why You should vote for aries in the splatoon oc tourney!

(ignore how this isn't a drawing. i still haven't figured out how to make splatoon characters look right in my artstyle...)

so @splatoonpolls is running an oc tourney, and I submitted my lovely boy Aries! so here is my post as to why i think you should vote for him!!

Aries is one of my, uh, multiple splatoon ocs? He moved out from his parents house at ~18, and left for Inkopolis, though still kept in contact with his younger sister Nova when he did.

For awhile, he didn't really do much, just lived a pretty average life. Got some jobs, occasionally played in Turf Wars, made some friends, etc.

Eventually his little sister moved to Inkopolis, too, once she turned 14, and though Aries didn't see her much, he always let her know if she ever needed anything, he was right in the city and to just let him know.

So, y'know, he just kinda goes back to living his life, doing normal things - though Turf Wars were starting to be things he did less often - and eventually got a pretty consistent job when Grizzco started showing up.

...Cons is that Salmon Run is Salmon Run, and he's constantly running around trying to not get himself splatted, but at the same time has started working regularly with someone named Carmen so he's also trying to look out for them since they aren't always the most observant, and so there's always a lot going on. It's stressful, and he doesn't care for it too much, but it's consistent and it pays the rent, so he just kinda sticks with it.

Eventually, he stops hearing from his sister as often, and she kinda just stops responding to his texts for a decent few weeks, so he stops by to visit her.

That's when he finds out Nova - for the past two years - has been member Agent 3 of some secret group that had something to do with that time the Great Zapfish disappeared. Twice. To add to this, he also discovers she almost got herself killed in some underground subway.

Nova drags him along with her to explain things properly to him, and that's when he finds out... Oh, so his coworker Carmen is also part of this group. Also those pop idols his little sister loved so much and always made him learn the songs and dances of, and that girl his little sister is talking about so much, and the current idols giving the news and stuff are involved to some degree with this, and-

Aries takes this information wonderfully, and definitely does not freak out a little bit (he does, he does so bad. He's so so confused and this is all just So Much to process at once).

But, whatever, after this, Nova tells him that that's all he really needs to know, to never tell anyone about this, and he just kinda goes back to his regular life.

Shockingly, this discovery never really impacts his life in any huge way, beyond being slightly concerned every time his sister disappears for a few weeks, or when Carmen shows up to work with some new random injury (though, knowing them that could be anything). He just keeps going along, showing up at work, hanging out with some friends, y'know doing normal things.

...Oh, also sometimes Big Runs happen and his boss calls him in whether he likes it or not. ...Usually not. He really doesn't like Big Runs.

Not because of any possible danger, the short-staffing, and usually having to work with a bunch of random Inkfish he may not do well with, but because he just really hates being called into work randomly, and because he thinks his boss is just... Really tiring to deal with, even if he has no clue who his boss actually is.

Also, eventually he gets some call from his sister along the lines of "hey yknow your boss?" "what about my boss?" "yeah so he's something called a bear. from before we ever evolved. also he just tried to destroy the world and i figured i should probably let you know about that" ".................what" "yeah" "can you please. please explain a single word of what you just said" "no i cannot".

And so then he has to just sit there and try and make sense of that. ...Except then he still gets called into his stupid job, has to drag himself to work, cannot say anything about this to anyone ever, and still has to go to his job.

Aside from all the...... Everything happening with multiple people he knows, somehow he still is just Some Guy and aside from the things already mentioned, pretty much nothing interesting actually happens. He's just vibing. He just kinda lives his life.

So yeah, please vote for my silly little guy Aries!

Let's build a Splatoon OC! (pt 5)

(Sorry for the delay, Big Run paired with school stuff lol)

And it looks like non-binary takes the win by a slim margin! Due to the inherent nature of non-binary identities, it is impossible to encompass the entire scope of such genders within any sort of list. The whole idea is that it means an identity that doesn't fit within the standard mold, after all.

Thus, I will not be attempting to cover all possible non-binary identities within the options presented here, as attempting to do so would be a fool's errand. I may as well try to drain a lake with a collander. Instead, I will be trying to stuff as much variety within this poll as I reasonably can, and hit a lot of the larger general "groups" within the enby umbrella, such as demiboys and demigirls. Agender will also be included despite being the abscence of a gender identity.

This poll will not decide gender presentation. That will be decided later.
