Video: Liars - “Sekwar”

In this lifetime, Liars have been one of the most consistently creative and singular forces in the experimental worlds, but no more was that notion put to the text than on 2017′s listmaking effort TCFC. It was the first release by the band under founding member and vocalist Angus Andrew’s hand following the exit of Aaron Hemphill, and as it heard him delving deeper into the minimalist electronic beyond of the self, it proved that Liars could continue to evolve, as the band always have, in order for their art to survive.

“Sekwar”, the lead single from Liars’ 10th studio effort The Apple Drop, expounds upon the synthetic transmissions of TCFC with a continued focus on the avant spirals that have persistently patterned their work, and in this era, formed in collaboration with jazz drummer Laurence Pike, multi-instrumentalist Cameron Deyell, and the songwriting of Mary Pearson Andrew, formerly of High Places and currently of matrimony with Andrew himself.

The listen -- a tense, methodical exploration of deep sea synths, lop-sided drum beats, and errant guitars -- lurches in the darker corners of sound where Liars always seem to be able to uncover something different of this world. “All the colours that I wanted to hold / When the fog that grows insane / That I can't get out my mind / Can you tell me what I used to know?,” his voice anchors into the search, only to continue onward into its depths, “We'll fight first.” Accompanied by its visuals directed by Clemens Habicht, it would appear Liars have stumbled into yet another dimension in their own anomalistic likeness...

Liars’ The Apple Drop will be released August 6th on Mute.

Hey, you ever have a dishwasher go rogue on you? Picture this: it's an ordinary day and you're just minding your own business in the kitchen, starting a wash on the dishwasher, and then it goes into overdrive and the water gets so pressurized it chops all the plates into little pieces, then it opens and starts spitting shards of plates at you and you're trying to remember how to turn the damn thing off.

Yeah. Let's just say I'm not so lucky.

Sometimes I think about how 154 doesn't have any specific emotion tied to the two sides of their face unlike other enasonas. I rolled with it anyway because it gives then a lot more freedom when switching sides: it doesn't really do anything!

They thought about this too, then forgot about it soon after.

I just stumbled across this sketch i never posted on my previous account! It was at the end of my “crisis hiatus” when i took 3 months off to figure out my identity and i was still signing my drawings as “rrattlesnake”

I don’t remember the premise behind this doodle. I’m guessing it’s that whatever 154 does provokes a funny reaction from Ari because they’re so in love… even an anime nosebleed is valid.
