updates; blurb; semi-rant
ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ At the home-stretch! Wanted to try to post early, but the last few days have been a bit chaotic.
tl;dr til next bold point - Money issues, and a random ass deer deciding it wants to live rent-free in my yard lmao
So many job interviews while being on/off sick, and then got sent bills for additional things we didn’t anticipate having to deal with (like a giant tree in our front yard the township decided it wants to cut down, but the law in our State is we have to pay??? I’m;??;). So I had to try and sell a bunch of things for quick cash, because they won’t work with us for a payment plan.
Goodbye special edition Pokémon Nintendo Switch, and majority of our games and manga. 😑 (Also why are these town services so expensive????)
I’m incredibly salty. I keep telling myself it’s only monetary goods we can rebuy when we’re not hurting financially, but it’s still upsetting. I hate having to sell stuff. Our savings are pretty much depleted by now, so that’s a looming cloud that’s just the best. /s
Got some positive news about one potential source of income, though, so knocking on wood that that works out. 🤞🏻
Then today we found out a pregnant deer somehow got into our gated backyard and had a baby, and it was in the middle of a rain storm so bad you could barely see. 😵‍💫
For context, I live in a town. Deer like this don’t ever wander around here. I can count on a single hand the amount of times I’ve seen them (and never in our yard!). They’re way, way more common farther up by the river, which is like a half-hour drive, so I guess it wandered and got lost? They just... they don’t live here lmao it’s too many people/cars, no shelter or trees for them to hide, etc.
And I don’t say all that because I’m enamored by the fact that they exist—I’m actually very used to deer being around, due to living in areas where they’re far more common. They would run in huge herds through my parents’ property when growing up, along with bear and the like.
It was just super weird to see one at random when our gates are too tall for them to normally jump???? Like, we don’t even know how she got in?? The baby deer couldn’t get out on its own, we had to help them both leave and stay united, and also panic that they don’t go running into a street with cars. @w@
So that was fantastic way to start the day, being in the heavy rain with a dog that I had to walk, and being surprised by and then advanced on by an angry/panicked mother deer. I don’t need to be trampled lmao and right after I woke up, sans coffee 😂 It was a good thing I had my dog on a leash for all parties involved lmao
It’s one of those weeks where it’s like, what else can happen?
Also, for those wondering, yes, both deer are fine.
Now, the positives! Got a lot of editing done last night. Went through over half of the chapter, making it more coherent and trimming fat. Only a small chunk left to go, and then I can post and start drafting the next chapter. Got a bunch of ideas for that, but I’m trying to figure out how far I can stretch things before the fighting/action-scenes begin again. I don’t want to have another mini arc turn into a full-blown ten chapter episode (thank you again, Shinsou). 😂 But there are a few things I want to touch on before we get to the 1-VS-1s. I hope it will be entertaining!
Also had to redo my embedded blockquotes all over again (Thank you AO3 for not following my inputted HTML every time I Save Draft.) lol, so I’m really hoping mobile-readers are going to be okay 🥲  It’s actually worse than the chapter with Aizawa’s learned packet breakdown. OTL If it’s not easily legible when posted, I sincerely apologize!! I tried for a ridiculously long time to make it work 😭
I’m not going to do deep-set blockquotes going forward. This was it lmao. I understand now why most people just create graphics and embed them into their work 😭💀 Rich Text to HTML conversion was hard enough already. (Why did I make so much more work for myself? lol I always seem to do this. 😂)
But alas. Gonna try to finish tonight! ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ I hope it will be worth it! ❤️

My theories for the Part 5 that would have happened (finally typed up in a legible format!)
I’ve had these in my drafts since January 2021 but it’s taken this long for me to type them up neatly, but yeah these are just a case of me taking the clues and cues from Part 4 as well as stuff that was said about the intended Part 5, and me coming up with my own personal theories of the random plans for CAOS Part 5
1. Part 5 would be all about prices. The price Zelda pays to get Sabrina back, the price Lilith pays to get Baby Adam back, the price Lucifer pays to try and get his powers/throne back, the price Sabrina pays for the consequences of the actions that led to her death.
2. Zelda uses Baron Samedi and agrees to pay ‘any price’ for Sabrina. Possibly her powers? Possibly a timer on her own life? Given a year to get her life/affairs in order or given the time length of Part 5 so that the finale is all about that deadline. Possibly spending the season with Hilda, Sabrina and Ambrose determined to undo Zelda’s deal (Edit: Since writing this a deleted clip has now confirmed that Zelda was definitely making a deal for Sabrina’s life, but we still don’t know what the deal is)
3. Lilith developing her connection with Hecate further. They had her honouring her and speaking of her as her own Goddess (she was the Goddess of Witches and I was the first witch, Hecate give me the strength to do what must be done, etc) and I feel that would have been developed a little bit further. Whether in the background or possibly involving her petitioning Hecate in her planned full body resurrection of Adam. Possibly in helping guard against any returns from Lucifer. Either way, I feel something of that connection, however small or big, would have happened.
4. Resurrection of Baby Adam. This is a definite. For many reasons; you don’t have the soul being returned to the doll if you’re not gonna use it (Chekhov’s Gun vibes. Only...Chekhov’s baby), you don’t show Lilith’s relief followed by plots if it’s not certain, and then on a narrative level, we need a second Morningstar to mirror Sabrina, there’s the whole family bond, the coven bond, the inevitable challenge of Father against Son (as a direct inversion of the False God and the Nazarene). The whole finale and the whole Returned episode all set up for a resurrected Adam in part 5
5. Adam would be aged up. We already hear him say Mama when his soul his returned, which is definitely older than he was when he died, and we know the show doesn’t like keeping babies around too long (the Blackwood twins being aged up, for example, and having Leticia given to Dezmelda so we wouldn’t have a baby at the Spellman house constantly), and I think it would be a case of whichever realm he went to, he continued to grow, and continues to age while waiting for the resurrection. I imagine he’d be aged up to 16 (to almost match Sabrina and make them a definite parallel/mirror/foil to one another) or perhaps a little younger or older.
6. An aged up Adam, if resurrected at the beginning of Part 5 and not the end, would be ready to challenge his Father when he inevitably came back to take his throne. I also suspect there’d be some ‘ultimate power’ thing happening where the two Morningstars have to team up, just like the two Sabrinas did.
