10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting? I've mentioned before how securityunit.patch326.732.98.program got way more response than I expected, and there's a few other fics that have been like that (including The SecUnit Job, which murderbot fans have been so enthusiastic about that it now ranks 16th most comments in the entire Leverage fandom tag. Murderbot fans are hardcore commenters) but for something that's not technically a fic, the most surprised I've been recently was by all the thoughtful engagement people had to my sprawling Tortallan Heraldry Meta. I expected a couple thanks for making a reference document but so many people asked full on follow up questions and proposed their own theories in the comments, it was super cool.

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick? TOUGH one. I think the one that would adapt best is probably The SecUnit Job—It's already written to be a leverage episode so I think it would work well on screen. That said I'd love to see an experimental comic take on one of my weirder or sadder pieces. Logs, Letters, and Other Lost Things, maybe. or like a lyricstuck of one of my murderbot filks

this is tough. i think i've answered this before and it was about meeting people, and that's still very much true but more recently i guess it's just been the overwhelming love of the community. day in and day out, i am here and the happiest version of myself because of everybody else and their constant support and love. i genuinely cry when people compliment me in this space

i know sooooo little about astrology and signs but i can tell you that my main one is aquarius... i have been told this is painfully obvious about me as a person. i don't know what this mean... im kinda scared by that?

1. How many books did you read this year?

this is a hot topic for me at the moment haha… i try to read 50 books a year and i only have 46 and i’m not sure if i’m gonna make it! it’s just an arbitrary goal based on my average reading rate, but i do like to challenge myself to hit it.

16. What is the most over-hyped book you read this year?

i could really cause some controversy here bc i read a lot of new releases that left me underwhelmed. i unfortunately didn’t like a marvellous light by freya marske, which i majorly hyped myself up for (beyond all the ads and plugs i saw everywhere) because the individual components are all really my thing!

25. What reading goals do you have for next year?

beyond the 50-book thing, i want to get deep into the backlist of some authors that i started sampling this year (octavia butler and james baldwin come to mind), finish the house of niccolo series by dorothy dunnett (this has been a multi-year odyssey at this point), and cross a lot more things off my self-imposed chronic illness nonfiction reading list.

Saddest Jimmy moment

Probably the big twist in 1x9. It was so heartbreaking to see Jimmy so hurt by Chuck. Bob's delivery of 'I thought you were proud of me' always gets me. From then on their relationship just goes downhill and it's very painful to witness.

18. Best Lalo alias

I gotta go with Jorge de Guzman. I love how unbothered he is while in prison, casually laughing while reading the newspaper with his feet up. I also crack up at that scene in the court because he doesn't even try to look innocent. The whole persona is simply hilarious to me.

20- what's your favourite part about fanfic writing?

I love having a creative outlet. My job and my current degree field are not in a creative subsect so I am really enjoying having a place to be creative and meet so many amazing interesting people :) Creating scenes in my mind, translating them to paper, and then feeling really gratified when people enjoy them is awesome.

21- what's your least favourite part about fanfic writing?

Sometimes I find myself getting impatient when I am worried the scene timing isn't write or I can't find the words to the particular scene. Currently I just stick a big fat placeholder in and skip around to it until I am more motivated, haha.

22. How is your Tav’s relationship with their family? Their parents?

Nil's never known their parents, actually. As far as they know they're an only child, too. They've never been in one place long enough to really feel safe putting that 'parent' title onto someone, though they have come close a few times.

26. Give us one of your Tav’s secrets!

God damn this one is hard - he's full of secrets, obviously, but there's some things I'm trying to keep close to my chest for Every Call and Cost, y'know? That said... he's killed people for drugs before. He hates to think about it, and probably won't ever tell anyone that it's in his character.

--- In the face of fear, and out of the well-known reactions to that { fight, flight, freeze, and fawn } Izuru is most likely to go through a cycle of them. Depending on the origins of the threat, and whether he is aware how to deal with said threat, he may sooner fight than anything else, but before doing so, he may go through a momentary freeze phase.

In the face of less tangible fears, like abandonment, or manipulation, for example, he is much more likely to fawn. To say yes to everything, to feel powerless and malleable, with no foreseeable way out. Even when he cognitively and rationally knows he wants to flee or fight.

--- Biting the skin around his fingernails. When he gets anxious, he can end up ripping his nailbeds bloody, by chewing on the dead skin and ripping off parts without thinking.

[ mint julep ] which was their dream job as a kid?

