random harry / jean pre-martinaise thoughts. headcanons mostly since the game doesn't give Much to go off. wrote this to gather my thoughts for how to write the jean/harry dynamic.

warning for suicide mentions and also dora is underage (17) when harry meets her. also abusive toxic relationships and domestic violence. also brief nsfw mention (just "they fuck" and that's it, nothing in-depth). also these people r homophobic

so jean:

Partnered with Harry from '46 to '49

officially met harry after dora left harry in '45. Never met dora. was aware of / had talked to harry b4 then, but they didn't work together

Partnered w Harry after a previous partner left Harry.

Only guy left (along with trant but jean forced trant to stay)

then Harry timeline maybe:

Met Dora when he was 23 and she was 17 in ’30. They lived together for 3 years. The first 2 years are perfect, happy, out of a dream.

Cracks start to form in the facade about year 3, but they try to work through it. But she’s young and naive. She convinces him to join the rcm bc he cares so much for revachol it hurts. Stop wasting your potential being a gym teacher, be a cop. Save the world

And he does he goes and joins. But then they start to run out of money. And he starts to lose it

Joined rcm in ’33 when he was 26

Did so many cases probably coz of stimulants + alcohol

Has had amnesiac blackouts in the past

In the beginning Harry's GOOD. Hes SMART. He manages. And then they load case after case on him. And hes already manic depressive as fuck (bc i hc him with bipolar i). So hes already working up a healthy alcohol addiction. Bc he and dora argue a lot.

After the first year or two, the arguments start to get more and more frequent. They’re not good for each other, but you don’t just Leave someone. You have to stick with them. And maybe dora also had hope he’d get better

But towards the end it’s toxic as fuck, she hits him, he hits her, they yell at each other. Toxic environment breeds toxic out of both of them.

She basically matured around him, under his influence, so it’s VERY abusive, and she starts to come into her own person and demand independence, and fight back, and he doesnt like that. And she also doesnt like it when hes sad and she TELLS HIM that. And he doesnt like that. Bc shes SHIT with his mental illness and not patient or understanding at all. Plus he's drunk and high so much, so as far as she’s concerned that’s why he’s like that (his manic and depressive; she blames it on the drugs and the drink) (ignoring the fact that he’s been this way since the beginning bc the first two perfect years remain without issue in her mind, even tho there are plenty of issues there)

Dora left him in ’45, 12 years after he joined the rcm.

She’s 38 in ’51, he’s 44. 6 year age gap. Were together for 15 years

Had a previous partner in the rcm from 33 to 46. 13 years working together!!!!!!! (Harry was 26 to 39; old guy (born in ’85) was 54 to 67)

Maybe an older guy who mentored harry. Like a real noir type of guy. Gets partnered with this new young guy bc hes really good at his job and harry can keep up. Was like. Yeah no I dont want to work with anyone anymore, but then theres harry and he needs a partner and the older guy is like fuck. I like this one lemme grab him. Bc he sees harry’s potential. They work REALLY well together. Old guy teaches harry a lot of shit. hes super bitter on the outside and hardened by life, and harry gets a lot of his vices from him. The guy’s a drunk old cranky bastard and no one wanted to work with him and they all thought oh this guy won’t lighten up. But he picks harry. And harry opens him up.

He’s really good with harry’s manic episodes. But it’s like. They bounce off each other, balance each other out. But also maximize the shit. Encourage the bad habits in each other

Old guy is shit with the depressive episodes. Harry says I feel like killing myself, old guy says go ahead and do it nothing in life matters

Harry got manic sometime in that time frame in the year and a half after dora left him and said FUCK this old guy. Fuck your cranky bitter awful ass youre dragging me down. Youre too old. You cant keep up with me. I want that one other guy (jean) bc he’s smart he’s young hes capable he can fix me. Fuck off, im working with jean now (maybe he and jean have had a case or 2 in the past that helped harry realize jean's potential)

