Rough Patch HeadcannonđŸ„đŸ’› (Little Duck AU)
Pairing: Dad! Chris Evans x Momma Evans (Female Reader)
Summary: things aren’t always as they seem in the Evans household, and currently, it’s tougher than rough
Warnings: angst, mental health, arguments, fluff towards end:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back on bedrest once again after you got home from your appointment with Chris, Arlie was down for a nap so it made it easier for you to hide away in your shared bedroom, not wanting to talk to anyone or talk about anything
You didn’t think this pregnancy would be easy, especially with baby boy growing everyday and getting bigger and bigger, but the aches, the constant pain you were in mixed with a very active toddler were draining you more than you’d ever admit
It started 3 weeks ago when you noticed you felt down, you’d experienced this feeling before after giving birth to Arlie, the dark cloud swimming around over top of you, the weight on your shoulders, that on top of the unbalanced hormones with baby boy, were cause for disaster
It also wasn’t fair that you’d been so snappy with Chris recently, he never took offence to it, never got angry, he knew you were in loads of pain, he just wished he could take it from you
“Okay
please be good so I can wash my face baby..”
The plead seemed to work momentarily before he pushed roughly on your ribcage, a frustrated groan leaving your lips before angrily tossing your face products to the side
You couldn’t help the sudden sobs that escaped as you tried hard to hold it together and not have a total breakdown, Chris shoving the door open in worry a few seconds later
“Hey, hey, whoa honey
what’s going on?”
“I can’t t-take this pain anymore, all it is and a-all it has been is p-painful and I c-can’t even do anything a-anymore!”
Chris almost didn’t know what to say to try and console you, you didn’t stay in the bathroom long enough for him to hug you, opting to move back and get into bed
“What can I do to help you in this moment sweet girl?”
You shrugged and it was like all resolve left you
“Nothing. I don’t want anything, there’s nothing that can help, I’m giving up, I want to just be in pain in bed, alone and god I don’t fucking know!”
The minute you heard a soft whimper and a quiet “momma
?” your heart stopped and you cursed quietly to yourself, looking over to see Arlie, mr.duck clutched in her arms as her bottom lip wobbled, her eyes glassy
“Hi my love
come in”
“Why you yelling momma
? don’t like it.”
She walked close enough for you to help her on the bed, her little arm covering your bump and she rested against you
“I’m sorry duck, I didn’t mean to scare you, Momma just isn’t feeling well that’s all
”
Chris watched quietly sitting at your feet, his hand squeezing your ankle gently
“I s’owwy you not feeling well momma
I can help you feel better!”
A tired smile showed on your face as you rubbed a hand over her head, the frustration leaving your body only to be replaced with that sinking feeling of sadness and dread
“I bet you could my love..”
Chris could see the sudden drop your mood, leaning over to tickle Arlie’s little feet, a giggle filling the room
“Come on baby girl, let’s go make some of Momma’s favourite snacks, maybe do some art for her?”
Arlie sat up nodding her head before kissing your head softly
“Bye momma! Be back soon!!”
She ran off towards the hallway, Chris couldn’t help the laugh he let out watching her excitement at the idea of helping cheer her momma up, truth be told he wanted to help his wife in any way he could
“I’m sorry i’m being such a horrible wife and mom..I don’t know how you still stand to be around me”
It was instantaneous how his hands reached to hold your face, your eyes shifting to meet his
“I love you, I love you so much I would do anything for you, you know that
right?”
After you nodded he continued
“You are the best mother to Arlie and our little guy, and you are the best wife a man could ever ask for. I know things have been so incredibly hard, and you’re in a lot of pain, so much so that I wish we could swap places because seeing you hurting like this and not knowing how to help you is killing me..”
You hadn’t even realized you’d started crying until he swiped his thumb across your cheeks
“I-I’ve been so horrible to you
”
“You’ve been frustrated, in pain and going through a really rough time, I haven’t taken any of that to heart because I know that isn’t you
what I do want is for us to work together to help you get comfortable, and to help this beautiful brain of yours feel better..”
Chris moved to pull you into his side, his lips pressing a few kisses to your temple
“DADDY ‘HUWWY UP I NEED HELP!!”
You let out a soft laugh, the first one in a few weeks and Chris joined you, leaning down to press a kiss to your lips
“I missed that sound, we’re gonna take care of you and figure this out I promise you, now I believe little miss and I have some work to do to get our favourite girl feeling better”
“I love you Chris
”
He stopped at the door, turning to send you a smile
“I love you more sweet girl”
It was nowhere near over, you were nowhere near that happy and bubbly woman you’d once been, and that was okay. For the first time in 3 weeks you felt a little less down, the weigh on your shoulders eased the slightest amount. Although it still hurt and you were still struggling, knowing you had your little girl and your ever so sweet husband in your corner, made things a tiny bit lighter
and you’d take itđŸ€

Wesley’s First Word (little duck au)
pairing: chris evans x momma evans x wesley scott
summary: well Wes has finally said his first word, I wonder what it could be?
warnings: none :)
a/n: wesley is finally starting to blabber more sounds and he can finally say a word, so why not blurb itđŸ„°
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wesley was now about 8 1/2 months old and getting more and more animated by the second, he was so curious and such a funny little character, getting to see his personality as he grew something you and Chris were loving getting to experience.
Arlie was out with Nana Lisa for the day, they were having a spa day which also gave you and Chris a chance to relax and spend some extra time with Wes for a few hours. You let Chris sleep in and got Wes up making some pancakes and cutting up some fruit for him to eat, a smile on his face as he watched you move about the kitchen
“my handsome boy, is that good?”
He babbled back some nonsense and you smiled leaning down to press some kisses across his face
“oh yeah? wow, well tell me how you really feel this morning buddy”
“dada!!”
In an instant you froze eyes widening as your brain tried to decipher if you’d just heard Wes say his first word or not
“Wes what did you say baby? Did you say dada?”
“dada! dada!”
“oh my god..”
You smiled letting out a little noise of excitement before pressing kisses all across his face yet again, Wesley letting out giggles
“Oh my love, daddy’s gonna be so happy!!”
“Why’s that?”
Chris had walked into the kitchen, hair dishevelled, eyes tired yet loving as he came over to press a kiss to your lips
“Morning honey”
“Morning baby, I was just saying you’d be so happy because-”
Before you could tell Chris anything Wesley beat you to it
“Dada, dada!!”
You watched as Chris froze before smiling, you could see his eyes glass over a little just as you’d expected because when Arlie said her first words, albeit them being “mama” he cried for 45 minutes over it
“Yeah buddy that’s me!”
Wesley clapped his hands chanting ‘dada’ over and over as Chris picked him up out of his chair, pressing a kiss to his cheeks before holding him to his chest
“He said his first words baby
”
You came over to rest your head on his shoulder admiring your two favourite boys
“He did my love, guess we know who his favourite person is”
That earned a big laugh from Chris as he shook his head pressing a kiss to your temple
“Well i’ll take it, just remember he’ll wake me up 6 times a night now chanting dada as opposed to Arlie chanting mama now”
Nodding you chuckled reaching a finger out to swipe a bit of hair back out of Wes’s face, a yawn escaping his lips, you knew it was almost time for his mid morning nap but you weren’t ready to let go of Chris and your little boy just yet. Wesley had said his first word and though Chris had gotten a bit emotional you knew after he put Wes down for a nap, he’d be coming to find you to really let it out, and you’d be there for him, as long as he needed.
Chris really was the definition of worlds best father.

