Epilogue
Three Months Later...
"Oh, we're going to miss you so much!"
Jolene Bryan pulled Ella into a hug, as Rick handed hers and Joe's newborn baby boy—Nathan Joel Jeffrey Seanoa—back to Joe.
The small family was about to leave their temporary home in Seattle, and move to Orlando so Joe could return to work. They'd first wanted to let Ella have time to have the baby, and allow Miracle to finish out the school year with her friends before making such a drastic move.
"We'll miss you too," Ella said softly, fighting off tears. "I don't know what I would've done without you two."
"You'd have made it," Rick told her with a smile. "You're a survivor."
Jolene reached out for baby Nathan and held him close when Joe passed him to her. "Oh my goodness! He's so precious," she exclaimed, running her hand over his downy black hair. The baby cooed softly, as she ran her finger lightly along the bridge of his little nose.
"Thank you," Ella smiled, taking his tiny hand and kissing it. "We decided to name him after the three most important men in my life. My father, my husband, and my uncle."
"He's beautiful," Jolene smiled, handing him over to Ella. "He'll be a heart-breaker when he gets older."
"Yes, just like his father," Ella teased, grinning over at Joe.
Joe laughed and kissed Ella on the mouth. "God, I hope not," he joked.
The Samoan looked the happiest and most light-hearted he'd looked in many years. His eyes were kinder, and he smiled more than ever.
At that moment, a car's engine shut off in their driveway. Miracle looked up from the porch swing she sat on to see Finn getting out of his patrol car.
"Mama, Daddy! Look! Finn's here," she cried, scrambling to her feet.
"Be careful, baby. Don't get over-excited," Ella cautioned, worry in her eyes. Her daughter seemed to be fine so far, but it still alarmed Ella when Miracle would have a sudden burst of excitement or energy.
Miracle was already hurrying toward Finn and barely heard her mother.
"Finn," she cried, smiling and wrapping her arms around his waist. "I was hoping you'd stop by so we could say goodbye to you." She looked up into his blue eyes, a touch of sadness on her face. "I'm going to miss you."
"I'll miss you too, lass," he said softly, reaching down and tucking a lock of black hair behind her ear. "You and your parents have become very good friends 'o mine. I hope we'll all get to see each other again."
Miracle nodded, swallowing past the large lump in her throat. "Me too."
"I can't stay but a minute," Finn told her. "My shift starts in about ten minutes. How about we go up to the porch so I can say goodbye to your parents?"
Wordlessly, the two headed to the porch, and Finn proceeded to shake Joe's hand and gave him a bro hug. Then he turned his attention to Ella and the baby.
"He's a wee lad, isn't he," Finn chuckled, taking one of Nathan's flailing little fists in his hand. Immediately, the infant latched onto Finn's finger and held on for dear life. "But what a grip he has," he added, finally freeing his finger. "He'll be a strong young man one day."
Ella nodded her agreement, "I don't doubt it."
"Well, I should be going," Finn said abruptly. He swallowed hard as he looked at the family. "It's been a pleasure knowing you all," he said softly. "Take care 'o yourselves." He leaned down and kissed Miracle lightly on the forehead, and handed her a slip of paper. "This is my cell number. If you ever need to talk, little lass, feel free to give me a call."
With that, he turned and walked to his car. Within moments, he'd pulled out of the driveway and drove away. Breaking Miracle's heart in several pieces.
"You okay, honey," Joe asked, noticing the sadness on her face.
She nodded, "Y-yeah. Just gonna miss him."
He hugged her close, "It'll be okay, baby."
She nodded again and then changed the subject. "Do we have everything? Are there any other boxes to load?"
"Nope, that's it," Joe answered, mercifully going along with her subject change.
"Well, we'll get back to our house and let you all get to your new home. Keep in touch, Ella, okay?"
Ella nodded, "I will. Thank you again. For everything."
The older couple smiled and went to their car, driving down the street seconds later.
"Well, we should probably get going," Joe said. "Don't yall think?"
Ella and Miracle nodded as they locked the house up and walked down the porch steps for the final time.
"I'll miss this house," Miracle said wistfully. "But I am pretty excited to see Florida."
"You'll love it," Joe smiled, getting behind the wheel as Ella belted the baby into his carrier next to Miracle in the backseat of the Chevy Tahoe. Once she was belted into the passenger seat, Joe pulled out of the drive and began the long drive toward their new life.

I separate characters from the person who plays them (i.e wrestlers)
I will take requests from the same person more then once! But do not spam requests!
I will write wrestler x wrestler!
I mostly write one-shots out of habit
I currently only do male wrestlers (sorry Rhea fans 💔)

Useless Knowledge (Trent Beretta x Reader)
Tumblr media
They must be ignoring your knocks.
When noone decided to open the locker room door after your fourth knock, although you heard voices loud and clear coming from inside, you decided to just walk in.
"Guys, it's time for shooting. Come on."
Orange Cassidy slouched on the sofa and didn't move an inch while Chuck looked startled at you. The only one to actually react to you was Trent. He quickly stood up from his chair while greeting you.
"Hey Y/N, did you know that there is a type of snail that can switch between sexes and get themselves pregnant?"
Damn, you loved being around Trent. He was always fueling your interest in the most random shit.
"I did know that. But did YOU know that polar bears are lefthanded? Or left-pawed...whatever you call it."
"All of them?"
"That's what I've read."
You two kept walking next to each other for a few steps until you realized the others weren't coming, you moved back to the rest of Best Friends.
"Are you coming?"
Chuck laughed at you. "I'm surprised you even noticed we were missing. Let's go, Orange." He motioned for OC to finally get up, which he reluctantly did while groaning.
You felt the heat on your cheeks and were certain they'd turned a bright red by now. Chuck always teased you and Trent for drifting into your own little world once you were together. You hadn't even realized it happened until he pointed it out. While Chuck's teasing made you nervous and painfully self-aware, it didn't bother Trent at all. He never even as much as flinched at the other man's comments. And you were secretly jealous of his nonchalancy because you hated feeling so exposed.
As soon as you entered the area where Trent's promo on his match with Samoa Joe would be filmed, all three men turned into professional mode. Although there was no need for you to stay there and watch, you couldn't bring your feet to move. You stood there and listened intently, your eyes glued to his lips. When they finished, you smiled at the three and walked up to them.
"That was an interesting take on getting yourself over...mentioning all the years spent in ROH, never winning anything." You stated while nudging his side. Trent was, as usual, unfazed and just shrugged, not saying a word. Instead he slowly made his way back next to you.
In the corner of your eye, you saw OC mumbling something to Chuck before they started walking, almost hurrying, to get ahead of you two.
"Nothing ever bothers you, Trent. Not when people claim you always lose, not when Chuck teases you...How do you do that?"
"Why would I be bothered? Honestly, as long as I did good in my matches, I'm fine with getting beat. So what? I still get to do what I love. And Chuck...he means well. And he's never lying. I forget there are other people around as soon as you're with me. I love the useless knowledge we always share. I just generally like you a lot, so why would I be bothered if he's saying exactly that?" He looked over to you, only to realize you had fallen behind. In fact, you had stopped dead in your tracks as soon as he basically confessed to you.
"What?"
"What what?" He was really confused now.
"What did you just say?"
"Were you not listening? I said that I don't mind people trash-talking m-"
"No Trent, the important part...about liking me."
He chuckled and walked back to where you were standing. "Did you really not know? I like you." Then he wrapped his arms around you and kissed the top of your head.
You smiled into his embrace before speaking. "Well, that's too bad. I do like you too, which means you're kind of stuck with me now. So you need to find a whole lot of random facts to share with me from now on."
"That shouldn't be a problem. I've always wondered if there are expiration dates for poisons. And if so, do they get less or more poisonous? I think they would get less poisonous." He started while wrapping his arm around your waist and strolling back with you.

Smokin' pt 1
Samoa Joe x OC Rebekah Gates
Rebekah is a fan favorite baby face in AEW. She gets roped into a podcast on Colt Cabana's show and in a rapid fire game of 20 Questions she drunkenly admits her crush on Samoa Joe.
Warnings: Smut, choas, embarassment, fluff (if fluff should be a warning?)
Colt leaned in to his microphone and sipped his beer. I was on my 4th beer and swaying in my seat as we happily discussed wrestling, former hobbies, child hood stories, and an advertisement or two.
"Alright guys, the moment you have been waiting for. We promised it and you shall receive. Twenty Questions with THE Rebekah Gates. I pulled the first 50 tweets in response and put them in this hat and we will draw 20 of em! You ready?" Colt motioned over for me to speak into my mic.
"Not in the slightest." I giggled.
"Question number one comes from @baconbits_ If you had to choose, would you rather shave your head or dye your hair pink?" He seemed unimpressed about the question.
"Dye it pink, I have before, its ugly though." I open the 5th beer loudly.
"Question two is from @iamcarl what color underwear are you wearing?" He was stone faced at this point.
"Yall need better questions. Black or yeah black." I was nearing the end of the beer. Swaying in my chair and giggling in between questions.
This was my first time on a podcast and I was really grateful Colt wanted me to be here. I had gotten to know a lot of people the last 6 months here and everyone was welcoming. This was really the first time I let loose though. I do not usually drink anymore simply because I lose any filter I normally would have.
"We are nearing the end of this and how Rebekah is still making sentences after 7 beers is beyond me." Colt opened another drink.
"Three more questions. Then nap time." I put my head down on the desk. Lifting my hand shakily into a thumbs up.
"Question 18 is from @nanabatma What's your favourite swear word?"
"It's definitely the F word. I can say it in 6 different languages and it all hits the same." I smiled.
"Question 19 from @basszero who is your wrestling crush?"
"Samoa Joe. NEXT!" I was starting to feel woosey.
Colt looked over at me and his eyes widened.
"I would have NEVER guessed that. We have to pause here. How long?" He was way too intrigued for my liking.
"I don't know... since I was like 15 and he was in TNA. It's one of the celebrity crush things though like it isnt going to happen but you always have that crush. It's no different than liking a backstreet boy in your 30's... well I mean, I'm not 30 yet BUT STILL." I blurted out and laughed myself to tears. I was so defensive over that crush.
"I am just stunned and you are about to be too because our returning guest on the show tonight is none other than Samoa Joe and he is here to read your last question." Colt was dying laughing. I was bright red.
Play it cool Rebekah, if anything, I can play the drunk card. Right? Oh god I was sobering up via embarassment. Joe sat next to me. He was in some tighter fitting khaki pants with a dark grey polo on. He was all cleaned up with a fresh haircut and smelled like cigars and wood and I hated how red I was turning. It dawned on me that he was in the back and did not hear my admitting of the crush. Colt looked at him and then back and me and fell into the floor laughing.
"I swear to god I did not plan this! I swear!" He laughed some more.
"What is he talking about?" Joe was confused and I thanked the gods for his oblivion.
"One of my questions... it's uhm... it is a long story." I whispered.
"Oh okay..gotcha. It is so nice to finally meet you, I haven't gotten to speak to you since my debut and I am so happy to meet THE Rebekah Gates." He put a hand on my shoulder and lightly squeezed. I nearly passed out from the touch.
"Joe... okay you guys, I am better." Colt caught his breath. "Joe, would you please pull the final question and then we will cut to commercial!" I hated this was a live recording.. no going back now. Colt handed Joe the hat.
"Alright..... final question. This is from @theyoungbutts....wow what a name. Out of all the people in this room, if you had to kiss one person who would it be?" He did the gentlemen's leg cross and looked at me. Before I could answer Colt died laughing again. At this point it was contagious and we were all laughing so hard tears rolled down our rosey cheeks.
"Someone please tell me what is so funny!!" Joe wanted in on the joke so bad.
Part two coming soon!

