Rereading Words of Radiance and finding the line where Shallan says something about only having used stormlight for a short time. We don’t get to know what Pattern’s reply to that actually is, because he started to say something about “Don’t you remember...?” and then “Shallan stopped listening until he was finished.“

Gotta love foreshadowing. For a reveal from two books later.

So I’ve been reading the Stormlight Archive and I’ve fallen in love with Adolin here, and I had to sketch him out.

Also had to draw that scene in the second book where Shallan asks him what its like to poop while in the middle of a battle. I was CRYING laughing. And I did this all very quickly so its very sloppy

Just started Alloy of Law!

I honestly had been putting off starting this, because of re-reading Stormlight Archive and having Way Too Many Feels.  I needed time to recover.  But I finally started it (read through chapter 7), and so far am loving it!  I haven’t exactly avoided spoilers, but I also haven’t actually looked anything up, so I’m going in pretty blind :-)

I barely got through the first page before the setting felt super real

Of all the magic systems Branden Sanderson has written, I think the ones in Mistborn are my favorite to read

I feel Steris’s 20 page write-up on a spiritual level. Like yes, I,too, would develop extensive documentation if I were about to enter a political marriage

Wayne is hilarious and I would support Wax either giving him a big hug or just decking him in the face

Wax is drawn to the mists just like Vin :-)

So many shoutouts to era 1, like I think there were three or four on a single page at one point

Is it weird that I kinda want a textbook on the religions of Scadrial?  Like, give me chapters about the philosophy and practices of following the Path, or the Church of the Survivor, or whatever other religion people happen to follow

Wayne’s shenanigans give me life

The fact that as soon as he realized Marasi recognized him he just full-on let her be in on the conversation was pretty great

Marasi: Oh no!  We’re being attacked by a hoard of armed, dangerous men!  Better take notes!

Wax and Wayne fighting is a thing be behold, like these guys are beyond good at what they do and it’s memorizing to read

Wax needs a hug...him freezing in fights is so tragic and so horribly understandable

Wayne’s “trading” is hilarious though

Until he gets dangerous, then he’s definitely not someone I’d want to tick off

Is Marasi an allomancer?  Or even a Twinborn?  Is she a seeker or something?  The way she promises that Steris isn’t an allomancer seems...suspicious to me

But maybe I’m just reading into it too much

I thought I’d miss the original Mistborn characters, but honestly everyone we’ve met so far is so engaging I really don’t feel like I’m missing anything

This book is glorious, and I intend to enjoy it until the unavoidable assault on my feels rips out my heart... :-)

What if I make a mandras plushie

#i can draw a mandras which means the body is simple enough to crochet fjdjdj #also it's literally the only creature in this book that isnt a crustacean #except spren but most spren aren't really good for plushie? or they're overly complex or... spots of light #i don't remember if there was a description of the mandras colors in the book #once I finish the stormligh archive i guess I might plan to buy the yarn

What is your favorite aspect of disco Elysium? I think for me is the worldbuilding. It just feel so... Alive? Lived in? I have seen other complex and multifaceted worldbuilding (lord of the rings, the stormligh archives) with their factions, minutiae and real world reference, but Disco Elysium has this... messed up feeling that you can only get from billions of people, belief, interpretation constantly interacting. Even in the most preachy anti capitalism form (like in the light bending billionare) you feel that this is an everyday concept, butchered and applied as all human endeavors are when ideals are put into practice.

Revachol and the coalition feel so human, in a way that the most deatiled worldbuilding dont. Like the difference between a sitcom living room and an actual room in say a college room.

It's the prose and dialogue for sure.

Disco Elysium's text was so good it made me stop writing. Whenever I'd try I would just get frustrated that my own writing couldn't capture that mysterious allure and sidesplitting humor that keeps Disco players constantly reading the next paragraph. I /still/ haven't written anything that wasn't for work since playing Disco Elysium. I feel like Disco Elysium is to writers what Hades is to artists; if I could write something that makes me laugh even half as much as savoi-faire saying "It's not sexy. It's not *disco*" did, I'd be able to retire.

I'm not the kind to compare myself to other people and I'm often more than happy to go at my own pace, and yet Disco Elysium's text was so good I got self-conscious anyway. Plenty of games have had lines I really loved and which I read repeatedly to impress them on my brain, but this is the only one that made me feel self-conscious. I love it.