Welcome Home Arlie Mae (Little Duck au)
pairing: chris evans x wife reader (momma e)
summary: you’ve finally been cleared to bring arlie mae home, and you and chris couldn’t be happier
warnings: slight mention of post partum struggles, but mostly just very sweet goodness
a/n: i’ve been wanting to write this for a while and i hope you guys enjoy this💜
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today was the day you and Chris had been waiting for since you’d found out you were expecting your first child together. After 30 hours in labour followed by four days in the hospital, you were finally bringing home your little baby girl Arlie Mae Evans. She was quite tiny weighing in at five pounds three ounces, part of the reason you’d spent a few extra days in the maternity ward. Despite your reassurance to Chris telling him he could go home to sleep in your own bed, he declined, stating he was much happier here with his girls. Lisa and your mom had been amazing, getting the house ready for your arrival, meals prepped and ready so you wouldn’t have to worry about cooking, Lisa had even taken Dodger back to her house for a few days to let you three get settled and accommodated to your new lives with a little baby.
Arlie truly lit up Chris’s entire life from the moment she was born, to watching her breastfeed for the first time, and now as he watched you tuck her gently into her car seat, a soft beige blanket over her as it was the beginning of April, and it was still a bit cold out. You were definitely still in some pain, and you knew it would be a few months before you were feeling back to normal and like yourself, truth be told you were willing to go through all the highs and lows because of how special your little girl was to you already.
“Alright, you ready to go momma?”
Smiling you nodded, reaching over to grab the baby and hospital bag you’d packed, Chris was quick to interject
“I’ve got it honey”
You watched as he slung it over his shoulder before picking Arlie up with his free hand and reaching for your hand with his other
“Thank you my love”
“No need to be thanking me y/n, I should be thanking you for bringing our girl into our lives”
You felt your cheeks flush at the sentiment before walking with Chris towards the exit and to find your car in the parking lot. Arlie stayed fast asleep the whole time, you had read that newborns tend to sleep a lot and eat a lot, so you figured she’d stay sleeping until you arrived home, or at least you hoped.
Once you found your SUV, Chris made quick work of putting the bags in the front passenger seat, handing you the car seat with Arlie for a few moments before taking her from you and making sure she was clicked safely into the base that sat tethered in the backseat. Chris had made sure to order the top of the line for everything when it came to Arlie, even getting it professionally installed so he knew she would be extra safe.
“I can’t believe we’re going home as a family of three now
”
Chris looked back and sent a smile your way before he got out of the back to press a kiss to your forehead
“Me either, it still feels like a dream to me”
Nodding in agreement he helped you into the backseat so you could take your place beside Arlie, he helped buckle you in too before closing the door and getting into the car. Glancing back once more at the two of you in the backseat, he started the car and took off towards home, only this time like you said, you were going home as a family of three.
-
The house smelt like spring, fresh flowers placed neatly around your space, some being gifts from friends and family, you never failed to feel spoiled with all the love and warmth both of your families provided for each other. For the first few months the very gorgeous nursery you and Chris spent months on would remain empty until Arlie was old enough to sleep on her own. She’d sleep in the bassinet you’d bought to sit right next to your side of the bed, making it easier for feedings and keeping an eye on her.
As soon as you’d gotten home Chris wanted to show her around, which let you get settled on the couch, leaning back into the soft cushions which after laying in a stiff hospital mattress, felt like lounging on a cloud
“Here is the kitchen, where daddy and momma are gonna make you lots of yummy food and snacks
you can have whatever you want princess”
Listening to Chris as he walked around with Arlie tucked into his arms bringing a smile to your face, you could hear him taking her throughout your home to show her around, even if she was too little to really know what was going on at all
“This is the living room, we have lots of comfy spots for you baby, and oh look, there’s momma over there, she’s so beautiful”
Arlie squirmed slightly and let out a little noise, Chris smiling down at her and you swore to yourself you’d never seen him more in his element than he was right now
“You excited to see momma?”
She made a little whimper before slowly waking up and you knew she was getting hungry
“I think she’s excited to see my boobs babe...”
Chris laughed shaking his head before bringing her over to you, waiting until your shirt was pulled up enough before giving Arlie to you, who was quick to latch on and start eating. She had no problems latching or eating from the moment she was born, but you knew you’d probably opt to bottle feed and breastfeed to give Chris an option to feed her, as well as any family or friends that would come over.
You smoothed a finger along her head gently watching as she ate quietly, you couldn’t believe how perfect she was, and how 9 months of waiting could bring you so much joy. It was no secret that both you and Chris were extremely happy in this moment, you weren’t ignoring your doctors notes about postpartum depression and other postpartum hormone drops, Chris was more than prepared to step in and help when needed, and you knew the signs to look out for. For now, though, in this moment you just wanted to stay right where you were, with your little girl, and with your favourite man in the entire world, you had all you could ever want and more right in front of you, and it was a memory you were forever going to cherish.
"I love you both so much, thank you for bringing Arlie into our family"
Leaning your head onto his shoulder, careful not to disturb the newborn as she ate you peered up at him, eyes filled with nothing but adoration
"Thank you for supporting us every step of the way, we're very lucky to have you baby, we love you so much"
A kiss being pressed to your lips was enough to seal the moment you two shared, and knowing there would be many more where that came from, you hoped these little milestones and Arlie memories would stay within your mind for as long as you both were around.

