hi pix i know nothing about qsmp or purgatory but my streamers are in it now so please could you give me a quick summary of lore and stuff i need to know? :3

okay so this is a purgatory event so you really dont need to know any lore as i dont think it will affect any of the competitors at all or at least very little of them.

purgatory is a competitive event. its focused on winning. whether this be by strategy or pure luck. its truly anyones game even if you arent the most skilled player.

last time there were three teams and a lot at stake. which were the eggs lives. only one team could win.

this time the video stated ONLY ONE PERSON COULD WIN the “grand prize” so. like you. the audience nor the participants know anything about purgatory two besides that. and it seems to have a radioactive theme surrounding the event which may be linked to the fact the previous purgatory island where the first event took place got “blown up” by an atomic bomb. so theres that.

last purgatory there was i think three events if im not wrong i could be. all very strategy and pvp type of events. events inspired by capture the flag, bed wars, and such.

every day teams would compete and a single team had the chance of winning daily. by the end whoever had the most wins won the entire event overall. to win you had to gain points. percentages for points were different every day. so the twitter account would tweet something like “Kills 20% Contracts 50% Tasks 30%” which gave the players an idea of what they had to prioritize to win that day. some days were more kill focused and others more tasks and contracts focused.

tasks are your personal missions for the day. things like collecting a certain amount of blocks and killing a number of mobs. these were relatively easy to get done and an easy way to gain points for the day.

contracts were more complicated versions of tasks. whichever team completed and claimed the contract by the end of the day would gain the most points from it. so you’d have instances where One Contract was regarding collecting sand. if green team collected 30k sand and claimed that contract there would be a cooldown until someone else could add a higher number like 31k sand and claim that contract back for their team. taking all the points that the previous team had gained from that contract. this is where we’d get a lot of. interesting moments. overall contracts matter depending on the percentage they get you that day.

I don’t quite recall the schedule but the purgatory server would open at a specific time and close at a specific time. i remember watching by like 1pm est and it closing near like 10pm/12am est. each player had a play time limit so you had to be smart and manage and coordinate your time well with your team. YOU DID NOT WANT TO RUN OUT OF TIME BEFORE THE SERVER CLOSED. YOU ALWAYS WANTED AT LEAST SOMEONE IN YOUR TEAM WITH PLAY TIME LEFT BEFORE THE SERVER CLOSED. arguably the most important times were right as the server opens and right as it closes. the last minutes before the server closes will be the most stressful part of your day by far. anything can change. anyone can win even if its just a minute on the clock.

general game stuff. you lose hunger quicker and food rots so you need to be careful of that. you have hydration so you need to drink water or something like tea to make sure you dont die of dehydration. all the mobs are buffed like insanely buffed. you can have prot 4 diamond armor and still get your ass whooped by an enderman. it is difficult.

NOW. there were also disaster events. like toxic fog, blizzards, meteors, increased hunger (passive mobs also attack you), quicksand (you sink into the floor if you stop moving), earthquakes (if you are in a cave RUN AND GET OUT. THE ROOF WILL CRUSH YOU also nausea effect), mini you (you shrink into a like one block height and are slow), reversed controls, acid rain, radiation (if you have radiation and are nearby crops, animals, or players they will begin to take damage), etc. these would happen in random intervals and you NEED to be prepared for them because if you arent. you will die. and dying lowers your percentage. hence negativity impacting your chances of a win that day. you prepare for these disasters by having certain items for instance the toxic fog has the gas mask counter. all events have a counter. you just have to be fast.

heres the thing though. that was purgatory one. i am 100% sure this time will be different so everything i am telling you could be completely changed and adapted after all the feedback from purgatory one. i dont know if the point system will work the same, i dont know if the disasters will be the same, i dont know if there will be pre determined teams or if it’s purely you make your own alliances, i dont know if the schedule for the server or play time will be different, i dont know WHAT THE STAKES ARE, i dont know. anything could change. but what probably wont change is the anguish of purgatory. because the entire point is to make it feel torturous and draining and hardcore enough to condemn the “sinners”. that is what The Watcher calls the players. The Watcher is the entity that runs the Purgatory event.

it is meant to be a free for all. it is meant to be raw and merciless. so heads up. its okay if you get frustrated. it happens to all of us. now this isn’t specifically at you but to the community overall never never never release your frustrations OVER A MINECRAFT EVENT on the streamers. purgatory caused a lot of discourse and stress for the streamers because the community, specifically on twitter, got toxic. but also as a qsmp blogger tumblr was also not flawless. so again if another player kills your favorite streamer or the team youre supporting is not doing well and getting targeted… it is not the end of the world. the whole point is to be aggressive and WIN by any means. if someone wants to kill someone in game without a second of thought and not allow them to even beg.. so be it. if someone wants to raid someones base and burn all the shit they worked hours for.. so be it. if someone gets into an unfair unbalanced pvp fight and they lose everything.. so be it. it is purgatory. my advice to FULLY ENJOY IT is don’t take it too seriously and filter any neg or discourse tags lol.

heres the thing. purgatory one had certain rules established after a few days and after feedback. when it initially started spawn killing was allowed and as you can imagine after a few days a rule was set to no longer allow spawn killing. im assuming for purgatory two certain rules will be set before the event and creators will be informed of them. i imagine purgatory two will be a more polished version of the original purgatory though im sure it too will have some flaws and criticisms to be had.

besides that purgatory is a very fun event with a lot of funny moments and cool interactions between streamers and i think purgatory two will be 10x better than the first. any new viewers have a lot of awesome stuff to look forward to. you guys are going to love the admins and i just know a lot of cool things are planned and prepared as they always are for qsmp events.

i replayed tlou a bit ago so im gonna share my thoughts about this 7 year old game :) it’ll be mostly criticisms (bc i clearly like the game and havent really said what i dont like about it) and what i hope nd will improve for tlou2. i’ll kinda reference footage thats already been released for tlou2, but i wont mention any spoilers

so my biggest complaint is the gameplay, controls, and maybe the layout of the weapons. 

A big thing during fights that doesnt feel as good as it should be is the movement. I really dont like the forced jog throughout the entire game. I understand it when joel is hurt or the game wants to to focus on a certain thing in the environment, but other-wise it makes it really hard to explore the map naturally. Another thing when youre actively in a fight with numerous enemies surrounding u, theres almost no way to get out of it unless you shoot the enemy, theres no dodge and the L1 to sprint out of combat usually doesnt work well. This was especially frustrating with ellie who normally dies from one hit. In TLOU2 theyre adding the ability to dodge so thats something im looking forward to and hopefully crouching as a way to dodge works better bc in tlou it felt very slow and was normally used for slow stealth in tlou. 

The ai of npcs often broke the immersion by outright running in front of enemies all the time, no matter what character it was. Nd didnt punish the player by having other enemies detect them, which im thankful for, but hopefully joel, jessie, dina, and lev are a bit better in TLOU2. Before Ellie became able to help me fight she often got outright stuck in the middle of me and an enemy. Ellie was unable to be harmed, but it led to these almost comical scenes where me and some hunter were just swinging pipes at each other but entirely missing due to ellie running in place between us and taking no damage from either of us.

The collectibles were very frustrating (due to the mobility i mentioned earlier) and the map at some points were annoying to deal with. A lot of nd’s games seem to put the hidden items in areas behind where you start, or places that are hard to get to and its really annoying when you have to jog to backtrack or even walk at some times. The underwater parts were also irritating bc of joel’s movement too. The map was usually ok, but the part where you can ride a horse was the start of naughty dog trying open world levels (for some reason??) and the first time was really annoying, especially due to ellie not having the horse follow you while you walk and you having to jog back to her. I honestly can’t see this being too much better based on what we’ve been shown. Ellie will ride a horse for at least 2 times, be in a boat, and potentially be in a car. ND also boasted that tlou2 will feature their largest area yet filled with things and thats not very comforting to me. The only thing i could see them doing to make it better is like at least having your horse follow you or letting you full on sprint, but i feel like they gave you the horse so you can traverse the area without running :/. I think nadine does follow chloe eventually in the western ghats part of tll, so it could be better in tlou2 but we’ll see.

The bricks and bottles really felt useless unless it was for a distraction. I also didnt like how they were considered as two separate items so it constantly looked like you could hold more, when it was just the opposite. I dont think you could run and throw bottles/bricks either in tlou, but i know that changes in 2. Hopefully whatever items u can throw are considered one item and it could be more than bottles/bricks.

sometimes interactions were in an area that were around enemies, so they would get ruined and i personally didnt like that. i felt like areas where you choose to sit and have a convo should be a clear indication the player is safe, this usually was the case but i had a moment ruined because some enemy heard me. you could argue that could be more natural, but i think having a clear establishment or whats going to happen where makes more sense.

I also had an issue with the detection by enemies in the game. I played on easy so its definitely the most lenient it could have been, but the detection sound seemed too short imo. I really wish the game had like a little meter like in most games? Also the detection sound seemed to blend into certain soundtracks played and was sometimes hard to discern between the two. I personally dont understand why they dont have a detection meter considering theres other hud elements on the screen but idk. Tlou2 doesnt seem to have included that and its kinda disappointing imo

The subtitles sometimes didnt show or they were different from what was actually said but this happened rarely and it wasnt that frustrating, it was just something i noticed. This goes along with the ruined interactions. Also the few times the game had a recorder instead of notes for collectibles, it would have been nice if there was a transcript of it. I’m just lazy, not deaf, but i know some people prefer text over sound.

I personally didnt like the controls on ps4, having to constantly hold L1 to move faster than a walk was annoying to me. I also wish there were more control layouts than the one provided, or that you could change it yourself. I wish just toggling/holding L3 would let you move faster, reloading could be square, R3 should be crouching, and circle should be dodging or whatever. 

I also didnt like the photomode but apparently all new ps4 games had that type of photomode? Idk if its nd that likes that version, but it’d be neat if tlou2 had one similar to hzd/gow/hellblade. I think the lost legacy had the same type so it might just be the same :/

This is nitpicking, and isnt quit dealing with the base game, but i wish the unlockable skins were a bit more diverse instead of being 5 diff colored plaid shirts for joel and references to nd or their old games for ellie. The goggles seem to be the only unique item and its still a easter egg. Idk, i just think it’d be a bit cooler if they were more unique? I dont know if the outfits would work like in uncharted 4, with skins extending to other characters like dina or abby, but it’d be cool if they were more diverse.

Its late and this is all the criticism i can think of and hopefully they improve in tlou2, but yeah everything else is good.

Cow Level

After you have beaten Baal go back to act one. Ifyou have Wirts leg from tristam put it in thehoradric cube. If not go back to tristam and getit. Put a tome of town portal with at least onescroll in it in the horadric cube too. Clicktransmute and a red portal will open. Go throughand prepare for the cow level. Its full of hellbovines and the cow king. Make sure you are inthe same act that you beat Baal in.

A Cube Formula

Full rejuvination is really handy because it restoreshealth (and mana) instantly instead of a bit at atime so if ya didn't know . 3 mana + 3 healing += 1 rejuvination 3 rejuvination is 1 full rej.But even better is: 3 mana + 3 healing + 1 gem =full rejuvination!!!

Full Health (druid Only)

To get full health with a druid just morph into bear or wolf form and when you morph back you will have full hp. You can morph back yourself though you have to wait until it changes you back.

Get A Hellfire Torch

How to get your own torch: First, you must get 3 sets of keys. You get thesekeys, (called terror key, hell key, and destructionkey), from 3 certain mini-bosses in hell mode.These keys randomly drop off of The countess inact1, The Summoner in act2, and Nihlathak in act5. Once you have killed these 3 mini-bosses enoughtimes to receive 3 sets of keys, (that means 3tkeys, 3 hkeys, and 3 dkeys. ), you ready for thenext step: Now you must travel to act 5 of hellmode and transmute the keys. Put one set of keysin the Horadric cube and hit transmute. A redportal will appear (much like the cow level), thered portal will either say 'The Matron Den', 'TheHell Furnace', or 'The Forgotten Sands'. You musttravel through this red portal to get to the uberboss within each portal. In 'The Hell Furnace',you will face off against Uber Izual. In 'Theforgotten sands' you will face off against UberDurial, and in 'The Matron Den' you will face offagainst Lilith (who looks much like andariel). Now I suggest that you open all 3 portals in thesame game, in different places in Harrogath,because which portals open is completely random,but if you already have 1 portal open, thatguarantees that one of the remaining to 2 portalswill open with the next transmute. Now when you kill these 3 uber bosses from the Redportal levels, each boss will drop one 'Organ'.The organs are: Diablo's horn, Mephisto's brain,and Baal's eye. The 3 organs equal 'An organ set'. Now exit the game, and make a new game in hell mode. Put all 3 organs in the Horadric cube and hittransmute. Another red portal will open, but thisone will be called 'Tristam', or 'Uber Tristam'. You are about to face the hardest encounter in thegame, so get ready. Once you travel through theportal, you will meet hordes upon hordes ofskeletons, many of which are completely magicimmune. Forget the Skeletons. Your Focus should beone the 3 bosses in Tristam: Uber Mephisto, Uberdiablo, and Uber Baal. Lure each boss in a corner of Tristam and squareoff with them. Once 2 bosses are defeated, there will be oneleft. After you defeat the third boss, it willdrop a Large Charm (who's text will be in gold).Identify this charm to receive a Hellfire Torch.The torch will give +3 to a random classes skills,+10-+20 to all attributes, +10-+20 to allresistances, and 10 charges of a level 30 firehydra. If the 'Torch' is not for the class youneed it for, you're only choice will to be totrade that torch for another torch for the classyou need. NOTE:You can only have 1 'Torch' at a time. To figure out a torches 'worth' add the numberthat it gives to attributes to the number that itgives to resistances, then divide by 2. EX: A torch gives 18 to attributes, and 16 to allresists, add 18 to 16 to get 34, then divide by 2to get 17. If that number that you calculate is between 10and 14, that torch is considered a 'low torch' andis not worth much. If the number you calculate isbetween 15-17, it is a 'mid torch' and it hasdecent worth. If the calculated number is between18-19, it is considered a 'Hi torch' and has greatvalue. Torches And How To Get Them

A Torch is a item that you put in yourinventory, and it gives you 3 skills up for what-ever your class is. And how to get them is thehard part, heres the first compromise, Tradepeople for them, but you need really good stuffto trade them for. And the second compromise isyou need to get the Lord of Destruction Key, theTerror Key, and the Hatred Key, and you put themin your cube and then it forms a portal, andthen you have to fight bosses. I dont know whatthe bosses are because i never did it before butmy friend on Battle. Net told me. And so afteryo beat the bosses a torch will fall out, a hellfire torch and then you put it in your inventoryand then what your class is, is what 3 skillsare going up! So its a really good chance. Butthe problem is you cant get it again. And youcant get TWO TORCHES FOR THE SAME CLASS!! And ifyou quit out of the game you will never get theopportunity to make another one again! So youbetter do it in that game and do not quit it!GOOD LUCK!

More Quick Spell Selection Keys

Ya know that you can only do 8 quick spellselect keys. And to select them from F1-F8,right. To get more, press Esc, and go intooptions, then go the control settings. As youscroll down, you'll see the selected keys forthe spells you would want to get to quickly. Asyou scroll down more, you start to see that youcan pick up to 16 different spells to select.So, since the F_ keys only go up to F12, I onlydid up to 12 spells to select. If you want tochoose different keys to do up to 16 spells, goahead.

Druids

If you start using a druid invest your skillpoints summoning and morphing skills. Do notinvest too many skill points in elemental skillsbecause in Hell difficulty almost everyone hasimmunities to elemental attacks and spells. Onceyour able to use bear invest all the skillpoints that you can in it (which is twenty)because once their level twenty they can do overone-thousand damage and he will be the bestattruibute that you can have in Nightmare andHell.

Socketing In Items

To put a socket in an item that can be socketed,you put three gems of the same type in thehorodric cube and an item that can be socketed.Once there all in, transmute it, then you shouldhave the item in there socketed. You could alsorepeat this process over and over till it is atits max. You can also do this with items thatare already socketed, or/and that is a magicalitem, like a Unique, but not sure with Set items.Ex:3 chipped gems+1 plate mail=1 socketed platemail.

XP Increase

Whenever you really really need XP do the following. Go to an act that are good at andtype 'players 8', it will increase the XP gained from monsters while increasing the strenght of the monster.

Easy Full Rejuvination Potion

To get a full rejuvination potion all you needis 3 normal rejuvination potions, transmute themand you will have a full rejuvination potion. Toget a normal rejuvination potion you can findone or get 3 mana potions of any size and 3health potions of any size,transmute them andyou will get 1 normal rejuvination potion.Repeat as many times as you want and you willget the same effect.

Experience Bonus

When playing with version 1.09 hit enter then type 'Players 6'. That makes the computer think that there is six players and not just one. That makes the characters harder and more experience and more money.

Good Imbuing

One way to get a good imbued sword or anythingelse is to finish Act 1 and then god to Act 2without imbuing anything, next go to Fara talk toher then buy a falchion or whatever the thing youthink is good to imbue, then go to the waypointin Lut Gohlein and click Act 2, then go to RougeEncampment to go back to act 1(or you can go toWarriv to go back west) then go imbue the item uwant to imbue. NOTE:Remember that it has to be aregular item, not socketed or magical or anything.

Dueling Hint For Barb

While dueling with a barb, use yells as normal.Go back and talk to akara. Next go out to thedueling spot. Instead of bezerk, the move ushould be using to kill most enemys, usewhirlwind,it is way easier to hit someone with.now wait for someone to come to u unless uredueling a foh pali or a zon. On those types youhave to be aggressive and charge at them. Putitems that give you speed when facing them. Whenwhirlwinding, dont click on them but close tothem. If u click on them you will keepwhirlwinding them untill you run out of mana.Try to hit your enemy with the tip of your weponbecause thats where it does the most damage.Barbs are hard to duel with at first because theyhave no long range attacks but in my opinion theyare the best duelers in the hands of experts.

Dueling Hint For Assassin

When dueling with an assassin, go out of town andhit an enemy 3 times with tiger strike charge-up,then go back to the dueling spot and with dragonwing, (the teleport kick) attack someone. Thisshould do much more damage then a regular dragonwing kick.

Sound Chaos

During the game, multiplayer or single, pressenter and type soundchaosdebug. You will hearmany voices of characters in the game. Typesoundchaosdebug again to turn it off.

Frozen Death

If you are just starting out as a sorc, the youcan use this. It only works with the sorceress.When you level up a few times, go to new skill.Go to ice magick, and there will be a shield witha glimmer. Click that and you have ice shield.This manked anything that hits you turn to ice.When you hit it back, it shatters and melts. Youmust reuse it every once in a while, because itwears off after about 4 minutes. You can use anyother spell while this is activated, too. Best inmob battles.

Antidote Potion Recipe

Put a strangling gas potion and a healing potion in the horadric cube. Transmute them to get an antidote potion.

Arrow/Bolt Formula

This horadric cube formula is only really useful if you are travelling with a bow or crossbow, and run out of arrows/bolts and you don't feel like town portaling back to town. 2 quivers of arrows make 1 quiver of bolts. 2 quivers of bolts then equal one quiver of arrows.

3 Gems Of Same Type

Put 3 gems of same type and level of perfection(chipped, flawed, etc) into the horadric cube.Hit transmute and you get a gem of the next levelof perfection. Example 3 chipped make 1 flawed.

3 Amulet Ring Formula

Diablo 2 Lord Of Destruction Maphack

In the horadric cube put 3 amulets in. Transmutefor 1 ring. This is good if you have 3 bad onesand you don't need the money. The inverse workstoo. I mean 3 rings equals one amulet. There is apotential for good amulets/rings. The best I'vegotten was a plus 1 to all skill levels and 4percent life steal.

Cloak Em' And Smoke Em'

This is a useful trick with the assasin. When yourun into a large group of monsters use cloak ofshadows. Then lay as many traps as you can rightin the midst of the monsters. Before the cloak ofshadow runs out most of the monsters will be dead.Note: This is much better if you of a shadowwarrior. The shadow warrior will launch/hrow herown traps too. This will not work with the shadowmaster because masters can use any skill. Themaster will probably just run up and starthitting the monsters instead of doing traps.

Assassin Lock Open

If you are an assasin you don't need keys to openlocked chests. Just click on the locked chest andit will be open. Some people who don't read themanual don't know this.

Act V Mountain Quest

In act V on the quest fighting the barbarianancients on Arriat Summit you can't leave withoutthe ancients resetting. In nightmare or hell modethey gain ablities. You can use the reset to youradvantage. If they have an ability you don't liketo fight against use a town portal. When you comeback you can start the battle over and they'llhave different abilities.

Imbue Redo

To make sure you get a good imbue take your savefile and copy it to another place( folder, disk,cd, etc.) Then have charsi imbue whatever youwant. If you don't like the results delete thesave in the diablo2 folder and put the other onein. The repeat until you like the item you get.

Early Sockected Hint/cheat

Early in the game find a good socketed weopenwith 2 or more sockets. If you put a rune orjewel that does poison damage and a emarald orjust 2 emarlads or 2 runes,etc. the poisondameage will increase dramatically. Okay, I know this may come off weird. I do not play DnD or anything like it, but I saw some of your characters and I fell in love with them. If you do not mind answering me, I enjoy writing, and I am curious as to how you design your characters.

Not at all, besides D&D I also write in my spare time as well and make comics. I find they all have slightly different processes at least for me.

Since digital art is my main medium of expression, I tend to first draw characters before anything. Characters like Mikeitaa my druid tiefling I went into a blank page and just drew out and pieced it together along the way.

Others are inspired by things that make me excited; the most blatant is my aasimar barbarian, Ashar, who I drew after the KDA music video was dropped.

Its usually less blatant than that though, such as a general aesthetic, a colour palette, a design concept, sometimes its as little as a line I drew that just catches my attention. The important part is that inspiration.

I find this process is quite successful for me when creating PCs that I like enough to play. I usually develope their personality and character along the way while drawing, filling in the blanks here and there once I'm done to flesh them out. A good example of this I think is Reqei

His inspiration was his style of horns, specifically the thought of "what if their "eyebrows" were just hair tufts sticking out from the bottom of their horns?" I ended up drawing a tilted and kind of sad face and as the rest came out I developed the idea of this emotionally numb slave soldier. Talking to my DM about his setting placed him as a slave of the dwarves, his nicer attire and weapon due to being sold as a personal guard after not dying, and informed many other aspects of his psychology and personality. I filled in smaller things with the details that caught my attention and some creative thinking: he wouldn't use a gun and the starting gear doesn't allow for it but his master would certainly have his life threatened with one, so its a broken gun that serves as a memory. His claws don't quite match his colour palette though it compliments his gear's metal buttons and halberd.

Reqei is already someone who goes into instinctual survival mode and would use anything as a weapon, what if he saved his master clawing someone's face off with a cheap metal prosthetic claw and he had all of them replaced for his sake so Reqei had more weapons? Of course dueing this all the characters related to Reqei are also being fleshed out, such as his master and his master's wife.

I think the most important thing is that these things are not irrelevant. They inform/shape not only his character but the characters involved with him. I always ask "what does this tell me about the character?" Especially durring this process of fleshing out the little things. With this even simple characters become interesting and without it big characters might wring hollow, I've had both happen to me.

Its important that you are personaly interested in the character regardless of the medium, even if its just and npc or side character, something like "I would really like to see more of that character and see their story unfold." Thats how I usually make NPCs for my players, and its easy to control if you know what appeals to certain people and you can make it obvious that certain characters clearly have more going on to draw the eye even while making everyone interesting looking.

Some of that can translate to written and other mediums but I think for more structured storytelling like comics and especially writing you have to take a different approach. I find for comics its important for me to draw characters first still because the characters i come up with in my head I might not be able to draw to my satisfaction, but for writing you can go hogwild with your imagination as long as you can describe it, the character isn't as limited by your personal skill as in visual mediums.

The most important difference between them and D&D though is that you already know the story you're putting them in, they're often developed alongside the story as a part of it, not inserted into it. Because of that you have to think a little more utilitarian. "Does this serve a purpose to the narrative/themes/aesop?" In D&D its part of the DM's job to build a narritive AROUND the PCs and its developing live. In a written story this is usually a bad idea because it ends up with plot holes and such so its important characters be fitted into the story and not just created separately and inserted.

For zombiegirl we wanted to make a gag 4koma so we created characters that could clash and create comedic moments, made their personalities a little ridiculous and over the top, and most importantly created characters who while quirky in their own right, could play straightmen to the comedy. The genre really shaped the characters we made and many of the side characters were made to fill comedic niches that fit the aesthetic and themes.

They're also all visually distinct, with visual media people usually go by the rule of "every character has an identifiable sillouette". In writing I find a decent equivelant to be speech patterns and unique identifiable features that can be refered to quickly. This character has red hair, this character is the shortest, this one has no eyebrows; Something that could easily be used as an identifying nickname in a situation where their name isn't known.

In general I tend to write very eccentric and somewhat extreme characters. The most important thing to me is their point of interest. Something makes me want to play/draw/write more about them, something to explore. I tend to end up with "main character NPCs" because of this, where they're too interesting for their role in the story and never get explored to a satisfactory extent. In D&D thats okay because you never really know who your players will want to talk to and have a story with, but in structured writing it can just leave you unsatisfied if their interestingness isnt properly scaled.

