saw a beautiful green coloured crab spider on inat and was like surely a spider this beautiful and this wonderful can easily be identified down to species level!
turns out theres about three or four species that are virtually impossible to distinguish even with the help of a microscope (because their palps and genitals are often tiny and easily mistaken for juvenile) and that, horror of horrors, their localities overlap

another very tiny lady, this time a crab spider (genus Tharrhalea)!
many species of spiders disperse as newborns via ballooning-- drifting with the wind on a long thread of silk in search of a new home. this girl was doing just that, and flew straight into me while out in the garden. after a quick photo op I put her on a high branch nearby so she could continue on her journey :)

so tiny!! in total she was maybe 3 or 4 millimetres long.