Hands Off My Momma! (Little Duck AUđŸ„đŸ’›)
Pairing: dad! Chris Evans x Momma Evans (Female Reader)
Summary: Everyone at the Middlesex County DA’s office knows Matthew, and I mean everyone, and sadly so do you. He will not leave you alone, no matter what you say do, so what happens when Chris and your daughter stop by your office for lunch? Let’s just say Little Duck is ready to fight for her Momma, whatever it takes
Warnings: slight angst? Matthew is a butthead, protective Arlie and Chris
A/N: This took me way to long to get out so I apologize, I am going to try and get a head start on some of the other long requests, so be on the lookout for those! This is short and bad but happy reading!!
Word Count: 834
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The office was unusually quiet today, though you wouldn’t complain considering you’d just finished up your last major case for the next few weeks, so you’d take quiet over the insanity it usually was. The only thing that wasn’t so quiet were the knocks that hit your door, part of you already knew who it was, but you wanted to see if ignoring him would get him to leave
“There’s my favourite lawyer in the building!”
You rolled your eyes, four seconds away from filing a workplace harassment claim against him. Who’s him you might ask, well that would be Matthew Wheeler, one of the assistant district attorneys that worked at your building
“What can I do for you Mr.Wheeler?”
He took a seat in front of you, yet your eyes remained on your computer screen, going through a few last minute filings
“Wow, so formal, I thought we were on a more personal level at this point”
“Nope.”
He hummed drumming his fingers on your desk which by the sixth time made you look at him, your expression one of annoyance
“Ah there she is, so I was thinking, me and you, lunch?”
You smiled eyes lighting up as you watched him get his hopes up
“Oh, wow really?”
“Yeah really, want to go?”
Putting a hand over your heart, you stared him dead in the eyes, it was honestly quite comical how easily gullible this man was
“No. I’m married, now go away.”
He scoffed crossing his arms as you once again waved your engagement and wedding band in his face
“So? That doesn’t deter me.”
“Well, it should.”
You got up grabbing the keys to the copy room since you had some papers waiting for you at the printers, when you walked around your desk, Matthew grabbed your hand tightly in his making you stop
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
“Just one chance, married or not, one chance, one lunch please.”
You scoffed and before you could say anything you heard little feet running down the hall and all of a sudden Arlie was sending little punches to Matthew’s leg
“Hands off my momma!!”
You almost wanted to laugh but quickly picked her up shushing her softly as her little fists clenched, her eyes narrowed at the stranger that was bothering her mom
“I was going to say the same thing, but my daughter beat me to it.”
Matthew rolled his eyes going to leave and Chris stopped him
“You ever bother my wife again, I don’t care what form, I’ll ruin your life.”
Arlie crossed her arms watching him leave before uttering
“Stupid meanie head.”
“Arlie Mae
”
She looked at you and smiled innocently
“Hi momma!”
After laughing you covered her face in kisses before sending a smile to Chris before he pressed his lips to yours
“My knights in shining armour, what are you two doing here?”
“Wanna go for lunch momma?”
You thought about it for a moment
“You know I am kind of hungry, and you two are my favourite lunch dates
just give me a second to pack up”
You put Arlie down on the ground before pulling Chris in for a hug
“Thank you for that, I’m going to talk to Michelle about it tomorrow and get him fired”
“Good, I’m glad, you’re welcome honey”
You packed up some files to take home, stuffing your laptop and any other small knick knacks you needed in your bag, sending a note to your assistant to grab the paperwork at the printers, thankfully it wasn’t super important
“Momma you ‘weady to go?”
“I am little love, where are we going to eat?”
Arlie took one of your hands while Chris took the other and together you walked out of the building and down to the car, Arlie humming the whole time as she thought about what she was hungry for. Right as you finished buckling her into her car seat she clapped
“Sushi and stringy noodles!”
You chuckled, knowing she was talking about the small sushi and yakisoba restaurant you three loved, and if you were being honest, sushi sounded super good right now
“That sounds perfect my love”
You got into the passenger side of the car, and Chris got in soon after, reaching to take your hand when you were both settled, the car starting up
“Thank you for the lunch surprise, I love you”
He smiled, bringing your hand up to his lips to press a kiss to your palm
“I love you, and I love surprising you, even if I have to threaten someone to do it”
Your laughter filled the car as you began to drive off towards downtown Boston, you were so grateful for this little family of yours, and especially to your spitfire of a little girl. Arlie was just like her daddy in that sense, they’d always protect you no matter what, and just because she was a toddler, didn’t mean she didn’t pack a mean punch.

ʚ no warnings
ʚ well i’ve listened and heard what you’ve been missing, so here’s a little check in with our little duck
i’m working on getting some more motivation to write for this au so all i ask is for a bit of patience but i see you all missing it ;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arlie Mae is now 6 years old and absolutely LOVING kindergarten, she’s making so many friends, helping her teachers and starting to gain some more independence!
Wesley is a year old now, he’s walking, running and of course saying a few words here and there, though he hasn’t started talking as much as they were hoping for his age so it’s something Momma and Chris are keeping an eye on!
Momma E is working from home part time as a lawyer still, she’s taking on cases every so often and working from home has made it a lot easier to manage the kids and now that Chris is home full time they have lots of time to spend together!
They now run a full time animal rescue and sanctuary at their home! They have a small group of staff who work at the barn and have some who stay in the apartment they have above the barn for overnight watch! Though they themselves are very hands on as well!
They have another dog now too, Dodger is still as energetic as ever, and now they have a cocker spaniel named Lucy, who Arlie absolutely adores!
Arlie horseback rides now during the week, she is OBSESSED with horses and loves her riding lessons coming home and saying “momma it was so fun!” “i jumped!” “we should get a pony!” and she’s been begging for her own pony, which is something you and Chris have been talking about recently.
Wesley goes to daycare, the same as Arlie three times a week to get some exposure to being around other kids and to get used to what it will be like eventually be like to go to school! Though he isn’t talking a bunch yet he is super expressive and adores painting just like his sister!
Wesley also loves anything with his dad, Chris takes him out for little father and son dates and he just loves it. He would rather spend all day everyday with his father than doing anything else!
All in all the family has been doing super well and loving the settled down life, there have been talks of maybe expanding their family but for now they’re enjoying the quietness of the country, and themselves.

Momma & Arlie’s Day Out (little duck au)
pairing: momma evans x arlie mae
summary: you’re in need of a few things before you go back to work, so why not take your little girl who also happens to be the best shopper ever<3
warnings: none very cute :)
a/n: slowly getting back on my little duck kick, sorry i’ve been neglecting it, i just haven’t felt like writing for chris much these days, which is unfortunate because i can’t change my username LOL rip
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After lots of conversations between you and your husband Chris you’d finally decided to slowly get back into working or at least advising for the time being. You’d stepped down from being a district attorney and opened up your own firm, using your home as your office it was nice to stay close to the kids and of course to Chris. You weren’t totally ready to be fully immersed back into the office and the legal world just yet, truth be told you didn’t think you ever would be, but for now you could do some part time advising and contract work.
That’s where you found yourself this morning looking at your closet and making donate piles of things you didn’t wear anymore or just didn’t fit into. Arlie was home from daycare today after they’d emailed you about a nasty bug going around, so you figured what better than to take your baby girl shopping with you. Arlie had always had a keen eye for fashion and was the best little shopping partner, so you knew it would be fun for both of you.
“Arlie honey?”
Looking through her playroom and then her bedroom you couldn’t find her, she was quite the hide and seek player so you knew there could be a plethora of spots she could be in
“Well don’t you look beautiful”
Smiling you spotted Chris leaning against the kitchen island, his eyes dancing around your figure
“Why thank you handsome”
Chris came over pressing a kiss to your lips
“Arlie is watching Bluey at the moment if you’re looking for her”
“I am! I’m taking her shopping with me today”
He laughed knowing the two of you could do some serious damage when together
“Don’t give me that look! I need my baby to help me pick out a few things!”
“Mhm
”
Smacking his chest lightly you laughed making your way towards the living room, a smile on your face when Arlie looked your way
“Hi momma!”
“Hi my baby, I have a question for you”
She pressed pause on the remote so she could look up at you
“I need some help picking out some new clothes for work, can you come with me?”
She clapped her hands letting out a noise of excitement
“Yes momma! I can help you shop!! I love shoppin’ momma!”
“I know you do baby, just like me huh?”
She nodded before getting up and going over to her toy corner to grab her little purse and her shoes that rested by the back door before meeting you in the front hallway
“Daddy I’m going shoppin’ with momma! See!”
Chris nodded crouching down to press a kiss to her cheek, fixing her laces on her shoes
“You and momma are gonna go crazy aren’t you?”
Arlie shrugged before crossing her arms and sending Chris an innocent looking smile
“Momma always says if you don’t go crazy, you not shoppin’ right”
You couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled in your throat, a hand over your mouth as Chris raised an eyebrow in your direction
“That’s right my girl, so let’s shop till we drop!”
“Bye bye daddy, love you!”
Chris shook his head
“Love you girls too, be safe”
-
When you and Arlie shopped, you could really go for hours, she had helped you pick out some new suits, all colourful because in Arlie’s eyes “momma needs to be a rainbow.” So it was needless to say that Chris was not surprised about the amount of bags you two had brought back, Arlie having her own, and of course you’d picked up a few things for Wesley and Chris. Anytime you and Arlie hit the mall up you usually ended up buying a few things for everyone
“Daddy we got so much!!”
“I can see that baby, did you have fun with momma?”
“Mhm, gonna go put my bags away!”
Chris laughed watching her run towards her room, bags hitting her little legs and the walls as she went, his eyes then moving back to you
“Did you have a good day honey?”
“We did! I picked up a few things, tried not to go too crazy..”
It wasn’t as if money was a problem for your family, you and Chris both had good careers that brought in the money and the two of you were more than grateful to live a very comfortable life, but you still every so often got worried that Chris would get uncomfortable with your’s and Arlie’s shopping days.
“Baby, you can go as crazy as you’d like, Arlie too, you both are my world, Wesley too so if you want to go shopping and lose your mind in the mall go for it honey”
Smiling you leaned up to place a kiss on his lips
“I love you so much
so much that I may have gotten you a few little things..”
“I don’t doubt you did baby, I love you more”
You took a few more minutes of quiet with Chris before Arlie was yelling to show her dad everything she’d gotten, and Wesley had now woken up and was babbling through the baby monitor. You wouldn’t trade this life for anything, and the more time you spent with your babies and Chris, the more you thought about maybe adding one more addition to the family
but that would be a discussion for another day