I guess the most important thing is it feels natural. While people say "don't judge a book by its cover" people do express themselves consciously or not. Their appearance should serve a purpose. Whether you should create the appearance first or the personality first depends on what they're being made for. I always remind myself that in the end, characters are tools of their story and vice versa and to varying amounts create them with that in mind.

My last note is that I draw from things that interest me. I like plants and flower language and bugs and animals, nature in general. Sometimes I make characters with similar interests but more often I use that knowledge to create characters; characters themed after animals, motifs, drawing from animal behaviours and exploring them in a more self aware humanoid. I end up with a lot of wild child types and alien psychology because of this.

My most recent example of this is the harvester god who holds fatherhood as the most important relationship and opposes the eat or be eaten matriarchal drow spider goddess, inspired by how male harvestmen protect their eggs from egg eating females. I have to remind myself sometimes that when it comes to inspiration its more important that you like the resulting concept than accuracy to the inspiration unless accuracy is the point.

Some people get caught up trying to make one to one allegories but if you're writing fantasy then I think those are pointless. I like fantasy's ability to explore situations and characters that can't exist in real life, beyond just magical abilities and such. I end up creating very alien characters because of that. I tend to frame characters more biologically than philosophically which informs how they themselves think, which is often very animalistic.

I dont know if any of that satisfies your curiosity I think I got off track a lot, sorry. I hope I answered your question somewhere in there.

Now, in 2008 i had a conversation with a number of gay men. Also my daughter left my house while i was in an RV and she couldn't find me. And i felt her fear. Basically, move out of your head and start using your body more.

4. Fill your plate with veggies first.

There is more than one upside to this habit.

Firstly, if you fill up your plate with low-calorie food (vegetables are ideal), you immediately perceive your plate as full and can barely find the place to add more food.

Secondly, if you eat those veggies before you attack that huge steak waiting for you, you just might discover your belly is actually quite full already.

And thirdly, vegetables are simply good for you. You might have heard the story of green veggies that are magicalbecause of their high-fiber content and tons of vitamins before.

And you might just hate me right now for stating this obvious fact again, but try eating two or three times as much vegetables than what you are used to, and trust me, your entire digestive system will thank you.

5. Feed your body with complex carbs.

Let go of the ancient belief that a low-carb diet is the best way to go.

The truth is, your body needs more carbohydrates than any other nutrient. The myth of getting slim by eliminating carbs from your diet is based on the fact simple carbs indeed do you no good, since your body processes them much too quickly, which leads to a rapid rise and then a rapid fall of your blood sugar.

This leaves you feeling sluggish, drained of all energy and, quite often, a bit bloated.

So, how to ditch this habit with little effort? Think in terms of substitutions, instead of eliminations.

Once you start tracking what you eat, focus on the meals where you consume most of your carbs, and make sure you substitute them with complex carbs. Find substitutions you will fall in love with. For example, coconut oil, olive oil, cod fish liver oil, nuts, avocados or nut butter are all great options to add to your diet.

7. Eat plenty of lean protein.

Protein is the macro that plays a crucial role in every single function of our bodies.

It also plays a very important role in your diet, if you are trying to lose or even maintain weight, since it boosts your metabolism and helps to reduce appetite. It keeps you full and satisfied longer.

Some great options are Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, quark and eggs. Try soy milk, tofu, tempeh or legumes if you want to avoid animal proteinaltogether.

8. Find balance in everything you do.

After you have beaten Baal go back to act one. If you have Wirts leg from tristam put it in the horadric cube. If not go back to tristam and get it. Put a tome of town portal with at least one scroll in it in the horadric cube too. Click transmute and a red portal will open. Go through and prepare for the cow level. Its full of hell bovines and the cow king. Make sure you are in the same act that you beat Baal in.

A Cube Formula

Full rejuvination is really handy because it restores health (and mana) instantly instead of a bit at a time so if ya didn’t know . 3 mana + 3 healing + = 1 rejuvination 3 rejuvination is 1 full rej. But even better is: 3 mana + 3 healing + 1 gem = full rejuvination!!!

Full Health (druid Only)

To get full health with a druid just morph into bear or wolf form and when you morph back you will have full hp. You can morph back yourself though you have to wait until it changes you back.