7. The ‘Witch Wars’ with Riverdale Witches would essentially be Hecate Witches vs Satanic Witches, and would be connected to Lucifer seeking to get his power back and take back Hell. This could also cause number 3 to happen, with Lilith connecting with Hecate in order for her (and her son potentially, unless he would be resurrected right at the end of Part 5 as some kind of dramatic cliff hanger) to fight off Lucifer.
8. All working together to find out who the Trinket Man is after discovering he not only gave Sabrina Pandora’s Box, and Blackwood the Imp, but he’s the one that’s allowing Lucifer to have influence again. We, as an audience, finally find out who the fuck he is. My theory is something linked to maintaining balance, like the Fates or those Gods who make sure certain sides never gain too much advantage.
8a. Connected to the above, Lucifer goes to the Trinket Man for help getting his powers back in the Part 4 finale deleted scene, which means we’d see what that entails in Part 5, and what is required, because everything comes at a price, as said in my number 1 point. I suspecte there’s a deal that involves an owed debt of some particular item as well as a time limit
9. There’s a joined force of powers (Lilith, the coven, the Spellmans, Hecate, the mortals etc) that are used to defeat their enemies in the Witch War. Lucifer uses the distraction for a coup to seize back Hell and Lilith is either left unable to go home or is trapped there with him (as it always goes for the first half of a season, like the end of part 1 and the end of part 3, with part 2 and 4 finales ending with her defeating him. This end of part 5 would  be rectified in a part 6 where she defeats him. Again).
If a case of her not being able to go home to Hell and a case of Adam hasn’t been resurrected yet, then the finale would involve an aged up Adam being resurrected and ready to challenge his Father so they (he and Lilith) can go home. Dramatic cliffhanger vibes with thunder and lightening most likely. The coven would likely be present for this resurrection just as they were for his birth.
10. At some point Lucifer would tell Sabrina how Adam died in the first place, but with none of the context information, making it seem like Lilith just killed him because she was bored and angry and just wanted to hurt Lucifer and never cared about her son. He’d say this in order to try and split up the team. Sabrina, in usual Sabrina style, would believe this and tell Lilith they don’t want her help anymore and she’s not welcome for our usual conflicty scene between the two of them. It would take Hilda (and possibly Zelda too) to convince Sabrina otherwise, with a ‘you’d be surprised the lengths we’d go to out of fear’ and ‘you didn’t see her with that baby, love’. You know the type of Hilda chat I’m talking about. I would also like if they’d point out that Sabrina was outraged Zelda had given her to Lucifer as a baby, but now she’s outraged Lilith had done the only thing to ensure her baby wouldn’t be. Regardless, the whole vibe of the chat is people make mistakes, heart in the right place, love and fear cause things to happen, the important thing is to learn and to fix them.
11. The writers have been constantly gearing towards having Lilith fully on the Spellman side, not only with the bond she had with Sabrina, or siding against Lucifer in the Part 2 finale, but also with the way they had her be the Mother of Sabrina’s brother, the way she chose to stay with the coven, kneeling before Hecate’s statue, her closeness with Hilda. So I feel in the wake of the Adam sitch and the Witch War sitch and Lucifer not giving up sitch, that something would happen in Part 5 to put them firmly and officially on the same team. Possibly it would the number 9 theory of Lilith being without a home, or possibly Adam is taken by Lucifer (’let’s go get my brother back’ would be a nice parallel to the end of Part 2 with ‘let’s go get my boyfriend back’), possibly it’s Lilith playing a significant part in freeing Zelda from her deal with Baron Samedi, I don’t know what it would be, but there would be something.
Miranda seemed not only determined that Zelda and Liltih were endgame, but that if Part 5 had happened that’s where the groundwork would have been laid at least, and I do feel if that’s true, the moment would happen in the finale. I don’t feel a kiss or a full on confirmation, but a something that would lay groundwork for Part 6.
12. The Hecate eye glow would obviously come into play, and I feel she’d have a definite role in the Witch Wars and/or Zelda and her Resurrect Sabrina Deal. And I do feel something to do with Hell and Lilith (I personally feel she’d have some role in Adam’s resurrection and thus putting Lilith in her debt in some way). We were supposed to be seeing how she can be a wrathful Goddess as well as all Hell would literally be breaking lose here. I don’t know whether we’d see her, or if we’d just see her influence. Possibly a possession of a mortal as a temporary vessel (as I don’t feel she’d use one of the witches. Unless it was Roz, as she has the whole Psychic/Cunning thing going on)
13. Sabrina M possibly also being resurrected, but as resurrection would change both Sabrinas, Sabrina M possibly being entirely on her Father’s side, and falling into the whole ‘evil twin’ we’ve had in all other incarnations of Sabrina.
14. Mary and her cult. The way they had her as stepping in as pastoress for Blackwood means they were definitely going to be following up, and much like Lucifer, there was no way they were getting rid of Faustus permanently (especially as Richard was a main cast member. Prudence may have scattered parts of him everywhere, but I suspect Mary, the twins, and select members of the Pilgrims of the Night Church would search far and wide and put him back together, sort of how they put the Judge together in Buffy. And we’d already established that Mary is able to sew a head back on, and quite okay with it.
And my final generic theory for the whole over-riding narrative arc of a Part 5 is:
The writers said, after Part 3 aired, that Part 4 was going to involve the ‘infernal version of The Crown’ with the tug of war power play between Lilith and Lucifer being their predominant storyline. That obviously didn’t happen, but as the writers said that’s what they were filming, it sounds like they did the scenes but they were cut in the final edit when the show was cancelled, which implies that this The Crown storyline was setting up for things in Part 5.
Because if Lilith resurrects Adam, and we take the ‘Mama’ as a hint he is going to be aged up to match Sabrina, and Zelda uses her bargain with Baron Samedi to resurrect both Sabrinas, then there is the possibility as I said above, of Sabrina M being put into the ‘evil twin’ category of previous Sabrina incarnations, and therefore side with her Father, Lucifer, in the fight for the throne of Hell. Sabrina S and Adam would therefore be on one side with Lilith and the Hecate Witches, while Sabrina M (and probably Caliban, as they’d find a way to get him out of the void, just as we’d find out Nick was never in ‘heaven’ in the first place, and it was all in Sabrina’s wish fulfilment afterlife thing) would be on the other side with Lucifer and the Satanic Witches (likely the witches from Riverdale).