Happy International Women’s Day Blurb (Little Duck au🐣)
pairing: Chris Evans x Female Reader (Momma Evans)
summary: after a rough couple of days, you’re still not out of the woods, but that doesn’t stop Chris from spoiling you and little Arlie for International Women’s Day
warnings: none, mentions of pain, but just fluffy goodness
a/n: here is Women’s Day blurb 2/2! These were kinda fun to write, and I do have three full length fic ideas that will be coming out either today or within the week so keep an eye out for those! sending lots of love đŸ«¶đŸ»
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Giggles, baby noises and laughter had lulled you out of your sleep around 8:30 in the morning. You made note of the pestering pain that could still be felt throughout your body, thankfully it didn’t seem to be as bad as it was last night, but you were still slow to get up
Gently putting your feet on the hardwood, you slid your slippers on and grabbed the corner of your bed frame to life yourself up and out from the comforts of your blankets, a pained groan escaping you
Chris had told you to yell or text him to help when you needed it, but being the stubborn woman you were, you wanted to do everything yourself, though when you reached the top of the stairs, you felt too weak to attempt it yourself
“Honey?”
Almost instantly Chris appeared at the bottom of the stairs, Arlie following
“Momma! Come on Momma! Daddy has pwesents!!!”
Chris laughed shaking his head
“It’s supposed to be a surprise duck..”
“Oh
s’upise, it’s a s’upise Momma!”
You laughed, Arlie was horrible at keeping secrets and surprises, but it was the cutest thing ever, when something didn’t really need to be kept hidden of course
“Well i’d love to come see the surprise baby, i’ll meet you in the living room okay?”
Arlie nodded before running off another laugh escaping you, though you were trying not to laugh too much due to chest pain, it would never be possible in your household
Chris was already making his way up the stairs to you, a smile on his face despite the worry in his eyes
“You should have called, I would have helped you out of bed baby..”
“You already have to help with so much
I just needed to do it this morning”
He nodded, not offering a rebuttal because he’d be the same if the roles were reversed, and man did he wish they were
“How are you feeling? Any pain still?”
“Somewhat okay I suppose, still cramping in my stomach area, my chest is really bothering me amongst other things
slow and steady I guess”
Chris hummed in response before helping you get to the bottom of the stairs, offering to help you over to the couch but not before stopping to see Lisa and Wesley who were having a little sink bath
“Hi my handsome boy, oh look at you! You having a bath with Nana? hmm?”
Wesley offered a gummy smile your way, his hands splashing, more than happy to see his mom as you leaned down to press a few kisses to his little cheeks
“How are you this morning sweetheart?”
You sighed shrugging in Lisa’s direction
“Still not great but not horrible, I can’t thank you enough for all your help”
“Nonsense, I love being here and seeing my grand babies as much as I can, besides someone’s gotta make sure Chris holds it together”
You nodded laughing once again, wincing slightly at the tightness in your sternum, Arlie’s yelling didn’t allow you to think about it too much, as you were off to the living room, taking a spot next to her
“Look Momma, Daddy got us flowers!!!”
You widened your eyes at her excitement, another smile tugging at your lips, Chris coming over and sitting next to you
“Happy International Women’s Day to two of my favourite women”
Leaning over you pressed a kiss to his lips thanking him, Arlie squealing in excitement at her flowers and of course a few other little gifts Chris had got her
“I also have one more thing for you..”
He pulled a small box out from his sweater pocket and handed it to you, eager to see you open a gift he new not only would make you happy, but had more meaning now than it did before
Sliding off the top were two Volvo keys nestled gently amongst some little pieces of cut up tissue paper
“Chris
.”
“I know, I know it’s extravagant and a big gift, but I know how much you loved that car, how it kept you and Arlie safe
and Volvo reached out to me wanting to help
so I wanted to replace your SUV that was written off after the accident, now I know our family will always be safe with you driving one of these again”
Chris was right, you’d never had a better car than your XC90, safety wise it was the best car for your family, but knowing Chris had gone out to replace your car and the company itself wanted to help, was enough to bring tears to your eyes
“Thank you so much honey, you have no idea what this means to me
I-I don’t even have the words right now, Arlie, Wes and I are so lucky to have you
”
Arlie noticing your tears came over to give you a hug, making sure to be extra gentle, and you held her to you
“Love you Daddy, love you Momma”
Hugs shared all around you didn’t know where to start in thanking Chris for this gift, but he would go to the ends of the earth to make sure you and his family were safe and taken care of, no matter what was thrown your wayđŸ€

