International Artist Feature: Panama
Welcome back to our International Artist Series.
Today, we're catching up with four amazing artists from Panama, a Central American country with incredible history and culture. I asked each artist how their region and culture influenced their work, and they delivered great responses.
Reyniel Caldera
Let's begin with Reyniel Caldera, a fantastic multidisciplinary designer currently living in Panama. Originally from Venezuela, he creates 3D illustrations of incredible futuristic and otherworldly scenes.
See more in his portfolio.
Alien Burger
Panamá brings to me the possibilities to explore different environments. It's where I love to visit and walk for hours. The Casco Viejo is one of those places where I love to come on the weekends; the diversity of people and cultures that you can know here is a unique experience.

Simple City
I think Panamá is a place where you can find unique stories from different places and people. This is a key thing that I think is a big inspiration for my work, although sometimes I create a mix of everything.

Re-Born
Being an immigrant that comes from Venezuela, I've been living in Panamá for four years now, and I can say I've had unique opportunities for working with amazing people.
Art here is the same as Freedom. The creative community comes from everywhere in the world to share ideas, projects, new techniques and knowledge. In every place you go, you will find a piece of art in the subway, streets and buildings.

Alexander Barranco
Next is Alexander Barranco, a graphic designer and art director with an incredible way with color. Enjoy his fascinating print work made for local and international brands.
See more in his portfolio.
GOD
I personally love a lot about living in Panamá, but what I love the most is how easily the different cultures get mixed, there's a lot of people from all around the world coming to work, live and enjoy Panamá. That along with the strong Caribbean local culture, the food, and the fashion, all get melted into a unique vibe.

Acto, Edificio Mónaco
I think my work is often very different within itself, but certainly where I live right now has added a lot of color to my work and a constant necessity of mixing styles. Never going one way for too long, always combining.

Songs & Fonts
The art community here is growing, it has that energy and strength of a young art community. There are things happening everywhere, from talks to expos and even street art.
Panamá is awakening, strong.

Fernando Tuñón
Illustrator and art director Fernando Tuñón shares his awesome illustrations inspired by our favorite pop culture references. Enjoy this selection of creative characters, concepts, and fan art ideas below.
See more in his portfolio.
Street Samurai
What I enjoy the most about Panamá is that no matter where you go, you will always find someone you know. In the strange case that you find yourself all alone then Panamanians got you covered, we are incredibly friendly and warm people, ready to make conversation and have a great laugh.

Illustration
I grew up in the 90s. Just in the middle of an explosion of cartoons on TV every day and right at the advent of mainstream video games. Absorbing all those images and animation from all over the world made me fall in love with art in general.

ARCADE
The aesthetic sense of Panama is usually based on nature and local folklore but I have lived in the city all my life—where buildings and social life are the norm, so I focus more on the urban side of Panamanian life.
The Panama art scene is still in its infancy but right now it´s better than ever. We all try to make the best art possible so people can enjoy it and since we are all friends we collaborate and help each other a lot.
ARCADE
Juan García
Our final feature belongs to Juan García, a 3D designer and art director currently living in Panama, Panama. With a wide variety of digital art skills, he brings epic, hyper-realistic 3D scenes to life.
See more in his portfolio and follow him on Instagram.
Dirty Mercedes
I am originally from Colombia and my artistic background belongs more to South America than Central American cultures. I think that talking in an artistic way we are very different.

KAMSA
My culture has had influence over my work in the way that me becoming a very resourceful and creative artist has a lot to do with making great things with less resources.

Saimus Character
The 3D community here is very limited but the 3D community around the world is enough for me. There are a lot of artists always willing to help others in many different aspects.

Many thanks to the artists who took the time to answer my questions and share a bit about themselves and how their country and/or culture has affected their work. You can check out more of their work in the links below:
