Captains Log No.30__Waxing Gibbous

Lately Wav and I have been getting our foundations reset on the grid. We lost our settlements from before and decided to try something now and different this time around. Working and connecting with the Meroe team has been a dream! I honestly couldn’t have imagined that i’d actually get to work with the people that created such an amazing place. Ive not felt this excitement in my heart on SL since living in Commune Utopia back in the day.

They had a sweet little gathering for all the Meroe volunteers recently, it was so nice chatting about Pan African efforts and building on our individual experiences being in the diaspora. & dancing to my favorite afrobeat and amapiano music! Meroe really got the DJs that play that full diaspora music that you dont hear often on the grid! Its really amazing that we have made it this far as a collective and I am so excited about the next phase of the movement. I can feel the ancestors and freedom fighters before us smiling down and laughing because they never would have guessed the movement would continue in such a way, over the metaverse! But here we are!!

They offer housing for volunteers and its absolutelt stunning modern villa by the sea. Its our very own Wakanda and its like we are living on the outskirts of the  palace XD. I chill here while I write up scripts and practice for tour guiding in the near future! Its a long time coming but all in divine timing.

Bae and I have also been putting in work editing our music video commission we’ve been working on. This being the final leg has been so rewarding and we have been juiced up with creative spark. We have an assignment to make this video in the vibes of 90s rock video, and we went back over some big ones from back then like Nirvana, No Doubt, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers and we noticed that the way we shot our video is literally spot on. Thats given us way more confidence the editing is going to take it to the next level. This will be our best work yet and it will only get better from here! We are learning how to flow with the editing aspect now that we’ve figured out our shooting styles. All I want is to be included, I think Wav gets it now. XD

The Beach at Jamrock City which is the sim Meroe is housed in, is so peaceful and just a dream. It reminds me of the histories about beach towns here in Cali that were owned and inhabited by Black people only. So many of our communities and villages were just burned to the ground, Jamrock city is bringing back the spirit of the lost black townships. I chill on the beach and do work there now. I dont know why but somehow logging into SL makes me motivated to finish RL work... its like making it into a game to finish tasks because im RPing it through Foxey. Of course I had to put up an altar for Jimi in our Meroe villa. Its such a cute space and Gigi lightly sprinkled it with furni already and allowed us like 100prims. We are super grateful and want to invite our SL friends to hang with us at Meroe now at our little space. I feel like this land should be one of those places that you just go and chill at because you know youll find like minded, open minded peaceful people there. The vision is manifesting!

Took bae to Bassline Junkies turntable, which is a really amazing stage that is actually a table in a music producers room thats full of weed. So basically you are standing on the  laptop and DJ decks but as a miniture. Its scaled like “honey I shrunk the kids” vibes. This was MFCyte, he really went off with the DNB vibes and I love the avi! I have been going to bassline since I first started on SL, its really amazing that after 11 years I can still come here and find the same vibes and share the experience with bae. I wont show the whole room because thats something you gotta look up and explore yourself! Its worth it! We also got our dream beach house in Fakrava, they added a whole other sim of more high end mansion like beach homes and we HAD to tap in... Especially because our girl Shayla hooked us up and built a custom home for us. We are so ready to entertain, next phase is inviting people over and spending more time! I think initially in SL there is a fear about talking to people because a lot of times they straight up dont respond or have some strange attitude about meeting new people. So you have to keep trying and allow your heart not to get hardened by those kind of interactions. The open and vulnerable are still around and thats why Im super grateful whenever I meet real down to Earth and easy-going people. Meroe is the spot where them vibes will converge. Inshallah!!

Blog 2- Ariadne Zoo

Today my friend’s, Argenta and Tommy, came with me to this beautiful Zoo sim called Ariadne Zoo. I always have had such a hard time with rl zoos due to my big heart, but there is the conflict of wanting to see the animals! This sim is a must see. It is riddled with games, realistic animesh animals, and includes several parks to take your little one. There are several spots to take a variety of photos and the music in the background is calm and fits the sim. Each of the animal spots explain a little about each animal. The sim wouid be a wonderful place to go on a date, stroll when you are bored and no friends are online, or if you are looking for cute family photos. This is a 2 sim place that is well done with hours of entertainment. Included in the sim is a hot air balloon ride, swan boats, and even a a little boardwalk with a ferris wheel. It also has a beach area and a pic nic spot.. it felt like the more deep we went- the more there was to do. There is also a game area with bowling, mini golf, and board games.

Captains Log No.4

Ive been enjoying my time getting reacquainted w SL, I find myself at times getting impatient with the process. I want all my dreams to happen at once! Seeing all the avenues that are available in SL these days has inspired me so much! I want to revamp my shop and really do more with it and I cant wait to get into it! Anything I cant find available, that I like... thas what ima make.