--- Izuru wanted to be an entomologist, at first. He'd spend hours and hours in the Kira estate gardens, studying beetles, dragonflies, and spiders. He didn't know the word 'entomologist' then, but now he understands that that's what he would have loved to be. Even now, he does still collect all kinds of arthropods.

Boogeyman, Ghost, Scream

Boogeyman: what’s your weirdest/most irrational fear? A: I don't have any particularly weird ones ig but the closest I'd say is sometimes I get worried that spiders or some other crawlies are gonna crawl into my ears and destroy my hearing when I'm sleeping.

Ghost: have you ever encountered a spirit or haunted place? A: I used to go diving abandoned lots and houses for fun so probably, but I'm generally not inclined towards acknowledging spirits or haunties like in the Scooby Doo sense. There was one incident that is the most convincing that would be a long story but it could also have been all the alcohol idk.

Scream: favourite horror film? A: I actually really don't like horror movies because they often are actually kinda fucking scary or at least gets me fucked up for half a week. But putting that aside the one I remember being pretty good was the Silent Hill movie which I saw in theaters with my Dad. He loved that horror shit. If you count House of a 1000 Corpses as horror then I guess that would actually be my favorite.

7 & 8: do you have / want tattoos:

I don't have any yet, but definitely want to be covered in them one day 👀 I might start my tattoo journey next year if things come together (I have enough money to spare, find an artist(s) that I like that are within reasonable driving distance, don't have any healing piercings). I've also toyed with the idea of trying to get a tattoo apprenticeship but for several reasons I'm not sure I'm entirely cut out for that 😂

36: where would I like to live:

It would be awesome to live in Japan and/or South Korea for a little while, although I'm under no delusions that I would do well in those places long term given my appearance and lifestyle preferences.

44: random fact about anything:

A lot of the jewelry used historically for stretching body modifications is strikingly similar or even exactly the same as jewelry commonly used today. To the point where someone could, for example, walk into a museum and see a lip plug worn by someone half a millennium ago that looks just like one that they themselves are wearing. Even styles like ear flares, which aren't too typically worn now (due in part to often having specific cultural meanings and to more complicated & bulky designs) have a very clear influence in terms of style, themes, and materials used for modern day plugs and tunnels. It's very cool to think about how humans having been modifying ourselves probably like, forever, and even as practices and meanings surrounding it change over time and location, there is so much that remains the same.

6. Are there any kinks you could hold a fifteen minute presentation on without time to prepare?

caregiver/little dynamic, easily. it was basically my starting point of serious kink interest (rather than just looking up rly specific porn lol.) i love the amount of power that's played with in it, but it's a heavy exchange with a lot of responsibility behind it that i could go on & on about if i had to. :)

25. Are there any lesser known kinks you love?

i def have a wedgie kink 👀 but i don't often see ppl talk abt it generally (like w/o looking it up specifically)

also i love bimboification but i feel like a lot of ppl assume that to mean i want all the fake bits, (which is understandable) but for me it's all about the getting dumbed down, dressed up, & treated like a toy. ♡

Having a dog myself, I learn more towards them. But I have been warming up to cats more and more. It’s not that I dislike them, I just know nothing about cats. They are quite adorable though!

40 Do you like the beach? Do you prefer it sunny or cloudy? 

Hm. I used to go to the beach every year for summer vacation as a kid, but nowadays I live too far away. Not sure if my opinion has changed on them.

I love the sun. Elevates my mood, warms up my skin, and I’m motivated to get out more.

oh brilliant! yes of course!! i was hoping for this one so i'd finally be motivated to write the scene that was inspired by this post. i have literally had it saved in my tumblr drafts since february. and yes i just scrolled through half of my 784 drafts to find it.

Alex clicked the remote, freezing the screen to perfectly capture a very outspoken, very drunk Lena Luthor doing an uncanny impression of Taylor Armstrong in front of a throng of paparazzi.

“Can we watch it again?”

“No,” Alex answered tersely, setting the remote next to three overflowing folders, a coffee mug that needed to be filled with something a little stronger, and a cellphone she had to silence after the hundredth social media notification sent it rattling off the table.

Nia slouched in her chair with a ‘hmph’ and muttered something that sounded like garbled nothing to normal ears but very much like ‘never any fun,’ to Kryptonian ears.

“Right,” Alex continued, her attention directed across the table. She’d spent the majority of the recording with her face downturn and fingers pinching the bridge of her nose in what could only be described as ‘resignation’ mixed with the ‘I’m not mad, just disappointed’ strategy she had been trying with Esme.. “Care to explain what compelled you to proclaim you... infinite, cosmic link with Supergirl?”

