You know that part in episode three where Win steps into the bathroom while Team is getting ready? And Team shouts out of surprise? You know what Win doesn't do? He doesn't mention sex, nor does he crowd Team's space and make advances. He immediately apologizes, leaves the bathroom, and keeps his back turned. Because having sex with someone doesn't give you the agency to do what you please, and personal space still requires respect. Read that again. Honorable mention of Win realizing Team is avoiding him and NOT crowding him. Win continues being the consent king. Not only the consent king but the consent king who canonically smells good.

just gorgeous . something something how when u say the words of love outloud everything just turns even more tender and sweet, the air drips with honey sweet nectar and the touches linger more and you make love. the way winteam touch eachother as if the other is sacred and glass like with so much of care and love, always love. these shots left me breathless because of how beautiful and in love they look, full of relief and reciprocation and desire. bounprem were perfect and when they said they focused on the emotions when acting out intimate scenes they absolutely nailed it, im so proud of them!

I love the contrast on WinTeam’s relationship during uwma and between us

in uwma they are always bickering and we always saw team pushing him away (literally 😂) while in between us we see how deep their relationship actually runs and how safe they feel with each other

Survivor's Guilt

For the second time in his life, Team is pulled out of the pool after almost dying. For the second time in his life, he's screamed at for drowning, for nearly dying, for doing something wrong.

And it's his fault again, all over again. His fault for swimming without permission, his fault for drowning, his fault for needing Win to save him just like how he needed his brother to do the same all those years ago because after all this time he still hasn't learnt how to save himself, still hasn't learnt how to stop upsetting the people who love him and it's no wonder Win is so angry with him, no wonder Win raises a fist at him just like how his mother raged at him for killing her son and of course he should be beaten, of course he deserves to never be forgiven because like his mother said he should have been the one to die and he's sorry, Team's sorry, he's so, so sorry, Hia, Hia please-

But this time Hia embraces him.

This time Hia cries for him.

This time Hia tells him to never, ever do that again because I can't lose you, Team-

And Team realizes that this time, the anger carries worry, not condemnation. This time, he is cared for, he is wanted, and it's okay that he survived.

This time, Team can finally return the embrace, and when he cries, he cries for the both of them.

As someone who loves character-driven stories above all else, what I appreciate most about Between Us is that it has one thing most BL series don’t have: a major character arc for both leads.

I FUCKING LOVE WHEN BOTH CHARACTERS NEED CHANGE AND LEARN DIFFERENT THINGS FROM EACH OTHER. MWAH. MWAH! 😙🤌

Team begins the series ten years after a traumatizing moment that’s left him muddling through life with chronic insomnia and noxious survivor’s guilt that he keeps entirely to himself. He can’t ever fully enjoy what he believes to be a stolen life and doesn’t want to leave the chasm he’s in without receiving forgiveness from someone who can’t give it to him anymore.

He ends the series able to sleep and communicate his grief and guilt. He isn’t fully healed, but at least he’s trying to get there. He trusts someone enough that he’ll reach for him in his darkest moments, and he’s been comforted by the only other person who still grieves as profoundly as he does.

Meanwhile, Win begins the series defining himself as what he can be for others. He’s the only pillar holding up his family’s roof, his friends’ supporter, vice president of the swim club, volunteer tutor for anyone who asks, etc. The strain of a transactional life has convinced him he’s going to be alone forever.

He ends the series with someone who saw his kindness and refused to stop showing his gratitude for it. He has someone who’ll put him first, who wants him to hear that he’s appreciated, who’s making him believe that who he is has far more value than what he can do for others.

I didn’t know what we’d get from Between Us, and sure, there are minor things I’d change about it if I could (mainly additions from the novel), but I love their story and how beautifully and gently they changed each other.

I think that’s how I’d describe their story: gentle.

oh this made me go absolutely insane and feral because win rarely ever gets mad, it has to be something big for him to get on that level but then u see how easily team calms him down just one touch and glance and wins whole body releases the stress and his face clears. i dont know. its just very sexy to me that teams the only one who has that effect on win