Not A Typical Weekend
.(Little Duck au)
pairing: Chris Evans x Female Reader (Momma Evans)
summary: it’s back to the hospital you go, only this time, it may not be the news you’re both looking for

warnings: angst, mentions of anxiety, some tears, very panicky Arlie, comfort of course <;3
a/n: i was feeling angsty so here’s this
i promise i won’t torture this family anymore, I guess this may be a two parter?? considering I kinda left the ending open...? also I hate my writing again so maybe thats why I kinda cut it that way LOL
word count: 952
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were hoping the pain after your accident would become more bearable after 5 days at home, but when you were still dealing with cramping, and now stabbing pains in your chest, Chris wouldn’t take no for an answer when it came time to go back to the hospital. Poor Arlie had been beside herself all morning as she watched you wince and moan as the waves of pain passed through you. Lisa was just as worried, but tried to keep Arlie calm and away from a potential panic attack
“Momma no go pwease no go!”
You frowned, opening your arms for her so you could hold her for a few moments
“My love, I’ll be okay, I promise you
momma’s gotta get fixed up so I can be all better again”
“Don’t wanna lose momma
”
Your heart was breaking at the tears that lined her eyes, slowly slipping out every few seconds
“Arlie Mae, you’re not going to lose me, I’ll be home before you know it, I need you to help Nana with your brother, he’s going to need his big sister while Daddy and I are gone”
She sniffled
“Okay momma
I-I try to help Nana”
“Thank you baby, I know you’re scared, but I’ll be home before you know it, so I need you to eb a big brave girl for me”
You kissed her cheek upon hearing Chris call your name from the door, standing slowly to kiss Wesley and hug Lisa, you gave everyone one last goodbye before grabbing an overnight bag, and some snacks. It was hard to tell how long you’d be at the hospital until you arrived and got checked out, so overpacking may come in handy, even if you usually avoided it.
“Ready to go honey?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be I suppose
I just hope it’s nothing serious”
Chris placed a kiss on your temple after helping you get settled into the front seat of the car
“I hope so too, we’ll just have to wait and see now
”
You nodded folding your hands into your lap, you’d be lying to yourself if you said you weren’t freaking out a little bit. The prospect of it being horrible news compared to slightly okay news, now seeming to become more real, the closer to the hospital you got. Knowing Chris would be panicking just as much as you figured Arlie still may be at home, you remained quiet, and optimistic that you would be in and out of there in no time.
-
“Mrs. Evans, I am glad you decided to come back in to see us, albeit not the best circumstances, better to be safe than sorry right?”
You were laying in a hospital bed, a private room once again at Mass Gen, you’d had numerous counts of blood taken, a few scans, x-rays, an entire workup because Chris nor you wanted to leave without being absolutely sure you were one hundred percent okay to go back home
“So, we have taken a look at all the tests and scans we completed, the pain your experiencing is two things, one of them which is a chip in your collarbone, that has come loose and will require surgery in order to have that bone stabilized again”
Your hand reached for Chris’s looking for some comfort, he was quick to take it, holding it tightly in his, eyes trained on the doctor who had what appeared to be more bad news
“You also have a collapsed lung, which worries me most because of the duration it seems to have been collapsed for, that is going to require immediate surgery, so we are going to take you down within the hour
any questions I can answer?”
When Chris started speaking with him you zoned out, your mind racing through every endless possibility that could potentially happen while you are on the operating table. It felt like your brain was spinning out of control, your eyes now glossed over, you were freaking out, but Chris could see it, so he promptly held your face in his hands
“Hey, hey
baby breathe, you gotta breathe for me beautiful
”
“I-I don’t want to d-die, what if-what if”
Chris shook his head
“No, we aren’t going to do that. You’re not going anywhere y/n, we have the best doctors looking after you, they’re going to help you so we can go home to the kids, so we can live the rest of our lives together, you are going to be okay”
He rested his forehead against yours as you closed your eyes, attempting to get your breathing back under control, and after a few minutes you managed to slow your heart rate again, Chris placed a few kisses to your cheeks before settling on your lips just as the pre op team came in
“I’ll be here the whole time, I promise, I love you so much”
“I love you too Chris, don’t ever forget that”
Chris wanted to say more, he felt like he needed you, but once that team of nurses had rushed into the room to prep you for two back-to-back surgeries, he knew he needed to step back and let them get to work. You were in the best care, and the best hands possible here but that wasn’t enough to keep the anxious thoughts and worries away. Even as he sat down in the uncomfortable chair by the window to call home, that sinking feeling never left him, seeing Arlie and Wesley helped to distract his mind. He truthfully didn’t know how long you’d been in the OR, but he hoped to god it wouldn’t be long so he could have you back in his arms, because life without his better half wasn’t something he was willing to settle for nor think about.

Bahama Momma Headcannon 🌊🌮 (Little Duck AU🐣)
pairing: Chris Evans x Wife Reader (Momma Evans)
summary: after a few rough weeks, Chris figured it was time to get his family out of Boston and into the sunshine and warm air
warnings: slight angst, body insecurity, mentions of post partum depression, sweet Chris and very fluffy family content
a/n: here’s a little little duck headcannon i wanted to get out, i hope you guys enjoy it! i’ve been feeling crap about my writing but i know how much you all love this auđŸ«¶đŸ»
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly if you knew the warm air would help alleviate the heavy feeling you’d been struggling with for the past few weeks, you would have asked for a vacation sooner
The warm sand underneath your feet, the sun shining down, you had little baby Wesley in your arms, he seemed happy to be in the Bahamas too, even if he was too little to say so
“Momma look at my floaties!!!”
Arlie came running towards you, a strawberry bathing suit on with some pink arm floaties, so she and Chris could go into the ocean, something she’d been so excited for since you’d arrived 45 minutes earlier
“Wow baby, you look so perfect! You excited to go swim?”
“Mhm! Daddy and me are gonna get shells too!!”
You smiled pressing a kiss to her forehead, her little dimples showing which made you smile more, she was almost the spitting imagine of her daddy
You opted to stay on the lounge chairs under the shade of a few umbrella’s you didn’t want to bring Wes into the ocean yet, and truth be told you didn’t want to be out in a bathing suit either.
You’d kept your coverup on, not feeling happy in your body at all, fat in places you forgot could get extra skin, stretch marks, you just felt gross
“Duck, can you wait in the sand for a minute?”
Chris looked to Arlie who nodded, immediately going for a bucket and a few sand toys that sat near you, he then came over and sat in front of you
“How’re you feeling?”
You shrugged
“I’m okay, happy to be here
think I needed the sun”
He chuckled
“Yeah, I’m glad we did this too, you sure you’re being honest with me”
Looking at him he could tell you weren’t letting him fully in, which you knew would hurt him a bit, but you sighed looking away
“You know you can talk to me about anything honey, I promise you
”
“I know, I just
”
Wesley yawned on the little pillow he was situated on, but thankfully stayed asleep, Chris smiling down at him
“I just don’t want you to look at me”
“What? What do you mean..?”
Checking on Arlie quickly you tried not to get too emotional
“It’s just that, i’ve gained so much weight, and my stretch marks are worse that they were with Arlie
I forgot I got so ugly after having kids
it’s embarrassing”
In an instant his hands framed your face, mindful of the little man laying in between you both
“I know i’ll never experience the pain and feelings you go through when it comes to being pregnant, and being a new mom again, but one thing I do know, is you are the most beautiful woman in the world to me, and you always will be”
You couldn’t help the tears that started to line your eyes
“And before you try to give me any objections, I love you and I love your body with stretch marks, without them, your body is evidence of the two beautiful little babies you brought into our family, I know your brain is your biggest enemy right now, and I’m going to continue to help in anyway I can, but you are everything to me Y/N
everything.”
“I love you..”
Chris knew you wouldn’t know what to say or how to put words together the best right now, but those three words meant the world to him and you knew it
He pressed a few kisses on your face finally meeting your lips for a sweet and love filled kiss
“Now, I’m going to take our crazy girl into the ocean, if you need anything, just holler”
You smiled nodding your head, one more kiss being pressed to your lips before he got up
“Last one to the water is a rotten egg!”
Arlie jumped up and let out an excited squeal
“You gonna lose daddy!!”
Laughing as the two of them took off towards the ocean, you couldn’t help the sudden lightness that filled you, you knew it would still be a long road to healing and working through the thoughts you were having, but being here in the Bahama’s with the sun shining down on you, it started to become just a bit easier 🌊