“Not really, no,” a much more subdued, much less drunk Lena answered.

“Seems pretty self-explanatory,” Nia chimed in, spinning in the chair next to Alex. “Luthor can’t hold her liquor.” She bounced a clicky pen on the table-surface to accentuate the point. Alex gritted her teeth.

“I most certainly can-”

“Channel 7 says otherwise,” Nia grinned. The clicky pen was pointed accusingly.

“That,” J’onn began, and then pen clicked in offense, “is the least of our concerns-”

“Exactly,” Alex interrupted while blindly swiping the pen from Nia's hand and slamming it onto the table. “Do you have any idea how many conspiracy theories have started because of this? This has gone national-”

“International, actually,” Brainy added. “Canada and Australia have both picked it up.”

“Which means it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the world is needling around about- about…” Alex’s face plunged closer to a shade of raspberry.

“About what, Alex?” Lena asked. She leaned forward, arms crossed with her super sexy calm, cool, and ceo-collected face. It was almost working too, except for the mischievous glint and flicker of her eyebrow that revealed she was not taking this remotely serious enough for the eldest Danvers sister. “About my throuple with Kara Danvers and Supergirl?”

Alex’s face found her hands. Nia sputtered laughter from behind her own. J’onn stared longingly toward the closed door. Brainy scowled in confusion.

“It cannot be a throuple if two members are the same person,” Brainy said, glancing quickly toward Nia who nodded in confirmation.

“CNN doesn't know that. But fine, call it infidelity, stepping out on-” Lena offered lazily.

“Still not the point. You’ve jeopardized Kara’s secret identity,” Alex interrupted crossly. “And now you've put her in danger of-”

“I thought it was sort of sweet.”

Five pairs of eyes turned toward Kara who, until now, had remained silently observed. She sat at the head of the table wearing her suit and a recent bout of puppy love. Two pairs of eyes were gobsmacked, the third was failing to hide the glee over the entire exchange, and the fourth included a quick wink that made Kara’s cheeks flush even redder and bat her figurative tail even harder.

“Sweet. Right, well,” Alex began again, “‘Sweet’ doesn’t exactly handle the problem, does it?”

“It’ll blow over; these things always do,” Lena added. “We can have Andrea run a boring fluff piece about my night on the town being a slew of misguided comments. Say I said the earth was flat and that I challenged the Second Law of Motion or something. Make it dry. Everyone will chalk it up to part of that.”

“Fine.”

“And we can put this whole thing to-”

“Don't you dare-” Alex warned.

“-bed.”

Alex sighed, J’onn climbed to his feet like a tired high school teacher, Nia bounced giddily in her chair, and Lena was already glancing over at Kara and giving her a look that suggested they were not going to make it through the day without a trip to the broom closet. 

Kara's cheeks flushed even redder if that were remotely possible.

And so a fluff piece was written, the tabloids took a few lazy swipes at another Luthor edging toward instability, and then the story deflated entirely into obsolescence. The news cycle moved on, Alex's blood pressure returned to normal, and Kara was permanently living on cloud nine.

Everything was fine.

Everything was great.

Everything was going swimmingly.

Until the second video was discovered.

From the same night.

Nia brought popcorn. J’onn brought a heavy sigh. Alex brought a decade of instantaneous aging. 

“Care to explain?” Nia asked with her best angry-Alex impression. 

Meanwhile Alex was struggling to unclench her jaw.

“Deep fake?” Lena offered lamely.

“Deep fake,” Alex parroted. “You think someone somewhere invested the time to deep fake Lena Luthor and Supergirl making out? For what? Fun? Kicks? Laughs?”

“They already spend hours writing steamy fanfiction,” Lena shrugged. 

“They what-?” Alex choked.

“Hot, steamy, inspired sex, really-”

“No-”

“Kara, darling, do you remember the one with my desk and the full-length windows?”

Kara flushed but nodded. Nia squealed with delight. Alex had had it.

“Enough-”

“Or the one where we lived in an alternate universe and you were a cowboy and was your-”

“Stop. Stop it.” 

Lena leaned back into her chair, a smile of victory spreading across her face.

“I’m just saying, stands to reason someone might show us in the throws of deep, passionate-”

“I don't want to know. I don't. Want. To know,” Alex interrupted, hands cupped around her ears.

“Cosplay?”

Again five pairs of eyes turned to Kara. 

“Could've been cosplay.”

“I can't believe… J’onn can you… handle… this,” Alex waved between the two.

