You’ve mentioned that ponies have gone mad speaking with the goddesses. How has that effected Shining Armor, both with Cadence, and, later, a less normal-pony like Twilight (depending on how long it takes for alicorn to reach “can’t hold a conversation with mortals over anything deeper than weather without making them loose their minds” status)

shining armor passed away before Cadence became too big to converse with.

Here is one of their last days together.

She is a century old at this point. She was already an alicorn when they fell in love, so he knew what he was getting into. She would often be lost in the clouds, listening to and granting love to the world around her. He was the last mortal to hold her attention, and she became much more of an abstract concept after losing him.

It is said that her tears became a fountain from which magical water with protective properties flowed. Couples give each other a vial if they have to be separated for a time, and it carries a blessing of Safe Return.

Twilight was smaller than this when Shining Armor passed, but she was still obviously beyond a mortal lifespan. He found solace in knowing that his family had each other.

I had no real reason for this, I just suddenly imagined the reimagining of the Canterlot Wedding arc in the Shireverse (very specifically *after* the whole Changelings debacle was over, and the preparations for the *actual* wedding with the *actual* bride and non-magic-drained groom.). And it's just *so many shenanigans.* I'd imagine that Cadence would roughly be at the size that you drew Chrysalis mimicking her at, so maybe 3 or 4 times bigger than Shining Armor? Small enough to fit in buildings, big enough that getting an outfit for her is a hassle, and braiding her mane and tail when they *dissolve into smoke* is an even bigger one.

Also I this she would be getting the beginning of her telepathic alicorn powers, so imagine: You're a pony invited to the wedding of one of the Royal Guards of Canterlot, and a new goddess. There are many near-incomprehensible things at the beginning, but at the *actual* wedding and reception after the drama has passed, you can just faintly at the back of your head feel or sense this vague sense of giddy, overjoyed excitement. and you realize - oh. that's the bride. That's the force of her happiness at getting married bleeding out into the world so that everyone else can feel it. and also away from all the wedding stuff - what exactly does the Canterlot Royal Guard *do* when the 'Royals' are goddesses the size of buildings or the fucking sun and moon themselves?

she is SO in love!!! and her groom loves her SO MUCH. there's practically fireworks and flowers blooming all over the place. It's a bit overwhelming for ponies not used to the presence of gods.

Is Princess Cadance also a fairly sedentary goddess or does she schmove around more?

she moves around a lot! Each realm has a "season of love" like hearts and hooves day, and it is based on when the goddess of love is passing through! Its a different day for each place.

Love is already a magical element since she ascended, but it becomes much more powerful and spectacular when she is nearby. Being wed under the wingspan of Love Herself is very popular!

You are Surrounded by Flies (fic)

Fun fact! Shining Armor is the last mortal Cadance loved. After his passing, she took so long to grieve, that by the time she emerged from the fog, she was closer to the subject of Flies than to a normal pony. Shining Armor was with her for almost half her lived lifetime, much like a friendship lasting a year is eternity to a child but a blink in the perspective of an elder on their deathbed.

Interestingly, Flies wasn't written about her and Shining Armor, but a different goddess who reached out to an ordinary pony after she was already so far beyond mortality that she no longer understood their lifespans.

Was Princess Candance originally a pegasus in your au (as she was in the show's canon) or can only unicorns ascend?

She did used to be a pegasus, yes!

Pegasus, earth ponies, and unicorns can all ascend. They don't have to be magic users beforehand, though it is the most common. Gods tend to favor those in their image, after all. Cadence was just so good at the whole Love thing that she began to create magic around the concept. Maybe she was a wedding planner? Then the sun took notice, took her under her wing, and granted her a horn and immortality.

Then she met her husband after being a goddess for a while!

Was Cadence Twilight’s babysitter in your au? If so, was this before/after she starting dating Shining Armor? I have a theory it’s no coincidence Celestia’s student was being watched by the fledgling goddess of love

Cadance was a young goddess before either of them were born. She was often found on the grounds of Canterlot's magic school, studying both magic and politics for her eventual rule.

She loved spending time with the young foals of the school, not just twilight, although celestia told her to pay extra attention. At the same time, a young stallion named Shining Armor was promoted to captain of the guard for his powerful protection abilities. He was assigned to protect the princess, and that meant... getting to know her.