Take It - AJ Styles
Tumblr media
AJ Styles x Reader
Warnings: a few cuss words
Summary: AJ gives the Reader the kick in the ass she needs to take control of her own career.
The women’s division was exploding and here you were being handed a new child to babysit. Your mic skills were damn near godlike which had turned a blessing into a curse when your career shifted from wrestler to manager. At first you were excited for the change of pace, but you never forgot the promise that you would still wrestle. You sat in the back and watched the women’s evolution forget you as it raged forward. The pop never lessened when your music hit, but every single time you walked out there you felt more and more invisible. You went toe to toe with the likes of Paul Heyman…The Miz…Samoa Joe…Stephanie McMahon. Every single superstar that was in your charge soared to success, but when history looked back on these people, when it looked back on the women’s evolution…would you be there with the recognition you deserved? Most certainly not. These thoughts were consuming your life. They were all you could see when you got your next assignment. The Superstar Draft had given Raw a brand new locker room and you knew it was a matter of time. You were approached with Humberto Carrillo. Familiar with his work on 205Live, you felt it would be easy to get him over with the crowd – even if you half-assed it. Humberto had a great couple of matches and you put him over like the ingrained habit it was. Everything went as expected, until it didn’t. Tonight you watched ringside as Humberto pinned Sin Cara. Muscle memory took over as you celebrated with him. The two of you ducked backstage. “You did a great job out there tonight. A few more matches like that and we’ll be looking at a title.” His face lit up at your words, but you pointed a finger at him, “Now’s not the time to get comfortable. You gotta keep pushing, ok?” He took you by surprise and wrapped you in a big bear hug. You hadn’t been hugged with that kind of sincerity in a long time. He looked you in the eyes and said, “Thank you. I will not let you down.” A little guilt settled at the bottom of your soul knowing you weren’t putting as much heart into this as he was. He disappeared down the hallway. “Maybe I shouldn’t be doing this at all”, you thought, “Maybe it’s time to bow out.” You stood there a few seconds before you felt a presence beside you. “Your boy did good tonight.” That southern drawl wasn’t hard to place. You turned to face AJ, a little surprised to see he was alone. “Good enough for a title shot?” You tapped the top of the title around his waist and gave him a smirk knowing the answer. He let out a laugh, “We’ll let him get a few more matches under his belt before he steps to the Phenomenal One.” You rolled your eyes, but had to agree with him, “Don’t worry, he’ll get there.” AJ had been your favorite person to work against when you were both on Smackdown. All that time you’d been numb, he’d been able to spark a few smiles and warm feelings in your chest. The fans had loved the chemistry between the two of you and clamored for more. They weren’t the only ones who felt the chemistry between you, but management decided they wanted you on Raw, so there you went. Seeing him in that moment made you realize how much you had missed those times. “I’m not concerned about Humberto right now.” You weren’t so surprised at his arrogance, “Who are you worried about?” You decided to play along, but his answer threw you off. “I want you in the OC.” You gave him a confused look, “Not to feed your ego, but the OC doesn’t need a manager and I have Humberto who is…” “I never said I wanted manager…” He interrupted moving closer, “I said I wanted you.” He had just offered you everything you wanted and you didn’t know how respond. It was so enticing, not just wrestling again, but working side by side with him.  You quickly reminded yourself it was a hope that would be squashed as soon as management caught wind of it. So, you shook it off and backed away, “Management will never let me.” He wasn’t letting you off that easy. He snaked an arm around your waist and brought you back to him. “Fuck management.” He growled straight into your ear. He loosened his grip slightly so he could look at you, “ If management knew what they were doing, they would have put us together on Smackdown, but instead they put you on Raw? That made no sense. They don’t let you wrestle?” Of course, the last question struck a nerve and you had to look away. “It’s bullshit, y/n.” He let the words sink in a minute before he pulled you close again, “Look at me..I know you’re angry. Show them how angry you are. You don’t need anyone’s permission...” He smirked, “and if you’re with the OC, we’ll make sure no one gets in the way.” You let out a shaky breath and dropped your head. You hands toyed with the top of his U.S. championship, “You’ve changed.” You told him. He took you chin and lifted it up, “I decided to take what I want.  And if you keep playing with my title I’ll want to take you against this wall.” Your entire body lit up at the thought. “Maybe I should start taking what I want too.” You whispered to him and tugged on the title as you moved toward the wall. AJ closed the distance, but just as his lips touched yours someone called from down the hall. All Humberto had seen was AJ push you against a wall and he came ready for a fight. You were able to keep things from escalating to that with AJ’s surprising cooperation. “We’ve actually known each other a long time, kid. We’re just catching up. You can calm down.” AJ told him, “If I want to pick a fight with you, I’ll come to you.” He didn’t believe him until he got a nod from you. You and AJ shared a glance before parting ways. The following week you were torn, but as Raw got closer you knew what you were going to do. The thought was in your head, but even as you walked into the building you didn’t know if you’d follow through. The show had started and you were watching on a monitor. Humberto came jogging down the hall to let you know that he had been put in a 6 man tag match with Randy and Ricochet against the OC. It was your sign. You had warned Humberto that you’d be taking the kendo stick out with you. He never batted an eye when you told him it was to make a point with Randy and Ricochet, that you had no intention to use it. His naïve faith in you almost made you second guess yourself until you felt the electricity walking into the arena. It was the same pop you’d heard thousands of times, but this time you felt it. Humberto made his grand entrance into the ring and you made your usual subtle one. AJ’s eyes caught yours as you lingered on the apron and you wondered if he knew what you were planning. Humberto’s music was still blaring as you ducked under the ropes and went to grab a mic. Of course, The OC was in the way. Luke and Karl didn’t like the idea of you approaching them with the kendo stick in hand, so they backed up. AJ stayed put. You stopped just shy of being on top of him and, based on the roar from the audience, it was a confrontation they’d been waiting for. “I hope you not planning on using that.” Luke warned from the apron. “She is.” AJ answered, never taking his eyes off of you. You leaned over and grabbed the mic from the production assistant. “You gonna take what you want?” AJ asked. You kept the mic down at your side, “You know, I tried to last week, but some asshole got in the way, so I’ve got to take care of that. I am a little worried about his friends though.”  “Trust me, they won’t be an issue.” He gave you a quick wink before you flipped around and brought the mic to your lips. Humberto was still in the middle of the ring while Randy and Ricochet had gone to the apron. “All right you two...” You pulled the kendo stick up onto your shoulder, “I know you’re not the best of friends, you’ve been at each other’s throats for weeks now, but take my advise... you need to put all that crap aside because, well, you’re outnumbered.” It was a complete shock when you unloaded on Humberto. Just as he promised, the moment Randy and Ricochet came into the ring, Luke and Karl pushed them back out. It felt like you were debuting again. A whole new confidence bloomed inside you. You knelt beside a wincing Humberto. “Oh sweetheart, you really were just in the wrong place at the absolute wrong time. You see, I’ve been on the edge of doing this for so long and now that we’re here I just can’t believe it took me this long. It’s about time I remind people just who the hell I am.” You let the mic fall onto his face and stood up to a chorus of boos. It was incredible. AJ was helping Luke finish off Randy when he saw you were done with Humberto. He slid into the ring and in two strides had one hand in your hair, one shamelessly on your ass, and his lips locked onto yours. You wrapped your hands around his waist pulling him closer. He pulled away just as Karl and Luke got back into the ring, “Welcome to The OC, baby.” Karl and Luke threw up the Too Sweet with AJ and the final image as Raw went off air was you joining them.

Four’s Company Part 1
Pairing - Seth Rollins x Roman Reigns x Dean Ambrose x OC (Katy)
Summary - Kathryn, or Katy as her friends called her, never felt comfortable in a normal relationship. She tried the whole dating scene in college, but she'd always get bored with the guy. She'd always move on and usually without even telling her current boyfriend. Coming from a particularly religious background, Katy didn't exactly tell her mother her desire to be with more than one man at the same time. The trouble, she soon found out, was not many men felt the same way. Katy learned to keep that desire to herself, and resigned to living alone. Fast forward, Katy is the latest up and coming in ring announcer and interviewer in the WWE, a job that she loves. She gets to travel the world, see wrestling, and hang out with some of the hottest guys she's ever seen. Arriving in 2013, Katy became fast friends with the three men of the Shield, and began to fantasize about not only having sex with all of them, but at the same time. Katy has long known how to keep her fantasies to herself, and never mention them aloud. That is until one night, she went to her friend's birthday party, and a few games of shot roulette later, Katy admitted her fantasy to her good friend, who came to pick her up, Roman Reigns.
Warnings - polyamours and gay relationships, angst, jealousy, ultimate smut, fluff, don’t like this kind of thing don’t read.

"Alright Katy, you're going to interview the Shield today after their match with the Bar and Samoa Joe," the producer told her.
"You got it," she said, closing her eyes so Lindsay could finish her makeup.
"Don't forget we need to film some interviews to be broadcasted later," he said, giving her additional details before walking off to find someone else.
"Oh Katy, I wanted to invite you to my house next Wednesday," Lindsay said with a grin. "It's my birthday party."
"Of course, I'll be there, give me the details later, and I'll make sure to come," Katy said, hugging her friend before going to study her lines.
Sitting on a box, Katy was so focused she didn't hear Dean Ambrose walk straight up to her; not until he grabbed her thighs and shouted "BOO."
"OH MY GOD," she yelped, putting a hand to her chest, before waking Dean with her papers, unable to hold back her smile. "That is not cool."
Laughing loudly, Dean didn’t look have an ounce of remorse on his face. "I love your reactions," Dean said, holding his side in laughter.
"You ain't even seen the best of them," Katy teased with a seductive wink, before jumping off the box.
"One day I will," he said, stepping behind her, his breath on the back of her neck, sending chills down her spine and goosebumps appeared on her arms.
Katy felt her pussy wet instantly at the declaration, and fuck she wanted to show him, but she refused to ruin their friendship. Instead, she took a step away from him, and smirked. "You wish, Ambrose."
"Every night," he said, making a jerk off motion with a wink.
"Oh my god," she laughed, turning away from him before she jumped and wrapped her legs around his lean waist, finding the friction her pussy was screaming out for. "What did you bother me for?" Did her voice always sound that breathy?
"We're all going to dinner after the show before heading to the airport, want to come with us?" He asked, falling into step next to her. Yeah, they may flirt, and some people say there is all kinds of sexual tension between her and the entire Shield, but Katy knew guys were just being guys.
"Sure," she said with a smile. "Maybe I could talk you to into carrying my bags for me, again."
"Fat chance sweetheart," chuckled Dean before running off when a producer called out his name.
Raw went off without a hitch, The Shield got laid out at the start, two out of three won, and the audience loved every moment of it. Katy interviewed all three of them, and as usual got winks and looks during the entire moment. Again, they were just playing a part, three single men objectifying a woman, but fuck if Katy didn't want them to more than objectify her.
That night, Katy ended up in a sports bar and grill with about five other wrestlers. The long days of travel, and hours of work, finally caught up to her, and she began to yawn.
"Tired?" Seth Rollins asked, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
"I don't know how you're not. You've travelled just as much as I have and wrestled between it all," said Katy, laying her head on his chest, closing her eyes.
"It's all the adrenaline," he said with a chuckle, tucking her close to him. "Don't worry I have you."
Tucked against Seth's warm body, and his manly scent engulfing her, Katy soon fell fast asleep against her friend.
"We should talk to her," said Dean, when he saw Katy fast asleep against Seth.
"I don't know man," said Seth, his hand pulled up her shirt just enough for his hands to rub her soft skin. "What if she freaks out?"
"She's not like Renee," said Dean. "Katy's different. Come on Ro, back me up here."
Roman took a swig of his beer. "I don't know, Dean. You said the same thing about Renee, and as soon as she found how close we are she clearly wasn't okay with all of us."
"Okay, so I was wrong about Renee, but I’m not wrong about Katy," the Lunatic said. "She's never looked at his funny when we touch a little too much, and I swear I see heat in her eyes."
"You see heat in everyone's eyes," declared Seth, making Roman chuckle.
"Okay boys," Roman's alpha side coming out, sending a shiver down Dean and Seth's spine. Even Katy shivered a little in her sleep. "Let's just wait a little longer. Get a good feel for Katy before slowly introducing her to us."
Seth nodded in agreement, looking at the two men that have become so much a part of his soul he didn't' know where one began and he ended. "I agree with, Ro."
Dean let out a long breath, settling into the bench with a huff. "Fine, I guess you're right."
Roman smirked, and placed his large hand on the inside of Dean's thigh. "Don't frown, Deano. You look between scowling or smiling."

1x1 WWE roleplay!
Hey everyone! I'm looking for a 1x1 WWE partner for a Roman Reigns x OC rp. I play female, but I'd be willing to double. The only characters I don't play are Kevin Owens, Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman or Samoa Joe. Plots are up for discussion, as are ratings. I value quality over quantity so if you can make a quality post in just 2-3 sentences, that's fine. Just give me something to work with. Anybody game? :D

Chapter Forty-three
Joe and Ella walked into their hotel room in Denver the next night, after Jeff insisted they rest.
"Y'all have both been through a nightmare. You need to go and get some sleep," he'd told them. "I'll stay here with Miracle and call you if anything comes up."
Reluctantly, the couple finally agreed and checked into a hotel room only a few blocks away.
Ella was nervous.
I have to tell Joe about what Fournier made me do for him, she thought. He has a right to know, and he's got the right to divorce me if he wants. The thought broke her heart, but she wanted to get the discussion over with so she could finally relax, whatever came her way.
"Joe..." she said softly, sitting down on the edge of the large bed. "I... We need to talk."
Joe looked at her, concern and worry on his face. "Are you sure you don't want to try to get a little sleep first?"
She shook her head. "No. I need to get this out in the open. If you're going to leave me, I want to know now."
"Leave you," Joe asked, sitting down beside her. "lo'u alofa, why would I leave you?"
"Fournier raped me," Ella said softly, unable to meet her husband's eyes. "It wasn't just an attempt this time, Joe. He raped me. Many times."
"Baby, I know that. That's not going to make me leave you."
Ella managed to look over at him then, "But... he also..."
"What," Joe asked. "What else did he do to you?"
"He told me that... He'd kill Miracle if I didn't..."
Joe's hand came up and his thumb traced over her cheekbone. "You can tell me, honey."
"He made me have sex with him. Not like—where he forced himself on me. He made me..." She struggled for the right word as a knot formed in her throat. Tears burned her eyes. "He made me seduce him, for lack of a better term."
Joe cursed, anger evident in his voice.
"I'm so sorry, Joe," Ella cried, turning away from him. The shame of what she'd done burned like a ball of acid in her stomach. "He said he'd kill her. I didn't have a choice-"
She felt Joe's arms go around her then and then his hand stroked over her hair. "I'm not angry at you, honey," he told her. "I'm angry at that monster for everything he did to you."
"I'm still sorry," Ella sobbed. "I feel so filthy. He said he'd let her live if I did it. And then a few weeks later, he's tossing her into the cage with me and threatening to kill her again." Her body shuddered from her sobs, and Joe held her tighter.
"That piece of garbage held you in a cage," Joe asked. "God, baby, I'm so sorry I couldn't find you."
"Shh," Ella shifted so she was holding on to Joe as well, and comforted him in return. "It wasn't your fault, Joe. Fournier was just really good at disappearing. "I'm just so very grateful to be safe again. I'm so relieved that he's dead and he can't hurt anyone anymore." She reached up and kissed him softly on the mouth. "I love you."
"I love you," Joe whispered, gazing into her eyes and returning her kiss.
"Please, be patient with me," Ella asked softly. "I don't know when I'll be ready to make love again."
"I'll wait as long as I have to," Joe replied, tracing his thumb over her bottom lip. "I'll never push you."
"I know," Ella nodded. "And I want you to know... It has nothing to do with you. It's me." She swallowed, buying time to gather her thoughts, and continued. "I told you earlier, that I feel so filthy. And it's true. I need time—maybe even counseling—in order to come to terms with what Fournier made me do. Even though I know I had no choice, there's still a little voice in my head telling me that I cheated on you—betrayed you. I need to forgive myself."
Joe pulled her closer in his embrace and rubbed soothing circles over her back with his hand. "I understand. I don't believe you did anything to need forgiveness for, but I understand that what you feel is what matters. So, take all the time you need. I'll always be here, lo'u alofa."
"Joe, thank you so much," Ella whispered. "I'll never understand how I became so blessed."
Joe smiled down at her. "I'm the one who's blessed." He kissed her lightly on the mouth again. "Now, let's both lie down and sleep for a while. I think we need it."
Ella nodded and scooted under the covers. Joe pulled her close to him again and whispered, "I hope you don't mind me holding you, honey. I need to. It's been so long since I got to hold you when you were sleeping."
"I don't mind at all," she whispered sleepily. "I've dreamed of this so many times over the past twelve years. I can't believe it's real."
"It's real," Joe said, kissing the top of her head, and settling against the pillows. "Get some sleep, lo'u alofa."

Finn sat in his usual spot whenever he visited Miracle—the armchair next to her bed. He kept vigil over her ever since her fever returned.
"It's nothing to be alarmed about," her doctor assured her family and visitors. "It's quite normal. We'll get it taken care of."
While the fever wasn't quite high enough to be life-threatening, it was keeping the girl exhausted and restless—even while she slept, not to mention the vivid nightmares it elicited. And her high temperature was proving to be quite persistent. She was given alternating doses of Tylenol and Advil, and a strong round of antibiotics through her IV. Slowly, but surely, the medication was working—gradually bringing her fever down a little at a time.
Finn was about to doze off in his chair, when he heard a soft cry from Miracle. His head shot up and watched her for a moment, making sure she was all right. Her small frame jolted in the hospital bed, a whimper bursting from her lips as she shivered.
"Miracle," he whispered, rising to his feet and standing over her. He reached over the railing and placed the back of his hand against her cheek, then her forehead. "Still burnin' up," he murmured softly. He punched in the call button on the bed's control panel and spoke when the nurse greeted him. "Miracle's fever is still up. I think she may need another dose of something for it."
"Alright, dear," the older woman said kindly. "I'll be right there with the doctor to check her over."
"Thank you," Finn said, stress evident in his tone. Then he went over to the sink and flipped on the water faucet, wetting down a washcloth in the cold water.
"Please," Miracle gasped in her sleep suddenly. "Don't! Don't... hurt... th-them!"
Finn hurried back over to her, and gently placed the cool, soothing cloth against her hot forehead. She flinched away from his touch till he whispered softly in her ear. "Wake up, sweetheart. It's okay. You're safe. Níl aon duine ag dul a ghortú leat."
Her eyes shot open and gazed up into his, panic flashing through their onyx depths.
"Finn," she said softly. "Thank God... I just had a horrible..."
"I know, lass," he whispered. "You were cryin' out in your sleep." He dabbed at her hot skin with the cool cloth. "Your fever's still up. The doctor is coming to check you over."
"I feel hot and cold at the same time—and wet," she whispered miserably.
He nodded. "You're sweating. I think the fever's trying to break, but it's being a wee bit stubborn."
"I've always had trouble with fevers," Miracle said. "Whenever I get sick, Mom has a hard time getting my temperature to go back down again."
Dr. Samuels and a nurse entered the room then, and Finn took a seat in the chair again while they checked Miracle's temperature and other vitals.
"Yes, your fever is still a little too elevated, but I can feel a difference. I think it'll break completely, soon." He turned his attention to the nurse and said softly, "Get her a double dose of Ibuprofen, and see if that takes care of it ."
The nurse left the room to get the medicine, and Dr. Samuels checked Miracle over some more. "As soon as we get your temperature regulated, we'll try moving you to a regular hospital room. We'll keep an eye on you for a couple of days then and see how you do. If you do well, we'll see about discharging you." He paused for a moment and glanced at Finn, "Are you a family member?"
Finn shook his head, "More of a family friend," he said softly.
"Well, I'll go over this with you a little and discuss it with her parents when they're here. Miracle will need to take care of herself, more than a typical girl her age." He looked at Miracle directly then. "You're going to have to eat very healthy—low sodium, low fat, low sugar if any. You'll need to exercise—lightly at first, and then more strenuously in time. Start out taking a five minute walk a couple times a day, then work your way up to a light jog. I'll give you and your parents some reading so you'll know exactly what to do, or not do."
Miracle nodded. "Thank you, Doctor."
The doctor smiled warmly and patted her shoulder. "Oh, your hospital gown is drenched. I'll send for a couple of aides to come change your sheets and get you a fresh gown so you'll be more comfortable."
"Thank you," the girl repeated. "That would be wonderful."
He left the room and in a couple of minutes, the nurse returned along with two aides. She handed Miracle a little medicine cup with a large, white caplet in it, and a cup of iced water.
After taking the pill, the aides set about changing her sheets.
"Here, if you hold on to us, we'll set you over-"
"I got 'er," Finn said, stepping forward. He bent down and lifted her up into his arms as her arms linked around his neck. He sat down in his chair, settling her in his lap so the aides could change the bed clothes out.
Miracle felt her heart speed up as Finn's arms held her. Fatigue settled in and she relaxed against him, closing her eyes and breathing in his scent.
"Thank you, sir," one of the aides said. "That makes this a lot easier and quicker."
He nodded in return and looked down at Miracle's face, noting the dark circles under her eyes. "Are ya okay, lass," he asked. Running his finger over one of the dark circles.
She nodded, "Yes, just really tired. I've never felt so tired in my life."
"I can only imagine," Finn said. "You'll feel better soon."
"Are Mom and Daddy doing okay," she asked, opening her eyes and looking up into his face.
He nodded his head, "Yes, they're doing great considering what they've been through. Don't worry about them," he said. "Concentrate on getting well."
"Okay, we're done here. Sir, if you could lay her back down on the bed and step outside for a moment, we'll see about helping her change into this clean gown."
"Sure," Finn replied. He rose up again, and gently deposited Miracle onto the bed, then stepped out into the hallway, till minutes later, when the aides came out and told him he could go back inside.
Then he re-entered the room and took his usual place, watching over Miracle as she fell asleep again.