So the old guy quit. He just ditches he’s like ok suffer whatever see if I fucking care. Imagine your partner of 11 years starts getting super pissed at you and now getting emotionally dependent on you and clingy as fuck the old guy just COULDNT handle that

harry was manageable in the beginning. it started to seriously go to shit when dora left him bc before he would go home and take it out on dora. so his work didnt see his bad side until he lost her. She was his anchor, his life, his rock, and when he lost her he had no fucking idea what to do. started to take out his issues on his coworkers instead

Jean again:

Jean has been in the rcm for a while, maybe since he was 20 in ’37? He’s a sensitive sort of guy in there, he feels how the world hurts, so he wants to help. But also he joins bc it makes him feel tough. He can push people around. Gives him an excuse to be a bully. See dad? IM TOUGH. Fuck you (he has major mommy/daddy child abuse issues. bc i hc him as having been a very sensitive kid who cried a lot. and got bullied by everyone for it, family especially. now he has a major superiority / not-man-enough complex)

Hes also Really good at his job. Hes happy doing housework!!! He likes patrolling and giving people tickets and doesnt want to do much else. plus he's very bonded to his horse. therapy horse

Jean is diagnosed by the lazareth for depression when he’s 27 bc he slips a little on his copwork I think.

Harry grabs him in ’46 when jean is 29, so jean does horse for 9 years, then 5 years of homicide with harry where he goes thru the absolute stress of his life getting thrown into lieutenant position completely unprepared for it

Jean is ok with harry at first bc he has hope, jeans a guy who hopes, and hes like ok harry will get thru this hes smart, but slowly jeans like ah fuck nope. This ones a lost cause. They work together for 4 and a half years!

Harry helps jean thru a breakup and is genuinely nice. I think harry slips into a manic episode when first working with jean and jean knows that side of him first, then he stabilizes, then sinks into depression again

In the 4 years they work together:

In the beginning of working with harry, jean breaks up with his girlfriend of like. 6 years. Who he’s known since ’40 when he was 23 (it’s '46 now and he’s 29). Harry helps him through it and jean gets really attached to harry coz of that

About 3 years in (in '49) they have homosexual relations. Ie they fuck. Bc harry gets really awful. Really starts slipping

And the case load is a LOT for jean. And he’s been thru 5 girlfriends in three years since that other one and it’s been shit. They’ve all left him bc he has to choose work over them (and also coz he's a crybaby but also coz he's super pushy and controlling)

And jean’s lonely as fuck. And he’s starting to drink too bc of harry. And bc of his influence. And they fuck and jean gets obsessed with him and he’s like fuck this is gonna’ wreck everything (there's a lot of internal homophobia here too). He really tries to be professional but it’s HARD when harry’s got so many ups and downs

Bc jean genuinely is there for and DOES help harry. Harry just. Keeps relapsing. Constantly. But jean keeps coming back bc Harrys so clingy and genuinely nice to him etc

Jean’s dealt with harry suicide attempts like so many times in this time period. Countless

But in ’49 b4 they fuck, harry tried to make a move on jean bc he really was getting obsessed with him, and jean denied him bc jean’s homophobic as fuck

A week later harry kills himself. Or. he’s supposed to be dead, but he doesn’t die somehow

That’s when he goes missing for a few days and jean finds harry in his apartment half dead. Tried to hang himself

They get SUPER codependent after that. And it gets toxic. Bc jean hates being emotionally vulnerable with another man and bc harry can get violent when rejected or just violent unexpectedly

There may be a jean suicide attempt in there too, but something like passively suicidal: doesn’t have a regard for himself or a sense of self-preservation. Harry’s had to save his life before, help him out of danger (and vice versa tbh)

