I really appreciate how likable all of the characters on Lower Decks are. As an 'adult cartoon' they could have easily fallen into the cliche of having everyone be absolutely awful but they avoided that low-hanging fruit entirely.

At some point in the latest episode Ransom said something that was so supportive about Boimler and I thought... You know in another show he would've been a Zapp Brannigan; completely unsufferable, secretly cowardly, ready and willing to abuse his authority. But no. Just like every other one of the senior officers on the Cerritos, he actually cares about his crew and his job.

Even in a half-hour comedy cartoon format, there's just this thread of everyone trying to be the best Starfleet officer they can be and it's just so good.

I absolutely love the way T’lyn speaks. Her enunciation is so crisp and precise and yes I know that’s a Vulcan trait, but she takes it to a whole new level. She’s not just brisk, she’s methodical. And I think it perfectly fits her character as a Vulcan struggling more with emotions than her peers. It indicates she’s locked down in superficial ways to make up for the ways she’s lacking control. I love her so much

Sometime between 2372 and 2375 Mariner served aboard Deep Space 9. During this time, she once broke Worf's mek'leth, and, apparently, had it mended before he noticed it was gone. (LD: "We'll Always Have Tom Paris") Mariner later described hating the station, and had, in fact, incurred a sizable tab at Quark's, which equated to "a stack of latinum." The tab was cleared years later when Mariner blackmailed Quark with a data chip copy of "that hologram with your head on Kira's body" that Kira Nerys had altered to his embarrassment, and had deleted what he thought was the only copy in 2373. (LD: "Hear All, Trust Nothing")

-- I need to rewatch seasons 1+2, I had completely forgotten that Mariner had served on DS9. This would have been during/until the end of the Dominion War????

Wrap up episode of Star Trek Lower Decks Season 4 was awesome. A fantastic ending to, what I feel, is a really strong season. Possibly the best of LD so far. Slight spoilers below the cut.

Was really fucking cool to hear Shannon Fall and @wilwheaton cameo as their respective characters. (If ya see this, great job delivering the teenage 'squeak' etc. Can't imagine what it must have been like revisiting Wesley after all these years?) Season 5 can't come quick enough. Super excited for it. Rewatching from s1, everything Mariner says and does hits differently. Phew wee.
