how would you describe coheed and cambria genre-wise? I've seen all sorts of descriptions lol
tough question! I mean they have ska songs and synth heavy dance tracks and straight up metal. so it gets complicated... but I'd call them prog rock with strong metal, emo, and pop-punk flavoring. because of that, and their symphonic elements, prog is really the easiest umbrella? plus long ass album titles and songs with multiple movements is such prog behavior

Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables - Dead Kennedys
Act I: The Lake South, the River North - The Dear Hunter
The Second Stage Turbine Blade - Coheed and Cambria
Crash Love - AFI
The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall (had an insane week there where I lost my mind over phantom for some reason)
Two Tongues - Two Tongues (loved this in high school so much and it still holds up for me)
Two Tongues Two - Two Tongues (never got around to listening to this one when it came out, didn't like it as much)
Team Goon - DI
The Feeding of the Five Thousand (The Second Sitting) - Crass
In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 - Coheed and Cambria
It Was Hell Down There - The Dead Next Door (horrorpunk band that showed up in my Spotify suggestions, pretty fun!)
Sounds of Laughter - TSOL
Red Medicine - Fugazi
Cave World - Viagra Boys
The Great Regression - DITZ (really liked this one, I hadn't heard of the band before but it's really good post-punk)
Out of Step - Minor Threat
Live Through This - Hole
Celebrity Skin - Hole (going through it lmao both of these hole albums were on the same day)
Let It Be - The Replacements
First Two Seven Inches - Minor Threat
Suicidal Tendencies - Suicidal Tendencies
Lies for the Liars - The Used (man I forgot how this album is just banger after banger after banger)
Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness - Coheed and Cambria
Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death - Dead Kennedys
Is A Real Boy - Say Anything
Never Trust a Happy Song - Grouplove (this album definitely feels out of place compared to the rest on this list but I do love grouplove and have since high school)
New Politics - New Politics
I think for October my fun little challenge will be to mostly listen to ooky spooky albums...