Momma's Day Off (Little Duck AUđŸ„)
Pairing: Chris Evans x Wife Reader (Momma Evans)
Summary: after working hard on cooking and cleaning for the superbowl party, on top of taking care of the kiddo’s, Chris decided Momma deserved a much-needed day off
Warnings: non, just fluffy goodness
a/n: sorry this took so long to get up, I’ve been running around all day getting assignments done before my week off next week because I will be travelling, so I am not entirely sure how much writing I’ll get done! I’ve been feeling crappy about my writing and it’s been pushing me off because I feel like I can’t write at all so I don’t know, this is also somewhat short
word count: 547
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You crawled into bed last night around midnight after cleaning up the leftover food and doing some organizing downstairs while Chris and his friends still hung around, you were more than happy to get under the covers. Wesley had gone down easily, and you had been up throughout the night to feed him, which was normal for you, Chris had gotten into bed next to you sometime after one thirty in the morning though you don’t remember much being half asleep. What you were not prepared for was no alarm going off and no crying baby beside you when you woke up at ten thirty this morning, you couldn’t help the slight panic that spread in your chest. Tossing on a pair of sweatpants and a shirt of Chris’s that was at the edge of the bed, you knew logically there was nothing to be worried about, but it had been so long since the last time you slept in, it freaked you out
“Well good morning beautiful”
Your eyes looked around the room, Arlie colouring in her art room and Wesley was sleeping on his cloud pillow on the couch where Chris could see him
“You alright honey?”
Nodding you turned to him
“Yeah, sorry
good morning, I slept in...”
“You did, I wanted you to sleep in, you spent all day cooking and watching the kids, you needed some extra sleep”
Smiling you wrapped your arms around his torso pulling him in for a hug
“Thank you baby”
“Also, you might want to go pack a small bag because in about ten minutes your mom will be here to pick you up to take you out for a spa day”
You pulled back your eyes wide as he chuckled smiling down at you
“What? But the kids-”
“Will be hanging out with me all day, it’s momma’s day off today, go enjoy yourself, buy some nice things and relax, I’ve got it handled here, besides Arlie, Wes and I have some important business we have to do”
“Yeah Momma! No Momma business!!”
You laughed looking at Arlie who was smiling, a paintbrush in one hand, the other cocked on her hip
“Well okay then, I guess I will leave you all to it!”
Turning back to face Chris once more you pressed a kiss to his lips
“Thank you for this my love”
“Of course, you go enjoy the day today”
He couldn’t help the smile on his face as you went off to kiss Wesley’s forehead a few times, moving to see Arlie next, pulling her in for a hug and pressing a couple kisses to her cheeks. This would be the first time you would be without Wesley and although you were nervous, the idea of spending the day at the spa and shopping with your mom was enough to get you excited and looking forward to having a day for yourself. Arlie was also excited practically shoving you out the door whispering about some secret project she needed to start with Wes and Chris, you couldn’t wait to see what the three of them came up with when you got home later in the day. For now, you were more than excited to get a massage and let loose for a few hours.

FaceTime Greetings (Little Duck AU🐣)
Pairing: Momma Evans (Female Reader) x Dad! Chris Evans (ft. Arlie)
Summary: Staying in the hospital one more night wouldn’t be a bad thing if you’re little girl would have been allowed to visit, but with her still being sick, and Wesley being only 11 hours old, you couldn’t risk him getting sick too, but that doesn’t mean you don’t feel horrible
Warnings: a lil bit of angst and sadness, but nothing major
a/n: just a little fic with the Evans family new addition Wesley! Thank you again for the continued support and love, I appreciate you guys more than you know, this one is a little short but I hope you’ll still enjoy
Word Count: 558
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wesley lay asleep on your chest, you had finally had a shower and got into a change of clothes which felt more than amazing, and ten times better that the uncomfortable hospital gown. You couldn’t stop staring at him, you could already see the resemblance between him, and Chris and it warmed your heart, speaking of Chris he had been the most amazing husband once again throughout the birth and process of bringing Wes into the world. You weren’t thrilled about staying in the hospital overnight because you missed your Arlie girl, but you knew with her still fighting off this infection, waiting until tomorrow when she wouldn’t be contagious anymore. Chris had just gotten back from picking up some takeout when his phone went off, a smile spreading across your face knowing it was your facetime date with Arlie who was more than eager to meet her baby brother
“Hi my angel”
Chris smiled, the screen facing him
“Hi daddy!! Miss you daddy
you coming home soon?”
“I miss you more duck, we’ll be home tomorrow morning!”
She sighed and you couldn’t help but frown, you knew she was really missing you guys and wanted to meet Wes so bad. Chris brought the phone over to you and sat next to you on the bed, the minute Arlie saw your face she gasped excitedly
“Momma!!!”
“Hi my sweet baby!”
You smiled watching her get comfy on the couch, the telltale theme song of the show Bluey filling in the background
“Momma misses you so much Arlie, but we’ll be home so soon”
She hummed
“Miss you too momma, I see baby now?”
You chuckled before nodding and Chris turned the camera around so Arlie could get a full view of baby Wesley, a loud gasp followed by a soft ‘wow’ leaving your daughters lips
“He so small daddy!”
“He is baby, this is your brother Wesley”
She hummed her little face pressed right against the phone almost as if she wanted to get as close as she could
“Hi Wesley, I Arlie your sister!”
You looked to Chris when she said this, tears lining your eyes at just how sweet Arlie was despite not being able to be there with the two of you. Chris smiled, catching a tear that had fallen before placing a gentle kiss on your lips
“Oh, momma he yawned!”
Snapping out of the little moment you had with your husband you chuckled, the phone being turned back to you
“Yeah honey, he yawns a lot, when you were a baby, you used to yawn all the time, and sleep like crazy! That’s what your brother is going to do too, just like you!”
“Just like me Momma
”
Wesley was your new baby, another added joy to your lives, but Arlie was your first and always would be your baby girl, you and Chris had lots of discussions on how you were going to navigate a new baby and Arlie, ensuring both were getting equal amounts of attention. You knew deep down you didn’t have to worry about it, because Arlie was going to be so involved in Wes’s life and would be the absolute best big sister around, and you and Chris would do everything in your power to love and support both of your babies to the absolute best of your abilities.