The extra support for my theory for this being how the sides would be split, is the fact they made a big deal about Adam being born under Hecate’s blessing, and even his blanket had the triple moon on it, so there’s slim-to-no chance of him being on Lucifer’s side, and with the Hecate glowing eyes cut scene, it just makes sense for Witch Wars to have been a Hecate/Lucifer divide with everyone choosing sides.
But as I said above in my theories, Adam would either be resurrected at the very beginning or at the very end, so he’d either be part of the fight for Hell, on the side of Lilith/Hecate/Sabrina S, or, after the battle is done and Lucifer wins the battle, Adam comes back in the finale showing the war is from over.
Either scenario is equally likely. One allows for a bond with Sabrina S and further conflict with her twin, while the other allows for a dramatic ending and to follow the usual cliffhanger habit of ‘Lilith loses to Lucifer in first finale, followed by defeating him in the second’.

Hey I sent an ask before but I guess it got swallowed? I was wondering if you had any advice on editing headers for fics? I’ve loved the ones you’ve done in the past and I’d really like to do something like that for my own fics too! Hopefully this one gets to you💓—🦋 anon
Hi!!!
I actually design things and work in printing for my main job so I have access to things like Adobe photoshop and Adobe illustrator (I do my painting/retouching in photoshop and everything else in illustrator). But it’s hella expensive so I try to look at free alternatives.
I have a bunch of asset/resource sites I use for photos and fonts. Sorry I tend to ramble so here we go.
Firstly I have a lot of free resource sites that I can get high-res assets from. I often am using things for commercial purposes because I get paid to do what I do. But for most people, they don’t have to worry so much about it bc they’re making it for themselves, but it’s always nice to have high-res assets still.
When I get a concept, I look for imagery that inspires me from sites like these and I can usually find what I’m looking for. The amount of beautiful, free, high-res images out there is amazing.
Good rule of thumb is that you can always make a big image smaller, but never make a small image bigger, so always download the biggest size you can and size to your needs. -holding SHIFT when resizing keeps things in proportion when scaling-
I usually use pexels and freepik as my default. There are sooo many image sites I could list but here are the ones I use.
https://www.pexels.com/
https://www.freepik.com/search?dates=any&format=search&page=1&selection=1&sort=popular&type=photo
Tumblr media
https://pixabay.com/
https://unsplash.com/
https://www.rawpixel.com/free-images (There’s free and premium images, but you can download 5 images per day are labeled free)
https://lostandtaken.com (textures that you can tile!)
For BTS photos I look via google for images over 4MP (usually dispatch or official photos are my go-to).
Tumblr media
I use photoshop to cut them out and retouch, but there is another editing tool I’ve been experimenting with called Photopea, which is a FREE online editing tool that’s just as powerful. It even looks like photoshop so it’s pretty comfortable to use.
https://www.photopea.com/
Tumblr media
I make my banners at 1600px x 350px, but i realized tumblr auto resizes anyway [LIKE A BITCHASS PUNK IM MAD ABT IT AND FOUND A WORKAROUND thats for another post tho]. I keep my DPI higher in case I want to use it for printing at some point, but that’s optional -72 is perfect for what you’re doing.
Reference:
300DPI= GREAT PRINT QUALITY - (work brain loves this but it’s useless for what we’re doing)150DPI=GOOD PRINT QUALITY 72=OPTIMIZED FOR DIGITAL USE ONLY (standard screen resolution)
_
Custom fonts can be your friend or the enemy. If you’re using a scripty one, try to make sure it’s legible with your title (there are some really terrible ones out there, but there are so many good ones too).
The easiest and quickest font place I use is dafont bc you can choose fonts based on the style you’re going for and you can test your text before you decide to download. They can be loaded into photopea! Also they’re free:
https://www.dafont.com/
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As far as editing goes, I tend to choose a color theme based on feelings and adobe has a site that can help you by showing you palettes based on search terms. ( you can even search for things like happy, sad, angry, etc)
https://color.adobe.com/explore
Tumblr media
I tend to use fuzzy edge brushes on everything to make it look soft, especially in lighting. The trick is just layers upon layers with different blending modes
I use “Color”, “Saturation” and “Overlay” modes a lot.
Tumblr media
Ignore my layer names: I’m a mess.
Tumblr media
This is what it looks like in reality. I just blob brush everything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So in steps you can see 1)original cutout
Tumblr media
2) adding effects like busted lip (a brush i downloaded for PS–I don’t think these import to photopea unfortunately), bruising (textures set to overlay/multiply using different colors), earrings (hand-painted over the originals for a cleaner edge), and EYES (eyes i tend to cut from the main layer, copy above, lighten/contrast the shit out of them and change the color using “replace color” or “hue/sat” or blob color on a new layer and set it to “color” blending mode and then paint over –there’s a lot of ways to do it– but then blend them back into the photo in a natural-ish way)
Tumblr media
3) lighting overlays give color to the skin and you can use colors from your background to create interesting pop effects (in this case i used purple)
Tumblr media
I hope this helps??? But if you want more like in depth help with editing and stuff, let me know!!! It can get overwhelming, but it can also be really fun!

How to make stim banners / dni banners (with PS)
(Disclaimer: I will not be making tutorials for other programs as I’m not familiar with any others when it comes to this task. There are other programs you CAN use to make stim banners, so don’t worry you need PS for this task!)
Step 1: Make your list of who you don’t want to interact/what you want to say.
Commonly in these banners you include in kink / cg///l in these banners. But do not feel limited to this list! You can include any group that makes you uncomfy. Do not feel pressured to keep it short. Make it as lengthy as you need to. Other groups to consider adding to the list are...
- TERFs/SWERFs/radfems/etc
- REGs (Transphobes, aphobes, biphobes, etc)
- Certain agere communities. Any that make you uncomfortable add them there if you feel it’s necessary. Agere communities that tend to be on these banners are lil///to//ts, kid///die//cub/s, Tin//y Ro///ya//ls, and so on.
Making your list is important as depending on the length it will depend on the size of your banner and the overall editing process.
For this tutorial and for my own banners, I include REGs, TERFs, SWERFs, and Kink communities not to interact
Step 2: Open your canvas in PS.
When I make stim banners, my banners are always 500x45 (Width = 500, Height = 45) but do whatever size you want. Just make sure it’s long enough and more of a rectangle shape!