I have been decorating my houseboat. I love it! Its the perfect size for me at this time and I like the spot where its at because its very quiet and I can sail the surrounding seas. Living there Ive discovered so many legit sims, a few of them are OG sims that probably have been around as long as SL has since they are built by the founding Linden folk. It makes me feel so close to the history and legacy of SL and I love that feeling.

A lot of the decor in my houseboat is stuff that I have found while exploring SL like my lil Linden bear made by Patch Linden and left to find in the middle of the ocean. I also have lots of ancient Egyptian artifacts that I dug up/ bought w game tickets at Silk Road 2021! Such a great sim!

The porthole I got at Silk Road 2021 it has a moving gif as the window, there are two other ones one has mermaids swimming, they’re so cool and were free.99! There was a whole storyline about this tomb of Nefertiti that was sunken and protected by Merfolk and resurfaced, I love the imagination as well as the historical accuracy involved in the whole thing. I say accurate because if you know the history of Nagas it makes sense that merfolk are associated with Ancient Egyptians.

Noir Jamaica resort is the perfect vacay spot!! They got all the foods, weeds and fun activities! A spa! I got to take my yacht out and go sailing with the fam and we went swimming with dolphins! Taxi To Noir Jamaica

Went in on the Oxtail plate, baby Yemi is forever hooked to her papa.

Using LifeStorii Xeolife cooking stuffs! Im obsessed and have been makin meals! You can put this system on top of any kitchen and it makes it functional! The different things you want to cook come in expansion packs! Check out the inworld store! Def a must!

Captains Log 11_ Black Excellence @ Meroe Museum

I started a draft of this post idek where it went lol. End of Feb was dope I finally had a chance to check out the Meroe Museum and loved every moment! That sim is spectacular and built to the nines. I used to envision what a black museum in SL would be like and when I learned we had one I was so excited. I am now joined up with their group and excited to attend events there. Hell, I would love to work there and hold tours because black and African history is one of my forte.

But the way I teach our history is different. We were not brought to the Americas as slaves. We came here before Columbus by way of Mauritania and West Africa. We started the first trade routes out of what is modern day Europe and North Africa. We were the wealthiest in the world brought gold to the Yucatan, we created EL Dorado. Califaland was inhabited by US. We had a black queen here in what is now America... The history we have been taught is apart of an agenda and it is programming. The way our laws and govt is set up has anyone who claims to be black under laws that make you a prisoner of war. Which is why the justice system treats us unfairly. Because most black people have not proclaimed their true nationality as indigenous peoples of this land. We must continue the footsteps of Marcus Garvey the forerunner of our collective liberation. Ase. I’m not saying this because it sounds nice! Asiatics must wake up so we can take up the staff of our sovereignty!

Side note: Ancient KMT there was a goddess that was the patron of Beer called  Nephthys . We are the first to make beer and it is partially responsible for the agricultural revolution of mankind.

I taught him how to play cheesy for the first time, we both got beat by the orange npc and tried to beat his ass after lol .

Captains Log No.6_ SL Burn2 “Emergence”

So if you have ever heard of Burning Man and thought “I wannaa go but its so far/I cant afford it/ I hate the sand!” you can still get that similar experience and check out Burn2 in SL as your primer! This month their theme was all about emerging, which I feel heavily. I was greeted by one of the volunteers and she gave me a bunch of gifts and information about the events, such a breath of fresh air to encounter nice cheerful and helpful people.

My new friend! She also built a very cool digital lotus exhibit with digital art posted all around it! A dope concept!

I do feel throughout all these dark and uncertain times there have been moments where my hope and faith in humanity have been restored. Little things like my elderly neighbor checking up on me, community weekly food handouts being implemented in my hood we even have local fridges and people that keep them going, there have been people stepping up to help in little ways and that brings me hope. Restrictions breed creativity.

What I love about Burning Man is the culture behind it, when it first began it was very much about community, sharing, and coexisting harmoniously with your environment. You are encouraged to bring gifts to share and to leave nothing behind (no trash!) everything is burned at the end of the event. I have never been to RL burning man myself but I have many friends who have been. I am a Burn2 veteran however! Thinking about making a build for the next one, loved that Anglerfish partycar ( i think thats what you call it!)  you can jump on it and dance while it travels around the sim!

If you check out their website you will find they have so many resources for creators who want to make a build, volunteer, or perform. There is even a pandemic  toolkit on the site which I think is beautiful and another amazing thing about SL! I would love to see more diversity and builds at the next one so I hope this post will inspire some of my black and brown SL creators to join the fun!

I am totally honest I feel like I am going to be shit at this but since you landed here what does that say about your taste? 🥲😂 A little about me: I have been playing SL off and on for about 12 years. I am a star wars nut. My husband in world is my real life husband and he comes on to explore with me! This blog, the wandering jedi, is designed to be a go to spot for exploring the fun sims here in second life. There are so many sims it can often times be overwhelming so this blog will be a guide of some dope ass places I have been!