Joe and Ella learned the next morning that Jeff had informed their TNA family about Ella being found. This of course, meant a get-together—and soon.
Joe had just hung up from Jeff's phone call when he'd turned to face Ella's horrified face.
"I need a quick shopping trip, Joe," she'd cried, looking down at herself. The scrubs she still wore just wouldn't do. "They can't see me for the first time in over twelve years looking like this!"
So with that, they got into his car and he drove them to a nearby department store so Ella could pick out some maternity clothes. Less than an hour and a couple of shopping bags later, she felt less anxious.
"Feel better about a visit now," Joe smiled, kissing her on the cheek as they headed back out to his car.
"Yes, much," she replied. "I'll take a shower, put on a little make-up and a dress—I'll be fine," she smiled.
And true to her word, as soon as they got back to their room, she did exactly that—she went into the bathroom and took a quick shower, then dried her hair. Only a little over an hour had passed by the time she applied a little makeup and pulled on an ankle-length maternity dress.
And then there was an insistent knocking at the door.
"Okay, now I'm anxious again," Ella whispered. "What will they think of me—knowing I left my family and friends behind?"
"They'll understand just like Jeff did, and just like I did after my shock wore off," Joe told her, with a quick kiss to the tip of her nose.
She nodded as Joe moved to open the door, though her eyes still held apprehension.
A few seconds later, the room was quite crowded with AJ, Alex and Shelley, Angelina, and Talia, Kurt Angle and Steve Borden.
"The whole roster wanted to come, but Dixie of course couldn't allow it," AJ was telling Joe. Then it was as if everyone's eyes shifted over to Ella simultaneously.
"ELLA!"
Talia and Angelina both flew at Ella and grabbed her into a fierce hug, happy tears streaming down their faces. "Oh, my God! I still can't believe it," Talia cried.
Ella's own eyes welled with tears as she hugged her two close friends. "I'm so sorry," she whispered, not trusting her voice to speak any louder. "I just... I had to-"
"We know, sweetie," Angelina said, squeezing Ella's hand. "And we understand. We all do."
Then their eyes fell on her round stomach. "You're pregnant," they exclaimed in unison.
Ella nodded with a smile.
The two women glanced at each other before returning their gazes to Ella.
"So, is it..." Talia began awkwardly.
"It's Joe's. A baby boy," Ella replied happily. "We had some brief time together before Fournier got to me. And Joe explained to me how his P.I. found out Fournier was sterile. Thank God."
Angel nodded in agreement. "We're so sorry you went through all that, Ella. But we're so glad to have you back."
AJ moved forward then and approached Ella. She looked up at his face and then shifted her gaze downward, shame written all over her face.
"AJ, I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am—for what I did to you. I didn't mean to hurt you, I just—I had to do something. I knew you wouldn't let me leave-"
Her words cut off as she was crushed up against AJ's chest and enfolded in his arms. "Shhh," he shushed her gently and kissed the top of her head. "I'm just so grateful you're alive, sweetheart."
Ella sobbed then and wrapped her arms around his waist, returning his hug. "I'm grateful to be alive and to have everyone's forgiveness."
Kurt tugged her over to his embrace next and hugged her tight. "Nothing to forgive, hon. You were just trying to find a way to survive and protect everyone."
Before she knew it, Ella was passed over to Steve and then Alex and Shelley—who both seemed unsure of how to hug her around her belly. She laughed and pulled them both into an embrace. "I'm pregnant guys—not made out of glass."
Minutes later, when the bittersweetness of the reunion was passed, things seemed to return to the way they were before Ella's disappearance.
"We heard about your daughter," Steve said softly, as they all sat around catching up. "Is she going to be okay?"
Ella nodded, taking Joe's hand in hers. "Yes, thank God. Fournier poisoned her. He was a botantist and very smart where toxins were concerned. He developed one and used it on Miracle. It gave her a heart attack—so she's now faced with having a heart condition the rest of her life. But, the doctor says if she takes care of herself it should be manageable."
"We're so sorry, Ella," Talia said. "But glad to hear she'll be fine. We can't wait to meet her. Jeff says she looks like both of you." She smiled warmly. "We're all here for you. And we'll do anything we can to help you guys out, you know that."
Ella nodded again, "I know. And I can't thank you all enough for your support and devotion." She looked over at Joe and smiled, a dreamy expression crossing her face. "I never thought I'd be free to live again—let alone have love in my life again." She smiled at them all then. "Somehow, I feel like my life is just truly beginning."

Chapter Forty-Two
Jeff entered Rose Medical Center in Denver, along with Nina, Kayla and Jennifer. Within minutes, the family had ridden the elevator up to the third floor where the Intensive Care Unit was located. They approached the ICU waiting room and instantly spotted Joe sitting in a chair between Finn and another man they didn't recognize.
"How are they," Jeff demanded, surging into the room, his family close behind.
Joe's head shot up and Jeff could see the remains of tears on his face.
Oh, God, he thought. Are they dead?
"Ella seems to be okay, physically," Joe answered, swallowing hard. "But I know she's going to need counseling when this is all over. She's pregnant with my son."
"How do you know the baby's yours, Uncle Joe," Jennifer asked.
"Because Fournier's sterile," Joe explained. "He can't have a baby."
"What about Miracle," Nina asked. "Where is she?"
"She's in ICU right now," Joe replied, his fists shaking with rage. "Fournier decided to get Ella and I where it really hurts. He poisoned Miracle with some mixture he came up with—some venoms along with a large dose of insulin. She had a heart attack."
"But she's only thirteen!"
"It was the poison. It had nothing to do with her age or health," Joe explained. "The doctors say she'll most likely have a permanent heart problem due to all the trauma it went through."
"Joe..." Jeff started, at a loss for words. "I'm so... so sorry."
Joe nodded, "She'll be okay." He looked up at his family then, "Fournier is dead. Ella killed him."
"Thank God," Nina sighed with relief. "At least we can focus on helping Miracle and Ella heal, and not have to worry about that monster watching our every move."
Joe stood to his feet. "Oh, I can't believe I almost forgot. This…" he motioned to the stranger sitting beside him. "This is the PI I hired…Matthew Wilson." Then he indicated Finn. "And to those of you who haven't met him, this is Officer Finn Bálor. I wouldn't have gotten Ella and Miracle back without their help."
Matthew and Finn stood then to shake each family member's hand.
"Thank you so much for your help," Jeff said as he took the PI's hand. "You have no idea what you've done for us."
"I wish I could've done more—and sooner at that," Matthew replied humbly.
Ella walked into the waiting room then, wearing a clean pair of scrubs in place of the lone t-shirt she came in with. Her eyes fell on Jeff, Nina and their daughters and she launched at them, sobbing until her entire body shook. "I'm so sorry," she cried, hugging her uncle close.
"Shh, darlin'. You did what you thought you had to do," Jeff held her close and patted her back.
Ella nodded as she pulled back and looked him over. "I was so scared of being the cause of you all dying. I couldn't handle it." She reached over then and hugged Nina. "I love you all so much!" Her gaze shifted to the two Jarrett girls and her tears came even harder. "And you two... I've missed seeing you grow up." She hugged the crying girls close. "You've both grown into such beautiful young ladies!"
"We love you, Ella," Kayla whispered. "We missed you so much!"
"How are you," Joe asked her. "Did they find any injuries?"
"Just a concussion," she replied, "I'm fine. Any word on Mir-"
"Mr. Seanoa? Mrs. Seanoa?"
They all turned then to see a doctor standing in the doorway.
"Yes," Joe answered immediately. "How is our daughter?"
"I'm Dr. Samuels. Miracle's very drained and sleepy from all the medicine we had to give her, but I think she'll make a full recovery. The bullet wound was only a scrape, so luckily, she just needed some stitches. However, as I told you earlier, she will most likely always have issues with her heart due to the poison and trauma. But it shouldn't be life threatening as long as she takes care of herself."
"So, she's going to…be okay," Ella managed, relief flooding through her. "I want to see her. Which room is she in?"
Dr. Samuels nodded, "Yes, she is. And of course. You two can see her together, since you're her parents—but anyone else only one at a time. And only for a few minutes. Follow me. I'll take you to her."
They followed the doctor down the long hallway and into a private ICU room where they found Miracle lying in her bed. She was still hooked to an IV, blood-pressure monitor, as well as an electrocardiograph machine. A nasal cannula was placed in her nose, providing her with oxygen, and they noticed the bandage wrapped around her bicep. Ella and Joe each sat down in a chair on either side of the bed and took her hands, amazed when her eyes opened and she groggily looked up at them. A weak smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.
"Mama... Daddy..."
"Miracle," Ella whispered softly. "How are you feeling, lo'u alofa?"
"Really t-tired," the girl stammered. "I was hurting so bad... But the doctor gave me... morphine, I think. Now, I'm just really sleepy." She swallowed hard. "H-How are you, Mama? Is Fournier dead?"
"Yes, baby. He's dead. It's over. We can all be together now. We just need you to get better," she smiled softly, running her hand over Miracle's forehead.
"I'm just glad to be alive right now," Miracle said softly. "I didn't really think I was going to make it."
"But you did," Joe smiled. "You're part Seanoa and part Jarrett and Roberts. They don't come any tougher than us."
The girl smiled and then yawned sleepily, her eyes growing heavy.
"Would you like to rest now, baby? Or would you like to see another visitor," Ella asked, leaning down to kiss her daughter's cheek.
"Is... Is Finn here," Miracle asked softly. "He saved me... from Fournier. I want to thank him."
"Yes, he's been here the whole time," Ella replied. "We'll go get him for you."
"Thank you," Miracle yawned again.
"You're welcome, sweetheart," Joe whispered, leaning down and kissing her temple. "Get some rest."
Joe and Ella left the room then, and headed back down the hall toward the waiting room. Their loved ones all looked at them as they re-entered the room. "Finn," Ella offered him a warm smile. "Miracle was asking for you."
"Really," Finn asked, astonishment on his face.
"She wants to thank you," Joe said. "She says you saved her from Fournier. So, Ella and I want to thank you as well. Thank you for protecting her these past few months, but especially for helping her through what Fournier did to her."
"But I didn't really do anything- Because I failed to protect her at her school, she was kidnapped. I didn't save her."
"Yes, you did," Ella cut in. She placed her hand on his shoulder. "She was scared to death, but you were there for her. You kept Fournier from hurting her further. You did save her life, Finn."
"I don't feel like I did enough," the officer confessed. "I didn't get to her in time. If I had... She wouldn't be facing a permanent heart issue."
"But you didn't cause it, Finn," Joe reassured him. "Fournier is the one who hurt her. It's not your fault that you couldn't find Ella and Miracle in time. You got to them before I did, and I'm their husband and father. Don't beat yourself up over this."
Finn nodded dejectedly, "I'll work on it."
"Come on. I'll show you to her room," Ella said, motioning for Finn to follow her.
}i{}i{}i{}i{
Only minutes later, Finn sat down in one of the chairs next to Miracle's bed. The girl appeared to be asleep, so he gently took her hand, lightly rubbing his thumb over the back of it. In her sleep, Miracle must have felt the tender caress because the corners of her mouth curved up into a smile. Her eyes opened and she turned her face to see Finn sitting beside her.
"Hi," she whispered.
"Hi," Finn whispered back, reaching up to push some hair back off her forehead. "How're ya feelin', lass?"
"Sleepy and sore, but it sure beats being dead," she tried to joke. She wanted nothing more than to see Finn smile instead of looking as though he had the weight of the world on his shoulders.
"That's not funny," he said, staring into her eyes. "Don't joke about that."
"I'm sorry," Miracle said. "I just wanted you to smile. I don't like seeing you look so sad."
"Well, joking about your death isn't going to inspire a smile, Miracle."
"What will make you smile?"
Finn started to speak, but faltered. He swallowed hard and tried again. "Seeing you healthy. And out of that hospital bed."
"Well, then I'll work on that right away," she teased, squeezing his hand in hers. "Seriously, Finn. Don't worry about me. I'll be okay. Thanks to you."
"How can ya say that, little lass? It's 'cause of me that you're here!"
She shook her head. "You're wrong."
"And how is that?"
"At the school, you told me to run. I didn't," she replied.
"'Cause 'o me," Finn reminded her. "Ya felt like you couldn't leave me there. If I'd not built a friendship wit' you, then this wouldn't have-"
Miracle covered his lips with her fingers and shook her head at him. Tears welled up in her eyes. "Please, don't say that," she begged, her voice shaking with emotion. "Despite all that's happened, I found a silver lining: My father finding us to begin with, and your friendship. Please, don't make it sound like it's nothing. It's important to me."
"I'm sorry, lass. Our friendship is important to me too. I just hate feeling so useless. Logically, I know this wasn't my fault—it was Fournier's, one-hundred percent. But, there is this little nagging voice that keeps telling me I didn't do enough."
"Then tell it to shut-up," she told him matter of factly. "If you hadn't shown up when you did, do you really think Fournier would've been patient enough to wait on my death from that poison? No. He would've lost his temper and finished me off. You did save my life, Finn. And I'm finished discussing it."
The corners of his mouth tugged upward a bit, as though he were fighting off a grin. He enjoyed her sass and fire. "Okay, lass. For you, I will drop it." He stood to his feet then. "I'm going to leave so ya can get some sleep now. You need it."
Miracle squeezed his hand again. "Please, don't go. Not yet. Will you stay with me till I fall asleep?"
Caving in, he sat back down in the chair and nodded. "'O' course I will."
She sighed in relief, and settled against her pillow as Finn held her hand between both of his. He rubbed soothing circles over her knuckles with his thumb, and soon, Miracle's eyes grew heavy.
Scant minutes later, she was asleep, her breaths deep and even.
Finn lifted her limp hand to his lips and kissed it softly. "I'll come back to see you soon, lass," he whispered. Then he stood and left the room.

