do you ever just have this debate with one of your selves about the the extent to which writers can tell how gay something is
#because for instance#kelsey liveblogs person of interest#the episode where scarface dies amps up the subtext between elias and tony to practically text#and not in a could-be-read-as-family-like way#long story short it's clear they're married to one another#but...at the same time...there have been instances where things have been as gay or gayer#or showrunners have explicitly denied it#or heck even a straight example where jonah nolan said that apparently reese wasn't supposed to be in love with carter#which he totally was (thanks jim)#so if that level of obliviousness is possible even to a f/m romance#it's quite possible that no one thought 'gosh this reads like a romantic relationship'

love him or hate him, you do have to admit tony went out as best as he can. by taking down as much of his enemies as possible. he took how many bullets before getting down? 15, 20? wow. that took superhuman grit. alas, his fate is sealed and the man must go face down in a pool.
i fucking love this movie. to finish this off, i think i want to say how fascinating that his one act of mercy is the thing that ends him. i'd like to see it as a condemnation of sorts, that to be truly rich, to be powerful in the world, the only way to do that is to be cruel and trampled everyone and everything, even if it caused untold collateral damage. tony failed because he couldnt cross a moral line of his. its like a critique of capitalism, that to be a millionare or a billionare is inherently immoral because the kind of things you have to do just to accumulate that much wealth. welp, after this, i think i'll try watching something where pacino is a good guy. or maybe i'll watch a horror movie. i love scary stuff.

i love, love the contrast between his calm and collected body language whenever he brought a gun at the start and the middle of the movie compared to the frantic movement of his hands at the end as he assembled the automatic weapons.

pacino's performance is pretty good but his phone call scene is... man. the accents all over the place. sometimes it even sounds like his other characters accents are mixing in? not really a good scene in my opinion
