Reasons I love the In Dreams episode
● Peridot and Steven focus!
● It's so funny that half of the episode is about how they both hate a reboot of a show they loved so much. They basically tried to write their own fix-it fic
● Peridot is fueled by her hatred of the reboot but also having fun with Steven and doing something they could enjoy together
● Honestly, as both funny and sad this episode is, it's also the culmination of Peridot's development with Steven. Her willingness to do something fun with him but stop the moment it hurts him or causes conflict shows how far she's come and it's great
● Peridot can draw and storyboard and I love that fact
● Peridot without her visor! Peridot eyes reveal!!
● This is the last episode where Peridot gets at least half the focus, what with her and Steven being the only two characters actually featured in the episode. Yes she does show up in the remaining episodes and with a brief important moment in the last one, but to me this episode feels like a send-off to her character in a good and warm way. Idk it's special to me

🧮💩 - i'm super late but 27 for ao3 wrapped?
my first anonymous ask! Thank you for playing, kind stranger! :D
27 what do I listen to while writing
It's actually really hard for me to listen to anything while actually actively writing, like I can't "hear" the voice in my head that makes sentences if something is on. But I listen to a lot of music while planning, especially because I come up with most of my ideas when I'm out on my daily runs so I'm listening to music during that. Usually, specifically stupid music. And it's everything. Absolutely everything. Cringecore to instrumental to 90s to indie. Olivia Rodrigo to Sufjan Stevens. Puddle of Mudd (I don't want to hear it, 'She Fucking Hates Me" is the reason Thunder even exists) to Bowie. Yeah Yeah Yeahs? A lot of Big Thief. The National. Fucking Tori Amos. It's all over the map. I make no apologies.
One thing is that a lot of time it helps me write somewhat consistent chapters for longer fic is I have sort of a song I associate with the mood and feel of that particular chapter. "Lost River" by Murder by Death was my mood music for all of Milk Run - if I ever got off track tonally or theme wise with that fic, I felt like I could listen to that and recenter. That upbeat, swelling tone of optimism and mystery, like anything could happen.
But a lot of times, especially for individual chapters, it's something totally ridiculous. One of my Milk Run chapters was Talk Dirty by Jason Derulo. (It wasn't even a sex chapter 😭) Some of Five Days to Kill Sifo-Dyas? Judas, by Lady Gaga. Of course.
