"i feel like luffy knows right from the start who to fight." chopper gets it! the rest of the crew is waiting for him out on the bridge because they know this isn't their fight and all they can do is wait for their captain. the marines can't believe that this tiny group of pirates wiped out cp9 because this straw hat was a rookie, and the rest of the crew shouts out to him that they made it to the bridge, they got robin, and all he has left to do is kick lucci's ass and they can leave. and luffy smiles.

#the marines: WE HAVE IDENTIFIED PIRATE HUNTER ZORO AND NICO ROBIN #... and NO ONE ELSE #god zoro the reputation you have that your name is known throughout the east blue and across the grand line #(yes i know he got his first bounty poster after they crossed BUT THE POINT BEING his name is KNOWN by many and was early on/first) #luffy picking a fight with the 'big bad' can easily be written off as 'oh he's just picking fights with the biggest guy' which yes but no #picking fights is more than just throwing a punch at the first person he sees #and it's been well established from jaya that you need to be able to gauge which fights are worth it #(luffy's fight with bellamy is actually one of my current favorites because it's him yammering and then just one punch) #and i think luffy's logic is a mix of things! one being that this guy has it coming because he had a major hand in robin's plight here #and other that he's the captain so is it not his job to look after his crew? take on the fights they shouldn't have to? #it's very important that each straw hat (and pirates as a whole but esp this crew because they're small) can pull their own weight #but you know luffy won't be pulling any of his punches #does any of this make sense my brain is fried #kate watches op #enies lobby #this was a post about chopper lmao