Tumblr media
If you followed my instructions more precisely, your canvas should look something like that. (Don’t worry about the many layers on the side, this is the PS file I use when making my banners and I’m simply particular about keeping track of all the layers I use. None of these will affect how you make yours)
Step 3 (1 / 2): Making your background.
Now, let’s say you want to make your background from scratch. This is a very simple process. Select your lasso tool.
Tumblr media
^This is what it will look like.
In a layer that will be used only for the background (i.e.: a layer you won’t use for your text, accessories, etc) lasso your whole canvas. (Click and hold as you circle the canvas. Make sure you’ve selected the entirety of your canvas.)
Tumblr media
It should look like this when you do. You’ll see a black and white animated border around it.
Right click the canvas and select “Fill...”
Tumblr media
The window that pops up should look like this.
Select the “Use:” drop down menu. You’ll have several options for what to do. In this case, select “Color...”
Tumblr media
A color picker window will appear. Simply select the color you want to use. When you select it, click “OK”, and then click “OK” again when it returns to the previous “Fill” window.
Tumblr media
Your canvas should look like this. (Just with the color of your choosing)
There is just a simple way to make a base color background. Feel free to experiment and try color combinations and the like!
Step 3 (2 / 2): Importing a pre-made picture as your background.
If you want to include a certain image as your background, you can! And simply so! For the sake of this tutorial, I’ve made a simple background to include on my banner
Simply copy the image of your choosing and go back to PS. Go to the edit drop down menu and select “paste” (or press ctrl + v)
Tumblr media
Now, the background I used was of the same dimensions as my canvas. When selecting a pre-made background/making a pre-made background, make sure that the dimensions either match or are larger than the dimensions of your canvas. Otherwise it won’t be big enough to cover it all.
Step 4 (1 / 2): Adding text.
For this next part, select your “horizontal type tool”.
Tumblr media
^This is what it will look like.
Click on the canvas and a new layer will be created as your ability to write text appears.
Tumblr media
Pick the font of your choosing, make sure the font size fits properly within your canvas, and write your message. For this I’ll be using “PixelMaster”.
Tumblr media
Feel free to mix the colors of your text up. But I stress this: make sure your writing is legible.
For this example, the writing can be read, but it can be a bit of an eye strain. Which isn’t something you want to do. Make sure you edit the text so it can be read without hurting one’s eyes.
Step 4 (2 / 2): Adding a border around your text.
This is an option that will help make your writing legible and make the text look nicer itself! I do this with all my banners. And if you use a pixel-oriented font like I do, I highly recommend using this step.
To do this, right click your text layer and select “blending options”.
Tumblr media
Select the “Drop Shadow” option.
Tumblr media
As you can see, I have everything pre-set. To achieve these settings, start with the blend mode. Now, feel free to mess around with this part and pick what you like best with the coloring. Same with the opacity. For this, I have it set to “Normal”, the color is black, and the opacity is 60%.
The angle is set to 120, with the “Use Globe Light” box checked. (However, the globe light box hasn’t appeared to change anything when I’ve used it in the past. Feel free to experiment with it.)
Set your distance to 0 px, your spread to 28%, and your size to whatever you like. The number you choose will change how large or how small your border is. For me I match it with the font’s size (2 px).
Now click on the “contour” box.
Tumblr media
The default setting for your contour box will look like this. To change this to get the appearance you want, click the point of the line on the upper right corner and drag it all the way to the left corner. (or set your Input to 2% and your Output to 100%)
Tumblr media
It should look like this. Click “OK” and then click “OK” again. (If you want these settings saved, make sure to click the “make default” box!
Tumblr media
Your finished border should look something like this!
And voila! Your banner is finished.
There is more you can do to personalize your banner, and I encourage you to add what you feel may make it look better. This is simply a basic idea of what you want your banner to look like.
If you plan on making multiple banners, I recommend keeping a PS file of your project as to keep some of the settings as they are. It will save you time when editing new banners and will help keep you reminded on how some of these things should be set.
Have fun making your banners! And feel free to tag me in the banners you’ve made using this as help! I’d love to see what you’ve done with this advice!

Project 2: Reflection
On the process:
While I immediately knew what I wanted to do my second project on, I spent most of my time trying to choose a medium or form for it. I think that making my systems map really helped with this and I should have done it a lot earlier.
I also really struggled with thinking that my ideas were ‘good’ and my project was interesting or important. I found that I was constantly asking for validation from other people and it was only after getting that approval that I would feel confident enough in continuing to work. This is a confidence problem that bleeds into all of my artistic work and that I need to get over.
I did not see how big the project had to be until I was working on the project. It had seemed a lot smaller and more achievable in my head, but as I was working I realized that to get the end result and impact I wanted, I would have to put in a lot more than I had planned. Because of this, I was really disappointed in myself by the final week.
If I were to rewind and do this project all over again I would try to:
Find a way to automate or streamline a lot of the time-consuming, brain numbing tasks like painting chat bubbles or time stamps. The chat bubbles, for example, I could simplify by making custom brushes. I could have had template layers for things like Instagram posts or tweets.
Stop pressing ctrl+z all the time. Everything took me so much longer because I was so finicky with lines and alignment – some were too neat, some were too messy. I would redo the tiniest element, such as the battery bar, fifteen times with tiny variations. Because of this, every panel took three times as long as it should have.
Get more feedback during the design process. I could have cut my brainstorming time by a lot if I had asked people to pitch ideas as well, telling me about things they see that make them uncomfortable or worried from influencers. I think this would have been really valuable input that I disregarded. I did some testing with panels, for example by sending a completed one and asking “what does this mean to you/does this make sense”, but by then I had already completed that image and didn’t have the time to change it.
I should have learned more about comics and paneling as a part of my research. To be honest, I’ve read very few comic books (like, four?) and have only started to do so recently. I think having a more solid base in that area would have lended to my work.
I’m interested in using the medium to its fullest capacity to deliver the message, and I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface in terms of what is possible. Instagram posts allow for videos, so what about learning how to make short animations? That would have been a cool way to show the airbrushing/editing of photos. Cinemagraphs are super cool to me and very #trendy, where it’s a still photo but one element is animated. I think in terms of learning new techniques or programs; I didn’t really deliver.
Next steps;
Putting it ‘out there’. I want to employ Instagram tactics to get an audience. I think that people who are complicit in things like ‘follow for follow’, spamming hashtags with likes, and using third party apps to gain followers/likes are the people who this has to reach the most? Because they’re so trapped in this system.
