قصة قصيرة. يحكى ان مدينة جميلة، كانت تتكؤ بين شاطئ المتوسط وواحة من النخيل، كثيرة الكروم والرمان والاعناب. على تخومها جبال وهضاب اتخذها بعض الناس لهم مساكن من قديم الزمان، اما في المدينة فقد اختار سكانها التجارة البحرية والبرية وصيد الأسماك والفلاحة وصناعات يدوية، كانوا ينعمون بما حباهم الله بخيرات جنتهم، فذاع صيتها وبلغ اسمها مبالغه. في يوم من الايام وبدون سابق إنذار، نزل عليهم وحش ضخم كثير المداخن، شديد النهم، اخذ على الأخضر واليابس برا وبحرا وجوا وتحت الأرض. فإنطفأ نورها ويبس عودها. انتهت القصة.