Chapter Forty-One
"Mom, he's okay," Miracle said softly. "He's a cop. Helping me..."
Ella looked at her daughter, tears glimmering in her eyes. "What's wrong with her," she asked Finn, slowly lowering the gun.
"Fournier poisoned her, Mrs. Seanoa," Finn answered. "But help's on the way."
"God, no..." Ella whispered, rushing to her daughter's side.
"It's okay, Mama," Miracle said weakly, now too tired to keep coughing. "It's over. Finn caught him. He can't hurt you anymore."
A sob burst from Ella's throat as tears streamed down her cheeks. "Baby, if he takes you from me, I'll hurt the rest of my life." Her gaze shifted to Finn. "Where is he?"
"He's out front," Finn answered. "I blew his knees out."
"That's a good start, but not near enough," she replied, standing dazedly to her feet. She exited the cabin out the front door, cocking the gun in her hand.
Finn didn't bother trying to stop her. He'd wanted to kill Fournier as well, but he wasn't going to deprive Miracle's parents of the opportunity.
A loud shot rang out a few seconds later, and Miracle jolted slightly, a cry passing her lips. Her eyes became slightly glazed and she looked up at Finn.
He noted the gray tint to her skin despite the heat emitting from her slight frame. Her eyes were growing heavy, but he could see she had something to say to him.
"Finn..." she whispered, reaching for his hand.
He took her scorching hand in his and held on tight, "What is it, little lass?"
"Thank you."
Her breaths were coming faster and Finn didn't know how much longer she had.
He fought to swallow around the lump in his throat. The young girl had earned a special place in his heart. Before he could reply, she lurched upward, her hand slapping over her chest as she sobbed in torment. Writhing through her pain, she was unaware as Finn took her in his arms.
"Miracle! Hang on, baby," Finn said, stroking her hair back off her forehead. He became conscious of a "whop-whop-whop" growing louder and louder. "Help is almost here." He watched in horror as Miracle finally fell limp in his embrace, her eyes closed, lips parted slightly. "Miracle! Miracle, stay with me!" He patted her cheek trying to rouse her. But the girl remained unconscious, her head lolling as he tapped her cheek.
Suddenly, medical personnel flooded into the cabin and pulled Miracle out of his arms, immediately laying her on a gurney.
}i{}i{}i{}i{
Ella made her way out of the cabin, thankful that the harsh rain had let up. Immediately, she spotted Fournier lying on his back in the grass a few feet away, barely conscious. She dazedly stalked over to him, holding her head as she went.
Fournier's eyes shifted over to her as she stood above him, the gun pointed at his face.
"You won't kill me," he spoke softly, pain evident on his face and in his voice. "You're too softhearted to do something like that. You'll cave in, and let the Marshalls arrest me."
Ella looked down at him, a malicious glint in her eyes. "You might be right... Had you not hurt my daughter." She centered the gun's aim at his forehead. "But now... All I can think about is killing you. I'd love to make it slow and painful, however, I want to know that it gets done. Once and for all, Jacques Fournier—you are OUT of mine and my family's lives."
Before he even had a chance to say a word, Ella fired the gun, blasting a bullet through his skull and into his brain—finally ending him. She reached down and checked his pulse at his neck, and breathed a sigh of relief when she found absolutely no sign of life left in the monster.
"Finally," she whispered to herself, more tears falling down her face. "It's finally over." She made her way back to the porch and leaned against the porch's railing, still dizzy from the hard hit to the head she took. Hearing a steady whop-whop-whop coming from the sky, she looked upward just as two helicopters became visible overhead. They were obviously headed for the cabin as the two aircrafts began descending.
Ignoring her swimming head, Ella instantly stood to her feet and stumbled her way to the middle of the yard, waving her hands at the helicopters and signaling to them for help.
"Please! Help us," she cried over the loud chopping of the rotary wings.
The copters both lowered to the ground and in the next instant, numerous people began exiting them.
"Ella Seanoa," one of them called out. "Are you Ella?"
"Yes," she sobbed, falling to her knees in relief as U. S. Marshalls and medical personnel surrounded her. She felt a blanket being draped around her. "Please, help my daughter. She's inside. She was-"
"Ella!"
She froze for a second, then rose to her feet, searching for the owner of the voice she'd know anywhere.
"J-Joe," she called softly. She thought she was crazy for a moment. Joe's dead, she thought sorrowfully. I'm hearing things. I have to be.
But there he was, emerging from the throng of U. S. Marshalls and medical team, and then standing right in front of her amongst all the people trying to help her.
"Joe," she said again. And took a step toward him before being crushed up against his chest.
"Thank God," she heard him whisper as he hugged her close. "I was so afraid..."
"Oh, my God," Ella managed, sagging against him. "You were shot, Joe! In the chest," she sobbed, touching his face, still not sure of what she was seeing. "I went all this time... I thought you were dead! I didn't see how you could have surv-"
Her flurry of words were cut off as Joe's mouth crashed against hers. Their tears mingled in with the kiss and Ella sobbed as the emotion over-came her. "I love you so much!"
"I love you," Joe returned, hugging her close again. "And I'm so sorry it took so long to find you." He gazed down at her rounded stomach and placed his hand on it, stroking it lovingly. "A baby?"
She managed a smile, "Yes. A boy. And he's yours."
"I know." At her quizzical expression, he elaborated a little. "I'll explain later. Where's Fournier? Miracle?"
"Fournier is dead. I shot him in the head," Ella said, numbness in her voice. "Miracle is..." Fresh tears spilled down her cheeks. "She's in the cabin with an officer—Finn. She's been..."
"I know, lo'u alofa. I know," Joe spoke softly, pulling her close, and running his hand over her hair soothingly. "The medics will help her."
"But-"
"Shh," Joe said quietly. "She'll be fine."
They saw Finn being all but ushered out of the cabin then. Ella and Joe hurried up to him and bombarded him with questions.
"How is she?"
"Is she going to be okay?"
"What are they doing to treat her?"
Finn took a deep breath and placed one of his hands on each of their shoulders to calm them down. "She lost consciousness, but she was still breathin'," he answered the first question and then the others. "They've not said if she will pull through or not. They just started assessing her a minute ago. As for her treatment—I don't know. They wouldn't tell me anything. They just kicked me out of the cabin."
"We're losing her, guys! Get those antivenins in her, STAT! Get some aspirin into her IV, and also-"
Joe, Ella and Finn could clearly hear everything going on.
"Oh, God," Ella cried, leaning into Joe. "They said they're losing her!"
"Shhh... She'll be okay, honey. She has each of us in her, and we're two of the toughest people there are," Joe told her. "She'll make it."
In the next instant, the medical team was wheeling Miracle out on a gurney and heading for the Medevac helicopter. The girl was extremely pale. An IV was in her arm and she was hooked up to a blood-pressure machine. Joe and Ella started to follow them to the helicopter, but one of the U.S. Marshalls tried to stop them.
"Ma'am, we need you to answer some questions first."
Ella spun on him, "You see that little girl being taken away on that helicopter? She's my daughter. And I'm going with her NOW. If you want answers, you're going to have to wait for them."
"Not to mention she needs some medical attention as well," Joe said, motioning toward Ella.
"No, I'm fine," Ella started, heading for the helicopter.
"So that's why you've been swaying on your feet this whole time," Joe retorted, following along. "You're getting checked out."
They reached the helicopter and climbed in. They looked back at Finn who had a worried expression on his face. "I'll drive to the hospital and meet you there," he called from across the yard. "Keep me posted."
"Will do," Joe called back. "Thank you, Finn!"
He received a nod in acknowledgment, and then the aircraft's door slammed shut, and they were lifting seconds later.
"How is our daughter," Ella asked the medics.
"She's not stable yet, but she's doing better now that the antivenins and some medications are in her system," the EMT reported. "We're working on her fever now."
Ella and Joe watched as they packed their daughter in ice to lower her temperature. The girl whimpered softly in her unconscious state.
"Is she going to be okay," Joe asked, tension etching across his forehead.
"Sir, I'm not a doctor, I'm sorry," the medic replied sympathetically. "I can only imagine what you're going through as her parents, but I'm professionally, and ethically unable to tell you one way or the other. That has to come from the doctor who treats her."
Joe nodded his understanding while Ella took her daughter's hand in her own.
They had no idea how they'd get through the next few hours—not knowing if Miracle would pull through or not.

