Alright, costume time

So these were the three they first showed off, and tbh the Sauna Egg one confused the heck out of me, because this was the first time they mentioned a character by the name of Sauna Egg. I mean I figured that this was the second Cookie they’re releasing, but also they mentioned this costume in between the other ones we’re getting at the start. So when exactly are we getting this costume? Also does this mean we don’t have an Epic costume for this first half?

Also props to a friend on Discord for calling that there was a citrus squad member getting a costume

Then after that we have our later costumes for other things, like new Lunar Year and Valentines

Wasn’t expecting Electric Eel to get the new year costume, but honestly he looks great with it

And then I actually quite like Sugar Swan’s new Valentines costume, it’s a pretty different vibe from her normal and her costume and I can appreciate that. I was kind of worried it’d be too much like her normal

Now I can only hope I’ll be able to pull them

Sauna Egg Cookie (Korean: 구운달걀맛 쿠키, guundalgyalmat kuki), is an Epic Cookie released alongside his Pet, Eggbeak, in the second half of the Simmering Syrup Sauna update.

Sauna Egg Cookie is an anxiety-riddled Cookie that currently manages the Simmering Syrup Sauna, often working in the background to keep the sauna's functions running and attending to many of the customers' needs.

Story

Ever since the Simmering Syrup Sauna got a new owner, the place has been buzzing with a new kind of energy, leaving its odd smell in the past. Imagine a relaxing retreat brimming with various baths—from sweet syrup to butter and chocolate baths, perfect for soaking away the day's stress. The new owner, Sauna Egg Cookie, is known for his meticulous attention to detail, even taking care of the biscuit pillows in the nap area. Although experienced enough to take it easy, his approach is charmingly straightforward—just baked eggs in the dough, no fancy seasonings like salt or pepper. The Cookie doesn't tolerate even a single grain of dust, and he is seen sweeping and mopping the bathhouse with an egg yolk mop all day long. The customers don't even have to ask because he is already ready with a towel and a sweet rice drink for a quick refresh. The once old-fashioned bathhouse now has long lines, thanks to the new owner's earnest and heartwarming dedication.

I think the CRK artbook mentioned the Hollyberrians having juice baths or something like that, and I’m pretty sure the Golden Cheese Kingdom has cheese baths, so nice to see it properly confirmed as a regular thing

This is random, but now I really just want to see a bunch of the Cookies just in bath outfits just enjoying the bathhouse. Like a large art piece with the different baths and Cookies in each of them just chilling

So everyone guessing tanghulu were correct, though I suppose my guess about tangerines worked too

Well @bellatheinkdemon, you were entirely correct about it being a sauna, considering the update’s actually called Simmering Syrup Sauna

And this is our first Cookie of the update. Based on their design compared to the sauna, I’m gonna guess that they either work here or they’re related to whoever runs it

I’m also not entirely sure what flavor they are, but based on the sauna, likely either a syrup or fruit (not really sure what fruit that is other than oranges, but we already have Orange Cookie. I mean I suppose it could be tangerines)

You know, I quite like the current Ovenbreak update. The new characters are fun and aren’t really annoying in any way, we got some new worldbuilding with how Cookie baths work, which sure, isn’t the most important thing but it’s still worldbuilding, and the story was nice enough

Honestly I really only have two gripes with it, one personal and one more legitimate

First, I wish that there were more actual sauna themed costumes, since we really only got ones for the new Cookies and Grapefruit. But I suppose I can also understand it, since this is the month for both Lunar New Year costumes and the Valentines Day costume, and if we have those in addition to a bunch of sauna costumes, it’d probably be too much. So it’s more just a personal thing and I can understand why we didn’t get it

But then my actual criticism is that the story event gameplay has been the exact same for the past 3 updates now, with this one being practically identical to the January update outside of the bath bombs. And I do like the bath bomb thing, I find it fun. But you can’t deny that the gameplay has been the same since December

And heck, the gameplay where you complete a bunch of quests has pretty much been the story event gameplay since the October update in Dessert Paradise. September was the last time we had properly different gameplay, and frankly that needs to change

Also something I notice in the new trailer, right at the beginning we see the sauna from the outside, and it looks very run down. My guess is that’s going to have to do with the plot, like the sauna is gonna get shut down because people just haven’t been going, and so maybe the little Cookie takes it upon themselves to try and find a way to save the sauna, since they’re probably related to whoever runs the place, and they seem too young to be running it themselves

Also there was this line about the story and it confuses me. Not in the same way that the Sauna Egg costume does but still

The plot doesn’t seem to be that the bathhouse is getting closed down, instead it’s newly renovated and now getting more customers. So I’m guessing that this “suspicious feeling in the air” is whatever conflict is going to happen, like maybe someone wants the bathhouse for themselves and wants to kick out everyone else

It probably won’t happen but it’d be funny if it was the Cookies of Darkness