Get A Hellfire Torch

How to get your own torch: First, you must get 3 sets of keys. You get thesekeys, (called terror key, hell key, and destructionkey), from 3 certain mini-bosses in hell mode. These keys randomly drop off of The countess inact1, The Summoner in act2, and Nihlathak in act5. Once you have killed these 3 mini-bosses enoughtimes to receive 3 sets of keys, (that means 3tkeys, 3 hkeys, and 3 dkeys. ), you ready for thenext step: Now you must travel to act 5 of hellmode and transmute the keys. Put one set of keysin the Horadric cube and hit transmute. A redportal will appear (much like the cow level), thered portal will either say “The Matron Den”, “TheHell Furnace”, or “The Forgotten Sands”. You musttravel through this red portal to get to the uberboss within each portal. In “The Hell Furnace”, you will face off against Uber Izual. In “Theforgotten sands” you will face off against UberDurial, and in “The Matron Den” you will face offagainst Lilith (who looks much like andariel). Now I suggest that you open all 3 portals in thesame game, in different places in Harrogath, because which portals open is completely random, but if you already have 1 portal open, thatguarantees that one of the remaining to 2 portalswill open with the next transmute. Now when you kill these 3 uber bosses from the Redportal levels, each boss will drop one “Organ”. The organs are: Diablo’s horn, Mephisto’s brain, and Baal’s eye. The 3 organs equal “An organ set”. Now exit the game, and make a new game in hell mode. Put all 3 organs in the Horadric cube and hittransmute. Another red portal will open, but thisone will be called “Tristam”, or “Uber Tristam”. You are about to face the hardest encounter in thegame, so get ready. Once you travel through theportal, you will meet hordes upon hordes ofskeletons, many of which are completely magicimmune. Forget the Skeletons. Your Focus should beone the 3 bosses in Tristam: Uber Mephisto, Uberdiablo, and Uber Baal. Lure each boss in a corner of Tristam and squareoff with them. Once 2 bosses are defeated, there will be oneleft. After you defeat the third boss, it willdrop a Large Charm (who’s text will be in gold). Identify this charm to receive a Hellfire Torch. The torch will give +3 to a random classes skills, +10-+20 to all attributes, +10-+20 to allresistances, and 10 charges of a level 30 firehydra. If the “Torch” is not for the class youneed it for, you’re only choice will to be totrade that torch for another torch for the classyou need. NOTE:You can only have 1 “Torch” at a time. To figure out a torches “worth” add the numberthat it gives to attributes to the number that itgives to resistances, then divide by 2. EX: A torch gives 18 to attributes, and 16 to allresists, add 18 to 16 to get 34, then divide by 2to get 17. If that number that you calculate is between 10and 14, that torch is considered a “low torch” andis not worth much. If the number you calculate isbetween 15-17, it is a “mid torch” and it hasdecent worth. If the calculated number is between18-19, it is considered a “Hi torch” and has greatvalue. If the calculated number is 20, the torchis considered a “Perfect torch” or a “Ptorch” andhas extremely high value.

Torches And How To Get Them

A Torch is a item that you put in your inventory, and it gives you 3 skills up for what-ever your class is. And how to get them is the hard part, heres the first compromise, Trade people for them, but you need really good stuff to trade them for. And the second compromise is you need to get the Lord of Destruction Key, the Terror Key, and the Hatred Key, and you put them in your cube and then it forms a portal, and then you have to fight bosses. I dont know what the bosses are because i never did it before but my friend on Battle. Net told me. And so after yo beat the bosses a torch will fall out, a hell fire torch and then you put it in your inventory and then what your class is, is what 3 skills are going up! So its a really good chance. But the problem is you cant get it again. And you cant get TWO TORCHES FOR THE SAME CLASS!! And if you quit out of the game you will never get the opportunity to make another one again! So you better do it in that game and do not quit it! GOOD LUCK!

More Quick Spell Selection Keys

Ya know that you can only do 8 quick spell select keys. And to select them from F1-F8, right. To get more, press Esc, and go into options, then go the control settings. As you scroll down, you’ll see the selected keys for the spells you would want to get to quickly. As you scroll down more, you start to see that you can pick up to 16 different spells to select. So, since the F_ keys only go up to F12, I only did up to 12 spells to select. If you want to choose different keys to do up to 16 spells, go ahead.

Druids

If you start using a druid invest your skill points summoning and morphing skills. Do not invest too many skill points in elemental skills because in Hell difficulty almost everyone has immunities to elemental attacks and spells. Once your able to use bear invest all the skill points that you can in it (which is twenty) because once their level twenty they can do over one-thousand damage and he will be the best attruibute that you can have in Nightmare and Hell.

Socketing In Items

To put a socket in an item that can be socketed, you put three gems of the same type in the horodric cube and an item that can be socketed. Once there all in, transmute it, then you should have the item in there socketed. You could also repeat this process over and over till it is at its max. You can also do this with items that are already socketed, or/and that is a magical item, like a Unique, but not sure with Set items.Ex:3 chipped gems+1 plate mail=1 socketed plate mail.

XP Increase

Whenever you really really need XP do the following. Go to an act that are good at and type “players 8”, it will increase the XP gained from monsters while increasing the strenght of the monster.

Easy Full Rejuvination Potion

To get a full rejuvination potion all you need is 3 normal rejuvination potions, transmute them and you will have a full rejuvination potion. To get a normal rejuvination potion you can find one or get 3 mana potions of any size and 3 health potions of any size,transmute them and you will get 1 normal rejuvination potion. Repeat as many times as you want and you will get the same effect.

Experience Bonus

When playing with version 1.09 hit enter then type “Players 6”. That makes the computer think that there is six players and not just one. That makes the characters harder and more experience and more money.

Good Imbuing

One way to get a good imbued sword or anything else is to finish Act 1 and then god to Act 2 without imbuing anything, next go to Fara talk to her then buy a falchion or whatever the thing you think is good to imbue, then go to the waypoint in Lut Gohlein and click Act 2, then go to Rouge Encampment to go back to act 1(or you can go to Warriv to go back west) then go imbue the item u want to imbue. NOTE:Remember that it has to be a regular item, not socketed or magical or anything.