Chapter Forty
Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed brightly through the room as Ella and Miracle went over their plan again and again. They finally heard Fournier approaching the exterior door outside the cage and knew the time had come to put their plan into action.
"Here he comes," Ella whispered. "We've got it down, right?"
Miracle nodded. "I won't let you down, Mama."
Ella hugged her daughter close. "I love you, baby. No matter what happens. Remember I love you more than life itself."
"I love you too, Mommy," the girl said softly.
Fournier was in the room then and leisurely entered the cage just as another loud crack of thunder sounded.
"Well," he asked. "Have you come to a decision?"
Ella nodded, and discovered she didn't have to work at looking frightened. "Yes. Let Miracle live. Please."
He nodded slightly, and pulled out the hypodermic needle he'd failed to use on her earlier.
"As a show of good faith, I need your arm," he said softly.
"Is that the paralyzing toxin," Ella asked, her way of alerting Miracle to the fact that should she get stuck with the needle, she'd be rendered unable to move.
"Yes," he answered. "Now, give me your arm."
Ella raised her arm for him, and shot her gaze to Miracle when Fournier was focused on finding the vein in the crook of her arm. She winked at her daughter to let her know it was time to fight. And in the next instant, she grabbed the wrist of the hand holding the needle and used Fournier's leverage against him by yanking his arm as hard as she could and slamming his head into the wall behind her. The syringe went skidding across the floor and underneath Ella's bed.
Miracle flew into action then and helped tackle him to the floor. Ella climbed on top of him hoping her weight would be enough to hold him down. "The key is on his belt loop, baby. Hurry."
Miracle was already plucking the key chain from the loop on the waistband of his slacks and running for the cage's door. She quickly discovered he'd not locked it when he entered. Nearly crying out with joy, Miracle swung the iron door open and turned around to find Ella struggling against Fournier with a vengeance.
"Leave her alone," Miracle screamed as she ran back to aid her mother. Fournier shoved Ella onto her back and slammed her head against the concrete floor. She went limp instantly.
"You're not going anywhere, Ella," he taunted her unconscious form. "You're mine!"
"Leave my Mom alone, you freak!"
Miracle lunged around his neck and jammed the key into his eye socket, hindering his attack for the moment.
Fournier screamed, holding his hand to his eye and climbed to his feet. In the next instant, he'd pulled a pistol from his jacket.
Miracle had knelt beside her mother and checked her pulse when she heard the click of a gun being cocked. Slowly, she turned around to face Fournier's triumphant smirk, a handgun pointed at Ella.
"Come. Here," he growled, his rage evident. "Or I kill Ella, right now."
Her heart racing, Miracle stood to her feet and approached Fournier. She couldn't take a chance on her mother's safety.
"Leave her alone," Miracle said, resignation on her face. "Kill me instead, but please, leave my mother alone."
Fournier grinned.
"Exactly what I had in mind. Killing you will hurt her much more than anything I could ever do to her."
A tear spilled from Miracle's eye.
I won't get to say goodbye to Mom and Daddy or my new family. Or even Finn... But if it will finally end this once and for all, I have to accept it.
In the next instant, Fournier pulled another needle from his jacket pocket, uncapped it and plunged it into Miracle's neck, emptying its contents into her system. She gasped, and stumbled backward from the force he'd used. Her neck began burning horribly, and she brought her hand to her neck. When she brought her fingers away, blood was smeared across them.
"You don't have long, little girl," Fournier said, his voice low. "The little bit of time you have left is going to be full of agony. I only wish your mother was awake to see it."
"What did you give me," Miracle asked, already feeling breathless. She couldn't be sure if it was her frayed nerves or whatever Fournier had given her.
"A mixture of cobra and rattlesnake venom, with my own little special addition—insulin. In a high enough dosage, the insulin alone will cause a heart attack. You're in for a lot of pain, my dear. And I'm going to relish watching you die."
At least I have his attention off Mom, Miracle thought, noting the sharp little pains in her chest. I need to get him away from her completely though.
She turned and tried to run for the door when she felt a harsh burn sear her upper arm, then heard a loud pop from behind her not even a second later. She cried out from the pain, and ran out the door, immediately hurrying up the long flight of steps. She tried to raise her arm but it was heavy and numb and barely moved at all.
"GET BACK HERE, MIRACLE! YOU WON'T ROB ME OF YOUR DEATH!"
Miracle sobbed softly, and continued up the steps till she reached the upper landing. Looking around, she realized she was standing in a kitchen—a rustic kitchen.
A cabin, she wondered.
Her mind growing foggy, she started to make her way through the kitchen to the front of the house in hopes of escape, and leading Fournier further away from Ella.
In the next instant, she felt fingers curl into her long hair and roughly drag her up against a body. "I WILL watch you die," Fournier growled in her ear. He spun her around and gripped her arms tightly in his hands. The sudden burst of pain in her wounded arm forced a shriek from her mouth and her legs nearly buckled. Her pulse raced and she knew the mixture he'd pumped into her neck was beginning to take affect.
"Hurt," he taunted, squeezing her arm tighter.
The girl screamed again and then drew her leg back and threw her knee up into his groin as hard as she could. He howled in his pain and collapsed against the wall. Miracle turned and forced herself to run—out of the kitchen, through the living room to the front door and then out into the middle of a thunderstorm. The shock of cold, wet rain mixed with the frigid air was enough to steal her breath and set her teeth to chattering. Soaked within seconds, she inhaled and exhaled, trying in vain to slow her heart rate. Got to find help, she thought, her gaze darting over her surroundings.
Fire shot through her chest suddenly and unrelentingly. She fell to her knees, grabbing at her heart and crying out. She shivered in the grass, no longer able to defend or protect herself. Another stab of pain took her to the ground completely.
"Hurts, doesn't it," Founier chuckled from above her.
She sobbed, and attempted to crawl away from him, but his hand latched onto her wounded arm again and pulled her back, ignoring her scream of pain.
"You're already burning up with fever," Fournier commented casually. "That toxin works particularly fast. Tell me..." He squatted down beside her. "How badly does it hurt? I need to know if I should keep that one in my arsenal."
"GET AWAY FROM 'ER!"
In the next instant, a dark blur dove at Fournier, and tackled him away from Miracle.
She managed to turn her head and saw Finn standing over Fournier, his gun drawn and aimed at the psychopath's head. Her head collapsed against the ground in her relief to know Fournier was finished.
"Make ano'der move an' I'll put a bullet t'rough y'r head," Finn said, his Irish accent growing thicker. He kept his eyes on Fournier but asked Miracle, "Are ya okay, l'il lass?"
When she failed to answer, he turned his head to glance at her, and heard Fournier chuckle while he noted how pale Miracle had become. She writhed in the wet grass, crying out in pain and grasping at her chest.
"I think you need to worry less about me, and more about her," Fournier continued laughing.
Finn looked back at him, fury brewing in his blue eyes. "I t'ink ya may be right." With that, he aimed his gun at Fournier's left knee and fired.
An animal-like scream of pain tore from the man's lips and he fell back against the ground, all but sobbing.
"What did ya do to 'er," Finn demanded. "TELL ME!"
Fournier managed a pained smirk.
Finn fired his gun at Fournier's remaining knee then. And ignoring his scream of pain, shouted, "WHAT DID YA DO T' HER?!"
"Finn..." Miracle managed to speak, her voice soft and tired. When she felt Finn kneel down beside her, she continued. "He said... It was a mixture of cobra and rattlesnake venom along with insulin—to induce a heart attack. He injected it at my neck..."
"Dear God," Finn whispered, his chest rising and falling rapidly in his panic. "No, lassie..."
"It's okay," Miracle said, smiling softly despite her pain. Resignation settled in her eyes. "Mama and Daddy's safe. So are you. It's over."
"No, Miracle," Finn shook his head, his sapphire eyes pleading with hers. "Don't ya dare give up. I-" He shook his head again to clear it and grabbed his cell phone and quickly dialed a number. "This is Officer Finn Bálor wit' Seattle P.D. I'm at Sloan's Lake. I have a young woman down. She's been shot, and has been poisoned wit' snake venom—cobra and rattler—and also insulin. I need ya t' get a MediVac copter or an ambulance—whatever is the fastest—and get this girl some help. I also have the suspect apprehended so send your Denver P.D. He's wanted by the U.S. Marshalls. Do it NOW." He disconnected and put his phone away, then immediately lifted Miracle up, supporting her back and knees with his arms. "Miracle, sweetheart, I need ya t' cough—hard. Okay? And keep coughin'—every few seconds. It's similar t' CPR, it'll keep yer heart more regular until help comes and then d'ey will have d'a equipment t' help ya." He headed for the cabin, noting how hot her skin was as he carried her.
Miracle let out a cough and winced.
"I know, lass. I know it hurts. But ya have t' do it."
She managed to keep coughing as he got her inside the cabin and quickly laid her down on a sofa. "Ye're burnin' up," he whispered.
"C-cold," she whispered in reply, and then resumed coughing.
Finn snatched a shawl from the back of the sofa and wrapped it around her, then grabbed his cell again. He hit the button to call Joe and waited till the Samoan answered.
"Finn?"
"I'm here," Finn said. "I have Miracle. I haven't located Ella yet."
"Okay, we'll arrive in the next few minutes," Joe replied anxiously. "How's Miracle?"
Finn swallowed hard, not knowing how to break the news to him.
"Finn?"
"She's not doin' good, Joe. Fournier poisoned her. Are the Marshalls bringin' medical help?"
Joe was silent for a moment, and then he answered with a simple, "Yeah."
"They need to be prepared to treat her for snake venom and insulin. Fournier poisoned 'er with the intention of giving her a heart attack."
"Where is Fournier," Joe asked a little too calmly.
"He's out in front of the cabin wit' two destroyed knees."
"We can see the cabin now, we're starting to go down."
The line went dead at the same time Finn heard a noise coming from the kitchen.
"What are you doing to my daughter?!"
Finn turned around to find Ella Seanoa looking dazed, very pregnant, and pointing a gun at him.