I’d like to expand the project so it has a satisfying character ‘arc’ for Haya and a narrative that can be followed. I found that my panels were critical enough, they didn’t have the shock or horror factor that I wanted them to because I didn’t want to be so heavy-handed so quickly. I was going for more of a slow realization, or for the reader to sympathize with this person before they realize ultimately that she’s involved in a dangerous culture and actively hurting other people. That requires more panels and more world building.
It would be cool to create a community through this Instagram account. I’d like to get feedback from people via DM’s who want to submit their own narrative, or for the account to actively respond to what’s happening in the Instagram Influencer community. For example, right now the James Charles/Tati Westbrook scandal is the current fixation of this part of the internet, two influencers and former friends fighting because one decided to work with a big name ‘beauty vitamin’ company instead of the other’s beauty vitamin company. It would be interesting for this account to respond to that through these panels.
My worry is the chronology I chose. Because of the way Instagram posts are grouped on a profile chronologically, adding new posts would confuse the narrative structure. I’d have to go back and delete posts to add to the end or middle.
 Summary of critique;
I got pretty positive feedback (which is good because I am very sensitive and crumble under the slightest criticism) so I don’t remember any big critiques other than continuing to expand the project and user testing it. I think that my biggest criticisms are from myself.
I want everything to look a lot neater and more professional, I wish I had used more consistency with the line style or the brushes I used.
There are inconsistencies in color and line alignment that seem glaringly obvious now.
It’s easy to spot the difference between the first few panels I did and the last ones and that’s not good in terms of consistent style.
I’m looking for a more legible font, and a way for Instagram to not compress the images so poorly that the posts are a little pixelated.
There are some typos that I didn’t think too much about because people are always making typos when they text.
I think I relied too heavily on texting as a visual tool and that was lazy of me, I should have gotten more creative with conveying information. More to-do lists, search histories, doctor’s notes, reminders, etc. More pictures and colors would have been nice too, there’s currently too much text, I think.
The Instagram captions were alright but I think I could have spent more time working on them and their voice.
I think I should have done at least 3 more panels, and I would have if I planned my time better.
I should have planned more to fit my research in better. I only incorporated a small part of what I found into the project. I didn’t get into -the body dysmorphia, things like snapchat filters and airbrushing.
There were a lot of topics that I was just too uncomfortable to broach, but I should have
Research;
While I sifted through many scholarly articles and journals, the research that really helped and inspired me was not so scholarly. It really was the sort of masochistic act of following loads of influencers and keeping up with their drama that provided me with material for my project. I found myself screenshotting and screen recording the most ridiculous and appalling things. The interesting part was, the more influencers that I followed, the more the advertisements that appeared on my newsfeeds changed. After a while, I was getting ads on surgery, clinics in the area and shady meal plan subscriptions, almost daily, whereas before, these topics rarely appeared.
The scholarly stuff worked more to validate that the problem I’m studying is big enough and quantifiable enough to be a real cause of concern.

Ok, this is in reply to this thread started by @1895itsallfine that I can’t reblog because someone in it got me blocked (? I guess?).
It deals with the reasons why S4 went down as it did, why johnlock was abandoned after S3/TAB, and asks if the BBC or ACD trust are to blame.
I’d just like to chip in my 2 cents.
I don’t think so. The BBC produced things like London Spy. They don’t have an initial problem with gay characters. Most ACD stories are in the public domain. Allegedly, the BBC pays the trust anyway. Imagine the trust in 2017 taking the BBC to court because they made Holmes and Watson a gay couple on their show. The public outcry! It would fall back badly on the trust. There might have been a silent pay off instead. The BBC is not some small player, it’s one of the biggest TV corporations in the world. If they wanted to, they could have taken on the ACD trust.
Of course, there’s always politics to consider. The BBC gets critizised by the Torie government a lot. The head of drama changed. And one fandom theory goes that it would be such a big scandal/secret to make Holmes and Watson gay that it was something that had to be fought for, that it was controversial and probably a big reveal, that perhaps some people high up were against it. Which I never understood.
Honestly, I think the first misconception of parts of the fandom - and especially tjlc - was that it would be a BIG thing to make Holmes and Watson a gay couple on a Britsh TV show. It might be in Russia, or China - but not in Western Europe in 2009. It just isn’t. If they wanted to, they could have done it - and no one could have stopped them. But they didn’t want to go there in the first place. That was the second misconception of the fandom (but it was not without reason, it was deliberately fed).
That wasn’t our fault. We were baited. The BBC explicidly wanted a sexy Holmes. Now, if we look at the pilot, it’s stuffed full with gay text - it’s not even subtle. Moffat says now this was some kind of trial run and never made for airing - but the other story goes that they hadn’t really to pitch the series to the BBC. They just bought it as they heard modern Holmes. So why make this pilot if not for airing, when there’s no need for a pitch? Of course, I don’t know, but perhaps it was for airing, and then the BBC said it was too blatant. Not because it was too gay. But it left NO DOUBT who would be shagging by ep 2. And that’s just bad for making money.
How long did X Files or Bones play will they - won’t they? That’s why people tune in. Therefore, the romance has to come slowly. And, in case of Sherlock, something else came into play imo: Why just keep the slow burn to the gay? Why not insert a few female ‘love intersts’ as well, and give them all just enough legibility that it just might happen? That’ll keep much more fans on edge, wanting  more, than just viewers shipping johnlock or not caring who fucked whom anyway. So, we got marreid to my work (classic asexual interpretation), and Molly in S1 and Irene in S2. They were there to tease, to broaden the possible fanbase - because they didn’t know at the beginning how big this show would become.
Another love interest was, imo, Moriarty. I think the plan was for a thing between Sherlock and Moriarty. Look at their text in the pool scene for example! Just the text, not the acting. I think they were somehow supposed to be the main gay ship of the show. Only, as it happened, they shared about 10 minutes of sceentime together, whereas Ben and Martin had so much more - time and chemistry.
So, suddenly, there was also the possiblity of johnlock growing stronger. Only, I think the writers truly underestimated the power of this ship. Sheriarty would have been the dark mirror to Sherlock’s arc from great man to good. It would have fueled some fantasies, but, as it would have been an inherently ‘bad’ thing, bringing out Sherlock’s sociopathic tendencies, it wasn’t meant to be if the show should have ended happily. But I truly think that much of the homoeroticism that Gatiss said he’d toyed with was more directed towards this pairing - Sherlock as gay (he says so at Angelo’s while turning John down) and Moriarty as well (Sherlock deduces it while Jim said he just acted, so yeah, a little ambiguity was needed to keep the female ships sailing as well).