“Should we watch it again?” Nia suggested. “Just to check Kara's theory.”

And without preamble, she clicked play again. It was far fuzzier, far more amateur, and far less deniable than the first.

“Charlie, Charlie, baby look here,” the phone holder shouted over a group of laughing, tipsy NCU students. “Do the impression again, please? I want it for-”

“Yo, yo, check it out.” 

“Is that-?”

The camera pivoted from the ginger-haired Charlie to a dark alley between 

“Oh damn, is that Supergirl?”

“And… Lena Luthor?”

“I knew it. I told you!”

The stage whispers were doing far more for Alex’s discomfort than the shaky camera zooming 2x onto what was very clearly Supergirl pressing Lena Luthor into a wall and doing a very good job of ripping Lena’s $1,200 blouse open. 

“Ooph, Mrs. Fischer is not going to be happy about that,” Nia commented.

A glitter of buttons bounced off the sidewalk, and Supergirl’s mouth was moving hungrily and decidedly across the exposed skin.

“We’ve seen enough,” Alex chimed in and reached, some might say ‘desperately’, for the remote in Nia’s hands. “Once already scarred me for life-”

“But we won’t know until we see drunk, cosplay-Lena’s face. It’s for science, Alex,” Nia answered, clutching the remote like the lifeline to a sinking ship and climbing onto and over the conference table just as ‘cosplay’-Lena pulled ‘cosplay’-Supergirl’s mouth back to her.

“Bullshit,” Alex hissed, making quick work of scattering across the same table. 

Meanwhile ‘cosplay’-Supergirl’s hands were no longer visible and the gang of NCU students were actively chanting them on. “Nia Nal, if you do not turn that off right now-”

The chase continued under the table, over three chairs, and around a trash bin Nia knocked over in a valiant attempt to slow her assailant. And while Nia and Alex made a mess of the conference room, ‘cosplay’-Supergirl was making an absolute mess of ‘cosplay’-Lena’s bun-

“Never!” Nia huffed and side-spun before making a poor calculation and tripping over an empty chair. Alex saw her window and lunged, tackling Nia, gripping the remote free and slamming pause just as ‘cosplay’-Lena found the zipper to ‘cosplay’-Supergirl’s suit.

“Do you have any idea the-” Alex’s vitriol stopped in its tracks. Why? Because they were totally and completely alone. No Brainy or J’onn and worse, no Lena or Kara. “What… where’d they go?”

“Probably the broom closet,” Nia mused.

😇 The lore of Angel!Rire is essentially:

Possibly rogue angel that kills people under word of God.

Word of God being debatable because his criteria for killing people changes a lot - (eg: might kill a bad person cos they’re “bad”, similarly will kill a good person to get them to heaven faster, similarly will just “mercy” kill whoever because humans are a plague to themselves and others etc) - EITHER WAY no one seems to be stopping him.

Also debatable is whether he believes in his justifications for his actions or if he’s just doing it for fun and purposely smoke-screening that fact.

I have described their main similarity before as deception since they both seem viable (as a normal human / normal angel) at first. Their main personality difference is that their modus operandi is flipped - Demon!Rire will often see how long he can con someone, but will eventually reveal his true nature and will match what he says with it. Angel!Rire is more blunt and will reveal his true nature almost immediately, but will continue saying things in complete antithesis to that reveal thus masking the reality of his intentions.

I do know what OCTs are! But I probably would never join one due to lack of time. They seem to be very large commitments and i’d be better off trying to find that time to do BP :V

There is no set location for BTD (considering that me, Gato and EP all come from diff countries LOL)...other than maybe “Earth” and “some city/town place that predominately speaks English”.

This is, actually, one of the more popular questions I get asked over time about Rire XD; Which makes me think I need to update my FAQ to include it. Anyway in my FAQ i put it like this:

CAN RIRE FEEL LOVE? I don’t know if you could classify what he feels as “love” in the same definition we are used to…

And from other answers to similar qs:

IF he becomes fond of someone for whatever reason, he will probably become more possessive. His methodology might not change so much, but there would be more aftercare (cos if you want someone to last longer...)

I never go any more in depth when answering these kinda qs even though i’m sure people would like me to XD

At first I was going to say “I don’t know Depeche Mode”, but when i looked them up on Youtube i saw “Just can’t get enough” and was like OH I KNOW THESE SONGS.

As for Rire it’s not super in line with his usual, but I don’t think he’d mind the music!

He’s gotten used to moving between different climates quickly so it doesn’t really affect him as much.

You would not be the first so go for it if you want lol.