Little Duck & Her Bicycle (Little Duck AUđŸ„đŸ’›)
Pairing: Dad! Chris Evans x Arlie Mae x Momma Evans
Summary: Nothing is sweeter than watching your husband teach his favourite girl in the world how to ride her new bicycle
Warnings: non, very fluffy sweet dad chris :)
A/N: life is beating my butt real bad rn and I’m just trying to push through and distract myself with writing and being on here but that's life I guess
Word Count: 689
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The look on Arlie’s face as the garage door opened to reveal a brand new toddler sized bicycle was one you’d take a mental snapshot to remember for the rest of your life. Her eyes lighting up as she squealed in excitement, running up to it and touching the streamers on the handles gently
“My own bike Momma!!”
You chuckled
“Your own bike my love, daddy got it just for you!”
“Thank you, daddy!”
Arlie turned and dove into Chris’s arms causing him to let out a soft laugh, holding her to his chest
“You’re welcome princess, wanna try it out?”
“Yes pwease!!”
Before getting Arlie ready, Chris set up a comfy chair in the laneway for you to sit down in, your face flushed under his gaze as he sent you a wink
“Get comfy mama, the show is about to begin”
Placing a kiss on your lips he walked back to where Arlie was waiting patiently
“I’m ‘weady daddy!”
“Alright duck, let’s get your helmet on!”
Chris reached over and took a small helmet in his hands, yellow and covered with yellow ducks, the happiness in her eyes showing him just how much she loved the helmet
“Wow! Look at the duckies!”
“All the duckies for my little duck”
Giggles filled the garage
“That’s funny daddy!”
They got her helmet figured out, the straps adjusted until it sat perfectly on her head, Chris helping her get on and sit on the seat of her bike, her little body wobbling a bit as she put her hands on the handlebars
“Okay baby so, you’re going to put your feet on the pedals and push down, that will get the bike rolling, when you want to turn use those strong arms to tilt your handlebars”
Arlie nodded her tongue poking out of her mouth in concentration before she pushed down, willing the bike to move
“I’m doing it!! Momma I’m doing it!!!”
You smiled at the thrill in her voice, pulling your phone out to film her slowly making her way out of the garage and onto the flat driveway
“You are baby! Good job, keep going!”
Of course, the bike had training wheels on it so she wouldn’t fall, but the more she started to bike around, the stronger her confidence got, and you could tell by the smile on her face, Chris walking alongside of her just in case he’d need to grab her if something happened
“You’re doing so perfect, look at you go Arlie!”
“I’m going so fast!!!”
Chris looked at you when you laughed, his heart quickening at the pure joy on your face, Arlie stopping in front of you after biking around a couple more times
“You see me momma!”
“I did my love, you did so well!”
She smiled at your praise before letting out a sigh
“I think I’m done daddy, too tired
”
Chris chuckled helping her off the bike, before pressing a kiss to her cheek, her helmet taken off seconds later
“I am so proud of you baby, did so well on your bike!”
She hummed leaning her head on his chest, it was enough to make anyone cry just at how sweet the two of them were together
“Snack time yet Momma?”
You laughed standing up slowly, the growing baby bump starting to make things a lot harder, and you still had a ways to go
“I think it could be snack time duck, maybe even some ice cream for doing so well on your bike!”
“Ice cweam?!”
You squished her little cheeks and pressed a kiss to her forehead
“All the ice cream my love”
Chris wrapped his free arm around your shoulders as the three of you walked into the house, Arlie’s chants for ice cream soon floating through the kitchen, every day you were reminded just how thankful you were to have this little family of yours, it didn’t matter if you were having a lazy Sunday, baking cookies, or watching Chris teach Arlie how to ride a bike. This was your own slice of heaven, and you hoped it wouldn’t go anywhere, anytime soon.

imagine chris comforting baby arlie having her first shot
Arlie’s First Shot Headcannon đŸ„đŸ’›
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At 2 months old Arlie was scheduled in for her first round of vaccines, they included the standard 5 vaccinations, today she’d be getting 3 and you’d come back in a week for the last 2
She was a fairly quiet baby at this point but you were an overly anxious mom and couldn’t help but bounce your leg softly while you and Chris sat in your Paediatrician Dr.Charlie, who was the absolute best
“hey, she’ll be fine honey”
Chris’s hand on your knee paused your anxious tapping and you let out a sigh, leaning into his side as he held a sleeping Arlie to his chest
“I know
I know”
He placed a kiss to your forehead and Dr. Charlie came in shortly after
“Hello Evans family, I understand little Arlie is in for her first round of shots?”
Chris nodded sending her a smile
“That would be correct, I’m not sure if her being asleep makes your job easier but”
The doctor laughed and noted it wouldn’t make a difference before going in and explaining what shots she was getting, and a little bit about them. When she was ready she lined the three needles up, making it faster for her to give Arlie her shots without taking too long
“Alright little one, let’s get these over with”
It wasn’t until the third and finally shot that Arlie woke up and began squirming, Chris quickly holding her close to his chest, her head in the crook of his neck as a cry broke out
“I know baby
shhh
it’s okay my love..”
You placed her fluffy grey blanket over her back in an attempt to comfort her, before you signed some forms, Chris swaying back and forth gently
“Little Arlie, you’re okay baby, I know it probably hurt, but Momma and I have to make sure you’re nice and protected
daddy doesn’t want anything to happy to you”
She began to quiet down, her sobs reducing to whimpers when you finished the paperwork and information for next weeks appointment. You grabbed her carrier, Chris wanting to hold onto her until you both got to the car
“There we go pretty girl, such a brave girl huh? Now we can go for a car ride home, you can sit with Momma all the way! You’re favourite thing ever!”
You smiled at Chris talking to Arlie in his baby voice, it was one of the cutest things he did with her. Chris was definitely up for dad of the year, getting her car seat hooked back up, putting Arlie down and then making sure you got into the car okay, knowing you still had some pain
“Thank you honey”
Chris smiled, leaning down to press a kiss to your lips
“You’re welcome, i’d do anything for my favourite girls”
After doing your seatbelt up, he closes the back door where you were sitting, Arlie blinking as she looked at her new surroundings, moments like these made you so excited thinking about when she’d start talking, laughing etc
“My sweet brave Arlie Mae”