But because of the leds chemistry, in S2, they fused some more johnlock into the show as well. Their two leads were going through the roof, as was the whole show - and remember, Moffat said they had no plan past S1. For anything. Not even for Moriarty burning the heart out of Sherlock. They weren’t even sure if the show would be renewed! There was no hidden masterplan for a gay Holmes coming out married to John. They continued to play with it, to tease, but tuned up other ships as well by introducing Irene. They gave every fandom just enough to keep them hooked. It’s called marketing. Not art. Not representation. All this might come in, but at the core is always money - even with the best intentions.
And they were all very successful with it. The show was a massive hit. The leads became A-list stars. They weren’t that much available any more. Now, actors usually don’t have a say in scripts. They just act. They don’t write. Are they to ‘blame’ for what happened, all the tension that went nowhere in the end? But as there was never a plan for more than one season, and the scripts came late, they might as well have gone with what they thought were the show was heading... But remember all the constricting statements here as well, of Ben saying Sherlock shagged Irene etc. while Martin said the show was the gayest on television and a love story. They didn’t know, they were just in it! They just did the best they could to keep everything open. We don’t know how much the actors and actresses knew, how much the directors knew. But the secrecy increasedaas the show progressed. Or was it just lack of a plan, disguised as something clever?  It was so hyped that it had to disappoint sometime.
And with S3, the big separation occoured. Mary was introduced in some illfated attempt at feminism. Perhaps the gay had been too much and it would have been obvious that Sherlock and John would shag like in the pilot!verse after Sherlock’s return without a hetero love interest for John? Or just another ship was perceived as needed, to keep the tension? When Sherlock had Molly and Irene, John could get something more permanent than his girlfriends? Remember, the money, they wanted to sell this show to as many people as possible.
Mary opened up the possibillity of Warstan as well as keep John and Sherlock separated - which was needed for the slow burn to continue. And she was another lead, if the male stars weren’t readily available, to fill up the story (or convention panels). Look how much time she had in S4! But that was a huge mistake. People didn’t take to her - even casual fans - because Mary just doesn’t belong in the Sherlock/Watson universe.
You know, another misconception I see in some discussions is that many fans seem to think creators don’t make mistakes. But people do, all the time. The writers just miscalculated. And please, keep in mind, we johnlock shipper are but a tiny, tiny percentage of the fans! We alone won’t keep this show afloat. But we were strung along as every other ship on the show.
I think the emergences of tjlc after S3 was just some form of selfdefence. Fans were unable to accept that johnlock wouldn’t become explicit, but might stay a ship like any other. It was wishfull thinking, and a sign of the dismissial and failiure of the mary Watson character. Fans had been fed so much gay innuendo by now, they didn’t want to believe that the writers wouldn’t just go through with it.
The style of the show added to the possibility of such a reading, beautifully shot scenes that fall apart when you analyse them too deeply, but are perfect for giffing them in tiny bits. This was actively encouraged by the editing, the writing and acting. For example, the greenhouse scene in TAB starts with a conversation about Irene, as does the hug scene - but I always see just Sherlock glancig at John on my dash in johnlock context. Or hugging John, without the Irene bits or Mary. That is perfectly fine with shipping - but it creates a false reality if taken at face value. It creates the overwhelming impression that it HAD to be johnlock (I don’t know if other ships do the same?). But that is how the fans interpret stuff (content designed to allow for this reading, but also for others).
The creators, on the other hand, got shown raunchy art and porn stories. But they have no context for it either They don’t have time to read the brilliant prose, to admire the excellent paintings, or even read some of the in depth analyses. It’s not that they don’t want to (I think) - it’s just two different spheres. And, btw, if fans send death threas to actresses or stalk the actors or claim their marriage is a sham etc - I wouldn’t interact with people like that as well. Of course, this is not the majority, but these are the instances that stick out and are remembered. On the other hand, creators/actor/actresses need the fans, we create the hype, we buy the stuff, we make them. So, it become some kind of hated co-dependecy - you depend on people that you kind of despise or not understand.
The role of Sherlock Holmes is especially dangerous to fall pray to this over-enthusiasm. He’s an icon. Because deep down, many people perceive him as a real person, not as a ficitonal character. And therefore people ask how Holmes would function in their world. Rathbone had to setp away from it. Brett struggled. Yet audiences project on them and throw their hopes and fantasies at them. And sometimes that just runs riot.
And the series happend too far apart. People just lost interest (see the dropping of the vieweing figures, nearly halfed from S3 to S4). TV is a fast art form. New trends emerge every day. BBC Sherlock, for its first two seasons, was at the peak. It was some of the best television of its time. But the writers thought what was needed was MORE, BIGGER, LOUDER, to keep the audience interested - only, that doesn’t seem to have worked. It didn’t get them the audience back. Sherlock shrunk from a PHENOMENON to just a TV show. As I said, people make mistakes - and audience tastes change and differ.
Coming back to johnlock, that reading is as old as Holmes stories. It was mostly underground, of course, as long as homosexuality was illegal, and is therefore not well documented, but it was there from the beginning. And I’d say that every adaption over the last 40 years had strong homoerotic undertones. Yet, they all got stuck at the desperately unspoken. Because, in the end, Holmes stays an enigma. That has proven bigger than the need to extrapolate his sexuality. And if it’s just kept as subtext, anyone can take away from the adaption what they like. Only, BBC Sherlock went over the top and made it text - without seeing it through by delivering the consequence. That’s why it feels so shallow now.
Perhaps that’s were BBC Sherlock failed the most spectacular. They wanted to explain Holmes, who he was, how he became himself. Therefore, they also had to address his sexuality in a contemporary adaption. But, with all the ships introduced, that became increasingly difficult. Other adaptions, who didn’t want to explain Holmes, could get away with the desperately unspoken (or with thrilling cases, or the 100th Irene Adler story). But the BBC version had so strongly invested in the characters and their relationships that there had to come something off it in the end. Which happened in S4 with Warstan and platonic parentlock.I don’t like it, but that’s what happened. Everything else is interpretation - but the facts are Warstan and parentlock without sex. Because that’s what we are shown.