Jean is more trigger happy than harry, so part of the reason harry has so few kills is bc jean took them. But also jean is really good at stopping harry. And ALSO harry just. Really doesn’t want to kill people. He talks first, shoots later (unlike Kim who shoots first, talks later). Hes a really competent cop, its just that his unmedicated bipolar ass and his work stress and his breakup issues and the jean codependency really drown him

i know there's definitely more going on here, and i could go earlier about harry (he's a child of divorce and learned a lot from his parents about how to treat a partner (ie yell and shout at her), he has a lot of trauma from working child labor and also from watching his friends die in his teens) but these r my basic vague thoughts rn

if u can find patterns online to use they will be ur best friend, winging it CAN work but. not always DSGKJ

so there would be a lot to cover but im just gonna gonna start with the tentacles- mine are made from minky but i know ppl who've used like, a more vinyl-ish material? do NOT fucking use satin, i made that mistake with my original agent 3 cosplay and i nearly smashed my sewing machine out of pure rage. satin + minky is SO slippery and no matter what u do the pattern will just, Fuck Up. its why the tentacles were shaped so weirdly :/ so this time i stuck to ONLY minky and the result was way better. i had a friend help with hand sewing em and it meant more control over how the shape turns out so it was way better than my first attempt. (i then used plushie stuffing to give em shape and it makes em sooo fucking squishy n soft)

I FORGOT TO MENTION. the tentacles are safety pinned to the inside of the hat for stability, im not wearing a wig or anything.

eye mask? use eyeliner or body paint! ive done both and they both work well, id recommend using a setting spray tho. and if ur gonna wear contacts like i did, ALWAYS put contacts in before any makeup. this avoids the risk of getting shit in ur eye while putting em in (also my eyes always water a fucktonne lmao) oh and if u use a blind contact, be prepared to have fucky vision whenever ur in cosplay. agent 3 cosplayers stay suffering 💔

if ur gonna hand sew anything, definitely try to use proper techniques. luckily my gf is very good at that kinda stuff and they helped me through sewing the poncho/cape/idk fuckin old rags, i used a whip stitch so the threading isnt visible (im thinking of modifying it to add big thick cosmetic stitches so it looks more game-accurate, same with the patch on the hat)

craft stores are ur best friend for supplies! if ur australian, i highly recommend spotlight and lincraft for pretty much everything. spotlight usually has the most variety in fabric, but i always need to order my minky online. if ur not an aussie, prolly just google which places to go to DSGJ idk what yall have.

but heres my number 1 tip for cosplay- HAVE FUN! i know this sounds cliche but seriously. i sometimes to caught up in my head over little things, like "this isnt game accurate enough" "the colours are off" "people are gonna notice (X)" but cosplay is supposed to be fun, silly, crafting experience, a hobby, but most of all ur just dressing up as a fictional character and what could possibly be dorkier than that? feel free to do things differently, u never need to adhere to canon (i literally did the hijack scar AND i have a face full of metal), being accurate is NOT the most important thing, and of course- body type, gender, skin colour, NONE of these things should stop u from doing whatever the hell u want. the naysayers can go fuck themselves <3

and if u dont have the budget to buy good supplies, theres nothing wrong with a closet cosplay! work with whatever ya got!

Thank you qvq. The swap at first was actually between Tommy and Gordon? But the more I thought about it, the idea of everyone sorta be shifted into spots they usually aren't sounded kinda fun?

So I really spiced things up and shook the swap box aggressively. Gordon still swaps with Tommy because I liked the idea of him being the one 'sort of sane kinda liked' person in the group. Everyone still kinda has their usual personalities, some things change but overall they're still the same very loved characters just with different roles.

Bubby the group's brand new leader. He doesn't particularly like his job or really anything else about Black Mesa, but it pays. I've been bouncing back and forth with the idea that he was still made in Black Mesa? And was made specifically for doing the more dangerous jobs, but I haven't fully settled on it. Bubby simply wants out of Black Mesa.

