Okay with my only prior knowledge of this being

1) chucky is a doll that kills people and

2) apparently he has a genderfluid kid? I was shown the clip where he says it

So with that established, aren't people jumping to conclusions here? Like in my experience evil dolls can't have children and usually just have 1 thing on their to do list, which is kill people. With that in mind how do we know that chucky isn't lying to the gsy kid he told about his alleged child to make said kid trust him and then he, chucky, can kill more people. I'm just stoking the flames here I have zero (0) actual stakes in this but I think everyone is too quick to be like omg gay rights that they ignore the actual story and potential metaphors and the actual spice of a story. "Evil doll uses a queer person's desire for acceptance to kill people" is so much more interesting than "this doll that's supposed to be evil isn't as evil because it accepts its queer child" which is a good concept sure but more of a stand alone concept than one in a chucky series. I mean there isn't even an explanation of how chucky has a kid that I know of.

In media we're doing audience theory and some guy (I forgot his name but we study his theories) said that the audience is dying, in that with social media its becoming less of a clear line between creators and audience. The audience is also becoming more active, instead of just passively accepting the dominant view the creators intended we think for ourselves and actively question it. Anyway I think that guy is right but also not because the audience is not actually thinking about the media as media! Chucky is evil and while it might end up being that he's just supportive of queer people there's also a chance its actually nuanced and would fit in with horror tropes, which are there for a reason. Horror is essentially haha wouldn't this be fucked up

Interact with media! Think about it! Debate it! Say hmmmm what is the writers trying to say here? And then choose whether you accept that or reject that! That's the fun part! If people actually debated media in an interested way and acknowledged that this is media and not real life and therfore uses tropes and stereotypes to get their point across so we can understand it and pick up on the cues, there'd be a lot less mind rotting discourse because people would be putting their critical thinking skills to use!

#analysing media is fun!! dont just accept shit at its base most sinple meaning thats just boring and how you get accusations of queerbating #when its really not queerbating #again this topic means fuck all to me other than i really like analysing media #everything has a meaning and then another hidden meaning!!! everything!! nothing is out of place or irrelevant!#seriously this is just me getting exited about critical thinking and inteacting with media please dont take the topic of chucky seriously i #know nothing abiut chucky other than ehat ive stated #i just like horror flims and shows bevause they rely so heaviky on subtle signalling like lighting to make the audience scared and it can #either be done realky well or really shittily and that's the besuty of it!its also quite easy to see plus i like the fucked up element #yet again i could not care less about the chucky films i am simply bored

Meet the Artist-Run Incubator Empowering Makers in Indiana | #50StatesofArt

As part of 50 States of Art, Creators is inviting artists to contribute first-person accounts of what it is like to live and create in their communities. Consuelo Poland is a functional artist and Resident Maker at RUCKUS Makerspace in Indianapolis, IN.

I moved out of Grand Rapids, MI to find new opportunities after almost nine years of living there and 22 years growing up in Traverse City, MI. You could say I was overdue. I moved because I felt Grand Rapids was conservative, not only within the arts, but also with its social scene. Since moving to Indianapolis, IN, I've been fortunate enough to land a great position as the Artistic Foreman at RUCKUS Makerspace, which is a project of the Riley Area Development Corporation. RUCKUS was developed to help alleviate the financial struggles that a lot of makers and artists face when trying to start their own businesses. Essentially, it's a business incubator with 30 small businesses and startups currently within its walls, and we focus on giving them access to tools and equipment, workshops, classes, and business development resources.

Since joining Riley in 2016, I've built out the RUCKUS space, made tool and equipment lists, signed on makers, planned workshops and classes, and managed day-to-day events. Along with being the manager, I'm also a Resident Maker and have been fortunate enough to figure out what it is I want to do with my functional art: I want to start my own outdoor furniture line, and I will design and weld my metal functional pieces of furniture. Every piece of conceptual furniture I design is inspired by the textiles, weavings, and colors of my Guatemalan heritage, to create bold connections to the world. I really love designing functional pieces that revolve around shapes, patterns, and colors, and I think the furniture world should be pushed when it comes to designs and functionality.

Being a newcomer in Indianapolis has been interesting because I get to talk with artists who've been in the art scene for a while and get their perspective on the art world. Regardless of relocating, it seems as though every city struggles with cultivating an art scene that doesn't consist of the same exact people at the same parties, talking about the same things, excluding each other rather than banding together. That was a reason why I left Grand Rapids, so I feel fortunate to give emerging or struggling artists in Indianapolis an opportunity to get their name out there through RUCKUS.

What is great about Indianapolis is that everyone really wants to connect and fight the same fight, and hasn't been discouraged by the hurdles of financing a studio space or a business. Within our current space, we've developed our own community, where everyone shares their personal stories, their dreams, their skills, and naturally collaborates with one another. As a community, we are self-organizing and help educate each other when it comes to running a business, by offering advice on supply and material costs, brainstorming sales opportunities, and lending business tips. The networking that happens here has helped to get individual makers work, but it also helps RUCKUS as a whole. We won't stop making or collaborating, because we hope make an impact on the art and business world.