But the problem is -  so many other interpretations are justifiable from the text we got - Adlock, Sheriarty, Sherlolly and Johnlock. Shit! There were just too many possibilities due to inconstistent writing, lack of plan and the tendendcy to keep all parts of the audience hooked. They wanted to make money and sell it all over the world. Plus, Moffat has the tendency for not following through. This created a very muddled narrative, that was made up as they went along with it, and culminated in big disappointment because it was simply impossible to deliver on every hint made over the whole show.
And fandom had it’s share in it. After S1 aired, people openly addressed the homoeroticism and asked about it. And Mofftiss answered, telling openly that they toyed with it, but that it would never happen. I’ve never seen a statement that said: We will do Johnlock! But I have seen some that said: We like to explore the possibility but won’t go through with it. Those are the facts - even if I don’t like them. They hinted, but when asked openly, they denied. But I didn’t believe them. Which was my decision. And maybe I could make an rgument and say: But look at your show! Yet, they never explicitly promised Johnlock. That was my reading. I refused to believe that people would write a gay show but not see it through. I was wrong, apparently, as people are idiots.
And this is where the conspiracy became dangerous. To be fair, Mofftiss had been pretty straightforward. They didn’t lie about it. We just hoped they did. Because they were so secretive regarding plot twists - but they never lied on a grant scale.
I see S3 onwards as Mofftiss becoming sick of denying. Show, don’t tell. They gave us Mary, but some/me ignored her (because I think she was boring and badly written). And, as it was suddenly a secret conspiracy, johnlock shouldn’t be mentioned anymore. Fans stopped openly asking about it after S3. Why? Is it something raunchy, something bad, something ridiculos to be ashamed of? No. But fandom, and some BNF’s, unwillingly perpetuated this notion by telling other fans not to ask about johnlock as it had to stay a secret. Again, why?
Where is the problem with a gay Shelrock Holmes in 2009, 2010 or 12017 in a Western country? Sure,it would have caused some outcry, but that’s also publicity. The actors are too famous to be touched by it. The creators write gay characters into their other shows. If they wanted to, it would have been possible with Sherlock as well. But they didn’t want it. And they said so - while still delivering their gay jokes! That was a mistake - but see above, people make mistakes, and they had lost the touch with parts of the fandom, and perhaps weren’t aware of how advanced (in a good, progressive way) our discussons had become.
And they did win awards up to TAB. Everything went in their favour. Why change anything?  They thought, maybe, they were infallibe? And they do many other projects than just Sherlock. No one involved focuses on it 24/7 like we do.
But I don’t think there’s still need fo a big conspiracy theory, or that someone forced their hands. We had enough of this. Johnlock, sadly, was never intended on BBC Sherlock. They queerbaited the hell out of the show (like they teased other groups with Sherlolly or Adlock, or Warstan even, which were left hanging just like us) - that was wrong. And they turned around too late. I don’t sense much johnlock in S4. I hoped for it - but I can only see it when I squint and ignore portions of the text. Which is ok to do so for a ship. But, sadly, I still have to rely on a few seconds footage of a hand touching a nape! I mean, it’s 2017! I saw a rimming on prime time television in 1999 in Queer as Folk. I just don’t want to be fed these little bits anymore. That’s what makes me so angry. At myself as much as at Mofftiss.
It would have been time. It would have been possible. They didn’t do it. They wanted some strange feminist version, not a gay version. Just because Gatiss is gay, that doesn’t mean he has to make everything gay (I think that’s incredibly sexist, btw). But he could have.
In the end, their version wasn’t just as contemporary as some of their viewers.
It’s sad what happened. Some things make me still really angry. But this adaption is over. I’m still struggling to love parts. I’m still writing ficiton - because I love Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. I always have. I’ve been shipping johnlock for over 30 years. I can continue. I only hoped for a while I didn’t have to just ship it.
As long as we as fans continue to spin conspiracy theories, there will be no honest exchange with the creators (if such a thing is even possible with fandom and writers). The illusion created by twitter etc, that there is a contact between fans and creators, an understanding, is just that. An illusion. They don’t know us - we don’t know them. I doubt an exchange of ideas is even possible.
Yet, fan attitudes change - not so much as creator attitudes. They still guard their creations, while fans want to engage with and transform the characters. That’s the only resolution. BBC Sherlock will not change. It has aired. Perhaps there will be S5, or specials. But it will stay as it is, ambiguous. And even if not - after this S4, I won’t believe in johnlock, even if I saw it. It would be by the grace of Holy Mary, after John did beat Sherlock up and Sherlock sacrificed everything for him. I have to say, as the dynamics on the show played out, I don’t care much for the last instalment of this adaption any more. I try to ignore it. Or do my own. On good days, it works.
@monikakrasnorada because I saw you in the post that triggered this looong outpouring.

Is it illegal in California to drive an insured car even though you're not insured?
I heard that in the state of California, as long as the car itself is insured, it doesnt matter if the driver himself/herself is insured or not, and that the driver needs to be insured only if he/she is driving a car that isn't insured. Let's say a teen driver wants to drove his/her parents' car, but the teen isn't listed, but not excluded, from the insurance plan. As long as the car is covered, its okay for the teen to drive it. The only exception is if the parents put on the insurance plan that the teen is excluded from the plan ('____ is excluded from the plan'). Is any of this true? Thanks in advance.""

Will My Car Insurance Go Up?
I was Driving down a road going about 35-40 mph. ( Speed Limit was 45 mph ) I was going straight, and this woman coming the opposite direction decides to turn into a cut out, that goes into a shopping center, and as she turns in to the cut out she just keeps going, out into the street I slam as hard as I could, on my brakes but I still hit her, I hit her on the passengers side in between the 2 doors. There were 2 witnesses that I have never seen before in my life that witnessed it. I have back, and neck problems had someone call an ambulance because the pain was a lot worse. They took a CT SCAN and said nothing was wrong. My Neck and back is still hurting me a lot more, from the accident, I have too wear a sling on my left arm / shoulder because of the force of the seat belt. My nose is swollen do to the impact of the air bags, also affected my neck, and head pain. I have marks on my right arm, and stomach from this. Now the air bag deployed in my truck, and all of the air bags deployed in her car. My Truck looks like it will probably be totaled the bumper is ruined, the hood is ruined, the headlight is broken, The door I had to practically pry open because it was stuck, Smoke started coming out of the truck headlight broken Paint, I think the radiator broke, etc.... etc... Both Vehicles had to be towed away. I have good insurance on our cars, but since this isn't my fault the other woman's insurance will have to pay my medical bills, and to fix my truck, or give me blue book value on it right? I am 20 years old, I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. My insurance is Allstate, and the Other Woman's insurance is allstate also. I will be getting a lawyer.""