Coomer is the fun 'evil' security guard but with everyones favorite Coomer personality. He still comes off as very friendly, but his intentions are very obviously not all too pure. Bubby likes him despite Coomer constantly trying to set them back, but the rest of the group isn't so sure. Coomer might be friendly but theres very obviously something off about him. His entire game plan is to keep the group from finishing because he himself fears the end.

Gordon's the resident 'sane' member of the group. Now if anyone changes quite a bit in this au its probably Gordon? Hes still got his personality hes just...a lot more...I don't want to say innocent? Hes just nicer. A goof. He talks a lot about his son Joshua and their dog Sunkist that Tommy made him to watch Joshua. Gordon is not human. Gordon relies on Bubby the most and becomes more and more upset every time someone kills another scientist or gaurd. Gordon still very much is the one who loses his hand. His own goal is to get home to his son.

The best way to perfectly explain Gordon is:

Tommy's the tutorial A.I.! The very...very broken tutorial A.I. Tommy is a little more cryptic but otherwise still very friendly and welcoming to talk to. Bubby likes Tommy in particular a lot. Tommy does have clones and does frequently talk about the Play Coins. Tommy also constantly calls Bubby "Professor Bubby". If there was anyone in the group Bubby trusts more than Gordon, it would be Tommy. Tommy is probably closest with Gordon in terms of friendship before the Cascade. Tommy doesn't quite have a goal, he just simply wants to help.

Benreys a bastard scientist whose here to cause problems just because he can and also sorta push the story. He frequently worked with Tommy and Gordon specifically before the cascade and constantly uses the excuse "Its for science." whenever they do something arguably dangerous or stupid. Benrey for the most part isn't nearly as much of a problem as he is in canon? Because hes in Bubby's place. Hes helpful, very helpful, just kinda an ass who sometimes comes off as being against the group. He doesn't get along very well with Bubby but does get along alright with Tommy and Gordon. Benrey was made in Black Mesa. Benrey's personal goal is unknown, but Bubby assumes its simply just to get home like everyone else.

Haven't fully figured out Darbold, Gman and Forzen yet because frankly any one of them in the others role is arguably hilarious to think about, I'm still sorta working on what I like best with them. Do know Gman is still Tommy's dad tho, that doesn't chsnge.

How many rounds he can last depends directly on how long they last. The longer they are the less rounds he can do, but the longer they are the more pleasure he gives you.

hello everyone i realized i wasnt gonna get through today without finding something to keep my brain busy so ive been designing a horror theme park in my head all day here r my ideas so far

- there would be two main theaters, a ghostface theater and a pennywise theater (except. imagine they have creative names, ) 

- ghostface theater is a 3D show theater modeled in the like NOW SHOWING: STAB (FILMED IN STABOVISION) tacky retro horror aesthetic from the second movie 

it would show a park-exclusive Scream 3D short, and also would sometimes be used for upcoming horror sneak previews and other shows, along with indie horror spotlights 

sometimes a ghostface park character would sneak in among the guests and sit next to you (all the main slashers would be around as characters to do autographs and pictures and stuff but i think it would b fun for them to also like. peek out of windows or sneak into shows so you never know where they’re gonna be) 

- ghostface also gets a corresponding gift shop for Scream as well as just all things retro horror, vintage posters, art stuff made from horror vhs tapes like these, stuff like that

- the pennywise theater is a circus tent that houses a stage show, decorated with vintage style PENNYWISE THE DANCING CLOWN posters, old dusty flickery carnival lights, creepy pennywise fortune teller machines, etc 

the stage show features highly elaborate puppetry culminating in a HUGE deadlights pennywise about to consume the audience until the Losers appear at the last second to vanquish him, encouraging the audience to shout him down with them to help defeat him 

- also has a babadook photo spot made to look like the pop up illustrations (and sometimes a babadook character actor visits for pictures) 

- nearby there’d be a midway with carnival games, maybe those balloon squirter clown games with classic pennywise, something for Us maybe a mirror maze or something. a sandwich shop called The Sand Witch