Arlie Goes To The Paediatrician (Little Duck AuđŸ„đŸ’›)
Pairing: Momma Evans (Female Reader) x Arlie Mae Evans
Summary: It’s Arlie’s annual checkup with her lovely paediatrician, this time Momma’s got some questions about her speech, and Arlie’s got lots of hope she’ll get one of those rainbow-coloured lolly pops!
Warnings: no warnings, doctor talk, some medical stuff, just very precious Arlie and her caring Momma<3
A/N: I postponed this for a little while because I just didn’t feel like writing anything, but I finally had the time to sit down and get some work done so here we are!
Word Count: 831
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The doctor’s office was the one place in the world a kid would normally hate, the slight smell of hand sanitizer, the noises, other children crying or throwing tantrums, well every kid but Arlie. You don’t know when it started, and you had a pretty good feeling it had to do with Dr. Charlie, who was one of the best paediatricians you and Chris had ever met, but Arlie loved coming to the doctor. She sat quietly beside you, playing a game on her iPad, which was only ever used in situations where you would be waiting around for a while, you sifted through some quick emails, and made sure to keep Chris updated on what was going on throughout the morning
“Arlie Evans?”
You looked up and smiled at Dr. Charlie, before leaning over to Arlie
“Okay baby, let’s go see the doctor!”
“Okay momma”
Arlie handed you her tablet and you slipped it into your purse before taking her hand and going towards the exam room, Arlie of course took her usual spot up on the big purple exam table, kicking her legs gently
“Alright, how are you today miss Arlie?”
“I’m good, can I have ‘wainbow lollipop?”
Dr. Charlie laughed as she sat down on her rolling chair with her clipboard
“As soon as we’re done, you can pick any one you’d like, okay?”
She nodded and then the doctor turned to face you, getting her pen and clip board ready
“So how is everything going at home Y/N?”
You crossed one leg over the other smiling in Arlie’s direction while she played with some of the fidgets that Dr. Charlie had given her
“Everything’s been good, a little hectic with the new baby on the way, but she’s been eating well, getting lots of sleep, I guess our only concern is just her speech right now? She seems to be having a difficult time with pronouncing her R’s and certain syllables”
The doctor nodded making some notes
“Yes, that’s right, congratulations to you and your husband of course that’s very exciting!”
“Thank you, yeah we are very thrilled”
You watched her make a few notes before she paused to look at you
“As far as speech goes, it is normal for kids to sometimes have a harder time pronouncing letters or certain sounds, but seeing as she is turning 4 in April, there are a few questions I do have, it could just be that she is developing slower, she may have a slight speech impediment, but the one thing I will rule out now is the chance of her being tongue tied. We’ve had this discussion before, so that isn’t a factor in it”
You nodded feeling a bit relived it wasn’t anything that would require the potential for a surgery or procedure of any capacity
“Well, that’s certainly good to hear, is there anything we can do to kind of help her with those words or sounds?”
Dr. Charlie nodded again
“Yes, so you can just keep working with her on words she has trouble with or sounds, really take your time and help her hear how the word sounds and then get her to repeat it back! If there is ever a continued issue where it becomes more prevalent when she’s older you can look into a speech therapist, but I highly doubt she will need one!”
“Okay, that’s perfect we can definitely do that!”
Dr. Charlie then moved on to finish Arlie’s exam, checking her height, weight, listening to her heart and lungs, checking her ears and her eyes, all while she asked questions about the tools being used, she’d always been such a curious girl and you knew she definitely got that from Chris. Once everything was done, Dr. Charlie gave you a few handouts and tips for working on Arlie’s speech, as well as some baby materials for baby boy, Arlie waiting patiently to get her lollipop
“Momma I pick lollipop now pwease?”
You chuckled moving some hair out of her eyes before nodding
“Yeah baby, go pick one out”
She clapped her hands excitedly, getting down from the table and going over to pick one of the sweets from the jar, showing you proudly when she’d chosen one
“That looks perfect my love, ready to go?”
“Let’s go Momma, thank you doctor chawlie!”
Dr. Charlie smiled giving Arlie a high five before holding the door open for the two of you
“You are very welcome miss Arlie, we’ll see you guys in a few months!”
You said your goodbyes and made sure to book another appointment up at the front this time for baby number 2, you’d come in before he was born to start a file and get any notes from the paediatrician that you’d need when he arrived. Arlie was more than happy with her rainbow lollipop and couldn’t wait to show daddy all of the colours, that is if she didn’t finish it on the drive home.

Arlie was hard at work setting up her special tea table, laying out plates, cutlery mugs, she was pulling out the whole nine yards because today, her daddy would be the special guest at Arlie’s Tea House. To be completely honest neither you nor Chris could figure out where she thought of the name, but it was the cutest little concept she’d come up with recently. Her playroom was now set up, the table looking very beautiful with little flowers and sparkles intertwined between the utensils and plates. Arlie made sure to add Duckie to a seat as well as her stuffed brown bear named boobear, yes, she named him boobear, when she deemed the space perfect enough, she yelled down to Chris
“Daddy!!!! Come to tea party!!!”
Chris chuckled at the urgency in Arlie’s tone, kissing your forehead and making his way up the stairs to her party
“I’m coming up little duck!”
Arlie giggled and as he reached the top of the stairs her head poked out behind the door
“Hi daddy!”
“Hi baby, you all ready for our party?”
She nodded, smiling her famous megawatt smile
“I am, but you not ‘weady yet!”
He crouched down to her level and swiped a piece of hair out of her eyes
“Oh, I’m not?”
Chris could notice she was holding something behind her back, and he had an inkling of what it could be
“No daddy, you need to put on special hat and makeup silly!”
Never in his years of living did he ever think he would find himself staring at what everyone, his wife included says is a carbon copy of him, his baby girl, in all her excitement as she waited for her favourite man in the world to let her dress him up. He would move mountains for Arlie, and if that included a makeover from the toddler, then he’d be dammed if he ever said no
“Alright then duck, help me get all ready for tea!”
Arlie pulled him further into the room, making him sit in a chair far too small for him, but he wouldn’t complain, especially if it was Arlie putting him in it. They spent some time laughing together as she mixed blues, purples, and pinks from her kiddie eyeshadow palette, using a small brush to put it on his eyes. Chris made sure to stay extra still so she wouldn’t mess up, a smile creeping up when he noticed her tongue poking out of her mouth as she concentrated on the colour of blush she was going to use. Her little eyebrows furrowing together in thought as every step and product of makeup was applied to Chris’s face
“Okay daddy, just lips then done!”
Chris chuckled before pouting gently so she could apply what he saw was a cherry red lipstick, yeah
cherry red
“Wow Daddy!! You so pwetty now!!”
“Was I not pretty before duck?”
Arlie shook her head no and he laughed, watching as she put the makeup away neatly, turning and clasping her hands together
“Sit down fo’ tea now pwease daddy!”
Chris found his spot and Arlie got to work, setting out snacks, plastic of course, and filling their cups with water, there was absolutely nothing but joy radiating from his baby girl, and it was one of Chris’s favourite sights. They two of them were partners and crime, and when you snuck upstairs to check on them your heart warmed watching the two playing with Duck and Boobear, a slight chuckle slipping out noticing Chris’s amazing makeup job. When you snapped a quick photo both of their faces turned to you and Arlie waved
“Hi momma!!”
“Hi my love, look at how beautiful you made daddy!”
Chris narrowed his eyes playfully at you, a wink being sent back in his direction
“Daddy so pwetty now, you want some tea momma?”
After pretending to think about you agreed, taking your spot next to Chris, Arlie pouring some water in your mug
“Arlie does momma get her makeup done too?”
You smiled getting yourself ready for all her makeup and artistic talent when she laughed
“Daddy you so silly! Momma alweady’ pwetty without it!”
You couldn’t hold in the laugh that escaped as you leaned over to kiss Chris on the cheek, his eyes rolling slightly before he joined you in laughing. If there was anything about your little duck, is that she was not afraid of honesty, she’d tell you the truth no matter what, and clearly, she wasn’t shy about it.