Chapter Thirty-Nine
"Yes, Jeff, we finally have a lead," Joe smiled as he talked to Jeff on his cell phone. "Just don't get your hopes up yet. I'm not sure Mrs. Fournier—or Ms. Jameson as she's going by now—will know anything about where he is right now." He looked over at Matthew, who was driving the SUV they'd rented, and asked, "How far are we from her home?"
"About five more minutes," Matthew answered, looking at the GPS.
"Okay, Jeff, I need to go. We're fixing to reach her house."
"I still think I should have gone with you guys," Jeff said.
"I know that's what you wanted, Jeff," Joe reasoned. "But think about it. If Fournier is keeping an eye on us, that could be a dangerous move. It's okay for me to go because I already have the time off. But, if you took time off out of nowhere, it'd look strange and could alert Fournier to be on the lookout. It's better this way."
"You're right, I know," Jeff replied. "I just feel so useless with nothing to do to help."
"You're not useless, Jeff, you're just unable to be here right now," Joe replied. "There's a big difference." He noticed Matthew was slowing to a stop, and realized they'd reached Ms. Jameson's house. "Listen Jeff, we're here, so I've gotta go. I'll call you when we're through and let you know if I find anything out."
The two men disconnected the call and then Matthew pulled to a full stop in front of an average sized home.
"This it," Joe asked, pocketing his cell phone.
"Yep," Matthew said, killing the engine. "You ready?"
"More than I can say," Joe answered. "I just hope we get some answers."
Matthew nodded as they both exited the car and headed for the house's front porch.
Joe knocked on the door and only a few seconds later, the door opened to reveal an auburn-haired woman who was approaching middle age.
"Can I help you," she asked, eyeing both Joe and Matthew wearily.
"Ms. Jameson," Matthew spoke first and used her alias so as not to frighten her initially, "We have a few questions in regard to a kidnapping that we're sure your husband is responsible for."
"I'm sorry," she said softly, "You have the wrong person. I'm not married."
She started to close the door when Joe stuck his foot out and prevented the door from shutting. Then he barged his way in with Matthew right behind him.
We have no time for 'subtle', Joe thought as Matthew calmly clicked the door shut so as not to frighten the woman any more than they had to. She's not the enemy, he reminded himself. She can't help what her husband turned out to be.
"We can do this the easy way, or the hard way," he finally told her. "But either way you choose, you are going to help us. We're not going to hurt you, Ms. Jameson, but we know exactly who you are. You're married to Jacques Fournier and you went into the Witness Relocation Program when he became abusive and you found out he was a criminal.
"Please, I don't know anything," Ms. Jameson cried. "Please, don't kill me."
Matthew and Joe realized she must have thought they were in organized crime and that they were looking for her husband.
"We're not who you think," Matthew spoke up. "Why don't we sit down and talk. You won't be scared of us once you know why we're here."
"O-okay," Ms. Jameson stammered shakily, and then led them to her living room and motioned for them to have a seat on the large sofa while she took an armchair. "What's this about exactly?"
Joe looked over at Matthew, "Is it okay if I take over for now?" At Matthew's nod, Joe turned back to Ms. Jameson and began explaining their presence in her home. "Ms. Jameson, when you faked your death and went into the Witness Relocation Program, the U.S. Marshals used a surgeon to pretend he'd operated on you but was unsuccessful in saving you, do you remember that?"
She nodded wordlessly, seemingly afraid that by verbally acknowledging her involvement with the Witness Relocation Program, Fournier would pop out somewhere and kill her right then and there.
"Well, that surgeon—Dr. Roberts—was targeted because he failed to save you. Fournier blamed him and planned, over the span of three years, to murder both Dr. Roberts and his wife. And then he wanted to kidnap their eighteen-year-old daughter and get her pregnant. In his warped mind he was rightfully taking what was his. Dr. Roberts killed you, so he was going to kill his wife and him. Dr. Roberts killed his unborn child, so he was going to replace the child by using the doctor's daughter, Ella, and getting her pregnant. Fournier even went as far as to murder the innocent man whom posed as the drunken driver."
"Oh, my God," Ms. Jameson whispered. "But…how did you come to know all this," she asked. "This was all in a sealed file for my protection."
"Let's just say I'm really good with computers," Matthew answered. "And that's another reason why you should help us get him, Ms. Jameson. If I can get into that file, so can he."
She gasped, realization dawning.
Joe went on, eager to get her to understand the dire situation fully.
"Ms. Jameson, Ella was my best friend when we were younger. After she recovered from Fournier's first kidnapping attempt—during which she almost died—she became my wife. But only for a few short hours. We found out that Fournier was making another attempt to kidnap her on our wedding night. Later on that night, during a distraction, Ella took the opportunity to run away and fake her death. I just stumbled across her a few months ago, and so did Fournier. He tried to kill our daughter who I'd only found out about minutes before, and then very nearly killed me with a gunshot to the chest. And to top it all off, he finally succeeded in taking Ella."
"I don't understand," Ms. Jameson said, her forehead wrinkling with confusion. "I mean, I'm very sorry for what's happened to you and your wife and your daughter and anyone else he's hurt, but what do you think I can do to help?"
"I know there are no guarantees by meeting with you," Joe answered. "But I'm hoping you could tell me of any properties or homes your husband owns—somewhere he might be keeping my wife. Do you know of-"
At that moment his cellphone alerted him to an incoming text message. He pulled out the phone and read the message.
"Daddy, I'm SO glad you found Mom! Me and Uncle Jeff can't wait to meet you in Denver! Tell Mama I love her! I love you both so much!"
Matthew knew something had gone terribly wrong when the large Samoan's face paled drastically.
"Joe…" he started.
"Dear God," Joe cried under his breath. "Miracle… I think Fournier has her now."
"Miracle," questioned Ms. Jameson.
"My daughter," Joe clarified. "She texted me that she's happy I found her mother and that she and Jeff can't wait to meet me in Denver. He must have tricked her somehow. He's taking her to Denver, or at least tricked her into thinking she's meeting me there."
"Denver," Ms. Jameson spoke again. "He does have a home in Denver. A very private place right on Sloan's Lake."
"You're sure," Joe questioned. "Could you take us to it?"
She paled drastically, "I-I can tell you where it is…"
"No," Joe cut her off. "Please, I need you to lead us there. I can't take the chance on misunderstanding directions. We can get the U.S. Marshals involved. You'll be safe, Ms. Jameson. Just please, be brave and help my wife and daughter. I know this isn't your fault, but you have an obligation to me." There was fire in Joe's eyes when he spoke again. "I will NOT lose my wife again. And I am not going to lose my daughter when I've hardly gotten to be with her much at all."
Shuddering, Ms. Jameson nodded her head slightly, "Okay. Let me call the U.S. Marshals. The men who helped me escape left me they're contact information should something ever go wrong in my new location. I think this qualifies as an emergency."
As she made the call, Joe quickly made a call to Miracle's cellphone. It rang till it went to her voicemail.
He cursed under his breath and called Jeff to make sure he wasn't in danger as well.
"What'd you find out," Jeff asked in way of greeting.
"Jeff, are you okay? Have you talked to Miracle?"
Jeff sounded baffled, "No. She's in school. Why would- Oh, God… What's happened?"
"I think Fournier has her, Jeff. She left me a text saying how glad she was I'd found Ella and that she and you were both excited to meet us in Denver.
Jeff cursed, "Joe, I'm so sorry. We were being so careful."
"It's not your fault, Jeff. Don't blame yourself. Fortunately, his wife has confirmed he owns a home in Denver. We're getting the U.S. Marshals involved. We're bringing them home, Jeff. I swear on my life. They're coming home."
As soon as he hung up, his phone rang again. Seeing it was Finn calling him, he immediately answered the phone. "Where is Miracle?"
"Joe, I'm so sorry," Finn began. "He took 'er—Fournier. He somehow disguised his voice over the phone—she swore it was Jeff talking to 'er. He said you'd found Ella and d'at ya wanted them t' meet them at the Denver airport. I was skeptical, but waited for Jeff with her. Three men busted out of the car and attacked me. I told her t' run, but the stubborn lass wouldn't listen. She tried t' help me. I'm so sorry."
Joe tried to calm his racing heart, and spoke softly, "I know. It'll be fine. Listen, Finn... We think he's really holding them in Denver. Matt and I are speaking with his wife, and she confirmed that he has a very private place on Sloan's Lake.
"I'm meetin' ya there," Finn said instantly.
"That's not necessary, Finn. We'll get them both-"
"It's necessary to me," the Irishman retorted. "This is personal for me now. She trusted me t' keep her safe, and I failed her. I may not get to be the one to save 'er, but I'm sure going to be there so I can apologize to 'er. I'm. Coming. To. Denver."
"Okay then," Joe replied, impressed with the younger man. "We'll see you soon."
The two men hung up and hurriedly began preparing for their trip.

"Get away from me," Ella screamed, slapping at Fournier's hand.
He held a hypodermic needle full of the paralyzing toxin he'd developed, and was trying to inject her with it. Ella could only presume he meant to paralyze her so he could more easily murder her unborn baby.
He slapped her face, but did back off. Her relief was short-lived as he smirked at her.
"Fine," he said, giving up a little too easily, "I think I have just the thing that will change your mind." And with that, he left her alone with the unspoken promise of his imminent return.
She trembled with fear, knowing he'd not give up till her child was dead. She feared he'd bring Jeff, or Nina, or her cousins in next to torture her with.
But, no. To her horror, he returned, dragging Miracle behind him. She watched in speechless horror as he unlocked her door and flung the girl into the cage with her. Terrified of what would happen to her daughter, Ella broke down into a fit of heart-broken sobs.
"Mama," Miracle cried, and latched onto her mother. "Thank God! You're alive!"
"Oh, lo'u alofa, I wish you weren't here," Ella cried, hugging her daughter back.
"You have a choice to make, Ella," Fournier cut in on their bittersweet reunion. "The baby can die, or they both die. You have an hour to decide." He turned and exited the cage, then locked it behind him before shutting the exterior door and disappearing from sight.
"The baby," Miracle asked, wrinkling her forehead in confusion. It was then that her gaze fell to Ella's well-rounded stomach.
"Oh, my God," she whispered. "You're pregnant."
Ella nodded and bit back a sob as she stroked her hand lovingly over her stomach, "It's a little boy. He's your father's."
Oh, Joe. I miss you so much, she thought. She didn't mention his name for fear of bringing more sadness to Miracle's eyes. And besides, she had to focus on the situation at hand.
Saving both her children.
"Baby," she whispered, in case Fournier had the room bugged. "How did he get you?"
"Well," Miracle started, "He got me at school. He somehow made himself sound like Uncle Jeff on the phone. He told me you were found and that we needed to leave to meet you and Daddy in Denver."
"Denver," Ella repeated. "So, we're in Denver?"
"I think so," Miracle replied. "It's really cold outside.
Ella frowned, "That'll make it hard for us to escape. We don't have coats or anything."
"Mommy, what can we do," Miracle asked. "There's got to be something we can do to stop him."
"There's only one thing we can do," Ella replied, gathering her courage one last time, for her children. "We have to fight—both of us. We have to fight with everything we have."
They began whispering, planning out their line of attack.

Joe looked down at the earth below the helicopter he rode in as he traveled along with Matthew and Ms. Jameson and a large team of U.S. Marshals. They were headed for Denver and due to arrive in the next hour. Lightning flashed, and every now and then the helicopter would rock back and forth due to the turbulence.
He heard one of the marshals address him through the headphones he wore.
"Mr. Seanoa, I need your word right now. When we get to the location, you're to hang back. Stay in the chopper. This mission isn't your responsibility—it's ours. Am I clear?"
Joe met the U.S. Marshal's gaze head-on, "What? Are you going to abort rescuing my wife and daughter if I don't abide by your terms?"
"No, of course not. But we can have you placed under arrest."
"Fine," Joe growled, carefully evading the initial request.
He had no intention of staying in the helicopter.
There's no way I'm staying here when my wife and daughter need me, he thought. He wasn't sure yet how he'd do it, but he'd have to get past the marshals. They will not stop me from going to them, he vowed. I will not rest till I have them safe in my arms again.