- im neglecting most of the major slashers bc i dont really care about them lmfao maybe freddy kreuger gets a funhouse or something. all i remember about him is the wiggly arms and the blood geyser thing 

- id want to do themed outfits for workers like disney where like everyone in the pennywise area are circus performers and scary clowns, some are vampires some are zombies etc 

- i cant think of what to do with childs play, id absolutely want to have a darkride for something but i cant think what would translate best. it’d be cool to have like an interactive animatronic chucky somewhere, like you can ask him questions and stuff (however that roz animatronic and california adventure works, like how she comments on specific guests on the way by so clearly someone’s controlling it but it still sounds like her) 

- i dont generally care about fnaf at all but i think it’d be great as a real freddy fazbear pizza place with the animatronics performing “normally” (but slightly Wrong. big inspiration from these voice acting clips where they’re just a little glitchy and sometimes its like ‘wait what did he just say’) but at certain times there would be staged “glitches” where the robots suddenly go rogue and like. the lights go out or a curtain falls when its “not supposed to” or something and one of the animatronics DISAPPEARS!! and its like “uhhh NOT TO WORRY, FOLKS, EVERYTHING’S ABSOLUTELY FINE...I...uh...[stage whispering into a walkie talkie] where is he. FIND that bear, NOW-” [freddy’s little song starts and you see his face flickering in a window right behind them]

maybe have actors planted as “guests” who get dragged off 

- then theres the shining’s Overlook Hotel and the Bates Motel and my first thought was to do some kind of walkthrough haunted house attraction in the overlook but maybe those are better suited to just being themed actual hotels connected to the park. definitely want the overlook hedge maze though

- anyway also a graveyard garden ft a garden of poisonous plants and a garden of carnivorous plants complete with an animatronic audrey II and other monster plants but also would have real poisonous/carnivorous plants as well 

- and a little witch apothecary shop in there with like. witchy themed candles, teas, bath stuff, etc. an Oddities Emporium somewhere that has weird morbid collectibles from around the world, bones and preserved jar specimens and stuff. some things would be like real collectors items or intricate reconstructions some would be like, models/soap that looks like an alien head in a jar/etc 

- there would be a Dracula’s Castle attraction designed like a classic haunted house ride ft the universal monsters, and a corresponding vampire themed fine dining restaurant with live music at night (or. un-live) 

- maybe some kind of mad science lab themed bar with drinks in test tubes and beakers and stuff

- jigsaw escape room challenge themed for Saw but obviously not ever putting guests in any real danger, im trying to think of how you could recreate the. like. it’s like an escape room puzzle, but when you figure out the answer there’s that moment of “oh fuck. oh god fucking fuck no” when you realize what you have to do, how could you recreate that in a fictional/for-fun setting where the guests know they aren’t really in danger and you’re not actually putting anyone at risk. like maybe gross but safe challenges. i dont know. maybe some kind of system where if you “die” you’re out of the game and there’s some prize if you “survive” to the end so someone might have to “sacrifice” themself but no one’s actually getting hurt 

it’s like how do you balance “you wanna scare people” with “you want them to understand they are in fact actually safe” 

- a special effects workshop that showcases some behind the scenes makeup and practical effects, makeup artists doing horror face paint/etc for guests

- a ghostbusters themed blaster ride (the ones where you shoot targets n get points) (we have ‘ghost blasters’ at the boardwalk here lmao im not gonna pretend that wasnt where i got this idea. look up ‘sally corp ghost blasters’ if you’re interested in that) 

