesus was there. I knew who Jesus was. I knew who God was. I always believed in Jesus & God from those moments on. But that doesn’t make you a Christian because satan himself believes in God.
Interviewer: What would you say Douglas was the main thing CS Lewis taught you, during those years when he was raising you?
There are 2 things, two main things that Jack taught me, & he taught me, not by preaching or teaching, but by example.
One was that everything, when it comes across in life, should be examined—not simply accepted. That includes anything to do with religion, anything to do with personal problems—of other ppl or oneself. He taught me to look deeper into the millstone than simply the surface. >> Taught me to look into things rather at things. His book reflect his attitude—that you should look deeply into things, mere Christianity is the result of looking deeply into Christianity—not simply at it from outside.
The second thing of course is: how to live a Christian life. He taught by example, in that sense also. He was a man, who lived his Christianity. He didn’t just talk about it. He didn’t say all the right words, & go through all the right ritualistic actions. He simply lived a Christlike life.
Interviewer: Was he hard to live with, when he was writing?
Not at all. The opposite.
Jack was someone who would accept interruptions, every 10 minutes if necessary, while he was working very hard at a book or something—without the slightest degree of irritation.
He was able to believe & behave, as if he believed what he did: That our own personal work was no where as important as the interruptions to it.
>> Interruptions are the real substance of God’s job for us
Interviewer: When eventually he died, was there some talk about a candle?
Someone placed a lit candle on the coffin, it was taken off as they carried the coffin out to the graveyard, & it stood on tresses beside the grave, the candle was placed back on the coffin—as Father Onerhead said his prayers & so on.
And the interesting thing about that is several witnesses saw this candle, & saw that it didn’t move. It was a dead still day, there wasn’t a breath of wind moving in the cemetery. And yet, Ronhead himself never saw it.
When I wrote about it in my book, Ronhead read it & wrote to me saying there never, nobody puts a candle on a coffin. And I went to some of the other people, who had been there (yes they remembered it).
But Ronhead didn’t, it was one of those things. Whether it was really there or the Lord simply put it there for us to look at—I just don’t know.

In order for Wendip to happen, one of these ships never can: JanTom, Mabcifica, Lumity, Ronhead, & Ash/Misty
Oh, uhmm tough one. I love all of these ships. Let's go with I guess Ronhead. It's the one that is furthest from happening.

Valentine ask payback: 3 13 21 23 29
3. What is the rarest rare pair (that you ship)?
Ronhead (Veronica & Jughead) from Archie Comics
13. Name a ship that deserved more content.
Crimson & Ennui from Redonculous Race
21. Favourite thing you’ve ever created for a ship?
If ‘The Curse’ comes out the way I’m planning that will be it. If not then I have to go with my Wendip date in Gravity Heroes, in the middle of a near blizzard the two dorks are out trying to have a date.
23. Have you ever started shipping a ship because of the fans?
Jantom. I didn’t care for Tom in the beginning but seeing the art of them together sold me. And then add in @mrevaunit42’s Nova vs the Forces of Adolescence helped.
29. What is the ship you ignore 98% of canon for?
I guess McAbby from NCIS. It was great when it actually happened for a couple episodes, but then nothing.