Dueling Hint For Barb

While dueling with a barb, use yells as normal. Go back and talk to akara. Next go out to the dueling spot. Instead of bezerk, the move u should be using to kill most enemys, use whirlwind,it is way easier to hit someone with.now wait for someone to come to u unless ure dueling a foh pali or a zon. On those types you have to be aggressive and charge at them. Put items that give you speed when facing them. When whirlwinding, dont click on them but close to them. If u click on them you will keep whirlwinding them untill you run out of mana.Try to hit your enemy with the tip of your wepon because thats where it does the most damage.Barbs are hard to duel with at first because they have no long range attacks but in my opinion they are the best duelers in the hands of experts.

Dueling Hint For Assassin

When dueling with an assassin, go out of town and hit an enemy 3 times with tiger strike charge-up, then go back to the dueling spot and with dragon wing, (the teleport kick) attack someone. This should do much more damage then a regular dragon wing kick.

Sound Chaos

During the game, multiplayer or single, press enter and type soundchaosdebug. You will hear many voices of characters in the game. Type soundchaosdebug again to turn it off.

Frozen Death

If you are just starting out as a sorc, the you can use this. It only works with the sorceress. When you level up a few times, go to new skill. Go to ice magick, and there will be a shield with a glimmer. Click that and you have ice shield. This manked anything that hits you turn to ice. When you hit it back, it shatters and melts. You must reuse it every once in a while, because it wears off after about 4 minutes. You can use any other spell while this is activated, too. Best in mob battles.

Antidote Potion Recipe

Put a strangling gas potion and a healing potion in the horadric cube. Transmute them to get an antidote potion.

Arrow/Bolt Formula

This horadric cube formula is only really useful if you are travelling with a bow or crossbow, and run out of arrows/bolts and you don’t feel like town portaling back to town. 2 quivers of arrows make 1 quiver of bolts. 2 quivers of bolts then equal one quiver of arrows.

3 Gems Of Same Type

Put 3 gems of same type and level of perfection (chipped, flawed, etc) into the horadric cube. Hit transmute and you get a gem of the next level of perfection. Example 3 chipped make 1 flawed.

3 Amulet Ring Formula

In the horadric cube put 3 amulets in. Transmute for 1 ring. This is good if you have 3 bad ones and you don’t need the money. The inverse works too. I mean 3 rings equals one amulet. There is a potential for good amulets/rings. The best I’ve gotten was a plus 1 to all skill levels and 4 percent life steal.

Cloak Em’ And Smoke Em’

This is a useful trick with the assasin. When you run into a large group of monsters use cloak of shadows. Then lay as many traps as you can right in the midst of the monsters. Before the cloak of shadow runs out most of the monsters will be dead.Note: This is much better if you of a shadow warrior. The shadow warrior will launch/hrow her own traps too. This will not work with the shadow master because masters can use any skill. The master will probably just run up and start hitting the monsters instead of doing traps.

Assassin Lock Open

If you are an assasin you don’t need keys to open locked chests. Just click on the locked chest and it will be open. Some people who don’t read the manual don’t know this.

Act V Mountain Quest

In act V on the quest fighting the barbarian ancients on Arriat Summit you can’t leave without the ancients resetting. In nightmare or hell mode they gain ablities. You can use the reset to your advantage. If they have an ability you don’t like to fight against use a town portal. When you come back you can start the battle over and they’ll have different abilities.

Imbue Redo

To make sure you get a good imbue take your save file and copy it to another place( folder, disk, cd, etc.) Then have charsi imbue whatever you want. If you don’t like the results delete the save in the diablo2 folder and put the other one in. The repeat until you like the item you get.

Early Sockected Hint/cheat

Early in the game find a good socketed weopen with 2 or more sockets. If you put a rune or jewel that does poison damage and a emarald or just 2 emarlads or 2 runes,etc. the poison dameage will increase dramatically. For example 2 chipped emaralds which do 6 poison damage each together do 23 poison damage. This allows you in the first act and early in the second act to kill most normal monsters with great ease

Weird Prismatic Amulet

Put a perfect gem of every type except skull(in some patched versions you need the skull) in the horadric cube. Hit transmute. You will get an amulet with all resists set to random amounts. Ex.

Fire rst 18Cold rst 12Light rst 9Poison rst 4

You will also get a random affect like life steal, extra stats, abilities, etc.

Horadric Socketing Recipe

Put 3 perfect skulls, a Stone of Jordan (a unique ring), and a rare item and the rare item will have one socket after the transmuting.

Horadric Cube Rune Formulas

If you put in 3 runes of the same kind you will get 1 new type of rune. EXP. 3 EL runes+horadric cube= 1 ELD rune, 3 TIR runes+horadric cube+1 TAL rune.

Cheats

Perfect Xp Offline

Type /players 8 in any version past 1. 09a and it will be like an online game with max players. The monsters will be harder but in turn you get a lot more experience.

Colors In Profile

To put colors in your profile, minimize the game (ALT+TAB) and open up Notepad. Hold ALT and press 00255 on num pad. You should get a y with 2 dots. Copy it and open up profile. Hold control and press v to paste it. Then press c and they should disappear. Press 1-0 (not on num pad). And to get purple, press ;

Dueling Strategy For Sorc

When dueling as a hydra sorc in blood moor, go into one of those small houses. Fill the house with hydras. When an enemy comes in, teleport out for the house so your enemy can meet their toasty demise.note: this doesnt work well when dueling zons.