- i really want to say ‘and a Mrs. Lovett’s Meat Pies restaurant’ but would that be Too gross. like obviously it wouldn’t be a Real Cannibalism Restaurant lmao but would the theming put people off too much 

anyway thats what i got hire me to design your theme park i have no experience and no capability of actually realizing any of this but boy do i have ideas

she does!! as do all the sl animatronics.. but basically, youve come to the right place bc i love... i love sister location so so much you have no idea!! so ill try my best:

basically, somewhere between the fnaf games, william afton (purple guy as hes named in the books n in this game) disappears off to start his own company, afton robotics, n makes his own pizza place with dancing animatronics. but of course, being the purple shit himself, he makes all his robots built in with child kidnapping/killing devices. the problem? these things r sentient. n they dont wanna kill children. most specifically, baby, the biggest of the animatronics, n the main character. so like, william sets out a grand opening day to test these things right? well, in that very day, his daughter (oh i know. i hate the implication of him reproducing as well. bear with me) goes without his permission up to baby, when shes all alone. n it just so happens that the child kidnapping/killing device activates when kids r all alone, so ding a ling! we got ourselves a murder! this is all, mind you, told in a flashback, by baby, who recalls it with confusion n shock, it seems she rly wasnt in control of the device built inside her, n she says sometimes she still talks to the little girls’ spirit.

anyway a little bit later, william decided it wasnt such a good idea to have these things so out in the open since one FUCKING ATE HIS DAUGHTER so he gets the brilliant idea of instead make it a rental company (you can rent the robots to parties n stuff) n screw off the map. years later even, he guilts his poor abused son, michael afton, to go into the facility the robots were locked up at n fix the mess HE made. so michael comes in as a new technician, n obviously, the robots dont recognize him at first, n some try to kill him with only the intent of getting past him n escaping, while baby has a more... intricate escape plan for everyone. basically, they wanna escape bc: 1. being a robot with a formed sentient conscience n being forced to kill kids at their parties SUCKS MAN THE PRESSURE IS TOO GREAT n 2. on top of that, theyre constantly abused by being given ‘controlled shocks’ (yeah actually electric shocks, MEANT TO HURT) to ‘make sure theyre up for their next performance’.

so yeah, basically, purple guy aka william afton pushes his son michael into this mess of abused traumatized vengeful robots HE MADE, n now he has to survive their wrath. only baby, who wants to get through it without havng to kill a person, is helping n guiding him. anyway, almost by the end of the game were introduced to the ‘scooper’, a device that is used to basically ‘scoop’ out the insides of the animatronics to fix them. in the last night, all the animatronics r scooped, n later, baby leads you to the scooper room, n scoops you. but then you go: ‘hey wait! wasnt she supposed to not kill me?’ well, baby doesnt really know how humans work. she thinks you wouldnt die, n actually, yes, by some miracle, michael is alive! so baby, fuses with the endoeskeletons of her friends to form ennard, a huge endoeskeleton of all of them together, n enters michael to be able to escape unnoticed.

this, however, proves unfruitful, as later its revealed the animatronics confused michael for his father, n they have some disagreements. baby seems to not mind who is it that theyre using n considers herself the leader, arguing that they wouldnt have gotten as far without her. the others disapprove of her behavior though, n the fact that she, you know, put them inside their shitty creator, so they all agree to abandon her, by ejecting her out of michael, whose skin, at this point, looks pretty rotten (literally). this is where it gets foggy: somewhere around the line, michael either: a) finds his dads spring bonnie suit n goes hunt him down, while leaving an eerie message for him or b) becomes the purple guy/springtrap from fnaf 3 as he was only trying to dismantle the animatronics to free their souls, but was again, mistaken for his father. people cant rly agree on their theories to those last two options. i personally choose option ‘a’ because, duh, michael... still innocent. oh also dont worry about his dead sisters ghost, shes ok, its implied she just kinda, frees herself when he takes ennard out i think.

theres also an alternate secret ending thats considered ‘fake’ but very good in which michael finds a secret room n stalls for a long time there, while ennard tries to get in, until ennard agrees to find another way out, n so they both go home n watch some soap operas while eating popcorn. im not kidding. thats literally it. i rly wish it was the canon ending kjhfklhjf