I need some advice. I am an assistant manager at a small call center where I have worked for around 5 years (3 of them full-time). It was just announced to me and the manager (the only 2 full-time employees), that we have been bought by another call center that is not located in our town. The manager is relocating and has been offered a full-time job at their main office (with what I am assuming is a decent raise) about 4 hours away. Our part-time workers will be finding out about the closure on May 1st. For those employees that would like to stay through until the end, they will be offered a monetary bonus or compensation. I doubt it's more than a few hundred dollars. If I cannot find another full time job by then, would I most likely be eligible for unemployment? If I take the bonus money at the end, does that mean I wouldn't qualify? What kinds of questions should I be asking before this happens? Do This for 12 Minutes a Day to Release Negative Emotions
Habib Sadeghi, DO, is co-founder of the Be Hive of Healing Integrative Medical Center in Los Angeles. In this excerpt from his book The Clarity Cleanse, he describes a simple writing exercise that can help you process anger and other toxic emotions that may be holding you back.
Purge Emotional Writing (PEW 12)
Every emotion has a charge, and the positive or negative energy an emotion generates has a real and measurable impact on our bodies. The act of writing allows us to physically release some of that charge much in the same way we release tension during sex. Burning the page, which happens at the end of the exercise, allows us to purge even more of that charge and serves as a symbol of letting go. If you can release negative energy on a regular basis, it doesn't accumulate. You could look at this exercise as an act of freedom. Whenever you release your emotions, you lighten your burden so you don't have to carry it with you to your next experience.
This exercise works best if you just keep writing and don't stop to think about what you'll write next or self-edit. Forget about punctuation or making your handwriting pretty, even legible. In fact you may get to the point where your emotions are flowing so fast and furiously that you can't even write real words. That's great. Just keep the pen in contact with the paper and let the thoughts roll out of you. This isn't a time to be polite or fair. This is your side of the story. Also, at the end of the exercise you'll be destroying the pages you've written, so as you write there's no reason to worry about anyone else reading them.
Directions
Before you begin, get a notebook and pen and find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed. Sit down and set a timer for twelve minutes.

Open your notebook and simply start writing about whatever is disturbing your peace. It could be your health, job, finances, personal relationships, or anything else. Don't think about it too much-just start.

At the end of twelve minutes, stop writing. Immediately take the pages to a secure, nonflammable area like a concrete patio, your driveway, fireplace, or barbecue and set them on fire. Don't just tear them up. Fire is transformative and cleansing. Your goal is to neutralize the negative energy, and fire does that by changing the chemical composition of the paper to ash.

Things to remember
• As you finish each writing session, don't read over what you've written! To do this is to reinfect yourself with the negative energy.
• Don't do this on a computer or other electronic device. You want a physical energetic connection between you and the materials you're using-the pen and the paper-so that you can expel as much of the emotional charge as possible. That's why this exercise must be done in your own handwriting.

• You may use lots of powerful, negatively charged words during this process to discharge pain, but remember to never direct them toward yourself. Be kind to yourself and know that you have every right to feel what you feel.
Prescription
Do this every day for five days. Even after five days, it's a great thing to work into your morning ritual as a way of regularly purging negative energy and maintaining clarity. Think of it as practicing good psycho-spiritual hygiene in the same way you practice good physical hygiene by bathing, grooming, and brushing your teeth.

What to expect
Not long ago my day started with a surprise. Intending to get to my office before anyone else, I was up and out the door early. But when I walked outside, I found something I wasn't expecting. My car, which I'd parked on the street the evening before, was sitting there with the trunk and driver's side door thrown wide open. I stopped dead in my tracks.
I remembered being in a hurry when I arrived home the previous evening, wanting to work on a birthday present I was making for my wife before she got home from her office. Could I have been in such a rush that I'd forgotten to close and lock the car? After a brief moment of confusion, I was certain I hadn't left it that way. Then the obvious answer hit me. My car had been broken into.
I went to survey the damage and, sure enough, some personal items and documents I'd left in the car were missing. As I waited for the police to come so I could file a report, I discovered that my next-door neighbors had a security camera that happened to be pointed in the general direction of my car. I knocked on the door and asked if I could see the recording. While it didn't show my car, it did show the space just behind it. That was where I saw a woman on a bicycle riding away with my belongings. She even dropped a few things as she pedaled away, leaving them on the ground like forgotten and unimportant breadcrumbs.
I couldn't stop thinking about this woman. Her image stuck in my mind. I was angry that she had invaded my space and privacy in such a callous and careless way. I was worried about the personal information she had taken. I was annoyed that my day had been hijacked by an event that was beyond my control. All of these thoughts and feelings were swirling around in my head. In short, I started to stew.

After nearly a day of dwelling on what had happened, I turned to PEW 12. I wanted to stop fixating on my feelings of anger and violation, as well as on the woman who had done this to me. Aware that getting stuck can be a danger to clarity, I began to write. Moving my thoughts and feelings from my inner world to the outer one by putting them on the page helped me get past them and move on from the event. After all my years of practicing PEW 12, I find it still helps me through difficult situations of all kinds, big or small.
So that you aren't left wondering whether PEW 12 is working or if you've somehow done it wrong, it's important to understand the range of reactions you might experience after engaging in the exercise. As long as you follow the directions (i.e., remember to write by hand, don't reread what you've written, etc.), it isn't possible to make a mistake. There's no wrong topic to write about, no wrong words to use, no wrong feelings that might come up as a result of what you're writing.
Afterward you may immediately feel lightened and clearer, or you may feel exhausted and emotionally wrenched. It can be a bit like vomiting from food poisoning. At first you feel achy, tired, and awful, but once you've let it all out you start to feel better. If you keep up the exercise over time, you will eventually feel an emotional shift as your burden of negative energy becomes lighter and lighter with each written page. As with other disciplines such as exercise or meditation, the more you do it, the more benefits you'll see.