Chapter Thirty-Eight
Several Weeks Later...
"Yes! This is what I've been waiting for," shouted Matthew Wilson as he typed furiously on his laptop.
After two long months of working nearly around the clock, he'd finally broken into the federal court's databases. His hand twitched with the want to call Joe right away, but he knew he needed to look through the file and gather the information which could help them find Ella first.
He scanned the screen, hunting for anything which would possibly help shed some light on the case.
"Telisa Fournier…married to Jacques Fournier…" Matthew read bits and pieces of the file aloud. "Ah, a domestic abuse report…" He pulled up the full report and read it through. He quickly discovered that Mrs. Fournier was being abused because she wasn't becoming pregnant right away. His wife soon became suspicious of his actions outside their home, and began researching her husband online.
"Oh, my God," Matthew ground out. "His name wasn't really Fournier either." He read on to find out about how Jacques Fournier's name was actually Colin Faletti. "He's Italian, not French…" Matthew assumed out loud. Knowing he'd get more accomplished by reading silently and taking notes, he bit off the urge to read aloud and get sidetracked.
Nearly an hour later, he came to a chunk of information he knew he couldn't keep quiet about. Snatching up his cell phone, he quickly called Joe.
"Matthew? What've you found out," Joe asked in way of greeting.
"I finally broke into the Federal Court's databases today. She's not dead, Joe. Fournier's wife is alive!"
"What?! What are you talking about?"
"Let me get this all out," Matthew instructed, his voice shaking with excitement. "I found a report of domestic abuse in their marriage. It turns out Telisa Fournier wasn't getting pregnant right away, and Fournier began beating her as a result. Telisa grew terrified of him, and also began wondering if one of them had reproductive issues since she wasn't getting pregnant. So they each went to a reproductive therapist and had tests run. She apparently was fine, and it was Fournier who had the problem. The therapist relayed the information to her and she was afraid of how Fournier would react to news of his being sterile, so she took the blame and begged the therapist to help her."
"So, he can't have kids?" "Nope."
On one hand Joe was relieved. But on the other hand, he was afraid of what the man had put Ella through over the past few months—especially if he grew frustrated at her.
"This is all in the file," Matthew said. "She'd also suspected him of illegal activities outside their home. So, then she did some research on him, and found out that his name isn't even Fournier. He's actually Colin Faletti. He's Italian and is tied into the mob."
"Yes, I remember years ago, a couple of detectives warned us about that," Joe said, his voice growing worried.
"It turns out there are several organized crime leaders who are actually afraid of this guy. Telisa found him on the U.S. Marshals' Most Wanted list. So then, she hatched a plan. She lied and told Fournier she was pregnant, and then contacted the U.S. Marshals with information on him. She began to work with them to catch Fournier, however, something went wrong and she had to resort to faking her death, like Ella. The U.S. Marshals set up a fake car accident and got Ella's dad in on it. They had him pretend he'd operated on Telisa and failed to save her. And then, Telisa went into the Witness Relocation Program."
"Oh, my God," Joe uttered. "Nathan and Andrea absolutely died for nothing."
"Exactly," Matthew agreed. "And-"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Joe cut him off. "Did you just say she went into the Witness Relocation Program?"
Matthew smiled, glad to see Joe was evidently thinking the same as he was, "Yes, I did."
"Does the file say where she is?"
Matthew's smile broadened, "Yes, it does. She's in Chicago."
"We need to go see her," Joe said immediately.
"I know," Matthew replied. "Do you want me to book the flights, or do you want to?"
"I can do it," Joe replied. "Can you get over here to the house? I'd like to leave as soon as possible."
"Consider me leaving now," Matthew smiled. "I'll be there shortly."
"Thank you so much," Joe said softly.
"Thank me when we have info on where Ella is," Matthew replied. "We still have a ways to go."
"Alright, see you in a bit."
The two men hung up then, and Matthew began hurriedly throwing a few clothes into a suitcase.
}i{}i{}i{}i{
Fournier watched as Dr. Ford, whom he'd hired to test the paternity of Ella's baby, used a long needle to puncture her rounded stomach and penetrate the baby's amniotic sac.
Ella cried out in pain and fought the urge to pull away from the doctor's hands.
"Please, try to be still, Ella," Dr. Ford instructed as he continued working. "It's very important you stay still or I could hurt the baby."
Ella sobbed, but nodded, not wanting to do anything to endanger the baby—even if it was Fournier's.
It's not the baby's fault who its father is, she thought, trying to think about anything but the pain. She thought back to the day's events that had led her to the current torture she was in.
Fournier had suddenly burst into her cage that morning and began ranting about the night he'd kidnapped her.
"You were both covered in marks that night! You had sex! This baby may be his! I have to know if it's mine, or his!"
And with that, he quickly arranged for a doctor to come in to perform an amniocentesis.
And here she was going through excruciating pain, and the fear of what would happen to her baby if it was Joe's.
Even so, I can't help but hope it's Joe's, she thought helplessly. I would never hate or resent a baby—even if it turns out to be Fournier's, but I want it to be Joe's baby so badly.
Finally, the procedure was over, and Ella finally relaxed back against her pillows.
"I want results within an hour," Fournier ordered as the doctor packed up his instruments and materials.
"Yes, sir," Dr. Ford replied. "I'll call you with them soon."
And with that, he left and Ella was alone with Fournier once again.
"If the baby is your husband's…it must die."
Ella's gaze shot up to his, "I will not let you kill my baby. Whether it's yours or Joe's. I will fight you to the death on this, Fournier."
"We'll see," was his reply. He smirked at her, then left the cell, unknowingly blessing her with solitude.
Any other time she would have prayed. But she'd finally succumbed to the loss of her faith. She couldn't take any more.
What seemed like hardly an hour, Fournier returned to her cell.
"The baby isn't mine. It's Seanoa's."
Tears filled Ella's eyes. Tears of happiness that she'd not given this monster what he wanted, tears of happiness that she had another of Joe's children growing inside her, and tears of sadness and fear because she had no idea how to protect her baby.
I just have to, she told herself.
"It's a boy."
Ella closed her eyes and tried to will a calmness over herself.
A little boy…
"I realize you'll try to put up a fight against me for the sake of your child," Fournier went on. "But it will be futile. I will win, Ella. I always do."
He watched her lay against her pillows and weep softly. I think it's time to use her daughter one last time, he thought. I'll bring her here and promise to let her live if Ella decides to give up her baby. And if she does let me kill the baby… I'll kill Miracle anyway. She wasn't supposed to have happened in the first place!
He left the cell again, and Ella could only cry herself to sleep.
}i{}i{}i{}i{
Miracle sat quietly in the library during study hall, trying to keep her mind on her pre-algebra homework, but she kept finding her focus diverted to the giggling gossip of her friends. They huddled at the round table, and discussed what boys they had crushes on and whether they thought the boys liked them back.
"Who do you like, Miracle," Kristin asked, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Oh, I..." Miracle stuttered, unsure how to answer the question. "I don't really have my eye on anyone at the moment." Her gaze subtly shifted over to Finn standing as her bodyguard in the corner of the large library.
She gave him a shy smile when he caught her gaze, and felt her face flame. She attempted to refocus on her current math problem when she heard her friends begin quietly giggling again. She looked up to see them all staring at her.
"So that's why you don't have a crush here at school," Kristin whispered. "You have a crush on your bodyguard!"
Miracle started to protest when another of her friends—Melissa Downs—chimed in.
"I don't blame her. He. Is. HOT!"
Before Miracle knew it, the whole table was weighing in with their whispered opinions of her protector.
"He's got a definite mysterious thing going on. I like it!"
"I love his accent!"
Miracle wished she could just fall into a hole and never be seen again. Finn had to have heard them, she thought. I'm so embarrassed!
But to her relief, she glanced back at him and saw that he was casually flipping through a magazine and showed no indication he'd heard the girls' conversation.
She watched him for a couple minutes, admiring his tall, muscled frame. Truthfully, she thought Finn was gorgeous, with his short dark brown hair and vivid blue eyes, but she knew he was in no way interested in her. After all, he was twenty-eight years old and she wasn't even quite fourteen yet. But a girl can dream, she thought sadly, looking down at her math book. She remembered how it felt when she'd been so frightened to see her mother's tattoo's stuffed into those little baggies. She didn't quite remember screaming, but the next thing she knew, Finn was there holding her in his strong arms and whispering soft, beautiful Gaelic words to her in that Irish accent of his.
She heard a light buzzing sound, and noticed Finn taking his phone out of his pocket and glancing at it. He looked stumped for a moment, and then glanced at Miracle. He signaled to her that he'd be right back, and then went out into the hallway to take a call.
The intercom speaker crackled above the class' heads and the office secretary spoke loudly, "Miracle Seanoa, you have a phone call on line three." She repeated the message again to ensure Miracle heard it.
Miracle stood and collected her books, preparing to leave the library when the librarian informed her she could take the call at the circulation desk if she wanted. Opting to save some footwork, Miracle laid her things down and walked to the desk to take the call.
"Hello," Miracle greeted the caller. "This is Miracle."
"Miracle, it's Uncle Jeff. Listen, we've found your mother. She's on her way home with Joe. We're supposed to meet them at the airport in Denver. I'll be by the school in about ten minutes to pick you up."
"Oh, my God! You've found her," Miracle cried, shaking with relief. "How? She was in Denver? Did the cops catch Fournier?"
"Yeah… They found her at an abandoned cabin in Colorado…Joe said the cops did catch Fournier. So, it's over, baby! We can all move on with our lives now."
"I'm so happy," Miracle exclaimed. "I can't wait to see them!"
"I know, hon! I'm not far from your school. So, get your things and meet me out front, okay? I'm in a rental car—a gold Chevy Tahoe."
"Okay," she said, hardly able to contain herself. "I'll be waiting."
She hung up and hurried back to the table where she grabbed up her cell phone. She quickly sent a text to Joe to let him know how happy she was. She typed out the text, then quickly snapped her phone shut and pocketed it. Lastly, she grabbed up her things and said goodbye to her friends, then exited the library instantly spotting Finn on his phone a few feet away.
"Okay, I'm on the way," he was saying. He hung up the phone and noticed her hurrying toward him.
"Finn," she exclaimed. "They found Mom! I've got to leave with Uncle Jeff to go meet her and Daddy at the airport."
He looked highly skeptical.
"I would'a been contacted, Miracle," he stated, touching her shoulder lightly. "My job right now is t' protect you. Your uncle wouldn't just call you and tell you to leave wit'out leaving word with me first."
"B-but..." Miracle stammered, desperate for the news to be true. "Uncle Jeff said they found her in Colorado—we were to meet her and Daddy at the Denver airport. They said Fournier was caught."
"Are you sure t'was your uncle?"
"Yes," she cried. "It was his voice—One hundred percent his voice."
"I don't like this, lass. Something is going on." He paused and ran his hand over the back of his neck. "Okay, I was called from dispatch and told my captain wants to see me. But, I'll go wait for Jeff with you first. If he shows up and verifies all this, fine, you can go. If he doesn't... well, then you're sticking with me. Got it?"
"Got it," she replied.
Seconds later, they exited the building so they could keep an eye out for the gold Chevy Tahoe.
Minutes later, it pulled in front of the school and stopped in front of them. She squinted, trying to make out Jeff's face. All she could see was pale blond hair and sunshades, but the windows were too tinted to make out anything else.
Suddenly, the back doors opened on the vehicle and three men piled out and immediately attacked Finn.
"MIRACLE! RUN," he shouted, countering their attacks right and left.
"No," she screamed, pulling a canister of pepper spray from her jeans pocket. "I'm not leaving you!" She proceeded to spray the can at one of the men who threw a punch at Finn's head. It gave Finn the edge he needed to take the man down and smack his head into the pavement.
"HURRY UP!"
Fournier's voice rang out from the vehicle, and Miracle turned to see his cold eyes staring daggers at her. She felt a pair of arms go around her then, and a cloth was slapped over her nose and mouth. She cried out and struggled, but the man wouldn't release her. She tried to scream, but it just came out as a muffled moan.
She dragged in a harsh breath to scream again, and instantly went limp as her muscles betrayed her. The urge to sleep slammed into her, and all the fight left her.
"MIRACLE! NO! LET 'ER GO, YA-!"
She was vaguely aware of Finn shouting for her and felt the cloth being lifted from her face briefly. She was tossed into the Tahoe. Doors slammed shut, and then she felt the sensation of the car speeding away.
"Finn..." she mumbled sleepily and tried to thrash in the hopes of waking herself up. "Please, help me... Find me... Finn... Can't stay... awake..."
"Shut her up," Fournier's voice snapped. "Finish drugging her, and tie her up. She's as feisty as her mother."
Miracle felt the cloth slide back over her nose and mouth, and then her world slowly faded to black.
